Pre-recording the show at home, we're doing something a little bit different tonight. What I'm going to play for you tonight. This was released as a six CD box set called The Long Island Sound back in 2013, and it was an incredible box set which encompasses two shows from Hartford Civic Center on the fifth of September, and from I think it's Nassau Coliseum. I don't have that in front of me. Why not? Yes, I do. Was recorded the Hartford Civic Center in the Nassau Coliseum. Yeah, Hartford Civic Center on the Fifth, and Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York, On the next night, September six, and what they did was that they released this as a six CD box set, and it's really incredible stuff. We're with Bob and Rob, and so what we're going to do is we're going to open the show with the first night of Bob Weir and Rob Wasserman as you know the early rat dog from September 5th. After that, we're going to play the entire Jerry Garcia show from that same night. And to finish off the show tonight, we're going to finish off with Bob and Rob from the next night at Nassau Coliseum. And the only there's only one song that's a that's a repeat anywhere in the set, and that's fever. So we're going to jump straight into this because we need to. I am George Lyons, and you are listening to the Lions Den, and get ready for this. Here's Bob and Rob recorded live at the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Connecticut, on the fifth of September, 1989. I'll be back after to talk more about this. Enjoy the show, and thanks for tuning in. Turned it up. You're in the din.

Bless my soul, I love you. Bless my soul, I care. When you put your arms around me, I get a feeling that's so hard to bear. You give me fever when you kiss me, fever when you hold me tight, fever in the morning, fever all through the night. Listen to me, baby. Hear every word I say. No one's gonna love you the way I do, 'cause they don't know how to love you my way. Give you fever when I kiss you, and fever when I hold you tight. Fever, fever in the morning, fever rolls through the night. Sun lights up the daytime, moving lights. up the night. My eyes light up when you call my name, 'cause you know you're gonna treat me right. Give me fever when you catch me. Fever when you hold me tight. Fever. Fever roll through the night. King B loves his honey. Queen B feels the same. Ain't no queen whose honey's sweeter, and you know it drives me quite insane. It gives me fever when you get hit, fever when you hold me tight, fever in the morning, fever all through the night. Bless my soul, I love you. Bless my soul, I care. When you put your arms around me, I get a feeling that's so hard to bear. You give me fever when you get sleep. Fever when you hold me tight, fever. I'm on an old fever all through the night,

Speaker 7 12:47
all through the night, fever all through the night, all

Speaker 2 12:55
through the night, fever.

Speaker 7 13:03
All through the night. All through the night.

Speaker 2 13:27
So we're gonna do another old tune. Well, I thought I heard that Casey went to moan. Thought I heard that Casey went to moan. Thought I heard that kiss it with your mom. Will she sound like she got a heavy load? Guessing when I get back on that K zero, when I get back on that K zero. When I get back on that Casey roll, I'm gonna love my woman like I never loved before. Yes, I thought I heard that kissy word you moan. Thought I heard that kissy would you love, Lord? I heard that kissy would you love? Would she sound like she's got a heavy load? They're selling postcards of the hanging. They're painting the passports brown. Beauty parlors filled with sailors. Circuses in town. it wants the blind commissioner. They've got him in a trance. One hand is tied to the tightrope walker. The other is in his pants, and their eyes quiet. they're restless. They need somewhere to go as Lydia and I look out tonight on Desolation Road. Cinderella, she seems so easy. Takes one to know when she smiles, puts her hands in her back pockets. Betty Dave's smiles, and in what Romeo he's holding, you belong to me. I believe someone says you're in the wrong place, my friend.

Speaker 8 18:54
You better leave. The

Speaker 2 18:57
only sound you can hear after the ambulances go, Cinderella sweeping up on desolation road. No Ophelia, she's neath the window. For her, I feel so afraid. On her 22nd birthday, she already is an old maid. To her death, it's quite romantic. She wears an iron vest. Her profession's her religion. Her sin is her lifelessness. Though her gaze is fixed upon gourd's great rainbow. She spends her time peeping on this oldish road. Now the sun, the moon, it's almost hidden. The stars are beginning to hide. Fortune-telling lady has already taken all the things inside, all except for Cain and Abel and the hunchback of Notre Dame. Everybody's either making love or else expecting rain, and the Good Samaritan-he's dressing, he's getting ready for the show. He's going down to the carnival tonight on desolation road. Blind spine discusses Robin Hood with his memories in a trunk. Passed this way an hour ago with his friend, a jealous monk. Oh, he looked so immaculately frightful as he bummed a cigarette. India went off sniffing grain pipes. Enter reciding the alphabet. Well, you wouldn't think to look at him, but he was famous long ago. We're playing electric violin on desolation road, Doctor Phil. he keeps his world inside of a leather cup, and all his sexless patients-they're all trying to blow it up. His nurse, some local loser, she's in charge of the cyanide hole. She also keeps the cards that read "Have mercy on his soul. Yes, they all play on the penny whistle. Yes, or you can hear them blow. if you lean your head out far and unlock desolation road across the street they've nailed the curtains they're getting ready for the feast, Phantom of the Opera in the perfect image of a priest, and they're spoon feeding Casanova to get him to feel more assured that they'll kill him with self-confidence after poisoning him with words, and the fandom shouting, "Two skinny girls, get out of here! You don't know Casanova's just been punished. We're going to desolvation room now at midnight. All the agents and this superhuman crew-they going round up everyone who knows more than they do. Then they take them to the factory where the heart attack machine strapped across their shoulders. Then the kerosene is brought down from the castles by insurance men who go to make sure nobody's escaping to desolation road. Oh, praise be to thee, Rose Neptune! The Titanic sails at dawn, and everybody's shouting. Which side are you on, Ezra Pound and T.S. Eliot? They're fighting in the captain's tower, while Calypso singers laugh at them, and fishermen throw flowers between the windows of the sea, where only mermaids flow, and no one has to think too much about isolation roads. I received your letter yesterday. About the time the doorknob broke, when you asked how I was doing,

Speaker 7 25:56
was that some kind of joke?

Speaker 2 26:00
All these people that you mentioned, yes, I know that they're quite lame. I have to rearrange their faces, if you will, all another name. Right now, I can't read too good. Don't send me no more. Let us know. Not unless you mail them desolation road. A

Speaker 6 27:16
woke a day built your side of bed. The

Speaker 2 27:27
covers were still worn

Speaker 6 27:30
where you believe.

Speaker 4 27:35
You were gone.

Speaker 6 27:42
My heart was filled with dread.

Speaker 2 27:49
You might not be sleeping here again, but it's alright 'cause I love you. That's not gonna change. Run me 'round, make me hurt again and again. But I'll still sing your love song. But I'll still sing your love written in the letters of your name. Through the storm to come, boy, it surely looks like rain. Did you ever waken to the sound

Speaker 6 28:50
of street cats making love?

Speaker 2 28:56
And guess from their cries, you were listening to a fight

Speaker 6 29:05
where you know

Speaker 2 29:12
it's just the last thing they're thinking of. They're only trying to make it through the night.

Speaker 7 30:16
I don't wanna hold you.

Speaker 9 30:21
I don't wanna jot you down

Speaker 2 30:28
or offense you in the lights. I might have dropped.

Speaker 6 30:36
It's just that I have. I've gotten used to having you around.

Speaker 2 30:50
My landscape would be empty if you were gone, but it's all right 'cause I love you. That's not gonna change. Run me 'round, make me hurt again and again and again. But I still sing your love song written in the letters of your name. And breathe the storm to come, for it surely looks like rain. Yes, and for the storm to come, for it surely looks like night. Breathe

Speaker 7 32:00
the storm to come, oh, it surely looks like rain.

Speaker 3 32:08
City sure it looks like rain,

Speaker 2 32:15
dreaming great, and it looks like rain. Here it comes again. Here come the rain. green, it looks like rain. Here it comes again. Here it comes again. Here comes the rain. Turning green, it looks like rain. Here come again. Here comes the rain. the rain. Here comes the rain. Turning green looks like rain. Here come again. Say it again. Turning green looks like rain. Here come again. Here come again. I can't stand. I can't stand it. No, get coming rain. I can't stand it. No, turn it green. It looks like rain. Yeah, come again. Yeah, come and rain. Get coming. Get coming. Get coming. Recommend. We got to take a moment here and tune up. I think. Much better. Tell you

Speaker 10 34:34
what. Let's do the

Speaker 11 34:38
winners for you. What is the

Speaker 2 35:06
morrow who rides may read when the night is thick in the tracks of blind? A friend in a bitch is a friend indeed, but a fool to wait for the laggard behind. Down to Gehenna, or up to the throat, he travels the fastest to travels alone. White hands cling to a tightened rein, slipping a spa from a booted heel. Tenderest voices cry turn again. Red lips garnish the scabbarded steel. My hopes beat on a warm hospital. He travels the fastest who travels alone. One man fold might fold by himself, fold by himself for himself to play. One man tame. AMS pal, loot of the city in gold or fame, blunder of earth. Trivial years old, who travels the fastest and travels alone. One man fold, body fold by himself, fold by himself with himself in flame. One man tame and a man's belt, loot of the city and gold of fame, plunder of earth. Truly, all alone travels the fastest and travels alone. Wherefore, the more ye be hoping and stayed, stayed by a friend in the hour of toil. Sing this heretical song I have made. His be the labor, yours be the spoil. Win by his aid, and his age is old. He travels the fastest to travels alone.

Speaker 9 37:47
Travels alone.

Speaker 2 37:51
He travels the fastest to travel slow. Alone travels alone. He travels the fastest who travels alone. Alone travels alone. He travels the fastest who travels alone. alone. Patience runs out on the junkie. The ducksight hires another soul. Did he steal his fate or earn it? Was he forced fair? Did he learn it? Whatever happened to his precious self-control? Like him, I'm tired of trying to heal this tom-cat heart with which I'm blessed. His destruction of his twin? Must not choose to lose or win. Maybe when my turn comes, I will guess. These are the horns of the dilemma. What truth is proof against all lies? When sacred fails before profane, the wisest men is deemed as sane. Even the purest of romantics compromise. What fixation feeds this fever, fever, as the full moon pales and climbs? Am I living truth or a deceiver? Am I the victim or the crime? Am I the victim or the crime? Am I the victim or the crime or the crime? And so I wrestle with the angel to see who reaps the seeds I sow. Am I the driver or the driven? Will I be damned to be forgiven? Is there anybody here but me who needs to know what it is that feeds this evening? it is that feeds a thiever as the full moon pales and climbs? Am I living truth or right deceiver? Am I the victim or the crime? Am I the victim for the crime? Am I the victim of the crime? Am I the victim for the crime? For the crime. Gonna leave it with Rob Wasserman. Picture a bright blue ball just spinning, spinning, crazy, teasing with eternity. Paint it with the skin of sky. Brush in some clouds and see. Call it home for you and me. A peaceful place. Our sore looks from space. A closer look reveals the human race. Full of hope, full of grace is the human face, but afraid we barely are home to waste. There's a fear down here we can't forget. Hasn't got a name just yet. Always awake, always around. Singing ashes, ashes all fall down. Singing ashes, ashes, all fall down. Now watch as the power falls and the nighttime falls. In again the heart begins, and again the blood wind calls. Bye and by again, the morning sun will rise, but the darkness never goes from some man's eyes when the Nourse rolls the sunwalks and it rolls the streets, stinging dead, dividing up me too. Nightmare smooth piece of heat. It's your name, you and me. Quick flashblade didn't get all night. Rudy's looking for a fight. Rat can ally roll them bones. Need that cash to feed that Jones and the politicians throwing stones, singing ashes, ashes off all down, singing ashes, ashes up, fall down. Chromisars and pinstripe bosses roll the dice. Anyway, they fall. It's who gets to pay the price. Money green or roller, Derek Gray. Selling guns instead of food a day. So the kids they dance and shake their bones, and the politicians throwing stones, singing ashes, ashes all fall down, singing ashes, ashes all fall down. Heartless powers try to tell us what to think. If the spirit's sleeping, then the flesh is ink. History's page will be carved in stone. The future's here. We are it. We are on our own. On our own. On our own. On our own. On our own. On

Speaker 9 52:01
our own. hour. One hour.

Speaker 2 53:49
If the game is lost, we're all the same. No one left to place or take the blame. We will leave this place an empty stove. Well, that shining ball of blue we can call our home. So the kids they dance, they shake their bones, and the politicians throwing stones, singing ashes, ashes all fall down, singing. Shipping powders back and forth, singing black goes south and white comes north and over. In a whole world of petty wars, swinging I got mine and you got yours. The current fashion set the pace. Who's your step? Who's your step? A radical blue rhymes and rage. Singing someone got to turn the page. A lyric shine in his summer hall. Singing justly well enough for love. His lights are down, his colors blonde, blonde, blonde, and the politicians throwing stones. So the kids they dance and shake their bones, 'cause it's all too clear we're on our own. Singing ashes, ashes, all falling ashes, picture of bright blue, all just spinning, spinning frays, dizzying the possibilities. We

are listener-supported, 91.5 KUNVHD1, broadcasting from Greenspun Hall on the campus of UNLV, 91.5 on the FM dial, streaming at kunv.org. I'm George Lyons, and if you're just tuning in, welcome to the Lions Den. And we just finished up the opening of the show, which was Bob Weir and Rob Wasserman recorded live at the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Connecticut, on the fifth of September, 1989, and and yeah, I did do a little bit of research. Rat Dog didn't start till 1995, but Rob, Bob, and Rob were doing their thing in the late 80s into the 90s. So what we heard in that set of music was opened up with Festival into Fever, Casimone, Desolation Row, Looks Like Rain, The Winners, Victim of the Crime, the Wasserman Bass Solo, or Bass Improvisation Number One, and finished off with Throwing Stones. What we're going to go into right now is from that same night, the Jerry Garcia Band. We're going to hear the first set and the second set. I'll be back after the first set to back announce the set of music. But this was released back in 2013 as the Long Island Sound, a six CD set of two nights of Bob and Rob opening up for the Jerry Garcia Band. They did a couple of tours, but this tour through the East Coast and was well documented, obviously, and really good stuff. So now we're going to hear the Jerry Garcia Band from that same night, same venue, Hartford Civic Center, Hartford, Connecticut. Here's Jerry Garcia and his band recorded live on September 5, 1989. I like this. I'm George Lyons. Make no mistake about it. You're in the Lions Den. Turn it up. Enjoy the concert. Get down under the star. Catch down under the stars.

Speaker 12 59:32
Everyone plays guitar that sounds like mathematics. you ready yet to go to bed? Take a walk, then tell you sleep. Cast down under the stars. Cap down

Speaker 5 1:00:13

Speaker 12 1:00:32
Cats on the bandstand, give 'em each a big hand. Anyone who sweats like that must be all right. No one wants to fight. No black eyes. Just another cat under the stars tonight. Cats down. down under the stars. Cats down under the stars. Catching the limelight feels like it's all right. Everybody wants something they might not get. I ain't ready yet. It ain't complete. That's why I'm headed down Advocate Street. Cast down under the stars. Catch down under the stars. Satin clause unboxing. Satin clouds unbox me. Dave is a stripper doing it just for you. Time there's a stripper doing it just for you. Memory of the brass tacks. Cover up your tracks, Jack. Ain't nowhere till you can make your money back. What else do you like to make it right? Cats down under the stars tonight. Catch down

Speaker 5 1:06:21
under the star. That's down under the star. Catch down under the stars. Catch down under the stars. That's down under the star. That's down under the star.

Speaker 12 1:08:21
Everyone around, sailing up and down, looking for a shaft in some direction. From the top, don't know where to stand. Lord, you know they need a fine connection. The future.

Speaker 13 1:09:04
Oh, you can see that it's true. Oh, you can see that it's true. Oh, you can see that it's true.

Speaker 12 1:09:31
He could pass his time around some other line, but you know he chose this place beside. Don't get me in the way. There's nothing you can say loving that you. And love each other. Oh, you can see

Speaker 5 1:10:16
that it's true. All you can see

Speaker 13 1:10:24
that it's true. Oh, you can see that it's true.

Speaker 12 1:12:59
Big swing. it's like a diesel chain. It better not be there when it rolls over, and that train pulls me, but before. won't know where it's been. Gotta try to see a little further. Love each other,

Speaker 13 1:13:40
Lord. All you can see that is true. All you can see that

Speaker 5 1:13:58
is true. All you can see That is true. Oh,

Speaker 13 1:14:05
you can see that it's true.

Speaker 12 1:15:14
Waking and waiting in the hot sun. With all the rich saints and the fallen ones working and waiting for the night to come up, and the they're waiting for a, and they're waiting for a, and they're waiting for a miracle. Somewhere out there is a place that's cool. Where peace and balance are the rules, working for the future like some kind of Mystic Jew, in the waiting for us, in the waiting for, and the way for miracles. You run the palm of your hand on the cabbie pane in the hustle. You can see your way. waiting. You stand up tall, pretend you're strong, in the hopes that you can be. Like the ones that sigh, like the ones that die, trying to set the angel in us free. In the

Speaker 5 1:17:08
waiting for a, in the waiting for a near window.

Speaker 14 1:18:40
You have your palm in your hand on the ground and pain in the hopes that you could see. When you're waiting,

Speaker 12 1:18:50
you stand up tall, pretend you're strong in the hopes that you will be. When you're waiting, like I once had cry, like I once had died, trying to set the angel in us free. And I'm waiting for a, and I'm waiting for, and I'm waiting for a miracle. Struggle for a nickel, scuffle for a dime. Forget about the past till your troubles become. How long the future takes such a long long time when you're waiting for us? When you're waiting for us? When you're waiting for a miracle?

Speaker 11 1:20:01
When you're waiting for hope, when you're waiting for hope, when you're waiting for a miracle, when you're waiting for us, when you're waiting for a, when you're waiting for a miracle. Run, run,

Speaker 13 1:21:46
run for the roses. Quicker it opens, sooner it closes. Man, oh, man, old friend of mine, all good things and all good time.

Speaker 12 1:22:02
Reach for the stars, catch for the sun. Don't too heavy, but what can you do? Reach for the stars, smack into the sky. You don't wanna live for the chicken to die. The chicken to die. Run, run, run for

Speaker 8 1:22:26
the

Speaker 13 1:22:31
road. It opens, sure it closes. Man, oh man, oh friend, I'm mine. All good things, all the time.

Speaker 12 1:22:46
Run short of money, call jollore. Make ideas, but the cash is all speed. Your love is inside the face. day. You just want to come when you don't want the rain. Oh, you don't want the rain.

Speaker 13 1:23:15
Man, oh man, oh friend, come on. all the days of the time.

Speaker 12 1:25:42
Who's where the rose gets caught on the bride? The moment you love next thing there's a fire. You got the door ready, I got the lead. I got the notion where. to see.

Speaker 13 1:26:06
Yes, we are at sea. Run, run, run through the roses. Quicker it opens, clear it closes. Man, oh man, old friend, the night all good things in all my time. Run, run and run for the roses quicker it opens, sooner it closes. And open, open wide. All good things in all my time. Run, run and run for the roses. Quicker it opens. opens, sooner it closes. That old man, old friend of mine, all good things in all good times, all good things in all good times.

Speaker 12 1:28:05
When the road gets too long, and you run all out of song. And the pain is too much for you to bear. Turn around. Turn around, turn around, turn around like a moon.

Speaker 13 1:29:04
Let the road

Speaker 12 1:29:18
that road lead the old. up, and the road you champion on doesn't seem to be your way anywhere. Turn around. Turn around,

Speaker 13 1:30:04
turn around

Speaker 9 1:30:13
like a roar,

Speaker 13 1:30:18
like a roar.

Speaker 11 1:30:22
Leading home. The Greek home

Speaker 12 1:30:56
starts to bloom, and you need somewhere to go, and you want some company that really cares.

Speaker 11 1:31:29
Turn, turn around, turn around. Like a road, like a road leading home. When the road

Speaker 13 1:34:41
gets too low,

Speaker 12 1:34:46
and you run all out of song, and the pain. That's too much for you to bear. Turn around. Turn around,

Speaker 13 1:35:25
turn around

Speaker 11 1:35:34
like a

Speaker 13 1:35:38
rose, like a rose. legal,

Speaker 8 1:35:54
like grow,

Speaker 12 1:35:59
like grow. Oh, leading home. Oh, I say to my sisters and my brothers, keep the faith when the storm flies and the wind blows, go on at a steady pace. When the battle is fought and the victory is won, we can all shout together. We have overcome. We'll talk to the Father and the Son when we make it to the promised land, we walk together, little children. We don't ever have to worry through this world of trouble. We gotta love one another. Let us take our fellow man by the hand. Try to help him to understand we can all be together forever and ever when we make it to the promised land. A Bible. Of Bible reads, thou shalt not be afraid of the terror by night, nor the arrow that dies by chain, nor for the pestilence that walketh in the darkness, Nourse for the destruction that waiteth in the new day out. If we walk together, little children, we don't ever have to worry through this world of trouble. We gotta love one another. Let us take our fellow man by the hand, try to help him to understand we can all be together forever and ever, when we make it to the promised land. This world is not our home. We're only passing through. My trail is all made up, way beyond the blue. Let us do the merry. The best that we can while we're traveling through this land, we can all be together shaking our hand when we make it to the promised land. When we make it to the promised land, make it to the promised land. Make it to the promised land, children. Make it to the promised land. Make it to the promised land. Make it to the promised land. Jerry Garcia Band, ladies and gentlemen, another ripping set of music. That was set number two from september 5, 1989, from the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Connecticut. Started off second set with a short tuning into "Hearted They Come, Mission in the rain, forever young, Evangeline Gamora, an amazing don't let go, and finished off with lonesome and a long way from home. Wow, the Jerry Garcia band at this particular time, excuse me, was of course Jerry Garcia on guitar vocals, John Kahn on bass, David Kemper was handling the drum work at this point. Of course, Melvin Seals on the organ, and Gloria Jones and Jacqueline Labranche on the backing vocals. One of the finer versions of the Jerry Garcia Band, just amazing stuff. Like I have been saying, all of this music that you are hearing tonight has been released as a box set, the Long Island Sound, which was a limited edition and sold out immediately. A limited edition of 750 collectible copies. I think that they may have done some actual CD copies, but the collection collectible box, which had artwork from an original artwork from Stanley Mouse, and each one of them originally are hand numbered and signed by Mouse, and really amazing, amazing packaging. What we're going to hear to close out the night is also in this box set, which what it is is it's two shows from the fifth in Hartford, and from the next night on September 6 at the Nassau County Coliseum Arena in Uniondale, New York, I saw a few Grateful Dead shows there, and was kind of a pit, but a great place to actually see a show. And as I had said, Bob Bob Weir and Rob Wasserman had been opening on this tour, and so what I'm going to play for you is Bob and Rob's set from the following night of playing some music that we haven't played here on the Lions Den before, and I'm sure that a lot of you people out there probably got a chance to see Bob and Rob back in the day, and it was really truly unique, and Rob Wasserman just a really nice, approachable man in his own right, and an incredible, incredible bass player. So here's Bob Weir and Rob Wasserman from the Nassau County Coliseum Arena in Uniondale, New York, recorded on September 6, 1989. Be back at the end of the show to recap everything. I'm George Lyons. You're in the Lions Den. Turn it up.

Speaker 2 3:00:06
Oh, up this morning, and I built around for my shoes. That's when I knew I had them. Luck can bloom someone this morning. Look around, and I built around for my shoes. That swimming do I help them out? Me no walk in love. Will I feel most like blowing my luck? I'm home. Woke up this morning when I had what's gonna leave

Speaker 3 3:00:44
my own soul.

Speaker 2 3:00:51
Woke up this morning, my little town was gone. That was gone. Leave it in the morning if I have to ride it blind. Will I be in this ticket and I dun lie down on leave? Leave it if I have to. Ride it blind. We'll be mistreated, and I don't mind dying. I don't mind mine. Well, some people tell you they're walking. Blues ain't bad. It is a worst cold feeling I'm on ever had. Some people tell you walking blues ain't so bad. Worst gold medals ever had in the matter.

That's when I knew a heather-looking place. Up this morning, I look around and I feel the rugs on the shoes. That's when I knew what happened. I mean, I walked blues, walking blues, walking blues, walking blues,

Speaker 6 3:03:39
walking blue. Walking blood. Walking

Speaker 3 3:04:01
blood.

Speaker 2 3:04:10
That's when I knew I had come on me now, walking blues. City girls, they're not the same. Different breed, give 'em a different man. Such strutting sass, grow and play the class. It's their court. They're balling their game. Oh, they know so much better than you. What you gonna think? What you gonna do? And they turn it on. They leave no doubt, no doubt. They were old when the world was new,

Speaker 4 3:08:04

Fever, fever in the morning, fever all through the night. This. to me, baby. Hear every word I say. Know I'm gonna love you the way I do, 'cause they don't know how to love you my way. Give you fever. When I get still in the fever, when I hold you tight, fever, fever, morning, fever all through the night. Sun lights up the daytime, moving lights up at night. My eyes light up when you call my name, 'cause you know you're gonna treat me right in the fever. When you kiss me in the fever when you hold me tight, fever. All through the night. King Bee loves his honey. Queen Bee feels the same. Ain't no queen whose honey's sweeter, and you know it drives me quite insane and gives me fever. Well, you cast me with fever when you hold me tight? Fever in the morning, fever all through the night. Sun lights up the daytime, moon lights up the night. My eyes light up when you call my name, 'cause I know you're gonna treat me right in getting a fever. Will you catch me in fever when you hold me tight? Fever, come on and. It's too early to go home. to the home,

but up here in the sky, all their dreams will be realized. This one was written by Rudyard Kipling. What is the model who rides may read when the night is thick and the tracks are blind? A friend in a pitch is a friend indeed, but a fool to wait for the laggard behind. Down to Gehenna or up to the throne, he travels the fastest who travels alone. White hands cling to a tightened rein, slipping a spa from a booted heel. Tenderest voices. cry turn again. Red lips tarnish the scabbard and steel. I hope faint won't host to him. He travels the fastest to travels alone. One man four, but he falls by itself, falls by itself within a self-blame. One may tame and aim his bell. Root of the city in gold or fame, wonder of earth should be all his own. Who travels the fastest and travels alone? One man bold, body bold by himself, bold by himself with himself to blame. One may tame and aim his help. Looted the city and gold or fame. Plunder of earth should be all his own. Who travels the fastest and travels alone? Wherefore the more he'd be hoping and stayed, stayed by a friend in the hour of toil. Sing this heretical song I have played. His be the labor, yours be the spoil. Win by his aid, and his aid is owned. He travels the fastest who travels alone. Travel alone. He travels the fastest. Who travels alone? Who alone travels alone? He travels the fastest who travels alone. Hold on, travels along. He travels the fastest who travels alone. It's so easy to slip. It's so easy to fall. Let your memory drift and do nothing at all. All the love that you missed, all the people that you can't recall-do they really exist at all?

Speaker 6 3:30:41

Speaker 4 3:30:50
All magic's got away,

Speaker 2 3:30:56

Speaker 4 3:31:20
It's so easy to sleep. It's so easy to woe.

Speaker 2 3:31:27
Let your memory dread and do nothing at all. Oh, that you missed all the people you can't, that you can't, can't recover. Oh, I don't want to live forever in the shadow. You're leaving me. so I, another city, I'm trying to remember to forget.

Speaker 3 3:32:30

Speaker 3 3:33:00
Easy to slip down. Easy to pull. Easy to slip down. Easy to fall. Easy to slap now. Easy to fall. Easy to slap now. Easy to fall. Easy to fall. Easy to slip now. Easy to vote. Easy to slip down. Easy to fall. Easy to slip down. Easy to fall. Easy to slip now. Easy to fall.

Speaker 15 3:36:13
blood so easy, so easy, blood so easy, almost so easy.

And so there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. Bob Weir and Rob Wasserman recorded live at Nassau County Coliseum in Uniondale, New York, on the sixth of September, 1989. Just heard. Walking Blues into City Girls Fever, which was the only repeat of the evening. They had done that the previous night in Hartford. Blackbird, beautiful version. When I paint my masterpiece, always great to hear Bobby sing that shade of gray, classic Weir Barlow track. The winners, one of my all-time favorite tunes to hear Bob Weir cover, easy to slip the Lowell George and Martin Kibby track, old little feet track. The Wasserman bass improvisation number two, and the final track was "Heaven Help the Fool. So for the last four hours, ladies and gentlemen, you have been listening to the Lions Den. My name is George Lyons, and it is my distinct pleasure to bring this music to you every Sunday. No such thing as bad music because if you like it, who's to tell you it's bad? Music's like food. Some people like Brussels sprouts. Some people don't. But it's not to say that they're not good. Turn people on to the music that you're listening to, check out what they're checking out. Open your head up to more music; it's good for you. So, thanks for tuning in. If you're not already my friend on Facebook, I am George Ove Lyons on Facebook, and you can like the Lions Den radio show, and you can like KUNV. We have our own pages. Like to hear from our listeners. So Las Vegas world, wherever it is, however it is, and whenever it is, you're tuned into this radio broadcast on this great radio station. Like I like to tell you every Sunday, right about this time, and that is that you take care of your brothers and your sisters, but most of all, gosh darn it, you take care of yourself. There ain't nobody else out there that's going to do it for you. Have yourself a great week. See you back on the radio next Sunday.
