So quite up there, one"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":183.61,"endTime":186.64,"body":"of the most common causes that"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":186.64,"endTime":189.1,"body":"are being diagnosed, probably"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":186.64,"endTime":189.1,"body":"similar to your internal"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":189.1,"endTime":192.88,"body":"medicine, would be lymphoma. So"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":210.46,"endTime":214.24,"body":"we can see a vertebral canal"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":210.46,"endTime":214.24,"body":"stenosis, so that happens in"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":214.24,"endTime":217.72,"body":"some british short hairs, we've"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":214.24,"endTime":217.72,"body":"got a narrowing of the vertebral"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":217.72,"endTime":220.54,"body":"canal itself, which pinches the"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":217.72,"endTime":220.54,"body":"spinal cord, as well as"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":220.54,"endTime":223.99,"body":"sometimes things like FIP, as"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":220.54,"endTime":223.99,"body":"well, can present just having a"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":223.99,"endTime":226.06,"body":"spinal cord component, but less"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":223.99,"endTime":226.06,"body":"commonly."},{"speaker":"Sam Taylor","startTime":226.81,"endTime":228.91,"body":"Yeah, that's"},{"speaker":"Sam Taylor","startTime":226.81,"endTime":228.91,"body":"interesting actually, I recently"},{"speaker":"Sam Taylor","startTime":228.91,"endTime":231.52,"body":"done a bit of work on FIP, and"},{"speaker":"Sam Taylor","startTime":228.91,"endTime":231.52,"body":"we did have the odd case with"},{"speaker":"Sam Taylor","startTime":231.52,"endTime":233.89,"body":"the spinal presentation. So"},{"speaker":"Sam Taylor","startTime":231.52,"endTime":233.89,"body":"that's a good point, a good"},{"speaker":"Sam Taylor","startTime":233.89,"endTime":238.42,"body":"differential, to consider. In"},{"speaker":"Sam Taylor","startTime":233.89,"endTime":238.42,"body":"general, how to cats with disc"},{"speaker":"Sam Taylor","startTime":238.42,"endTime":242.8,"body":"disease present? Do we expect"},{"speaker":"Sam Taylor","startTime":238.42,"endTime":242.8,"body":"the neurological deficits that"},{"speaker":"Sam Taylor","startTime":242.8,"endTime":246.07,"body":"we might in dogs? Or what's your"},{"speaker":"Sam Taylor","startTime":242.8,"endTime":246.07,"body":"experience of cats that are"},{"speaker":"Sam Taylor","startTime":246.07,"endTime":248.11,"body":"coming in with disc disease?"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":248.0,"endTime":250.94,"body":"We tend to try and"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":248.0,"endTime":250.94,"body":"have this five finger rule."},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":250.94,"endTime":253.88,"body":"That's where we try and describe"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":250.94,"endTime":253.88,"body":"and summarise an animals"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":253.91,"endTime":257.9,"body":"clinical presentation using five"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":253.91,"endTime":257.9,"body":"different variables. And that"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":257.9,"endTime":260.51,"body":"can really help with our"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":257.9,"endTime":260.51,"body":"clinical reasoning. So those"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":260.51,"endTime":264.2,"body":"five things that we consider"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":260.51,"endTime":264.2,"body":"covers the onset. So is it acute"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":264.2,"endTime":266.66,"body":"or chronic? The progression? Is"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":264.2,"endTime":266.66,"body":"it getting worse, staying the"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":266.66,"endTime":269.39,"body":"same or getting better? Is it"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":266.66,"endTime":269.39,"body":"painful? However, I do"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":294.65,"endTime":297.83,"body":"find it really hard to judge"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":294.65,"endTime":297.83,"body":"pain in cats, I think they can"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":297.83,"endTime":301.19,"body":"be so difficult to read and some"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":297.83,"endTime":301.19,"body":"cats will be overtly painful,"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":301.31,"endTime":304.01,"body":"but others with what you think"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":301.31,"endTime":304.01,"body":"is a painful condition, what you"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":304.01,"endTime":306.98,"body":"diagnosed as a painful condition"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":304.01,"endTime":306.98,"body":"really don't show it outwards to"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":306.98,"endTime":311.09,"body":"you. So I think it's kind of the"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":306.98,"endTime":311.09,"body":"most nonspecific of all of that"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":311.12,"endTime":314.09,"body":"part of the five finger rule."},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":311.12,"endTime":314.09,"body":"When the clinical signs with an"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":314.09,"endTime":316.76,"body":"extrusion can be really"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":314.09,"endTime":316.76,"body":"variable. Sometimes it can be"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":316.79,"endTime":319.67,"body":"just a pain, and they can"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":316.79,"endTime":319.67,"body":"progress through to show signs"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":319.67,"endTime":322.76,"body":"of paresis or ataxia or"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":319.67,"endTime":322.76,"body":"paraplegia. So sometimes there's"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":322.76,"endTime":327.26,"body":"signs of a myelopathy there but"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":322.76,"endTime":327.26,"body":"not always. Other sorts of"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":327.26,"endTime":329.81,"body":"presentations. For other types"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":327.26,"endTime":329.81,"body":"of discs, when we've got a"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":329.81,"endTime":333.5,"body":"protrusion, that's typically a"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":329.81,"endTime":333.5,"body":"chronic, progressive and non"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":333.5,"endTime":336.47,"body":"painful condition. Although in"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":333.5,"endTime":336.47,"body":"some small cases it can be"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":336.47,"endTime":340.07,"body":"painful. Typically, you would"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":336.47,"endTime":340.07,"body":"see an ataxia or paraparesis"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":340.07,"endTime":342.89,"body":"there, maybe in an older cat,"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":340.07,"endTime":342.89,"body":"but it's not particularly"},{"speaker":"Daniel Ryan","startTime":342.89,"endTime":346.67,"body":"painful.
