Beyond Brief Daily — I'm Michael Benatar. AI, tech, business. Let's get into it.

Anthropic is eyeing a $2 trillion IPO in October. Two trillion. If it lands there, it would be the largest initial public offering in history — bigger than SpaceX, bigger than anything Wall Street has ever seen from a tech company. Backers are projecting a tenfold revenue increase in twelve months, and the company just posted its first-ever operating profit. The underwriters are Morgan Stanley, Goldman, and JPMorgan. Three months ago, Anthropic was valued at under a trillion. Now investors are pricing in a 2x from there. There's regulatory risk — the Trump administration flagged Anthropic as a supply-chain risk, and export controls forced them to pull their top models earlier this year. But none of that has slowed the revenue. When this IPO goes, frontier AI gets a public price tag for the first time. Watch this one closely.

Speaking of infrastructure bets — Nvidia just disclosed a $21 billion stake in SpaceX, part of a broader set of strategic corporate holdings that have turned a chipmaker into one of the most powerful investors in tech. The SpaceX position came through Nvidia's earlier investment in xAI, before SpaceX acquired xAI in February. In exchange, SpaceX has committed to using Nvidia chips exclusively in its data centers. This isn't passive investing — it's a chip-for-equity alliance at a scale we haven't seen before. Nvidia keeps ending up at the center of every major AI infrastructure deal.

I go deeper on the AI infrastructure trade every morning in the newsletter — theBeyondbrief.com if you want it in your inbox.

OpenAI and Cerebras just launched Ultrafast mode for GPT-5.6 Sol — 750 output tokens per second. That's 14 times faster than standard processing. Same model, same quality on benchmarks, just running on Cerebras wafer-scale hardware with an order-of-magnitude speed advantage. Speed is becoming the competitive dimension that matters most for agentic workflows, real-time voice, and financial research. Smarter models are getting harder to distinguish — faster models are immediately obvious. Do the math on what 14x speed means if you're running agents at scale all day.

Google dropped Gemini 3.7 Flash and cut the price in half versus the version that launched three weeks ago. Three weeks. The coding benchmark jump is real — FrontierCode climbed 10 points, DeepSWE jumped 16. Google is shipping fast and pricing aggressively to hold developer attention against OpenAI and Anthropic. Smart move. The still-missing Gemini 3.5 Pro is becoming an awkward story, but 3.7 Flash doesn't need it to be competitive right now.

Separately, Gemini hit 1 billion monthly active users. Sundar Pichai called it Google's fastest-growing product ever. ChatGPT crossed the same threshold around the same time. Both of the top two AI assistants at a billion users simultaneously — that's not a niche anymore. That's mass market, and it happened faster than anyone projected.

Now for the pricing story that caught me off guard. DeepSeek just raised prices 93% — from $0.14 to $0.27 per million tokens. At the same time, OpenAI cut GPT-5.6 Luna by 80% and made it the free default on ChatGPT. DeepSeek was supposed to be the company that wrecked Western AI economics by undercutting on price. Instead, they're raising prices while OpenAI races to the bottom. Wrong narrative. The entire thesis around Chinese AI commoditizing frontier models has flipped in two weeks.

One more — Uber and Pony.ai are rolling out more than 2,000 robotaxis across Europe. Most AV news has been U.S. and China. Europe is now on the map. Uber's approach is consistent: be the network layer, let the autonomy partners own the hardware. They're not building cars. They're building the operating system for fleets.

What connects the biggest stories today is timing. The Anthropic IPO and the Nvidia-SpaceX alliance are happening at the same moment, and that's not accidental. Before frontier AI gets a public price tag, the companies that control the compute stack are locking in their positions. Nvidia isn't just selling chips — it's buying equity in the customers who can't afford to leave. By the time Anthropic rings the bell, the infrastructure layer underneath it will already be spoken for.
