Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.
The Father loves us, not because of the great propitiation, but He
provided the propitiation because He loves us. Christ was the medium
through which He could pour out His infinite love upon a fallen world.

Christmas—we tend to associate it with twinkling evergreens,
nativity scenes, and a beautiful story. A little baby appears to come
from nowhere, born to a virgin in Bethlehem’s stable. But sadly, the
significance is lost as we go merrily from one celebration to the next. Is
the Christmas story merely another part of the holiday season—only to
be enjoyed for a time, then thrown out with the wrapping paper?

The universe stood still in awe; time froze in place. The gaze
of myriads of heavenly beings was locked on the royal scene before
them. The atmosphere in Heaven’s throne room was heavy with
sadness as Father and Son conversed in low tones. Adam and Eve
had failed their test of loyalty to God and signed humanity’s death
decree, dooming their posterity to the merciless grip of the archenemy:
Satan. Planet Earth had become a vile orb, infected with sin
and misery. The angels held their breath. Was this to be humanity’s
fate? Would they have no second chance?
A stir in the cloud of glory surrounding the throne silenced
the restless courtroom. The angels watched breathlessly as the Son
of God stood up, carefully removed the ornate crown from His noble
brow and laid it aside, doing the same with His kingly robes. A tender
look passed between Father and Son as, with a last loving glance
toward the adoring angels, Jesus left the throne room. Questioning
eyes wordlessly pressed the Father for an explanation, and sorrow
choked His voice as He addressed the angelic audience:
“He has gone to save them.”

The baby nestled in the rough straw of an animal’s feeding
trough didn’t just come from nowhere—He is Heaven’s King.
