Action. Yeah. Action.

It's me, your game show host, Isaac Allen Burns, here on this exciting GCN channel game show that we're here to play. Here to guess some random trivia is one Holly Baker.

Speaker 4:

I'm gonna say it's blue.

Speaker 3:

Survey says, ding. Oh, you've won $10 pretax. Yay. Well done. Well done.

Speaker 3:

Yay. Alright. Stepping up to the Plinko machine is one. Joe Diomede.

Speaker 2:

Big money. Big money. Big money.

Speaker 3:

Oh. Oh, and it's landed on $15. Pretax. Oh, that's very exciting. What's another game show?

Speaker 3:

Oh. I totally lost all game show. Stepping up to that Nickelodeon game show that's like Wipeout is one Rowan Collins.

Speaker 1:

How did I

Speaker 2:

have to

Speaker 1:

thousand? Okay.

Speaker 3:

That's And finally, here to guess what the price is is one Rachel Baker.

Speaker 4:

$1. $1 strategy.

Speaker 3:

It's a strategy. And then Bob Barker or Drew Carrier, whoever it is now, looks at the board and turns out the item in question, which was a tank of gas, is actually $50. Everyone guessed higher. So you win.

Speaker 1:

Hey. Wow.

Speaker 3:

Incredible. Amazing. Don't you love when you have a thought for something and suddenly all examples of that thing kinda leave your brain? That's really great.

Speaker 1:

I'm really happy to meet you.

Speaker 3:

But we got there. Secrets of the hidden temple.

Speaker 1:

That's what it is.

Speaker 3:

There we go.

Speaker 4:

I actually thought about that, but I wasn't sure if you wanted to call it out

Speaker 3:

by name. I had to find it. He had get there

Speaker 2:

for himself.

Speaker 4:

Legends legends

Speaker 1:

of the

Speaker 3:

hidden temple. Legends of the hidden temple. I can see the comments now incensed reminding me what it is. And all I have to say to that, Kiel, start the episode. Start the music.

Speaker 3:

Gang, what an adventure we had last time. By that, I mean, what a fun time y'all had in therapy. That's right. A brand new initiative straight from the top, the Regulus branch of the Adventuring Guild has instituted now manual mental check ins both for new adventurers such as two of our new guests, one Willow as played by Holly and one Argus as played by Rachel, as well as post large missions for veterans, such as our two veterans who I don't need to name. You know them.

Speaker 3:

You love them probably. After their mental sessions though, after some mental check ins and after some flashbacks to the past to see how they've been doing so far, our heroes found out that some trouble was afoot because a certain someone was causing a bit of a ruckus out in the markets. Traveling there, they found that none other than Antony Zechtan, the youngest child, youngest son of one Edmunds Eshton, who you remember as, unfortunately, a bad guy at the end of season two. What do you do? Acting out because his dad was gone and his older brother was busy, y'all were able to pull him off of the roof of the poor shopkeep who was being harassed.

Speaker 3:

And you were making your way through the markets when one of you noticed a strange black shadow in the alleyway. The instinct was high enough last time Willow that you see in the alleyway this black shadow, But that's what you see. That's what you notice. The four of you are in sort of a market district, sort of the shopping district almost of this place. You can see rows of buildings on either side.

Speaker 3:

You can hear the river in the distance as it's going. And, you know, before we get too far deep into this though, there is something I did wanna bring back around because if you recall, we established a little bit about Algenabai last season. In fact, two people sitting here described some things that went into an environmental stat block that I'll explain in a second. However, we have two new guests. Mhmm.

Speaker 3:

And I wanna give you all a chance to add a little bit to Algenabad.

Speaker 2:

That's cool. Cool. That's awesome.

Speaker 3:

So in this moment right now, you're walking through the markets. What's been established so far? I'll just narrate to you now. At your feet are cobblestones that are bumpy and rich. The roofs of the buildings are mission style.

Speaker 3:

So it's kind of like that clay upside down cylindrical style that people can get good footing and hide on pretty easily. Additionally, just in another direction of the city is the arts district wherein is a coffee shop called the Morning Pages, a coffee shop that just so happens to have recently started selling milkshakes. Isn't that exciting?

Speaker 4:

Wow. The

Speaker 3:

cobblestones, you feel like as you're looking at the cobblestones, if you were to go into a breakneck sprint on these cobblestones, maybe it'd be a little more difficult to keep your footing. But if you went on those ceilings, it might be a little easier to hide. And this is how me, the GM, is giving clues to my players of the mechanics around this environmental stat block, which for those who don't know, hi. It's me, your GM Isaac Allen Burns, here to tell you about environment stat blocks. Many of us are familiar with adversary stat blocks.

Speaker 3:

It is a helpful little block of text and sometimes pictures in a rule book that gives us the information we need to know to run a certain adversary. Maybe their difficulty, maybe some moves and attacks that they have, maybe even some experiences that those monsters have. However, on the flip side, there are also environments that have stat blocks such as the provincial capital of Algenapai. These stat blocks include certain impulses around theming these stat blocks, and they also contain some moves both active and passive that the GM can take to grow and fill out a scene using the stat block. Now I'm offering our two new people a chance to add to that.

Speaker 3:

And so, in, in just all good fun, why don't both of you roll a dice for me?

Speaker 2:

I saw Holly's roll.

Speaker 1:

A nine. A

Speaker 3:

nine. What'd you get, Holly?

Speaker 1:

One. A

Speaker 3:

one and a nine. So, Rachel Yes. Add to the scene. Tell us a little more about Algenabai that maybe Argus would notice whereas the others wouldn't have. It doesn't even have to be in this current merchant district either.

Speaker 3:

It could be something that Argus has just noticed about the city or the ports or the river or anything, really.

Speaker 4:

I think he would enjoy that the city has really good plumbing.

Speaker 1:

Oh. Oh.

Speaker 4:

Because that is something ships have to worry about. Yeah. The only problem is that there are bars on all of the, like, pipes leading out to the ocean. So the only way out is through gates,

Speaker 3:

which are watched. They're watched?

Speaker 4:

Yes. Who watches them? Guards.

Speaker 3:

Oh, the peacekeepers are keeping track of the sewers of what's coming out?

Speaker 4:

The sewers and just the gates of the city.

Speaker 3:

They're always watching. Yeah.

Speaker 4:

They don't always stop people, but they are watching. Thanks, Rachel. And there have been more lately. Are peacekeepers? Okay.

Speaker 3:

Thanks. They're keeping

Speaker 1:

a lot of peace.

Speaker 2:

And they have huge snipers.

Speaker 3:

And they have big guns

Speaker 2:

and huge swords, and they're

Speaker 1:

so strong.

Speaker 4:

Alright. Rachel's turn is over.

Speaker 2:

And they have those giant searchlights that go

Speaker 1:

Remember when I made guns cannon? This is better.

Speaker 3:

And now this season, the difficulty is five points higher. Wow.

Speaker 4:

Aren't you excited? And that's

Speaker 1:

that screaming we were talking.

Speaker 4:

You're welcome.

Speaker 2:

I'll try to buy prison break.

Speaker 3:

You know you know, Rachel, this won't make sense now, but thank you. No. Holly, your turn.

Speaker 4:

I am not the enemy. I had a fun idea, and it was

Speaker 2:

You could still have a fun idea. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

You could keep having fun ideas.

Speaker 2:

We have

Speaker 3:

to balance this out. I think we need a fun idea too.

Speaker 1:

Was gonna

Speaker 4:

say, I'm I'm playing the equivalent of, like, a college girl on summer vacation. So my first thought was somewhere between the Merchants District and the Arts District is specifically a street where there are just clubs and taverns playing very loud music. So, environmentally, there's a whole street that is just very loud and constantly different types of music depending on the time of day.

Speaker 3:

That's right. The Entertainment District, which just so happens to be a single street. Very good. Thank you so much. Street with clubs.

Speaker 3:

Very good. Thank you so

Speaker 4:

much. Street with clubs.

Speaker 3:

Street with clubs. Group trip.

Speaker 1:

Group trip.

Speaker 3:

This is very exciting. I'm so happy. A little

Speaker 2:

too happy.

Speaker 3:

Speaking of happiness, we flash back to where we were in the present for just a moment where, Willow, you are hanging out in the street with your friends. You're sitting there looking at the alley. Mhmm. You just saw that weird shadowy, like, Vanta black as you described it.

Speaker 4:

Like, it just sucks the light.

Speaker 3:

It just seems to suck the And you almost watch as it melts away. And with that information, what would you like to do?

Speaker 4:

I think who's walking closest to me? Probably Argus. Mhmm. I would tap Argus. Hey.

Speaker 4:

Did you there in the alley over there, there's something really dark, like darker than normal. Like a shadow?

Speaker 1:

Well, yeah. Mean, yeah.

Speaker 4:

But like a super shadow in the middle of the day.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Did someone say shadow? Yeah. Watch this. And I'm going to

Speaker 1:

Oh gosh. Darn it.

Speaker 2:

I am going to use my Nightwalker ability of Shadow Stumper, where I can move from shadow to shadow when I move into an area of darkness or a shadow cast by another creature or object. I can mark a stress to disappear from where I am and reappear inside another shadow within far range. When I do, I am cloaked. Oh, So I am going to mark a stress. Okay.

Speaker 2:

I am going to loudly announce to the group that I used to not be able to control this.

Speaker 1:

Uh-huh.

Speaker 2:

But for about the last month, I've really been practicing.

Speaker 4:

Oh, we're doing this right here in the middle of the market.

Speaker 2:

Yes. Watch this. And I'm going to duck into like a little booth where the awning is casting a shadow. And as I do,

Speaker 3:

I disappear. You all hear from inside that tent, fresh banana. Oh my god. Where did he go?

Speaker 1:

Oh, it

Speaker 3:

was just a man there.

Speaker 1:

Crap. Cappy.

Speaker 2:

I'm over here. And then you

Speaker 4:

Does it hit him?

Speaker 3:

Does it hit cap?

Speaker 1:

What are you doing?

Speaker 4:

He's right there.

Speaker 1:

Oh. Oh. There you are. Yes.

Speaker 3:

Oh, freak. You really did go in the alley. That's cool. Me, Anthony, I'm surprised by this.

Speaker 1:

I still can't see you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. It's a little dark in here, but look, there's nothing here. It's just an alley.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. I've seen alleys and I've seen shadows before. You will not gaslight me into believing that I saw just a normal alley. Yeah. I don't see anything.

Speaker 1:

Pistachio's gonna, like, gaze around and see if there's anything in the alley.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. Pistachio, go ahead and give me an instinct check.

Speaker 1:

Okay. Sure thing, boss.

Speaker 4:

If I saw the direction that the shadow kind of disappeared into, could I point that out to Pistachio?

Speaker 3:

I'll say, yeah. If you'd like to spend a hope to give Pistachio advantage I may do so.

Speaker 4:

We'll do that.

Speaker 3:

Very good. For those of you at home, advantage hey. It's me, your GM, Isaac Allen Burns. What an advantage works is instead of rolling a dice twice and taking the higher of them, instead you will roll a d six along with your duality dice and add the total of that d six to whatever you have rolled.

Speaker 1:

16 with hope.

Speaker 3:

16 with hope. That's very good. Pistachio, you look down the alleyway, and it looks like just a plain old alleyway. You look down at the ground. It dawns on you that if someone was going through here, then they would leave some kind of tracks or footsteps.

Speaker 3:

And you look and you don't see any footsteps, but you do see what looks like a couple of droplets of this weird, like, black ooze. The consistency of glue, but you do recognize where you have seen this ooze before. As it sinks deep into the ground, it looks oddly similar to the black ooze you would have seen around that circle.

Speaker 4:

Where's Willow and Argus are just looking at each other like, what's happening?

Speaker 1:

There is some black ooze like substance. Yeah. Right. It's like right there, pooled.

Speaker 2:

Argus touch it.

Speaker 1:

Don't make Argus touch it.

Speaker 2:

I double dare you.

Speaker 1:

Don't make Argus touch it.

Speaker 2:

I'm not making Argus do anything. I'm double daring Argus.

Speaker 1:

Oh my god.

Speaker 2:

Which hey. You don't have to I will. Unless you're chicken.

Speaker 4:

That should not work on me as he's, like, pulling out. He's gonna pull out his his long sword Mhmm. And reach towards it with his long sword.

Speaker 3:

Okay. Yeah. There's so very little of it left after the amount of time y'all talked about daring each other. And so you see just a little bead of ooze slowly sinking in. Do you wanna touch it?

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 3:

You you tap it, and it, like, rolls off the sword kinda like a kinda like oil and water, and then it just kinda

Speaker 2:

Nothing sinks to panic about.

Speaker 3:

Nothing seems to happen.

Speaker 4:

I wasn't panicking to begin with.

Speaker 1:

The last couple of times I've seen black ooze, it wasn't great. Because, like

Speaker 4:

Are you gonna explain that? Or

Speaker 1:

Last mission, like, about a month ago, we saw something. You all make

Speaker 4:

a lot of allusions to this mission a month ago, and my net also have told us nothing.

Speaker 2:

Oh. Well, you know, we we stopped some bad guys, saved the city. Just another day for an adventure.

Speaker 1:

Another day for an adventure.

Speaker 4:

I know they're talking about why we all had to go to therapy.

Speaker 3:

That's why my dad got arrested.

Speaker 1:

Well, haven't you guys read the report?

Speaker 4:

You mean the thing that was mostly redacted?

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. Cappy killed some, like, big soldier guy.

Speaker 2:

Woah. And

Speaker 3:

then You got that big some soldier guy killed a rich guy, but then my dad said that Cappy actually killed the rich guy. So, you

Speaker 2:

know, but I didn't kill He didn't kill rich guy, and I I had to kill the other guy. It wasn't something I was

Speaker 1:

Yeah. It

Speaker 3:

really chalked his foot off too.

Speaker 1:

Oh, my god.

Speaker 2:

Well, that yeah. But that was because I was trying to stop him, then he still wouldn't stop. So I had to Yeah. It was I heard there's a new place in town that has milkshakes.

Speaker 1:

Oh, it's the old place in town. But, yes, milkshakes.

Speaker 2:

They have milkshakes.

Speaker 1:

Yes. They have milkshakes.

Speaker 2:

Want a milkshake? Milkshake. Will they

Speaker 4:

always want a milkshake? Great.

Speaker 2:

We should go get milkshakes. Let's go

Speaker 1:

get milkshakes.

Speaker 2:

Kid, do want a milkshake?

Speaker 3:

Yeah. I want a milkshake. Hell, yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

As we're walking, I do wanna lean over to Pistachio.

Speaker 1:

Uh-huh.

Speaker 2:

Hey, kid. Yeah. Noticed you didn't come home again last night.

Speaker 1:

Oh, what time did you come home? I was was waiting up for you.

Speaker 2:

Well, I I got home around, you know, two, 3AM.

Speaker 1:

Oh.

Speaker 2:

And you weren't at the Adventuring Guild sleeping, And it kinda looks like you got into the wrong side of the party street.

Speaker 1:

What? What?

Speaker 2:

Yeah. These fishnets You know that fishnets aren't really supposed to go on top of clothes.

Speaker 1:

Well, I I do now.

Speaker 2:

K.

Speaker 1:

They're not the most comfortable.

Speaker 2:

Listen. You don't have to tell me what you did. You know, I just I've just noticed that you've been missing quite a lot. So, you know, just Well If you need advice or anything, you could always, I don't know, let me know. Anyways

Speaker 1:

I mean, I think I got it. It's just like, you know, I get kinda lonely. I go on some walks.

Speaker 2:

And you end up in fishnets?

Speaker 1:

What?

Speaker 3:

Who among us?

Speaker 1:

Who hasn't? Who hasn't? I mean, it was just some people think that it looks good on me. Okay. Good talk.

Speaker 3:

But Hey. While y'all are actually having this conversation, Rowan, can you roll a fate dice for me?

Speaker 1:

Yep.

Speaker 3:

For those who wanna know, hey. It's me, your GM, Isaac Allen Burns. A fate dice is a tool that you, the GM, have to just add a little bit of randomness to it. Nothing too special. You just have one of your players roll a d 12 of Nine.

Speaker 3:

They don't get hope or fear for it. Okay. So a nine out of 12. So it's generally good. You bump into somebody.

Speaker 3:

And who are you bumping into that you would describe as, like, nine out of 12 on the good side?

Speaker 1:

On the good side. Nine out of 12 is not too bad, so I would be like, oh, okay. Something benign like Miles. But something fun would be either Clover or Cerulean to knock into at that point. I'll throw it to you.

Speaker 3:

So Pistachio and Cappy, as you're having this conversation, y'all are kinda talking back and forth. Y'all aren't really paying attention. And, Pistachio, you bump into somebody, and you hear a oof as suddenly a bunch of bags and clothes, like, fly all over the place

Speaker 1:

Oh.

Speaker 3:

As you see the diminutive form of cerulean kinda on their back. Kinda like, oh. Oh. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm so it's you too.

Speaker 4:

Oh, hey.

Speaker 1:

Oh, hi. Oh, hi.

Speaker 2:

Let me

Speaker 1:

help you up. Here. Then this dude, Cashew, will, like, help them up.

Speaker 2:

Cerulean, have you met our new adventurers? This is Willow and Argus.

Speaker 3:

You see Cerulean is, like, picking up a bunch of bags.

Speaker 1:

Oh, Kate, can I help you with those? I didn't know that

Speaker 3:

you No. That's okay. I've just got lots of thing. I've got lots of chores to do. Chores?

Speaker 3:

My name is Cerulean. You see a small little lunar moth type fairy. Perhaps at one point in the past, this individual was dressed in, like, purple robes giving Polaris, but now they're just sort of dressed in plain clothes, like what you would expect just anybody to be wearing. Nothing super fancy. They have a lot of bags.

Speaker 1:

Pistachio's kinda looking at those bags. Is there anything, like, that sticks out that's super strange or weird?

Speaker 3:

I mean, a 100%. Yeah. Yeah. What what does pistachio see that's sticking out of the bag that's super strange or weird?

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Tell us, Rowan.

Speaker 3:

Tell us, Rowan.

Speaker 4:

What do you have in mind? Yeah. That was a leading question. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

There's a couple, like, collars in the bag. What? Like, spiky collars.

Speaker 3:

Spiky collars. What you're wearing. Yeah. Here's some collars. It looks like I got one that's for a cat and then one that's for, like, a small person.

Speaker 3:

I don't quite know. But anyways, I'm just doing what I'm told because I have to, and I've done it for the last few months. That's okay. It's my mission. It's my job.

Speaker 3:

I've decided to separate the personal from the business side

Speaker 2:

of it. And now Well, when are you and Clover getting out of here?

Speaker 3:

Well, it's a complicated political matter because Clover is unfortunately a key witness in the case against the people who were doing all that stuff that Charles done.

Speaker 2:

We weren't talking about.

Speaker 3:

I'm pretty sure you're all witnesses. You two were witnesses too.

Speaker 4:

Were you there for that?

Speaker 3:

I was. Yeah. So I'm also a witness.

Speaker 4:

Need to go get a drink.

Speaker 3:

What? Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Oh, well, we're gonna get my milkshake, so you might as well be tagged along.

Speaker 4:

You have information that despite the fact that we've been working with these two for a week and a half, they've told us very little.

Speaker 1:

So Right.

Speaker 3:

Oh, yeah. Probably a matter of national security, but also because they don't like talking sometimes.

Speaker 4:

Hey. I've gotten the sense of that. You know?

Speaker 3:

Yeah. Yeah. They had one friend who was really talkative, who talked to me about a lot of things.

Speaker 1:

Okay. Want milkshake.

Speaker 2:

Let's go. Please.

Speaker 1:

Alright, Searle. Here, I will help you with these bags.

Speaker 3:

Oh, okay. Anthony, come on. Let's go. With two with two friends in tow and a whole bunch of bags, you make your way to the Morning Pages. Yeah.

Speaker 3:

The Morning Pages is a little coffee shop slash cafe slash bookstore that is in the Arts District. This is sort of a bohemian district of the city. There's a lot of artists, a lot of people also on the street. It's less entertaining than the entertaining district, but a lot less industrial than the Merchant District. So that's got its own little kind of thing.

Speaker 3:

And the morning pages is just a quaint little coffee shop. You see that you see Miles is unfortunately not working today.

Speaker 1:

Oh, dang it.

Speaker 3:

But as you step inside, you do see the barista at the front. Rowan, would you like to describe the barista at the front one more time?

Speaker 1:

They have an asymmetrical cut, and they look like a monarch butterfly. Oh.

Speaker 3:

A monarch butterfly asymmetrical haircut. They've changed it up since then. Yep. And you see that they're working today as the six of you go inside of the building.

Speaker 2:

I'm gonna go up first with Anthony. Okay. What what milkshake do you want, kid?

Speaker 3:

I want a double chocolate, double peanut butter, double caramel, double So

Speaker 2:

he wants hazelnut. Chocolate, double peanut butter, double caramel, double hot Hazelnut. Fudge, whipped cream Hazelnut. With cherries. With double cherries.

Speaker 3:

Can I get sour cream on top of

Speaker 2:

it too? Wants it sour

Speaker 3:

And then some corn. What you want? Corn? Yeah. And can I get some french fries on top of it too?

Speaker 2:

French fries on top of it. And then

Speaker 3:

some ketchup on top of that.

Speaker 2:

And then ketchup on top of that.

Speaker 1:

Oh, wow.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. And I'll take a banana cream milkshake. And then I'm going to lean over to Anthony. Uh-huh. I'm gonna go, hey, kid.

Speaker 2:

I'm gonna cover this milkshake. Okay. An interesting thing happened to me today. What? I was in therapy.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Is that where you listen to an instrument called theremin?

Speaker 2:

No. Oh, okay. But he did offer to play it. But he was talking to me and Yeah. You know, I was kinda telling him how I wanna kill a wizard.

Speaker 2:

You know, I I wanna kill a I've mentioned that before.

Speaker 3:

Oh, Like you did that old guy? Sure. Okay.

Speaker 2:

Well So I'm gonna kill the wizard.

Speaker 3:

You gotta pull both his teeth.

Speaker 2:

He asked me an interesting question. He said, I just need to make sure that this isn't a person that has power or is part of an important family, etc. And I didn't think of it before, but it gave me an idea. Okay. I'm gonna take down your family.

Speaker 2:

And then the milkshake comes out, and I just hand it to you.

Speaker 3:

You see, Anthony, his eyes are very wide and confused, and he's holding this monstrosity of a milkshake. The person at the front says, yeah. A handful of gold, please, for all of us.

Speaker 2:

Here you go. And I reach in my pocket, and I pull out some of my casino winnings, and I give them a handful

Speaker 3:

of gold. Wow.

Speaker 2:

Nice. And then I just start slurping my milkshake.

Speaker 3:

You see Anthony is kinda standing there looking at his milkshake, and he doesn't quite know what to say.

Speaker 2:

I've already walked off to a table and sat down.

Speaker 3:

Okay. Very good. Anthony's kinda standing at the front, and he's just kinda, like, looking around really confused. Natasha, you walk up to the front and you see, you see the barista and you see Anthony just kinda standing there with what looks like a horror show of Milkshake.

Speaker 1:

Oh, hey, Anthony. Do you that looks like a monstrosity. What did you get?

Speaker 3:

Cappy said he was gonna kill my family.

Speaker 1:

Oh. Do

Speaker 3:

you think Cappy's gonna kill my family? Did Cappy kill that old guy and then also that rich guy?

Speaker 1:

Don't no. Because

Speaker 3:

my dad said that he killed the rich guy, but other people say he didn't

Speaker 1:

want to believe anymore. Anthony, hold on one second.

Speaker 2:

Can I

Speaker 1:

please get a matcha ube taro links?

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Because the order is much more important than whatever it takes. This traumatized child.

Speaker 3:

You gotta take your, like, cousin. Is this

Speaker 1:

your sister's in a second. He's not my cousin, but he is my ward right now.

Speaker 3:

Oh, ward. Woah. Okay.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Do you have my books that I'm holding, by the way?

Speaker 3:

Maybe. What's the name for

Speaker 1:

the ward? So we have Gargantuan Beasts from the Past and Present, of which can terrorize people. And we have 50 questions to ask your partner that will make them your relationship better.

Speaker 3:

You see that they blink a few times, and they kinda they kinda look at you and they blink, and they nod slowly, and then they go to the back and come back with a very purple milkshake and also all those books. One of them is very clearly, like, a kid's book.

Speaker 1:

Mhmm.

Speaker 3:

And then the other is just a very dour looking self help book. Perfect. I'll let y'all decide which is which. They they hand the books to

Speaker 1:

you. Perfect.

Speaker 3:

I'll see you around.

Speaker 1:

Awesome. Anthony, do you mind holding these while we go over this way? Come on. And we'll talk about how Kathy's not gonna murder anybody. Come on.

Speaker 3:

Very good. You return. I think you've probably gotten a table and Cerulean is saying, yeah. And so then in the warehouse, there was a bunch of fog, and then a bunch of people died. And I think some of them were peacekeepers, so that was crazy.

Speaker 3:

And then we went down these stairs and it was really weird. And then he was acting all kinds of strange and his eyes turned a different color.

Speaker 4:

Oh.

Speaker 3:

And then we saw some dead scientists and then we saw Callie's girlfriend slash I don't quite know what they are anymore.

Speaker 4:

Who did you say you were there to find?

Speaker 3:

Well, I was there to find Clover of Towers. Oh. And then I successfully found Clover of Towers. And then we had to be held here for legal reasons because we're star witnesses in this very important case that apparently has very strong political destabilizing potential.

Speaker 4:

Wow. Explains

Speaker 1:

such a

Speaker 4:

good milkshake.

Speaker 1:

Delicious milkshake.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. And so then I thought I would, like, hang with Clover and that they would ask me to, like, live with them or whatever because, you know, it's easier to have one room, but then they did it. And they said they have someone else in mind. And then I saw I've just sort of been sleeping in if I'm not sleepy, I'm not allowed to sleep at the Adventuring Guild because I'm not an adventurer. And I'm also not allowed to stay at the embassy because there isn't one in Aljennebar, and that would be a long walk all the way to Regulus.

Speaker 3:

So I've just sort of been sleeping in, like, people's couches and also cardboard boxes.

Speaker 1:

Wait. Cerulean, you've been staying sleeping in cardboard boxes?

Speaker 3:

And they get up and then they leave. No.

Speaker 1:

No. No. I That was, in fact, a forward question. Well,

Speaker 4:

I learned a lot Yeah. That you did not say.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Pistachio.

Speaker 3:

Why are you withholding information?

Speaker 4:

They just don't just trust us, and that's okay.

Speaker 2:

It's not that we don't

Speaker 1:

trust you.

Speaker 3:

Probably the

Speaker 1:

Okay. So our friend got possessed by an evil wizard that was planning on using his body to come back to life from the dead and fucked around and left while we were on an important mission, which may have caused a reason for my sister to touch a very powerful relic and then get yeeted off into the church.

Speaker 2:

So anyways, that's you know, it's just good to keep our distance.

Speaker 4:

Evil wizard.

Speaker 1:

Yes. Evil wizard.

Speaker 4:

Is that who you're talking about?

Speaker 2:

Yes. I'm gonna murder the evil wizard.

Speaker 4:

Will that bring your friend back?

Speaker 2:

It could. We don't know until we try. But that's why it's probably just good that we, you know, keep our distance. It's a lesson I find I keep learning and then I keep ignoring You

Speaker 4:

know that that doesn't work on a team that has to actually live together and work together. Right?

Speaker 2:

Well, it does No.

Speaker 4:

It doesn't function that way.

Speaker 2:

Well, it's just we're work associates.

Speaker 1:

You guys can be my friends.

Speaker 2:

Pistachio.

Speaker 1:

Sorry. Hey, Willow. Work associate.

Speaker 3:

I'm gonna assume that Willow

Speaker 4:

Never mind.

Speaker 3:

You're seated in a way where you can see out the window. Mhmm. You see a bit of an ado happening outside. Okay. You see that there is a group of peacekeepers.

Speaker 3:

There's, like, three of them, and one of them is holding what looks like this little kid up by, like, an arm.

Speaker 4:

Woah.

Speaker 3:

You see he's got, like, a little parcel in his hand, and he's being held up, he's, like, kicking his feet.

Speaker 4:

Guys, there's something happening outside, and Willow will just start, like, wheeling towards Oh. Wheeling towards the door.

Speaker 1:

Okay. What is that?

Speaker 3:

You bust outside, and you hear you hear a peacekeeper saying, I know you stole my fucking gold, kid. Give it fucking back. And you see that the kid is, like, kicking his legs. He says, I would not steal anything in an illegal way. I'm a captain of industry.

Speaker 3:

I would never stoop to such low tactics.

Speaker 4:

What's happening out here?

Speaker 3:

You see the peacekeeper turns to look at you for her. You see he kinda narrows his eyes and says, this little pipsqueak just stole gold from my pocket. And you see that Postmate is, like, kicking his feet. He says, oh, he stole Why did he steal anything? No.

Speaker 3:

He's he's stole apostle.

Speaker 2:

Oh, the little the little kid stole gold. Well, thankfully, you were here to apprehend him. I'm sure it does take three of you peacekeepers to do that. Surely, there's nothing else. Hey.

Speaker 2:

Don't you worry. We'll handle all the real things happening here. But, hey. Thank you so much for being here to apprehend a little kid who stole some gold.

Speaker 3:

You see, as you're doing that, the other two peacekeepers, they put a hand on their mace on the side, they're just kinda, like, kinda fan out from the middle guy who's

Speaker 2:

Cappy's looking for a fight.

Speaker 1:

Oh, really? Really? Really? It's okay. It's It's okay.

Speaker 1:

We know this kid. We are adventurers, and we are gonna take care of him.

Speaker 4:

There's no reason to

Speaker 1:

be a bully. Reason

Speaker 4:

to How much money is missing.

Speaker 3:

Make a we're gonna say a group presence check. I'm gonna have Pistachio lead this. Argus, you don't have to roll because you haven't said anything.

Speaker 4:

No. I haven't.

Speaker 3:

Cappy, you have disadvantage on this. And, actually, also, Willow, you also have disadvantage on this.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Go back. Call him a bully. Argus is sizing up this group and is not thrilled by any of this.

Speaker 3:

Don't tell us what you have yet, Pistachio. Let's hear what these two. Holy. Let's see what these two chuckle nuts rolled first. What we got, friends?

Speaker 4:

Faces are great. We got a 15 with fear.

Speaker 3:

A 15 with fear? So in this case, because y'all are helping the group check

Speaker 4:

reaction. 15.

Speaker 2:

Oh, and we

Speaker 3:

should talk about group checks. Haven't done that yet. Hey. It's me, your GM Isaac Almbrands, here to describe group checks. In this situation, we find ourselves in, our heroes are doing something and working together.

Speaker 3:

The way that group checks are handled here is rather than everyone rolling separately and figuring out an average or taking the max, instead you're going to instill one of the rollers as the principal roller. Everyone else who wants to assist in the scene or has already done something in the scene will make reaction rolls. For those who are assisting who have succeeded, they will add plus one to the principal. Those who have failed will subtract one from the principal. So in this case, our two assisters here, Joe and Ollie, are gonna tell us what they rolled.

Speaker 4:

So 15.

Speaker 3:

15? And that's with disadvantage?

Speaker 4:

That's with disadvantage.

Speaker 3:

Nice. What you got? A four. Great. So you got a plus so this is a plus zero to you, Pistachio.

Speaker 3:

So go ahead and roll that presence check. In this case, you will be making a duality roll.

Speaker 1:

Rowan. It's a 17 with fear.

Speaker 3:

17 with fear. Thank you so much. Okay. I'll take that fear. And you see, Argus, you're kinda sizing them up.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. I'm sizing up them.

Speaker 3:

You're sizing them up? Yeah. Oh, not the guards? No. Interesting.

Speaker 3:

Okay.

Speaker 4:

You're checking out the team and seeing how they're responding? Well, I don't like how anyone's working together right now.

Speaker 1:

Right. Paris was about to send us through team training.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Is. Solid. Gonna cuddle. I think this is the first time Willow's been 100% on board with Cappy.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. And Argus is not thrilled. He's like, what? You're just going crazy with them?

Speaker 3:

You see that this peacekeeper who's holding this kid is looking and says, stand down, friends, he says to the other two who kinda take a step back. On that fear, he's gonna look at y'all and say, they're known to be executioner as well as the judge. And they drop the kid on the ground. I'm gonna need everyone to take a stress, as these three say. Maybe next time when you're handling this little mission of yours, people won't wind up dead.

Speaker 3:

And they're gonna turn and walk away. We saved the city. Who are you guys?

Speaker 4:

Abuse of power comes in many forms, and that's what she's gonna shout at them as they walk away.

Speaker 3:

You hear they don't respond. Postmae. Hello. It's me, Postmae, here to deliver a parcel.

Speaker 2:

To who?

Speaker 3:

To the four of you because you are Adventuring Guild members who are the only four members that I know. Well Or rather specifically, I know two of you, and the other two are simply customers I haven't met yet. My name is Postmate. Hi. Here to deliver all of your possible needs.

Speaker 3:

That includes parcels. That includes packages. That includes illicit drugs. Whatever it is you need moved are can

Speaker 4:

move. How far do you delay? Okay.

Speaker 3:

Within within the Aljanaabai provincial limits of the capital.

Speaker 2:

First off,

Speaker 4:

are you okay?

Speaker 3:

Am I okay? Yeah. Well, yes. I'm quite fine. I've learned that in business, you have to learn to take one on the chin and keep moving.

Speaker 4:

Okay.

Speaker 3:

You see, I asked those fine gentlemen because as a businessman, I have a very good relationship with law enforcement. And so I went up to go and ask them if they could point me in the direction of the adventurers, and they did not like that I was asking them about adventurers, and then they accosted me and accused me of trying to rob from them. Okay. But you're

Speaker 2:

also robbed from them. Right?

Speaker 3:

I have not robbed in an illegal way from them.

Speaker 2:

Postmate, keep your secrets. What's your package?

Speaker 3:

Oh, it's a message.

Speaker 1:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 3:

It's a message from Michelle of the Adventuring Guild to return to the guild because new missions just came in. And, also, there's something very important that she needs to tell you from an initiative that just started today.

Speaker 1:

Okay. Perfect. Let me collect Anthony.

Speaker 3:

Let me know if you ever need anything, legal or otherwise, and he takes off in a dust cloud.

Speaker 2:

K. Thanks, Jose.

Speaker 4:

I like that kid.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. He's alright.

Speaker 4:

Can I not get the attention of the peacekeepers next time? Can we avoid doing that, please?

Speaker 2:

Oh, no. See, it's just that they're always so eager to make themselves look like jackasses in front of everyone all the time. Willow, I saw that spark in your eye. You didn't like it either.

Speaker 4:

No. Didn't like it. I just also didn't wanna never mind.

Speaker 1:

Hold that thought while I go get Anthony and then come back.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. See, Anthony is, like, kicking a rock on the street. And as you come up, he says, I'm just gonna go home.

Speaker 2:

Okay, Anthony. Good seeing you.

Speaker 3:

I'm just I'm just gonna go home.

Speaker 2:

Thank you. Hey. Remember what we talked about, then copy's gonna wink at him?

Speaker 3:

He's gonna

Speaker 1:

Anthony, why don't you come with me?

Speaker 3:

I'm No. And he turns and he's gonna walk away.

Speaker 4:

Oh, okay. Keep practicing your knots.

Speaker 3:

He doesn't respond. Kathy also walks away.

Speaker 1:

Why did you tell him you're gonna kill his

Speaker 2:

whole family? I didn't tell him I was gonna kill his whole

Speaker 4:

family. What? You were gonna kill

Speaker 2:

his family. Everyone relax. I didn't tell him I was gonna kill his family. Bad communication skills on his part. I said I was going to take down his family.

Speaker 2:

Uh-huh. And Cappy's like doing the eyebrow like raise up and down thing.

Speaker 1:

Well, he thinks you're going to murder his family. Family.

Speaker 2:

Oh, you know?

Speaker 1:

Mean You know?

Speaker 2:

Listen. Maybe that's what ends up happening. I I'm not you know, I'm only in so much control.

Speaker 1:

Cannot do

Speaker 2:

I'm thirsty for blood. Everyone thinks

Speaker 4:

I was about to say your reputation is

Speaker 2:

Yeah. And so why don't I start living up to that reputation?

Speaker 1:

Kevin, you don't wanna live up to that reputation.

Speaker 2:

How do I know?

Speaker 1:

Because it because here's

Speaker 2:

what I do wanna do, Pistachio. I wanna kill a wizard, and now I really wanna take on the Zestan family.

Speaker 1:

Well, okay. But

Speaker 2:

We'll talk about it later.

Speaker 3:

You see a guy walks by and says, oh, you wanna kiss a lizard?

Speaker 2:

Keep moving, guys. Oh,

Speaker 3:

okay. No.

Speaker 1:

I heard this thing that Milkshakel is gonna tell us is gonna be really nice. Let's go.

Speaker 2:

Cut two.

Speaker 4:

As oh my god.

Speaker 3:
