James Cromwell reads “Ladies' Zoom” by Lore Segal
Hello and welcome to WORDTheatre Weekly where great authors and great actors meet! I’m your host, Cedering Fox, WORDTheatre's Founder & Artistic Director.
Today we continue to honor the life and legacy of Lore Segal, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 96. We are pleased to share with you a little gem performed by James Cromwell, from her most recent book, Ladies' Lunch, a collection of 16 stories featuring old friends who have loved and lunched together for over 40 years. The book came out in the fall of 2023 to great acclaim.
Today we will be sharing James Cromwell's reading of “Ladies' Zoom," a story set in the most contemporary of settings that we are all perhaps a little too familiar with in the post-pandemic era, but Lore's classic sense of humor and acute observational prowess are still fully on display. We are so lucky that this extraordinary author was in attendance to experience James' performance at the WORDTheatre's 20th Anniversary Celebration in Manhattan on October 19th, 2023.
James Cromwell is an Emmy Award winning actor, known for his roles in television shows such as Succession, American Horror Story: Asylum, and ER, and films such as Babe, L.A. Confidential, and The Green Mile.
Please note that WORDTheatre holds the copyright to these recordings and no portion of anything you hear on the short story podcast may be reproduced without permission.
And now, here is James Cromwell performing Lore Segal’s, “Ladies' Zoom.”
