What is Progress and Perfection?

Recovery themed, Christian flavored daily reflections for those struggling, recovering, or seeking understanding.

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭23

It can get to be quite the downer looking at our addiction all the time. Poor me. I’ve got it rough. I am afflicted. Addicted. Flawed.

In times of extreme negativity which can lead to unhealthy comparison (which we are not qualified to undertake) it can be useful to remember some simple truths.

All have fallen short.

This is not to prop ourselves up and feel better about our brand of sin. Addiction is no joke. And it is more imminently threatening to our lives than other equally bad things.

But, we aren’t the first group of folks to go about screwing something up that was intended for our good.

This is a pattern as old as time. One that God has in turns tolerated and punished and spoken into and walked beside and pulled us out of for the entirety of the earth.

Addiction has twisted our natural desires into more than they should be.

But just as we are not the first to pollute His plan by inserting ourselves at the center of it, we are not the first to recognize this error and begin the walk back into grace.

Redemption is a journey that requires humility, strength, and faith in God's forgiving grace.

God grant me the willingness to walk in the light of your path.
