What is Manna Monday?

The Team at the Real Health Co. shares a weekly message to help you center yourself and start your week off strong!

Dr. Barrett:

The other day I was reading in Mark 5, and in verse 25, we get the story of a woman who's healed in the midst of a crowd. And when you look at the story, there's so much that you can you can take from it. But I'm gonna give you a couple things that I think could impact you for the week. Right? So Jesus is on his way to Jairus' house to raise this little 12 year old girl from the dead.

Dr. Barrett:

Meanwhile, as he's pushing to the house, a crowd just envelops him. And there's people that are pulling on him, tugging on him, but there's one person in particular, that made him stop. And in verse 25 through about 35, you see the story of a woman who had this ailment, and she just by faith believed if she could just touch the garment of Jesus, she'd be healed. And with all these people touching him, one person touched him, truly touched him, to the point where he stopped and said, "who touched me?" The disciples were like, "hey, everyone's touching you."

Dr. Barrett:

But this one person, with her faith, touched him in such a way it made him stop. And I was just thinking on that. How many times do we just go through the rhythms of Christian life? That we read our Bible, we go to church, we sing a song. It's just because it's what people do.

Dr. Barrett:

It's the rhythms. And it's like, there's so many people that may be crowding the room of Jesus, but who's getting his attention? I was reflecting on that this morning. I don't wanna be in just the room. I wanna be the one that's touching his garment.

Dr. Barrett:

So what does this story share? Shares a couple things that I wanna encourage you with. So, the first thing is read Mark 5:25 today, and throughout the week meditate on it. The first thing that it shows us is that faith requires boldness and risk. This woman was willing to risk everything.

Dr. Barrett:

First, she couldn't just ceremonially, she couldn't she couldn't touch Jesus. She wasn't allowed. The law would would not allow this to happen. Yet, she did. And and she just said, "if I just touch his garments, I will get well."

Dr. Barrett:

Faith requires action, but it also requires risk and boldness. And she stepped out in faith, but she also stepped out in in risking it all. I think it's beautiful. Point number two is that Jesus responds to her personal faith. It was Jesus noticed her among, obviously, everyone else, and didn't just give her this generic miracle, but calls her, like, calls her a daughter and restores relationship to this Gentile woman, and restores the dignity of her condition by restoring her and healing her.

Dr. Barrett:

It's a beautiful, personal healing story that Jesus touched her in just such a specific way. And then the third point is Jesus is never too busy to care for you as the individual. Just think about it. Jesus is on his way to raise a girl from the dead, but yet pauses to speak life to a woman in the streets. He could have easily just kept moving along, but he didn't.

Dr. Barrett:

He knew, what was to come for the 12 year old girl, and he was patient. And so the Lord is patient. And I think as we reflect on that, it's so beautiful to see Jesus in our lives, just being able see him meet the individual need. And so whatever your need is, God is so willing to meet that need and care for that need and nurture that need of your life. Would you be the one that steps out in boldness and faith this week and pursue God?

Dr. Barrett:

Would you be the one in the midst of the crowd that gets his attention? How? Like, practically how? I would encourage you to just be truthful and honest with the Father. Pursue Him first in the morning, and just lay out your heart before Him.

Dr. Barrett:

And watch Him nurture it and care for it and restore your relationship with Him.
