When is a story a “commandment”? When the story it tells is so foundational that opens up an entire way of life. This week, Grace on the other side takes a perhaps surprising form: a command that’s actually a statement that tells a story. “I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, the house of slavery.” Having been set free, God’s people enter into a relationship with God marked by life-giving service. How can we receive God-given boundaries and limits as grace in which new life takes root?
