The propers of the day according to the 1962 Roman Missal. A Feria of the fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost, September 7 in the year of our Lord 2026. Of this Sunday, Dom Gaspar Lefevre writes the following, The mass reminds us that having received the Holy Ghost at the feast of Pentecost and Jesus in holy communion, our souls and bodies should be moved by the spirit and entirely obedient to the operation of the divine gift of the Eucharist so that it be no longer our own nature but the effect of this sacrament that dominates in us. Christ has snatched us from the death of sin as he once snatched the young man of Nahum from natural death. And in this he responds to the compassion he feels for our mother, the church, who laments over sinners just as he was moved by the poor widow who lamented over her son.
Vox Liturgica:This supernatural life which is that of the church must always dwell in us and bear fruit making us not only avoid the works of the flesh as Saint Paul told us last Sunday but also practice the works of the spirit which are the love of our neighbor and mistrust in ourselves since we are nothing without Jesus Christ. In the name of the father, and of the son, and of the holy ghost. Amen. The introit. Turn thy ear, o Lord, and listen to me.
Vox Liturgica:Rescue this servant of thine, my God, that puts his trust in thee. Have mercy, O Lord, for mercy I plead continually. Comfort thy servant's heart, this heart that aspires, Lord, to thee. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost as it was in the beginning is now and will be through all ages of ages. Amen.
Vox Liturgica:Turn thy ear, O Lord, and listen to me. Rescue this servant of thine, my God, that puts his trust in thee. Have mercy, O Lord, for mercy I plead continually. The collect, let us pray. Let thy continued pity, O Lord, cleanse and defend thy church.
Vox Liturgica:And since without thee she cannot hold her ground, may she be guided by thy unceasing care through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen. A lesson from the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Galatians. Brethren, since we live by the spirit, let the spirit be our rule of life. We must not indulge vain ambitions, envying one another and provoking one another to envy.
Vox Liturgica:Brethren, if a man is found guilty of some fault you who are spiritually minded ought to show a spirit of gentleness in correcting him. Have an eye upon thyself. Thou too wilt perhaps encounter temptation. Bear the burden of one another's failings. Then you will be fulfilling the law of Christ.
Vox Liturgica:The man who thinks he is of some worth when in truth he is worth nothing at all is merely deluding himself. Everyone should examine his own conduct then he will be able to take the measure of his own worth. No need to compare himself with others. Each of us then will have his own load to carry. Your teachers are to have a share in all that their disciples have to bestow.
Vox Liturgica:Make no mistake about it. You cannot cheat God. A man will reap what he sows. If nature is his seed ground, nature will give him a perishable harvest. If his seed ground is the spirit it will give him a harvest of eternal life.
Vox Liturgica:Let us not be discouraged then over our acts of charity. We shall reap when the time comes if we persevere in them. Let us practice generosity to all while the opportunity is ours and above all to those who are one family with us in the faith. The gradual. Sweet it is to praise the Lord, to sing most high God in honor of thy name, to proclaim thy mercy and faithfulness at daybreak and at fall of night.

Vox Liturgica:At that time, Jesus was going into a city called Naom, attended by his disciples and by a great multitude of people. When the Lord saw her he had pity on her, and said, Do not weep.
Vox Liturgica:Then he went up and put his hand on the bier and those who were carrying it stood still. And he said, young man, I say to thee, rise up. And the dead man sat up and spoke, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. They were all overcome with awe and said, praising God, A great prophet has risen up among us. God has visited his people.
Vox Liturgica:The Offertory Patiently, I waited for the Lord's help, and at last he turned his look towards me. He listened to my plea. He has framed a new music on my lips, a song of praise to our God. The secret. Lord, may thy sacrament guard us and evermore defend us from the devil's onslaughts through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages.
Vox Liturgica:Amen. The common preface. Just it is indeed and fitting, right in for our salvation, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks unto thee, Oh, Lord, father almighty, everlasting God, through whom the angels praise thy majesty. The dominions worship it. The power stand in awe.
Vox Liturgica:The heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify. We entreat thee that thou command it be permitted us to join with them in confessing thee while we say with lowly praise. Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. The heavens and the earth are full of thy glory. Hosanna in the highest.
Vox Liturgica:Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. The communion. The bread which I am to give is my flesh given for the life of the world. The post communion.
Vox Liturgica:Let us pray. Lord, may the working of thy heavenly gift take hold of us. We pray thee, body and soul, so that its action may evermore forestall our impulse. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen.
