Good morning and

welcome to Morning Syria.

(upbeat music)

All right, good morning

and welcome to Wednesday.

It is midweek and

today we are celebrating

Facebook's birthday.

Unbelievably, Facebook

was created on this date

all the way back in 2024,

which means past versions

of ourselves had no idea

we were about to say goodbye to our

beloved MySpace pages.

Well, now the answer to

yesterday's trivia answer,

aluminum, the most abundant metal

in Earth's crust is aluminum.

And now the essential

vitamins in your morning cereal,

today's quote is from

birthday boy Clint Black

who is turning 64 years old today,

who said, quote, "I'm

just one of those people

"that thinks things happen for a reason

"and you just have to

look for the reason."

Now look, life is gonna

happen to all of us, right?

Both good and bad and if

we stay cognizant to it,

those events, they may

carry an underlining purpose

or lesson for us.

So keep an optimistic

mindset to find meaning

in those challenging situations

rather than viewing them as just random

or senseless accidents.

All right, well, let's

hear from the experts now.

It's time to pour in

some the let them theory

by Mel Robbins.

And in chapter 17, Mel Robbins,

she brings together a

central theme of the book,

letting go of control

while staying grounded

in responsibility.

Now, this chapter was about

releasing the emotional labor

of managing other people's reactions

and their

expectations and those outcomes.

Mel wrote, quote, "When

you stop trying to control

"how others feel, you free

yourself to live honestly."

End quote.

Now, many of us exhaust ourselves

trying to anticipate

reactions, soften truths for people

or just trying to keep the peace.

And chapter 17, it

challenges that pattern.

Mel explains that control

often disguises itself as care.

We say we're helping, but

what we're actually doing

is avoiding discomfort.

And Mel is reminding readers

that discomfort is

not danger, it's growth.

So another standout line

in this chapter was, quote,

"You are not responsible for managing

"someone else's emotions."

End quote.

In that sentence alone,

it can change how you

approach relationships,

how you approach them at

work and even family dynamics.

So letting people

experience their reactions

allows you to stay

rooted in your own values.

And Mel emphasizes that letting go,

it doesn't mean

disengaging with these people.

It means showing up

without self-betrayal.

You can be kind without being controlled.

You can be honest

without being harsh to people.

All right, here is

your hump day takeaway.

Letting go of control creates space

for authenticity and peace.

So today, post-less maybe, live more

and stay rooted in who you are.

And now the prize from the

bottom of the cereal box,

the morning cereal

trivia question of the day.

Here it is.

All right, how many bones

are there in the human hand?

All right, hey, thanks for

listening to morning cereal.

We will see you back here tomorrow

for the answer to the trivia question

and more sugar for the soul.
