Squadify Connects

We do a lot of work with teams of all kinds, and one thing we can say is that they think that they know what they're trying to achieve and how they will do it. But in fact, they generally don't. This Connects sets up the rest of this mini-series so that you can lead a team that is not just going places or being really busy, but knows where that place is and how they'll get there.

What is Squadify Connects?

Punchy, actionable insights and tips to make the life of the team leader a breeze.

[00:00:00] Pia: We do a lot of work with teams of all kinds, and one thing we can say is that they think that they know what they're trying to achieve and how they will do it. But in fact, they generally don't. This Connects sets up the rest of this mini-series so that you can lead a team that is not just going places or being really busy, but knows where that place is and how they'll get there. I'm Pia.

[00:00:26] Dan: And I'm Dan, and this is Squadify Connects.

[00:00:28] Teams often seem to know, don't they? Why the team exists. You know what it's there for, but when you drill down into it, and Squadify data backs this up, by the way, team members often don't actually have all the elements of clarity, well, clear.

[00:00:45] Pia: So clarity on a page is a great way to get all these elements of clarity in one place so that it's more likely to be shared by all the team members. It has a structure that goes from the broad to the very specific. And this mini-series is gonna help you and your team to create one for yourselves. The key is that every element brings you closer as a team so that you work together more effectively.

[00:01:13] Dan: You can find resources on clarity on a page in the show notes, but let's now walk through it. It includes the why, the what, the how, and the who.

[00:01:22] Pia: First comes the why, or your purpose. This is not just what the team is there to do, but should have an emotional pull that really engages and mobilizes the team.

[00:01:35] Dan: Next is the what. This is your goal and how you'll measure it. This is crucial as it is the start of what makes a team, what are you trying to achieve together?

[00:01:46] Pia: And next is the how. Your strategies. Again, these are not departmental or individual strategies. They're the things that you're going to do together as a team to achieve the goal.

[00:01:59] Dan: And finally we have the who. Your team needs to get really clear on roles in delivering the strategies and crucially how those roles connect so that people know how to work again together.

[00:02:11] Pia: You probably got to the point that clarity on a page for the team sets you up to work as a team together, not as a group of individuals. And this is really interesting cuz lots of teams think they're a team, but they're actually much more a group of individuals. So this is a really great way to bring everyone together. And if you get this right, you really set yourself up for success and reduce the chances of a lot of headaches down the track.

[00:02:38] Dan: So true. So this week, take a look at the resources in the show notes and think about your own team. How close are you to having all of those elements of clarity in place? How about your team as a whole? Talk to them and see if you can get a good picture of where the gaps are. Where do you really want to focus in the coming weeks as we put this clarity on a page together?

[00:02:59] Pia: clarity on a page really helps you to create a simple, clear, and compelling direction for you and your team. And it gives meaning, and really importantly, it enables your team to align their actions together to a greater purpose and goal. Next week we'll be looking for valuable information that sits outside your team and is equally crucial to planning and performance. So see you then.
