The From Scratch Body

Happy New Year and welcome to the year we are UPPING THE GAME here at The From Scratch Body. I share my thoughts on it today. Let's all get excited about home cooking in 2024!

Hi, and welcome to The From Scratch Body! I’m Liv, and I believe that when we make our own food from base ingredients, our bodies will thank us. I want to help you with the skills, knowledge and most importantly, confidence, you need to make food at home in your own kitchen – on your terms – to fit your body. So every week, I share a health topic or a recipe, or both, which will take you on a journey to effortless cooking, step by step. Join me weekly here on my podcast, and check out my website for the transcripts and more. You can also find tons of great food content on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and Pinterest.

What is The From Scratch Body?

Singer and actor Liv Austen has turned a health issue into a passion for cooking, by taking control of every ingredient that goes in to her meals. Every week she shares something she has learned from cooking from scratch, and goes through a recipe she loves, so you can cook alongside the podcast. Cook from scratch - your body will thank you.

2023 was a momentous year for me on a personal level. I became a mum for the first time. It has completely taken over my life, as you’d expect, which I have shared on here earlier in the year as well. On a career level, this slowed things down a little, and though I had been hard at work to schedule out as many posts, recipes, podcasts and videos as I could before my baby arrived, I couldn’t keep up with the plans I had made for myself once newborn life was a reality. We also moved house 5 weeks before the due date, and with a hospital stay due to preeclampsia and then early arrival of baby, it’s safe to say I was scrambling to catch up with myself for… pretty much the first 6 months after that.

Now that I am further into this new setup, being part of a family, or rather - running a family, you could say - I have adjusted to not just being carefree and living in a flat in a London suburb with my boyfriend, free to spend as much time as I’d like in the kitchen whenever I feel like it. As much of a delight it is to become a parent, I don’t think we should keep it a secret that you do, to an extent, lose the person you once were and that can at times be hard. But as I say, it is now something I have adjusted to, and when I take a step back and look at this from the perspective of The From Scratch Body, I believe that what I have learned (and am still learning) is absolutely invaluable to the development of what we are doing with TFSB. I know that many of you who follow me have families and busy lives in different ways, and although I was always sympathetic to that, I am now understanding the true meaning of busy in a whole new way - and hopefully I can use my experiences and solutions to challenges to help you all be able to realistically make food at home without having to sacrifice too much of your precious time in the process.

In 2024 the plan is to up the game. We will take a good, honest look at cooking from scratch, when it is possible, how it is possible, and how it can help your life, your health and your wallet. A huge focus is to increase confidence in home cooking, with courses, e-books and other resources to de-mystify the process entirely. Check out my new mission statement (coming shortly!) to get a clearer idea of exactly what you can expect from following The From Scratch Body and using us as a resource on a regular basis.

I am bursting with ideas, and I am working hard to bring them to life and accessible for you all this year. I don’t want to overpromise on how soon it will be available to you, but rest assured you will be the first to know - make sure to sign up for my newsletter and follow me on social media, YouTube and your chosen podcast platform so you don’t miss anything. Let’s all become confident home cooks together this year, up the game,, and our bodies will thank us!
