What is ...But God?

A weekday morning devotional series written by Aaron Marcarelli and hosted by Chad McBeam

“And if you offer yourself to the hungry And satisfy the need of the afflicted, Then your light will rise in darkness, And your gloom will become like midday. “And the Lord will continually guide you, And satisfy your desire in scorched places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.”
Isaiah 58:10-11 NASB2020
What does praising our Lord look like? Yes it is singing songs to God, but it’s also through; reverent prayer, giving of our time, giving of our tithes and offering, through humble submission to his will, and just being in his presence. When we praise Him we have that relationship with Him that Isaiah is speaking of. That no matter what we go through, no matter how difficult life gets, we serve the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Because we know our strength comes from Him and He will lift us up and through - always.
Over the next few days we are going to look at how people praised the newborn Jesus.
Mary was the faithful chosen servant, who did what she was asked to do, Joseph was the stoic provider who worshiped by his actions. Elizabeth and John the Baptist “jumped for joy” the angels sang “hosanna in the highest” the shepherds bowed and worshiped their newborn king. The Wisemen brought their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Each and every day, let us do our best to worship Christ in all those ways.

Lord we praise you for your incredible and amazing gift. The gift of grace. A gift we don’t deserve and yet we were freely given. We have the forgiveness of sin and eternal life with you. There is no better gift. We will worship and praise you always for this gift. Give us strength to praise you in the difficulties of life. Help us to always seek to be in your presence. In Jesus Name Amen…
