I wanna again welcome you to the 04:05 coffee break. Get you a cup of coffee, glass iced tea, bottled water, let's see what's happening. Spring wheat $5.17 a bushel. 550 pound steer calf at an all time record high, $4.41 a pound. A butcher hog in Iowa, 62ยข a pound, and a lamb that's fat in Billings when a 100 pounds will fetch you $2 even.
OK Solberg:Well, guys, there's more, much more. Good afternoon, folks. Time for the news. I'll give you the bad news first. The bad news is there ain't no good news.
OK Solberg:Now that one is flat out funny. How can you have something so funny actually be the absolute truth at the same time as being funny? Now I can't claim that one as my own. It was sent in by a good friend and listener, and it came from a comic strip in a recent Billings Gazette. Thank you very much.
OK Solberg:Keep those cards and letters coming in. That little saying is a definite keeper. Okay then, the topic for today is sleep. What? Yes.
OK Solberg:The topic for today is sleep. Everyone does it, we all need it, and I've seldom spoke of it on this program. Did you realize they say a good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures for anything? Wow, that's as good as the first one liner. I'm gonna save it too.
OK Solberg:Since sleep is vital to all of us, there have been loads of one liners dealing with said topic. Here's another, listen. The best bridge between despair and hope is a good night's sleep. How about another one? Give your stress wings and let it fly away while you sleep.
OK Solberg:Now if you've noticed a repeated theme in all three that I just shared, You notice that it's talking if you had a bad day. A good night's sleep brings a positive new perspective. But we don't always have a bad day. Hopefully, we have many, many good days, yet we still need a good night's sleep. So this one's for you.
OK Solberg:Sleep is the golden chain that ties health and our bodies together. So why is this topic on my mind? I'll tell you, because I had a tremendous night's sleep last night. This morning I hit the snooze button six times, six times guys, and it has a nine minute lag between each new ring, that means I got an extra fifty four minutes of sleep. I stole it.
OK Solberg:It was the forbidden fruit. Some people hate an alarm clock, but my alarm clock is my friend. Now saying that, I have to admit, I seldom have my alarm clock ring. See, I typically sleep well and I wake up before it goes off, but I typically habitually set it. Why?
OK Solberg:It's my safeguard. It's my ever living friend that will remind me, if for some reason I didn't wake on my own. But on those rare impression precious occasions where I need extra sleep, I have my alarm set for about an hour and a half before I really need to leave the house. Some people, including you, might think that's crazy, but I love it. That way I can have my coffee and sit and ponder on the plans of the day before I go out and get my walk and start the rest of my duties.
OK Solberg:So here's the deal while I'm telling you all this. When we sleep really well and we hear that alarm go off and we're still sleepy, we can hit that snooze button and receive one of the greatest gifts known to mankind in the practical world. What? Yes. Receive one of the greatest gifts known to mankind in the practical world, we can steal nine more minutes of joyous sleep.
OK Solberg:Oh, it's like the right gift at the right time that nobody thought to give me. So here's to everyone out there wishing you a good night's sleep, and tomorrow morning, I hope you can hit the snooze button six times and still not miss a thing. So with the clock on the wall telling me I soon have to go, I'll leave you with this. Good afternoon, folks. Time for the news.
OK Solberg:I'll give you the bad news first. The bad news is there ain't no good news. Ah, but I'm just pulling your leg. The good news is a good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures for anything. Bible verse, in vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat, for he grants sleep to those he loves.
OK Solberg:Psalm a hundred and twenty seven two. So until next time, as you go out there, remember now, don't be bitter.
