Chassidic Tales with Rav Shlomo Katz

On Motzei Tisha B’Av, the Lelover Rebbe told the Bialer Rebbe why the fast felt easy: “I didn’t think I’d need to finish it.” When you live expecting the Geula any minute, time bends differently…

What is Chassidic Tales with Rav Shlomo Katz?

Short, soul-stirring stories from across the flavors of Chassidus—Breslov, Chabad, Ger, and more. In just a few minutes, Rav Shlomo Katz brings the heart of Chassidus to life, one tale at a time.

A very special meeting took place one מוצאי תשעה באב between the Lelover Rebbe and the Bialer Rebbe, the חלקת יהושע. The Lelover asked the Bialer, how was, how was the צום, how was the fast? How was it for you and your חברה? ברוך השם, the Rebbe said, it was all חזק, painful, but we did it. And the Bialer then asked the Lelover back, and how was it by you? So the Lelover answered him a very interesting answer. The Lelover said, it was actually very, very easy.

Why was it so easy? I didn't really think I was going to have to fast. I just kept on thinking it's about to happen, so I'll just wait a few more minutes. Meaning, it's about to happen, the גאולה is about to happen. I'm just going to have to wait a few more minutes and then another few more minutes, and then another few more minutes.

It was מעת לעת. It just kept on passing by like that. I have a feeling that when we live in a reality of מעת לעת, that we really don't think that we're going to have to last, it's going to last like this for this much longer. Eventually, or sooner than we think, that מעת לעת will reach its end, and we'll greet מלך המשיח.
