Kivowitz in this episode, we're going to talk about editing and post-production. This includes basic editing techniques, enhancing audio quality and adding music and effects. Here are a few editing techniques that you can use for your podcast. Trim silence, trim any silence from the beginning, middle and end of your recordings.
[00:00:53] Anything that is unwanted. Also remove unwanted noise, use a noise gate to remove [00:01:00] background noise from your recordings. Normalize audio levels, normalizing the audio levels of your recordings are making it so that it's consistent throughout the episodes. Lows will be raised. Highs will be lowered to make it more even and consistent. Split and merge audio, split your recordings into different clips and merge them back together to create the desired effect, the desired outcome.
[00:01:24] Don't be afraid to chop your podcasts and rearrange as needed. Add effects. Add feeds to the beginning and end of your recording to create a smooth transition or in between topics within each episode. Here are a few tips for enhancing the audio quality of your recordings. Use EQ. Use EQ to adjust the frequencies of your recordings. This can help improve the clarity and balance of your audio. Use compression using compression can reduce the dynamic range of your recordings, making the audio sound more consistent [00:02:00] as well. Use reverb. Use reverb to add a sense of space to recordings.
[00:02:05] This can help to make your audio sound more immersive. If your room is too audibly, dry. I use noise reduction. Use noise reduction to remove unwanted noise from your recordings. You could add music and effects to your podcast to make it even more engaging and more enjoyable for your listeners. Here are a few tips for adding music and effects to your podcast. Use royalty-free or properly licensed music and sound effects. There are many websites where you can download free music and sound or find music to actually license.

I find it the simplest for podcast editing, but I know others who use Final Cut Pro GarageBand, Adobe Premiere, and even DaVinci Resolve. Find what works best for you. Editing and post-production are of course important steps in the podcasting process.
