When a client is talking, are you truly listening to understand or just waiting for your turn to speak? Welcome back my friends. This is Realty Chatter Daily. Quick wins for realtors where we deliver.
Welcome back my friends. This is Realty Chatter Daily. Quick wins for realtors where we bring you short actionable insights to help you thrive. I'm your host, Gary McGowan and today we're talking about something so simple yet so powerful. Active listening. Early in my career, I used to jump into conversations with my own ideas thinking I knew what clients wanted. But one day a client said, I just need someone to hear me out first. That was my wake up call. Real listening.
isn't about waiting for your turn, it's about giving the client your full attention without assumptions or interruptions, something all realtors find it difficult to do. Today's quick win. The next time you're with a client, try this. After they share their thoughts, pause and say, tell me more about that. It's a simple phrase, but it encourages them to open up and dig deeper into what's truly important to them. You might hear insights that wouldn't have come out otherwise.
Here's another tip. Instead of preparing your response while they're speaking, focus on listening until they finish. Then, before jumping in, reflect back on what they said. And your response could be something like this. So it sounds like you're really focused on finding a location with a great aftercare school program for your kids. Here's the insight. Active listening isn't just about gathering information. It's about building trust.
Clients feel valued and understood when they know they have your full attention. And a client who trusts you is a client that stays with you. So my friends, let's make listening our superpower. Next time you're with a client, try listening with intention and see how it transforms your conversations and connections. And as always, stay motivated, keep laughing and keep thriving through real connections. This is RealtyChatter Daily.
