Speaker 1:

And now Capital Chat on KINY, where we connect you with Juneau and Southeast Alaska's community organizations only on KINY.

Speaker 2:

Okay. I am now with my fellow Rotarian, Denny DeWitt, because we're gonna talk about Capital Brew Fest, right?

Speaker 3:

Right.

Speaker 2:

Okay. So here's the thing. Let's just do like a thirty second, what is Rotary anyway?

Speaker 3:

Rotary is a service club. We do a lot of community activities. We sponsor exchange students bringing them in. We send exchange students out, which is really an exciting part of what I do. We also have a Rotary Leadership Awards for high school juniors.

Speaker 3:

I'm real active in that as well, teaching kids how to be leaders. It's really a transforming program over a weekend. We do things like we built a greenhouse at the prison.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yes, I remember So

Speaker 3:

that the inmates could learn some trades.

Speaker 2:

We're just do gooders around the globe. Around the globe. That's exactly right. Yeah. I always tell people part of my elevator is I love being a part of one of the most respected NGOs, nongovernmental organizations in the world.

Speaker 3:

Right.

Speaker 2:

And I'm glad I'm in a club with you and I'm glad our club has BREWFEST this weekend. So what is BREWFEST?

Speaker 3:

Well, BREWFEST is an opportunity to come sample beers from 15 different breweries around Alaska anchored by the four breweries we have here in Juneau. Four? Four. Wow. We've got the Alaska Brewing Company, Harbor Mountain Brewing Company, Forbidden Peaks, and Devil's Club Brewing Company.

Speaker 3:

All of whom will be involved and active along with Denali Brewing, Alaska Cider Works, Midnight Sun Brewing Company, King Street Brewing, forty ninth State Brewing, Columbia Distributing, Specialty Imports will bring beers, Double Shovel Cider and Haines Brewery. So we have a great number of breweries that are gonna come in and share their beer with us. And they'll also have non alcoholic drinks, which are becoming very, very popular.

Speaker 2:

That's what I understand.

Speaker 3:

So, it's a great opportunity from noon to five on Saturday the twenty sixth. And then Friday night preceding it, we have Beer Feast, which is an amazing dinner. It's four courses paired with beers from our local breweries. The welcome course is a shoreline wild smoked coho dip. First course is cool Cedar salad paired with Harbor Mountain Vienna lager.

Speaker 3:

Second course is Thai Basil Pork Meatballs paired with Forbidden Peaks Tipsy Buck Hazy IPA. The third course is shawarma spiced chicken thighs over yogurt sauce with lemon and herb rice paired with devil clubs, marsan orange wine saisan. And then the fourth course is a black sesame miso rice crispy treats. And that's paired with Alaskan brewery fortieth anniversary Imperial stout. And if you haven't had that, you haven't lived.

Speaker 2:

Well, Jenny, and this is like an amazing dinner I just help serve, and I couldn't believe the food and how everyone was raving. And it's my understanding the same chefs in charge this year.

Speaker 3:

Yes. The folks at Devil's Club are quite gourmet chefs. They're doing a great job. It was an amazing dinner last year and it's gonna be even more amazing this year. We have tickets available.

Speaker 3:

You can get them at capbrewfest.com.

Speaker 2:

CAP? CAP.

Speaker 3:

Cap,clikeincapital. Capbrewfest.com. The tickets are $100 a piece.

Speaker 2:

For the dinner. For the dinner.

Speaker 3:

And then for BREWFEST on Saturday,

Speaker 2:

we

Speaker 3:

have both general admission tickets for $40 and VIP passes for only $65 Now a VIP pass gets you in an hour earlier at noon. That gives you an opportunity to sit or stand with the brewers and chat with them about the beers that they've brought, how they brew, what they do, what their ideas are on brewing. Really a wonderful opportunity to learn from the brewers themselves.

Speaker 2:

From the masters.

Speaker 3:

From the masters.

Speaker 2:

And so this goes from noon to five, you have to

Speaker 3:

be Saturday.

Speaker 2:

Yes. Over twenty one for both events.

Speaker 3:

Absolutely. Yes.

Speaker 2:

Okay. But they're... So people don't bring their children at No.

Speaker 3:

No children, no animals, no... Just over 21, come

Speaker 2:

and No, have a it's great bad. Or buts. Right. And if I... So you come in, you pay at BREWFEST, and you go around and there's music?

Speaker 3:

Yes. We have a band that we'll be playing.

Speaker 1:

Oh.

Speaker 2:

They're good, right?

Speaker 3:

They are very good.

Speaker 2:

And you know what? You'll all be dancing anyway

Speaker 3:

after That's exactly a right. It's a great opportunity to be with friends, taste some brew, bend your arm for charity.

Speaker 2:

Okay. So let's, we've got about a minute. Tell me again, how much is that amazing dinner on Friday night and how much BREWFEST is and where we can get tickets.

Speaker 3:

Okay, BREWFEST dinner is Friday night from five to eight. The ticket is $100 Saturday is from one to five.

Speaker 2:

One to five,

Speaker 3:

sorry. Unless you buy a VIP ticket, which is $65 and you can get them both at capbrewfest.com.

Speaker 2:

Okay. And so we'll all be there this weekend raising money to do good works around the community, the state, the world, right?

Speaker 3:

We will. That's what we'll be doing. If you come, we hope you're there. Stop in and see me. I'll have a bright orange hat and a vest on.

Speaker 2:

Oh, a bright orange hat, of course. Okay. Well, Denny DeWitt, I thank you for coming to speak about BREWFEST that the Rotary Club of Juno is sponsoring this weekend at Centennial Hall?

Speaker 3:

At Centennial Hall. Okay. Inside and doesn't matter what the weather is.

Speaker 2:
