Full show transcript:
Football season is ramping up.
Yeah? Do you know when the first game is?
I don't, but I do know that yesterday the Vikings went back to school.
Back to school. You showed me a picture of Justin Jefferson with. JIT with his little chalkboard. He says back to school.
They had a bunch of the players did that, yeah. That's very fun. I know. Oh, the Vikings are so cool.
The first official NFL game is the Hall of Fame game. Thursday, August 6th. Okay. We are very close to the game.
I know that's what I said. I said we're ramping up. So I think it would be fun to go watch a game. I do too. It's so expensive. But I wanted to see if the Vikings were playing the Raiders because wouldn't that be a game?
I think. Did we look? Do we know?
Is that how they're not playing this year? But that would be a revenge game because Cousins is now on the Raiders.
Now, when you say revenge, you feel like they like they have something there. Whatever. The first game they're playing is September 13th. That's the first regular season game. Their week one game is against the Packers. That's your first game.
Oh, we're gonna we're gonna wipe the game.
That is a division game, September 13th. Yeah. Now, preseason. Jordan Love, you better watch out. Preseason, you're not gonna see a lot of the big starters play in the preseason. They usually make them wait. Uh but August 15th is your first game against the Giants.
Ew. Listen, I got a new quarterback. Yeah. So we gotta see what he's gonna do. Okay. Um, but I the Vikings, the closest they come to Idaho is Denver. So they'll be playing the Broncos on the 28th of August.
Okay. So then I went, okay, they're not playing the Raiders at all. I really want to see them play. I want to see Kirk Cousins play. Because he is the reason that I became a Vikings fan to begin with.
Oh, okay. But the Raiders. I mean, they're playing.
It's just gonna be so expensive. They're playing the 49ers. I don't want to go to that game. Okay.
And then they're gonna play the Chiefs. Ugh. Okay.
So I don't know. We gotta figure out a game to go to, because I think it would be super duper fun. I do too. And our son is uh Bengals fan.
Right. I didn't look at Bengals games. I just looked up Vikings games and Raiders games because I just like the Raiders. I don't like the Raiders. I like Janty and I like Cousins. Okay. I feel like I have to be a Raiders fan now.
No, you can be a fan of those players without liking the whole team. You're a Vikings fan. You're stuck.
Is Max Crosby still a Raider? You're asking questions. I don't know. Okay. I know. Here's the thing about football. There's so many trades every year that I go, just when I got people figured out, they move. Yeah, Max Crosby is a Raider still. Oh, dude, the Raiders are cool. I might have to be a Raiders fan. Okay. Hmm. I'm just gonna tell you this right now.
Say like these are not good seats. But I can get tickets to the Raiders preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals. This is August 13th. I'm just saying we could go watch a football game for $20. The Cardinals? And it's also preseason, so you're not gonna see any of the starters.
Have you ever seen uh Cardinals fan? I don't think anybody is an Arizona Cardinals fan.
I think the state of Arizona would disagree with you, but you know. What what do I know?
I mean, here take take Southeast Idaho. We've got like you see a lot of Seahawks fans because Seattle's close. You see a lot of Broncos fans because Bron Denver is close.
You see a lot of Raiders fans because Las Vegas is close. Yeah. Uh who else? We see a lot of 49ers fans. Yeah. You don't see any Cardinals fans. Arizona's close.
Why isn't there any Cardinals fans? Like, I uh there's tickets affordable preseason tickets. Uh like a lot of them. Some of them 45 bucks. Like, I'm scrolling and scrolling the scroll.
It's not you're right. It's not the But it's a preseason game. Yeah, I don't want to watch who nobody wants to watch preseason. Okay. Oh, no. I don't even know who's on the Cardinals. Who even is the coach? There we go. Nobody knows about that.
All right. Except the state of Arizona.
Trey McBride. I had him on my fantasy. Oh, here we go. Here's today's show. Morning. Morning.
Morning. I thought it'd start off today with some good news. Do you like that? I sure. Okay, well, over the weekend, the Mayhem Monster Truck Tour. Oh, yeah. Yeah, it it visited the Lee Comm Event Center in Elmyra, New York. Uh, it was a nearly sell-out crowd. They got to enjoy ATVs, pit bikes, go carts, monster trucks during all these races and different competitions.
Also making an appearance at the uh event was a four-year-old boy named Sevy, who, with the help of his family, set up a lemonade stand to raise money for charity. Smart. That is very smart. Yeah.
Uh so while engines were revving in the background and speeding vehicles were flying over ramps and so forth. Sevy sold lemonade to thirsty customers, and he donated 100% of the proceeds to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, which is a national charity dedicated to fighting childhood cancer. I think this is so cool. Uh Sevy previously raised $950 for Alex's Lemonade Stown uh stand foundation. And now that the Mayhem Monster Truck event is over, he and his family are now looking for other events to set up shop to help others with donations. That's great. Isn't that cool? Very cool. Cute story.
Yeah. Good one, Josh. Good one, Josh.
Good news on this good Wednesday. Yeah? Yeah. Okay. I think it is anyway. I got to see a real nice sunrise. I like that. It's really pretty out there in case you didn't see it.
I did see it. It is pretty. It's nice. And the weather feels nice. Yeah. Felt nice. It's pretty great morning. Yeah.
Don't good news on a good morning.
Our kids never think we have food in the house, but they really don't think that we have drinks in our house. That's true. And so when Emery's boyfriend came over the other day, I said, Emory, did you offer him a drink? And she goes, We don't have anything. I go, we have all kinds of stuff. And I go, We've got a lot of pineapple juice. Yeah. Because I bought a bunch of pineapple juice. That's right. No one's getting through that very fast.
I'm working my way through it.
I'm not offering him pineapple juice. I said, why? And she goes, Because I hate it. I go, but he might love it. Right. She goes, I'm not offering him that.
And so I said, just wait. I bet he loves it. I hope he loves it. Right. So he came over. I said, Ethan, would you like some pineapple juice? And he goes, Oh, no, thank you. I go, is it because you're shy or because you hate pineapple juice? And he said, I don't really like pineapple juice.
That's a pretty extreme thing. Is it because you're shy? Or maybe he just didn't like it. And I determined. Yeah. He said he didn't like it. Checks out.
Checks out. And so then I said, I got water.
Kind of delicious. Water. I got protein shakes. Yeah.
I got some questionable orange juice. I threw that away. You did.
And I threw away the questionable apple juice as well. They've been sitting in the fridge in the garage for a very long time. I threw them away. Okay. They were, I was done having questionable juices around. So yeah, they're gone.
I liked to offer that to guests.
Well, you still can. You can just say we had some questionable juices, but Josh threw them away. And that'll still hit the same. You'll still get the same little feeling when you offer them gross food.
One of these days, somebody was going to take me up on that offer, though. No. Did you like some questionable orange juice? And somebody was going to say, Yeah, I didn't.
Actually, I kind of do.
Yeah, I do. Yeah. And then I was going to watch the magic unfold. It's gone. Dang it. You ruined all of the fun.
I didn't ruin anything. It was ruining my day.
It's also a science test. I wanted to see if things would start to grow in that. It had to go. Oh man. Oh man.
So don't offer him pineapple juice was the sentence that was given to me. Completely out of context. And I said, I don't know what that means. And she's a mom already asked. He doesn't like it. Don't offer him pineapple juice, please. And I said, okay. I won't. I have nothing to do with this conversation, but all right. I'll go about my day not offering pineapple juice. That's fine.
Now the joke is going to be any time he comes over, it's going to be, would you like some pineapple juice? Right. Whether I have it or not. Yeah. Would you like some? It's my it's my go-to. We have a lot of pineapple juice for some reason.
Can I get you something to drink? Or would you like some pineapple juice?
Pineapple juice, water, milk, protein shakes. Yeah.
And that's about it. And some we used to have questionable juices. See? It'll feel fine. You'll be all right. We were hanging out with some family over the weekend.
And there was kind of a lull in conversation, kind of a dull moment in between like some different games that we were playing and things that we were talking about. And one of our nephews got up and just started dancing in the middle of the room. Yeah. And I said, talent show. Talent show.
Yeah, then you wanted everybody in the family to share a talent. Yeah. And Emery says, can anybody yodel? Uh-huh. No one could yodel. I heard there was one yodler. I didn't hear the yodel. You didn't? No. Who yodeled? My nephew. Oh, yeah, I did hear that. He's this big. And he came over and he yodeled. And it was amazing.
Nobody got up and did a talent. Nobody wanted to talent show.
I think uh you you asked the wrong family.
There was a couple, there was a couple of kids who got up and did some weird dancing. Yeah. Which made my heart sing. And then Yep But that's where the talents ended. Yeah.
There was one yodel, a couple of awkward dance moves, if you can even call it that. And then uh that was the end of the talent show.
Talent show's over. Yeah. There are families who actually every time they like at family reunions, they do big talent shows.
Yeah, or around Christmas time, whenever they have big gatherings, yeah, but they'll also they'll have like pianos and they'll have you know all kinds of uh singing, a lot of singing, I think, in those talent shows. Yeah. Uh but yet you are not wrong. That is a thing families do. Not ours, but not apparently. Well, not not this idea.
We don't we don't have a lot of uh talent in our family.
I don't think that's necessarily the case. I think we have a lot of introvert in this family, and not a lot of like I'll put myself out there in front of everybody and see what happens. I don't think we have a lot of that.
No. Beck did say, I have a guitar, I can play the guitar. Yep. And then I went, no, because once you put a guitar in his hand, then you can't get it out.
You're gonna hear a bunch of just random riffs and yeah, which is great.
It is great when it's not in mixed company sometimes when you're trying to have a conversation. Yeah, he likes to insert himself right in the center of people who are trying to have conversation.
Well, that's the best place to play guitar, isn't it? All the performers on the street, they know put yourself where the people are. That's how you make the money. I mean, it's just you're not wrong,
but sometimes it gets a little annoying. There, I said it. Did it did it, did it, did it, did it in the middle of everything. It's great. It's it contributes. If you had to stand up spontaneously and do a talent, what would yours be?
Yeah, you you asked me to do a talent. I went, I don't have like an on-demand talent.
No, you have lots of on-demand talents. Are you crazy? Well, you could Well? for starters, you could do some magic tricks.
What magic tricks do I know just on demand that I don't have like props and and preparation for? The thumb. The thumb.
The tip of the thung is cut off. And you go, you know what I'm talking about.
Yeah, but I want to see you try to do it because you can't figure out how your hands go together. No. No, it can't be that. No, why is your thumb in between those two fingers now? You what have you done? Why did you put it in here? Like, got your thumb.
Yeah, because that's what you do, isn't it? Sure.
It looks natural. Looks good. You should have done that. Doesn't look like you you have two thumbs at all. Just the one that slides kind of. So you have magic.
You could also whistle a sweet little tune. Oh, yeah.
Let me show you my talent. Whistle a sweet little tune. You have lots of talents. So many. You have a lot of cool party. So far. A magic thumb. Yes. Which I don't walk around doing that trick. And whistle a tune.
You can also jump over your leg.
I'm too old for that move now. My knees don't like that one.
Yeah, the last time you did that a couple of years ago, you almost fell on your face, but that was a good trick. I loved when you did that.
I feel a little uh out of shape for that move. Yeah, don't try that one. Yeah. Okay, what else you got?
Spoons! You can play spoons.
I can play spoons. There's video evidence of that.
Not the game spoons. No.
Musical spoons. Musical spoons with two spoons.
See? Why didn't you why didn't you do a talent? Josh. I don't know. You could have wowed the crowd.
Yeah, they would have been like, wow. Good job.
They would have been. I'm trying. I'm sitting here trying to think of what my talent would be. Oh. You could do magic.
Saw your thumb. You could whistle one note, but in your head it's a song. You could do a series of sounds of sound impressions.
Yeah, I could. I could. Oh, I know what I would do. What? I know exactly what I would do. What is it? My Charlie Chaplin impression. It's a pretty good one. I need a cane and a mustache. That's it. And a bowler hat.
There's the part that I think is more important than the mustache. No, no way. I think the mustache is important. Not as important as the bowler hat. Really sells the look.
The cane is top importance. Then bowler hat, then mustache hat.
And then you point your toes outward. Yep. And you walk like a penguin. Yep. And you uh spin your umbrella. Umbrella cane. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I've seen that trick. It's a good impression. It is a good impression.
How many people you know do a Charlie Chaplin impression? Probably quite a few. One. You know one.
I know one that claims they can do it. I probably know a lot that could if they ever tried because I don't think it's like wicked hard.
Don't ask anyone to do that. That's my one party trick. You can't take that away from me. You have the thumb. Sitting on the bed getting ready for bed, and then I hear this. Well, I gotta sew this shirt. Yeah.
You discovered last night and posted a video of my new smoky bear shirt. Yep. Has a hole in the uh right armpit. Yep. What's that about? I don't know. It's a brand new shirt.
When I posted that on Facebook, you got all kinds of well, I got armpit buddies, apparently.
You got armpit buddies. That's that's what I'm learning. I got I've got people that also have holes in their shirt in the same spot, and they uh they want to be uh armpit shirt buddies. I think that's a great idea. Yeah. I don't uh I don't know what to say about it. How does that happen? What's the deal?
More importantly, how did you not know that happened? You didn't feel a draft or No. skin touching skin, or you didn't feel any of that. No. How did you not know? I don't know. How did somebody not point that out to you? Well, you did. It's a pretty sizable hole.
I know, and it's like right at the uh right at the seam, so it must have been sewn poorly. So now I've got to sew that shut. You could take it back. You uh I threw away the receipt. Yeah, but could I be bothered?
I know. To walk in and go, I just got this shirt and it has a hole in the armpit. Can I replace it? Just sew it.
It's just easier. Okay, so when you mean just gonna sew it. Yeah, I'm gonna take it to the sewing machine. I'm gonna turn it inside out and I'm gonna go over that little spot.
Or are you gonna take it downstairs and put it next to the sewing machine, and that's where it'll sit for months or something. No, because I want to wear the shirt.
Okay. Because I think I have, and I'm not kidding when I say this. I think there's a box of clothes that need repaired that I have not. Are they mine? Yours, Bex.
Really? I think everybody's got something. Everyone in the family's got something in that box that needs repaired, whether it's a button or a zipper. Yeah. And they go down there to die.
Why don't you knock out some of these projects? You got nothing else going on. Oh, I'm sorry. What is going on? You have got a throat.
I know. I just ate some yogurt. So it's well, don't do that. Quit doing that. Okay, time out. Where are we talking about?
You doing these projects.
Oh, yeah. Because I got nothing else going on. Yeah, that's right. Because you're not busy.
You're not just trying to exist and have like a normal summer like everybody else. You just go. Now I have to be in the basement. Sown. Chain to the sewing machine.
That's right. Get these uh alterations and repairs taken care of so that we can uh wear our clothes. I want to know what clothes I have down there because I've probably forgotten about these clothes.
I'm sure you have. They probably don't fit anymore.
What are you suggesting? They shrunk?
Yes. I am suggesting they shrunk. Well, how did that happen? Uh if if clothes sit too long, they shrink. That's a thing that happens. It's a proven fact. Yeah. It is true. That is true.
Got a closet full of clothes sitting around. I know, me too.
I'll pull one out sometimes, and then I go, well, that got smaller. That one's that too long.
So uh I want to know what clothes I have down there. Do you you don't have any I you have no idea.
Oh, call. I feel like one was like uh you had like a button up that was like plaid. It was like purple and black. That doesn't check out.
It's it will never heard of that shirt in my life.
It will. If you saw it, you'd be like, oh yeah.
Purple and black plaid?
Josh, that you probably put that down there years ago.
I don't even remember that shirt.
Yeah, I know. I'll I'll show it to you, and you'll be like, oh yeah. What's it waiting for? I think a I think a button is all. Why do I have to do it? You do it. You know how to sew.
Because I really like your defensive nature when I ask you to do simple thing like sew on a button. You sew on the button. Oh, okay.
I just don't like when people expect me to do the thing. I'll happily help.
And well, that's why I left it down there was so you could happily help. And here I am. No black and purple plaid shirt. Imagine how good I'd look in that. So sharp, I tell you. People are for miles would be like, that is a good looking shirt.
It's missing a button, but it's a good-looking... Well,
now, where's the button? Is it I mean, I know it's on the front. It's a button up. Uh-huh. Is it low, middle, high?
I don't know. I haven't looked at it in years.
What's the worst place a button could be missing? Probably like around the belly button there.
Yeah. Yeah.
That'd be a bad button to be missed. I mean, any button's bad. But that's probably one of the worst.
Yeah, that's the worst. When you sit down and then it opens,
and then you're like, it's a peekaboo. This is my belly button. Yeah, that's a bad spot. No one needs to see that. Well, I'm excited. I got like a bunch of new clothes I don't even know about.
I told you they don't they don't fit. They might. We're gonna find out. Yeah. I'm gonna put it in the calendar so we don't forget. Oh, that'll help. You know idioms.
I know you don't know all of the idioms.
I know that I mess up idioms a lot.
You confuse them. I wouldn't say you mess them up, because that sounds a little aggressive. And it's an innocent thing, and you'll just be talking and you'll be like, I've got the perfect idiom for this. And then you'll go, and then I'll go, that's two or three idioms crunched together into one.
So last night I was getting ready for bed. Yep. And I decided to make up my own idiom. This is all made up. I kind of bent over a little bit, and then it hurt getting back up because I'm old. Yeah. And I go, oh, give them the old town salute.
The old town salute. And I don't know what that means. I still am confused. I was there when it happened, and it makes just as little sense now as it did that.
It doesn't make any sense at all.
Oh, the old town salute.
For some reason, I just stood up, popped my back a little bit, and then old town salute. Give them the old town salute. What's that supposed to mean? I don't know, Josh. I I don't know.
I don't know. But I'm just gonna start making up. I'm just gonna start making them up every day. You're gonna start doing that. Oh, yeah. Like you haven't been. No, but those before it was a combination of some that already existed. But this one's your own. New territory.
This old town salute is new. Yep.
You gotta give it to him. The old town salute.
So is that just the noise you make when you stand up and stuff hurts as an older person? Is that what's happening? I'm in my 40s. Give me the old town salute.
Yeah, I think so. I think that's what it means.
I don't know what you were getting at. Like that is something else.
I think it's awesome. And I'm just gonna come up with more all the time. Yeah.
Oh, my aching back. Give it the old town salute.
See?
It makes no sense. Don't see. See, you get it.
I think maybe it means like like your hands on your back, like old town salute. You know, like stretching, your hands are on your back. Why old town? I don't know. I don't know. It just sounds good. Doesn't it?
Don't look for validation over here.
It's the only place they ever get validation. Oh no. When am I gonna go for validation?
I don't know. But maybe you can give the old town salute. I don't know. I don't know what to tell you. Old town salute.
Yeah, you were in there, you heard it, and you go, what?
I know I said immediately. What? What's that mean? What is that? Oh old town salute. And you're just laughing away like you said the funniest thing in the world.
Yeah, I did. I did. I did. Oh. Okay. If you don't know what an idiom means or the origin. Yeah. I mean, most of them people are like, I don't really understand what that means, but they say it anyway. Give me an example. Like.
Oh, please get the idioms wrong. Please. Don't look them up. From memory. Give me some idioms.
The only one I can think of off the top of my head is don't catch don't count your chickens before they're hatched. That's it's eggs. No.
No, it's it's chickens. You've got chickens. That's right. Yeah. But you normally say eggs. No, I do not. Yeah. Because it's don't put all your eggs in one basket. And that's why you you get the eggs and the chickens backwards, but you got it that you gotta write it this time.
Yes. Yes. Turn it in a new leaf.
Don't count your eggs in one basket till they hatch. Nope.
And you gotta give them the old towns. All right. Lately I've been thinking that I want to learn how to play the drums. Yeah. I really want to learn how to play the drums. Okay. And we have a drum set.
That's right. We have a full drum kit. Yeah.
We bought that a couple years ago because we thought our kids would play it. They didn't.
No, I know. And then I had a whole band uh basically set up in the garage. I put up uh put down some nice carpet, add the drums out there. I've got a PA going, two mics, like all that stuff.
And then our son has multiple guitars, bass guitars, we have keyboards, like we've got a family band. I know, let's do it. I have a slide whistle. I mean, what more do you need? You know. And a kazoo. I do have a kazoo. And I have a jaw harp.
And I've got, I'm sure I've got a nose whistle. Some maracas somewhere.
If not, you can you can make them. You just put some rice in the egg in it in an egg or a jar with some beans in it.
I think. Yeah.
We used to have a tambourine too.
Yeah, I don't know if that's still around. I don't either. But anyway, nonetheless, you want a drum. Yes. Very bad.
So I was telling Beck that I think I want to take some drum lessons. Yeah. And he said, he said this to me. Can you even believe this? He said, are you sure you're coordinated enough to play the drums? Yeah. Can you even believe my son told me that?
Yes, I can. Not because you aren't coordinated enough, but yeah, I can believe you said that.
Uh and then you said we gotta start out small.
Right. I think here's the thing. There's many parts to a drum kit. I th I feel like if we break it down to the core three elements. Yeah. The three core elements are three.
Okay, go ahead.
Your high hat, which is your right hand.
T across your body. Okay.
Look at me doing this so good already. I know.
You gotta learn how to hold a drumstick. I know. That's gonna be important because whatever that was ain't it. So we're gonna work with that. And we're gonna do uh hi hat, and then we're gonna learn how to count to four. Can we handle counting to four? That's all I want. I get. One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four.
That's all you're gonna let me have is the hi-hat. Hold on. That's step one. Okay.
Then we're gonna add in your snare. Okay. Which maybe you want to hit the snare drum uh on every second beat. Okay. So it's a one, two, one, two, uh. Oh, geez, Louise. There's your coordination. It'll build though. You'll build muscle memory in there. And then we're gonna bring in the kick drum.
I want the kitchen so bad.
So those are the three basic elements.
How do you know you're not a drum player?
I know enough about drums to know those three pieces are gonna be your core. Okay. High hat, snare, and kick drum are gonna be the thing you need to get used to doing. It's breaking down some rhythms counting to four with those three things.
Okay, I had a car drum in my car. There's symbols. Yeah.
And you played them to the vocals. So it doesn't matter. I was getting. Hey, yay. Settle down.
I was getting some good practice on those. Sure. I gotta bring them back, but it got in the way of my air conditioning. Yeah. And I determined air conditioning was more important than my simple.
True story. And then what we'll do is we'll add in some toms so you can do some fills, and then we can add in the bass drum on the side, and then we'll add in the bigger symbols. Because we've got a full kit. I know it's big.
I know, and it's sitting there resting away.
Look, if we just focus on the three, we could set that up pretty much anywhere. Because three pieces. We don't need all the big stuff. Not yet. You just need the kick drum, the hi hat and the snare. And you'll be you'll be off to the races counting to four over and over and over. I want to and mixing up some patterns.
Now I have been known to say that I want to do something and then start and then give up on it. I have been known to do that. So in 2020, I was like, I've always wanted to play the piano. Well better time than now when we're in lockdown. So we bought a piano. So we bought a piano. And I was actually doing great. You were. And then life started again. I know. And I didn't have time.
And then forever and ever and ever I've always wanted to play the cello. That's right. But I looked into that.
And even to rent a cello is pretty expensive. Are you sure? Yeah.
I mean, I'll look again, but we have the drums already. So I should just use them. Yeah. Plus also, I think it's so cool to play the drums. It is very cool. I'm gonna learn. Okay. Set me up. I'll set it up myself. The snare. You're gonna the kick drum. Yeah. And the hi hat. That's right. Okay. I'm setting that up tonight. And the stool. Yeah.
You're setting that up tonight. You're putting it in the calendar? Yeah. Where are you gonna set it up? In the living room. For real? Yeah, where am I where in the living room? In the living room. No, I heard you. Where? It's not like we got 60 square feet just available. You need some room.
I know. I'll make some room. Don't even fret. I have another idea. What? Let's clean the garage. No, ew. I can't. We were driving home the other day, and I told Beck we were all in the car. And I said, Beck, you gotta listen to this song. And he went, this is gonna be coworker music, isn't it? And I said, coworker music? What's that even mean? And he goes, Oh, it's like when your coworker says, Hey, you gotta listen to this, and they're so excited to show it to you, and you listen to it, and it's just terrible. This is the worst music you've ever heard.
And you go, Thank you, coworker.
I'm glad we aren't friends. It's bad enough. I have to work with you knowing you're a fan of that terrible music.
I didn't even know that was a thing. Apparently it's a thing. Did you look it up? No. Oh. I'm okay. How'd you know it was a thing? Well, he made it seem like a thing. Yeah. Let me look it up. It is. It is a thing. Yeah.
Generic, overplayed, inoffensive, mainstream music, often associated with office speakers, retail playlists, or NPC taste. Key examples include Imagine Dragons, Ed Sheeran, and Upbeat Commercial Pop Folk.
And Maroon Five was done there. Oh, yeah. Yeah. We have a playlist at my other job. And I have made some. Another coworker of mine have made playlists. And I feel like my playlists are like, of course, because it's music that I like, but that's right.
But it also serves a wide range of people and their musical tastes. So I think my I'm pretty pretty proud of the playlist that I've curated. Lately we've gotten a little sick of our playlist, and I just haven't gotten in to make more. Okay.
But we've been kind of just letting we've been picking some pre-made playlists. Okay. And they're not always safe. Right.
They're not always edited. And so the other day I was listening to the playlist that was playing, and I went, Oh, I'm digging this playlist. And the playlist was 90s alternative music. And I was like, this is what I know. Yeah. And then I went, Oh, that song's
This one's about to have bad words.
And it did. So I had to go skip that one. Yeah. And then we were like, should we skip like should we stop the play? It's like go, no, I know enough of this music that I can just listen. Yeah. It turns out I was up a lot changing the song.
Yeah. Somebody uh said, What is co-worker music? And someone answered, Well, it's music that your coworker listens to. Well, that makes sense. And then somebody said uh they always worked at blue-collar jobs, and the main music was bro country, uh, like butt rock, and then red hot chili peppers. And then somebody said, wait a minute, wait, wait.
Red hot chili peppers is the blue collar crowd music. Like that's what we're doing now. Like, okay.
I don't think that's what they intended, but all right. So this is interesting. It is interesting to see some of the bands that show up in this uh list. Um, Imagine Dragon shows up a lot. Oh.
Um most of the stuff we play on classy. Is that what you're saying?
Oh, well, no, we're we are at work music. So that would be uh part of our part of our appeal is that you can put it on in the office. You can put it on at work every time.
You can put it on in the car the car with your family. Yeah, you're not gonna have to get up and go change the song because of some questionable lyrics, right? Exactly. We're gonna keep you entertained and stuff, hopefully, too. So we are. That's yes, we are mainstream music. That's kind of the thing. But uh anyway, yeah, we are less than uh co-worker music, more than co-worker music.
We are your co-worker. Yeah. That provides the music. We are your co-worker. That's right.
And we are your family. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
You do not agree. No, I mean, yeah, sure. We are family. All right. Okay. Anyway, happy to be your co-worker. Thanks for bringing us to work. Yeah. Yeah. We're your coworker music.
I've been with you for 23 years. We've been married for 21, and I don't know the answer to this question. Okay. When you go to take a shower, do you get in the shower and then turn the water on, or do you turn the water on and then get in? No, I'm not a maniac. I know. Who does that? I don't know. I just read that some people do that.
Get in the shower and then turn it on. No. I learned a long time ago. That's the wrong way to do it.
Absolutely. That's right.
Well, you like freeze yourself and then go, oh, finally, warmth.
No. Okay, hold on, though, because as I'm thinking about it, there have been times where I've gotten in the shower and then turned it on. For example, at the gym.
Okay, but that's different because you walk in, it's a it's you don't have to stand under the water in order to turn it on. Yeah. Because it's it's sideways. Yeah.
So Or there's been like different camping areas that we've been at in the showers. Yeah, but again, I no. No.
Like if I use like I I'm trying to think of like the two different places where they have like a shower house, or even uh other places. The the dressing area is behind the curtain. So you like there's a dual curtain thing, or there's a locking door with a restroom where you would undress and then the shower is a separate area. Uh-huh. I've never been in one where it's all one area. No. Nope. I have.
Because I know that I've stood there in the cold waiting for it to warm up. So there have been times I've done that. But I don't like it. No way. No.
Get in and then turn on the water. Do you remember all that? No way.
Do you remember when I was doing the cold plunge in the shower? No. I told you about this.
No, that's not a cold plunge.
I understand it's not a cold plunge. But I would sit in the cold water for about five to seven minutes. Five to seven seconds. No.
You're in cold water for five minutes. Yeah, right. Yeah, right. Okay.
It might have been, it might have been 30 seconds to a minute.
30 seconds tops. No way. You know how long 30 seconds is? It's a million years when you're freezing in the shower. No way. No way.
But I was like, do you remember when I first started to do it? I was like, I'm going to do this every day.
I wasn't there. So no, I don't remember it.
Like I told you about it.
I talked about it on the radio. Hey, I didn't say I don't remember. I just said you're acting like I was there. Remember when I was doing that? No, I don't. Remember when I told you I was doing that? Yes. Okay. But no, I don't remember when you were doing it.
Okay, so I told you I was doing it. How many times? I probably did it twice. And then I was like, I'm gonna do this every day because cold plunging is good for you. And I didn't want to necessarily cold plunge. But I wanted to feel alive. So oh man.
The cold water is still what? 50 degrees. I don't know. I don't know. It's not cold. It's not ice cold. It's not shocking your nervous system. It's just cold water.
That's that's shocking my nervous system. I remember sitting in there going like, whoo. the Okay, the point is I was gonna do that every day. I think I did it twice. And then I stopped. So that went well for me.
Yeah, I was correct.
The average temperature of cold tap water is 45 to 60 degrees.
The coldest you're gonna get is 45.
How cold is a cold plunge? They actually hold on, because they've done some research that said that cold plunging isn't necessarily beneficial for women as much as this is for men. So I didn't even need to do it.
That's fair. It actually for beginners is 55 to 65. See? The more advanced uh experienced plungers will go down to like somewhere around 40 degrees. So it's not that far off, actually. I did not know that.
I'll accept your apology now.
I don't need to apologize. Yeah, you do. No.
Yes, you do. No.
And it does say that you should limit it to two to three minutes up to a maximum of five minutes as you gain experience.
I am almost positive I did five minutes.
No, you did not.
You are going on a backpacking trip next week. Yeah. In the SATUS. That's right. And I just want to remember. Saw teeth. I think they call it. Reds. No. Get get out. Okay.
See ya. So this is that Ways World scene where Wayne leaves cars all alone. And he's like, I'm having a good time. Yeah. That's right. Okay. I just wanted to remind you, there's that story going around where there was the hiker. Oh, man. And he got the hiking pole through the bigger.
Have you seen this picture? Yes.
Like you have to click a yeah, I want to see this image in order to see it. Um it's crazy. I don't know.
He said that he slipped on some loose rocks and one of his trekking poles went through his back and out his side, leaving eight inches of the pole between the entry and exit wounds.
Yeah, I I saw the picture. I didn't realize how I thought it was just kind of like through some skin.
It like went through his body. No, it impaled him. It went through his body.
And he said he is an emergency room nurse, and he kind of after it happened, he said that he quickly assessed his injuries and realized that the pole had missed some of his vital, well, his all of his vital organs.
Yeah. And so he was like good and lucky. Yeah, he was like, I was just like, I was non-nine non-life threatening. So I'm getting down the mountain on my own power. And he walked down the mountain with the pole stuck in his body. Yeah. Uh so I just want to say to you, Josh. Yeah. Be careful.
Well, no. While you're hiking. I mean, yeah. I'm I'm trying to figure out how he fell and got that. How did that even happen?
I don't know. He said it was kind of just a freak thing, and he just slipped on some rocks, but I don't I don't know.
Well, and then he had to walk for six and a half hours after that to get to where he could get it. I know it's crazy. And then he had to be driven two hours to a hospital in Billings, Montana, where they removed the trekking pole. It had been in his body for nine hours. Oh dude.
I just how do you get I don't even know. I don't even know the first step to even get it out. I'm very happy and thankful that there are people who study how to do this kind of stuff.
The first step would be uh put me to sleep. I don't want to feel
that you think he attempted to pull that out on his own. No, because he That's rule number one.
Well, he is a an emergency room nurse, and so I he said as soon as able I was able to self-assess and establish that it was non-life threatening, I was convinced I was gonna get off that mountain under my own power. Well, good for you, bud. Anyway, if you haven't seen this story, there's it the picture's pretty careful.
There's some pretty graphic images.
It's pretty wild. Pretty wild. If you have a fate heart, I don't.
I'm always like, let me see it.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay, be careful, Josh. Please.
I'm really just trying to figure out how he fell on it. I don't know. I couldn't tell you. Like, that's the part that's sort of uh mind-boggling to me. Here's the other thing. He realized it was non-life threatening and then continued to do the summit and then hiked up. I didn't hear that part. I'm looking at a picture of him at the peak. Get out. And he's got it stabbing him in his back.
That's kind of dumb because what he knew it wasn't life threatening. No, I understand that. But what if you fall again and it gets lodged deeper or worse?
Well, and he wasn't super bleeding either. Isn't that weird?
Yeah, this dude is a freak of nature. This guy's crazy. Yeah. He doesn't even have any organs. He's a robot. You cyborg.
You humanoid robot. Climbing mountains. I don't know. It is mountains.
with a pole stuck in your body. You crazy. I'll be careful. Please. Yeah.
I I no impalements.
Tell all your hiking buddies to be careful too. Uh no. Jen? Brandy. Zay.
No impalements. Would you rather this or that?
Would you rather be stuck in an elevator together for six hours or on a road trip with no cell service for 12 hours? With no cell service? Yeah.
I'm not I'm on the road trip anyway. I'm driving. Yeah.
So that's fine. You're the one that has to deal with no cell service. Yeah, no cell service.
You get no music for 12 hours. Guess what? No. You guess what? Take a nap. Because it's gonna be peaceful, easy feeling.
No, it will not be. Uh both circumstances are gonna be me, chatting, chatting. Yeah, I know.
Here's the thing, though. Road trip for 12 hours. Like, that's a big one. That is a big one.
With no cell service. So we're just going down I 80, is all. That's it. We're just down in the middle of nowhere. That's fine. Yeah.
12 hours. Now I might fall asleep for maybe an hour or two. That still leaves you with 10 hours of me.
I gotta figure out where can we get it's 12 hours.
And if we have no cell service and there's no music, guess what's gonna happen next? What? Singing. Car dancing, all kinds of stuff. Josh. Settle down. Stuck in an elevator with me for six or a road trip with me for 12.
All right. So it's 11 hours and 18 minutes to Seattle. Okay. So let's say it's that trip.
I just wanted to know how far I was going.
I just told you.
That's 11 hours and 18 minutes. I just want to have a destination. Okay. I can make it longer if we go up through northern Idaho. I make it 12 hours and 24 minutes. But nonetheless, it's it's a road trip to Seattle. Okay, great. With no cell service. Yep.
Just me chit chatting the whole way.
It's one road, so I'm not gonna need GPS that much. I'm kind of think I can figure that out.
I feel like I'm donkey in a little bit of a way. I am the donkey to your Shrek. I know. You love me.
Uh I'm gonna take the road trip. Are you really? Yeah, but also you're gonna take the nap.
Yeah, I will. But again, it's one to two hours. It's not gonna be a nap the whole time.
Oh, I'm gonna let you sleep a lot longer than that.
You're gonna give me some Benadryl or something? Shh. Quiet on down now. What are you picking? I'm gonna pick an elevator.
Why do you want to be trapped in an elevator for six hours? It's such a small space. And if it's if it isn't running, there's a good chance there's no AC. That's gonna be terrible. Ugh. You just want to be rescued by firemen.
Don't say that out of the way.
Would you rather this or that?
I don't you have to start this one off because I don't. Do you want me to say it? Well, I just don't even know how this began. Uh we were sitting on the couch, each of us were scrolling our phones. Yeah. And then all of a sudden you just were like, sweet baby raise. Listen. That was a good one.
That was that was a really good one. That was probably your best one yet. That was my best one. Yeah. That was your best one yet.
Well, sometimes things just happen and they're unexplainable.
We just do really dumb stuff to entertain ourselves.
Sweet baby raise.
The idea is that you have to make it like we're in a commercial or something, but we have to really sell the stuff. We baby raise. That was good. Your other one was better, I think.
Because you you gotta get low with it. And sweet baby raised.
Tangy sweet barbecue sauce of sweet baby raise.
I don't know where it started.
But then we just couldn't stop saying sweet baby race.
Yeah, you were you were much better at it than I was. Surprise. Well, I made it up.
So there is no scale at being like, oh, you do it better. Like you do it closer to the original. Yeah, no kidding. Because I made it up. Sweet baby raise. Yeah, you do it. So yeah, I do it pretty good. I'm the one who invented it.
If you're listening right now, please, please, please take a minute and just do it. Just stop everything you're doing real quick. Just try it. You gotta get real low with it. Get low.
And then sweet baby raise. It just sounds so good.
Sweet baby raise.
Oh, right. You got whispery. You didn't get low. You got whispering. I got real low. Oh, okay.
Sweet baby race.
Oh, okay. I don't know what happened. We were sitting on the couch. There was no reason. I think, I don't know. I only think I saw like meat. Like I just was like, sweet baby race. It sounded fun. And then it just became a loop of trying to say it different ways. Like it's it's there is that uh that trend where it's like say something, you know, romantic. Say it say the phrase like exactly.
Sarcastically. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh-huh. I wanted to try that trend, but then I saw it everywhere.
Sweet baby raised.
Sweet baby race. Yes. I don't know.
They need to give us money. Uh that's what I think.
Yeah, we just advertise for them quite a lot. Yeah. I don't But also...
I it wasn't even like cleaning the fridge out. Sweet baby raised. Yeah.
If you would like us to do your next commercial, we are available. Pay me the money. I will do it. But you're gonna have to pay me. You gotta pay me the money. Sweet payroll.
Stupid. Yeah, I don't uh I don't know where it comes from.
No, but this is uh this is what it's like hanging out with us. We get bored? We're a delight.
Well, on that sweet baby note, I think we'll wrap up today's show.
It's been a fun one today. I had a good time. Did you have a good time? I did. Great. Yeah. Well, see you later then.
Sweet baby raise.
