Sure, advent is a time of preparation, too, but it’s also a time of doubling down on our story, of circling up to raise a glass to the Kingdom of God and remind ourselves of the urgency of our hour. It’s hard to say it better than folks have said it for centuries - “When the Church celebrates the liturgy of Advent each year, she makes present this ancient expectancy of the Messiah, for by sharing in the long preparation for the Savior’s first coming, the faithful renew their ardent desire for his second coming…the Church unites herself to his desire.”
