Psalms 9: 9-10
A weekday morning devotional series written by Aaron Marcarelli and hosted by Chad McBeam
“The Lord also will be a stronghold for the oppressed, A stronghold in times of trouble; And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.”
Psalms 9:9-10 NASB1995
Corrie Ten Boom wrote “Look at the world you will be distressed. Look within you’ll be depressed. Look at Christ you will be at rest.” Corrie and her family were Christians living in Nazi occupied Holland, during WWII. Her and her family participated in the resistance movement and hid Jews. For this they were interned at Ravensbrook. She wrote these words while being in turned. Many of you are familiar with this book, it’s called The Hiding Place.
We can’t let our circumstances dictate how we serve God.
The apostle Paul speaks to this very topic when he says in Philippians 4:12-13: “I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
Once again We can’t let our circumstances dictate how we serve God. Corrie did not. She and her family owned a watchmaking shop and they did very well. Yet, They did the right thing in the sight of God. They could have been safe. All they had to do was mind their own business. But God, called them to a higher purpose.
They acted and I’m sure they felt as though all was lost when they were arrested and sent to Ravensbrook. However even in the midst of all the death and destruction they served and glorified God.
God calls us all to a higher purpose.
This age is no different from any other. We are always in a time of dire straits. For we fight for the souls of the lost. We are on the winning side, but the battle is fierce and we will be wounded and when it looks as though all is lost, here comes Jesus on the third day on a white horse with 10,000 angels to vanquish the enemy.
Trust God always, be refined by the fires of life. Remember by going through the fire we are refined, renewed and restored. For in Christ alone we find rest!
Lord, thank you that you give us rest. Thank you for fighting for us before we even knew there was a fight. Thank you for fighting with us now, and thank you in advance for fighting the battles ahead of us. Help us to trust in you to fight the good fight and be renewed through the fight. We praise you, we love you and we will seek to serve you always. In Jesus Name we pray Amen…
Shalom, Blessings and Press In and Press On!
