Part 1
Arcade Fire – Ready to Start
Emmett Kai – Nature’s Voice Is A Cry
CASTLEBEAT – All the Time
The Death of Pop – For A Minute
Scarlet Rae – Seems Like Forever
Forever Honey – I’ve Been Down

Facts
Arcade Fire – Ready to Start
- On this date in 2010, Canadian band Arcade Fire release The Suburbs, the band’s 3rd studio album. Loved by fans & critics alike, the record went on to win Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards, Best International Album at the 2011 BRIT Awards, Album of the Year at the 2011 Juno Awards, and the 2011 Polaris Music Prize for best Canadian album.
- In discussing the album, Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler explains that it "is neither a love letter to, nor an indictment of, the suburbs - it's a letter from the suburbs."
Emmett Kai – Nature’s Voice Is A Cry
- Interesting artist right here, originally from San Francisco now based in Brooklyn. This is the latest single from Kai, which was put out by Unisex Records.
- The artist has a great quote I read in an interview done with Equate Magazine, which says, “Everything evolves and changes and gets better and gets worse. It's only a matter of time before we realize how lovely your neighbour is or funny your mother is."
CASTLEBEAT – All the Time
- This is the latest from the solo project of another Brooklyn-based artist Josh Hwang. This is part of the artist’s latest album Half Life which just dropped last week.
- Hwang is also the owner of the amazing Spirit Goth Records.
The Death of Pop – For A Minute
- For those unfamiliar, this band is a quartet out of the UK who also has a fifth non-musical member helping with the songwriting process.
- Interestingly, the lead man Angus King kind of put together the band after growing tired of the music and touring life and opting to get a teaching job.
- During training, King wrote a couple of demos and those were the seeds that would bring about The Death of Pop, who describe their sound as janglegaze, which is surely a new one for me.
- This is a standalone, the band’s first since releasing their 5th studio album last year called Seconds, if you indeed crave some after hearing that.
Scarlet Rae – Seems Like Forever
- This is a tune picking up a lot of listeners since release way back in January initially, so admittedly this is a bit of a slept on pick for tonight’s finish for part 1.
- Still only 19, it seems like the artist’s incredibly soft melodic approach is catching on with listners. Very good stuff.
Forever Honey – I’ve Been Down
- Now we rocked this quartet out of Brooklyn’s last single Singing to Let England Shake just a little while ago maybe last month. This tune just dropped 5 days ago seeing the band making good on their promise earlier in the year that plenty more was to come.
- The band says of the track, “‘I’ve Been Down’ is about an instance of trying hard to force feelings for someone and what that state of staleness and auto-pilot looks and feels like–mentally checking out all the time; staring at the ceiling; going through the motions.

Part 2
YUJU ft. BIG Naughty - Evening
Claire Rosinkranz - 123
Em Beihold - Goo
Perfume - Drive'n the Rain
Mela Femmina - Hello Chic
Ashe - Shower With My Clothes On

Facts

YUJU ft. BIG Naughty - Evening 3.37
- Yuju’s voice is a treat no matter what she’s singing.
- Our artist invites rapper Big Naughty for contrasting texture and style.
- And our new single Evening (이브닝) is all about the viiiiibe.
- It has a calming effect that lulls you into a state of docile detachment
- It's a pretty simple, easy listening summer song for sure.

Claire Rosinkranz - 123 2.18
- 18-year-old Southern California singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Claire Rosinkranz has released her new single, “123”.
- The track showcases Claire’s seamless ability to shift back and forth between vibes effortlessly with style.
- Claire’s also currently working on her debut album, of which she recently disclosed “[It’s going] so, so, so good. I’m pumped. Finally picked which songs are going on the album, and now we just have to finalise production, but it should hopefully be coming soon.”

Em Beihold - Goo 2.57
- Los Angeles singer and songwriter Em Beihold ( bye-hold) releases her debut EP Egg in the Backseat.
- Since the release of her debut single “Numb Little Bug” earlier this year, Em has quickly grown into one of 2022’s “ones to watch.”
- Em says, "I had the most fun making this EP with my collaborators and I feel it comes through in the music. If you liked “Numb Little Bug,” be prepared for some more blunt, sunny pop."
- If you like Goo, check out the EP!

Perfume - Drive'n the Rain 6.17
- Japanese Electro pop group Perfume, or Pafyumu, have released their seventh studio album, PLASMA.
- According to the Group's management, Plasma is an urban electropop album containing tracks from various genres such as city pop, bass music, pop-rock, and funk, with the entire album being "suitable for a change of pace in driving"
- Our pick, Drive'n the Rain is the 9th track to the album.
- I just hope this isn't the one that would actually change your pace in driving to something.. violent.

Mela Femmina - Hello Chic 4.26
- South-East London based Mela Femmina has shared new track ‘Hello Chic’.
- The synth composer was born in Northern Italy, and was drawn to analogue synths after encountering some original 80s Italo Disco cuts.
- ‘Hello Chic’ represents the stay of something new.
- Her debut single and the icy synths are paired along to brittle but engaging beats.
- Mela says the song is “really about my emancipation after a long and intense relationship, finding my feet and transforming this pain into something positive and cathartic that involved one of the places so close to my heart – Bologna.” (boloñya)

Ashe - Shower With My Clothes On 3.04
- “Shower With My Clothes On” is the fourth single from Ashe’s second album, Rae.
- Ashe says ""Shower With My Clothes On" is what my head feels like when it’s spinning; out of control anxiety and the world feeling like it’s closing in on you.
- It’s about remembering those last few moments in a relationship when you’re hopelessly hanging on but know you have to let go."
- That sounds more of trying to find the answer to a history test at the end of an exam. Ya know don't know the answer, but u can't let go.

Part 3

Yama - Kubittake
Artemas - Hello Again
Surfaces - Rooftops

- Today's pick, Kubittake is their newest single, collaborated with Japanese artist Vaundy!
- If you like what you hear today, make sure to check out their upcoming tour. Details, unknown.

Artemas - Hello Again 1.54
- Artemas might call himself a wannabe pop star but the reality is he’s on his way to becoming something new, and in a good way.
- The Young British artist has given us countless good singles AND a debut album earlier this year!
- “A rainy day in the sunshine state” is how Artemas describes his music. His description – based on a terrible storm during his only visit to LA – epitomizes his enthusiastically sarcastic attitude towards life that is also evident in his music.
- Recently he has also finished a lo-fi (down tempo) remix with Will Joseph Cook on their track, Kisses.

Surfaces - Rooftops 3.0
- Texas-based pop duo Surfaces have announced their upcoming album Hidden Youth, out August 26th.
- In conjunction with the announcement, they also released their new single, “Rooftops”

ROE - Cold Feet 4.14
- ROE releases her new single ‘Cold Feet’ on 22nd July and announces the release for her debut album ’That’s When The Panic Sets In’ on September 23rd.
- Cold Feet is a brooding and driving slice of indie piano pop written about the struggles of Imposter Syndrome.
- The Artist says, "Regularly I feel like a stranger in my own body and start to doubt my own actions. It’s difficult to feel like you’re worth something when there’s a voice in the back of your mind saying that you don’t really belong here.
- It’s also something I struggle talking about with anyone, so I guess this song is my way around that. Every time I play it on stage the fear gets a little smaller.”

A.O. Gerber - Hunger 2.52
- Los Angeles based musician A.O. Gerber is pleased to announce news of her sophomore album, Meet Me At The Gloaming, that will see release on October 14,
- In addition to this news she has shared new track "Hunger", a tender and expressive reflection on the nuance of the opposing forces we face in our lives and culture,
- I've spent so much of my life vacillating between these polarities, craving and negating," Gerber says. "Both states of being are a hunger for something, and I like to think there's a reality where pleasure and accountability to yourself and others can coexist."

Part 4
Julien Chang - Marmalade
CD Ghost - Nowhere
Gray - Good
Sleepy Soul - Apricot Dreams
Blasé - Unknown Getaway
Lava La Rue - Motel

Facts

Julien Chang - Marmalade 3.58
- Julien Chang offers another dreamy tune with new single “Marmalade.”
- It is described that The verses are the positive struggle of trying to make sense of a past romantic experience; the choruses are the ensuing confrontation with non-sense.”

CD Ghost - Nowhere 3.11
- Los Angeles synthpop outfit CD Ghost has unveiled the video for their new single, “Nowhere,” from their forthcoming LP Night Music, due out on the 11th of November.

- Night Music will be their first expanding their dream pop palette toward the edges of dark wave, avant-pop, and shoegaze.
- The LP was conceived as an ode to the musical tradition of nocturnes – songs written about or for the night.

Gray - Good 1.46
- We got another mystery on the Loose.
- No to be confused the well known Korean Artist Gray, NOR the American experimental band formed by artist Jean-Michel Basquiat and filmmaker Michael Holman in 1979.
- Gray, is a new and sadly unknown artist of soft vibes and sweet acoustic tunes.
- This new single is Good as the title says, hence me, without knowing who they may be, wanted to share with our good people at GFN.

Sleepy Soul - Apricot Dreams 3.51
- I am back with a new single from Sleepy Soul called Apricot Dreams.
- Based in St. Louis, indie pop band Sleepy Soul blends infectious vocals, dreamy synths, and warbly guitars.
- Both members produce Sleepy Soul's music from their bedroom studios in different states.
- After their previous single Summers With You, they've given us another nice, but toned down, summer tune to vibe with.
- The song itself is about sweet dreams and hallucination..
- To you, what would an Apricot Dream mean?

Blasé - Unknown Getaway 4.13
- Blasé, to be unimpressed or indifferent to something because one has experienced or seen it so often before.
- Funny enough, that's not the case with this artist.
- From Asheville Chicago, Blasé has given us their newest album, Vertigo Valley.
- Filled with Dreamy vocals, mellow beats, just entirely dream-alicious atmosphere, Blasé really does transport you to an Unknown Getaway.

Lava La Rue - Motel 3.29

- Whether collaborating with their creative pals, sampling beats, or putting on events, the star on the rise is quickly gaining recognition for their own brand of lo-fi, experimental hip-hop.
- Their newest EP, Hi- Fidelity, demonstrates a creative transition which La Rue describes as "one last project" which "acts as the bridge between the Lava that debuted, the one everyone knows, and the person I’m becoming."
- Motel is the last of the 5 track alt-pop hit, please go check them out.
