but what is going on?

Everybody, welcome.

live from san jose california it's the

clydesdale it's breakfast with the

clydesdale here hopefully you guys are

having brunch or lunch or whatever is

going on around the world uh just wanted

to come in do a quick show this

morning talk about what i saw yesterday um

spent all my day at

the Masters CrossFit Games.

I'm going to talk about that a little

bit.

I ran into some people while I was

there,

got some intel as to how day one

of the Open Division went for some

athletes.

So we'll talk about that.

And it's good to see everybody,

Jody and Nicole and Seema and Tessa.

I...

I think I want to start by saying

that I know I'm really hard on Bob

and Joe,

but I also know that they're up against

a lot with the way the format, uh,

of the games is now and what they

have to do and what they're required to

do.

And, um,

and what they're not allowed to do.

I will say like I was really critical

of the programming coming in.

I still think some of it could have

been better.

That final event yesterday was really fun

to watch.

Watching these athletes who are on

the older side of things.

These are not the open elite athletes do

DT at a speed that I could only

dream of.

Some of the high end athletes were

finishing that they had intervals to do

it.

I think they were four minute intervals

with one minute rest.

and they had to do an echo bike

buy-in every single round might have been

five minutes but the echo bike took a

good chunk of that first minute minute and

a half and then they would run out

and do dt and and they were getting

into the fourth round of dt which is

five rounds

some finished the fourth round in that

first window i i was aghast they were

so freaking good um it was a fun

way to watch it because you were looking

for them to see how many they they

did great storytelling by you had to

advance the floor the floor every round um

And you were rooting for people to get

through as many rounds as possible in that

first round.

So they wouldn't have to go back and

do the echo bike just to get back

into the thing.

It was really, really fun to watch.

And, you know,

I'm a bit partial to my girl, Carolyn.

She came off the echo bike like last

in the first round.

And...

She made up so much ground on the

barbell cycling.

Her deadlifts are insane.

And I think she was the only female

in her heat that went straight from the

hang cleans to the push jerks.

It was...

It was a sight to behold.

It really was.

Everybody was breaking with one hand clean

to go,

because then you have to hand clean and

go to the shouldered overhead or whatever

you want to call that.

And she, holy shit,

like just right into it.

She caught up to everybody.

I think only one person finished ahead of

her.

And on the first,

she finished it in two rounds and you

were allowed three.

And she came off the echo bike last

and I think both rounds and still ended

up finishing second overall in the event

or second in her heat,

which was good enough for her when she

won going away.

Everybody that was close to her she beat.

And so now the Sunday night CrossFit show

has a champion on its roster.

which is really, really freaking cool.

And the medal looks awesome.

If you didn't see her post yesterday,

it looks awesome.

So the rounds were actually descending.

Thanks, Vicky.

Five, four, three-minute rounds,

decreasing Echo Cows, Max DT, great event.

It really was.

It was a fun way to end the

Masters games.

And it really filled up.

The convention center was really full for

that.

The vibes were awesome.

Some of the athletes from,

or some of the coaches and the athletes

from the elite division,

the adaptives had showed up.

They were all in there.

The stands were pretty full for that DT

workout yesterday,

and it was probably two,

three deep the entire way around the floor

on the gate.

So great crowd yesterday.

Really cool to see all that and great

stuff.

NAI, did Jamie get all stitched up?

I saw she was bleeding.

So, uh, Jamie got hurt on event one.

Uh,

we talked about that yesterday running

with the med ball.

She couldn't see and ran into a lamp

post, um,

as she was making the final turn into,

uh, the finish, um,

the men and women ran together.

The men were there and they,

and there was two men battling.

They kind of pushed Jamie.

I don't want to make it sound malicious.

Three people trying to get through one

spot.

Jamie got pushed to the inside and whacked

her elbow on a lamppost,

which cut her open.

It was a pretty deep cut.

But thankfully, Shanna Bunce,

who is in our chat all the time,

former games champion –

super glued her shut i'll say that how's

that at ai um so super glued her

shut got her some antibiotics um i haven't

checked with her with her today to see

how she's doing um but she made it

through the weekend finished eleventh

overall um

Probably would have been top ten.

She missed her last rep of DT,

had to redo it.

So, yeah.

Vicky says, how's Shanna doing?

Is she feeling better?

According to Shanna,

the injury she sustained is going to take

a few months of rest.

She named what it was in a medical

terminology that I do not comprehend or

probably couldn't even say correctly.

But she's still going to hang out all

weekend.

Sorry again yesterday.

So that was fun.

So master's done now teams and elite and

teens and adaptive.

So the teens and adaptive take over the

convention center where the masters were,

and now the elite start this morning at

the SAP center.

So my goal is to, well,

I'm gonna make that goal,

but I'm gonna be up there for the

opening ceremonies,

and then I'll be at the SAP center

most of the day.

So that's the plan for today.

Uh, Jenny, so sorry.

I don't have my glasses on.

I agree.

Yesterday was really fun to watch fit

people.

Good form too.

Yeah.

I will say this is the one drawback

I will say about the final event.

I am done with hang cleans being a

part of competition.

The,

the judging differences from one lane to

another.

And the lack of extension on some of

that.

I mean, I've done them.

I've done them.

And I'm probably questionable at times

when you're moving so fast with the hang

power clean.

But, man,

I saw some people never extend their knees

and just bounce in that bar as fast

as they could go.

But, yeah.

Yeah.

Jody, how's your back?

So back is better today.

I felt something pop last night and I

think it went back in to where I

want it.

Now it's just a little sore,

but I'm able to move around and full

functioning today.

So yeah, back's good.

Way better than yesterday.

So yeah.

Daniel, of course, the smartest,

most handsome man in the chat,

alive while I'm working out,

how am I supposed to function?

I don't know, Daniel,

you have to figure it out.

What else do I have?

So much fun stuff happened yesterday on

the floor

But what was really cool is Kristen Clever

showed up to support a friend,

Becca Voigt.

She was in the crowd.

Fee Sagafi was there.

Got to chat with them.

It was really,

really fun to see the people come over

and support the Masters.

I'm sure Fee was there to support the

Panchecks and Scott.

and all of that, so she was there.

Trish, morning.

I think I left my thing in your

coffee maker.

Can you check?

That's why you shouldn't rush out, Trish.

You shouldn't rush out.

Anyway.

That's what happened yesterday.

I really hate the two floors.

I'm going to say that again.

I wish there was a way to stagger

it.

I talked with Larry Young yesterday a lot.

He had a proposal that one just starts

three minutes after the other so you can

see the finishes of both.

I was like,

why don't we just stagger the heat?

So the top level,

so you don't have Carolyn Prevost,

Marissa Flowers,

Mackenzie Riley going at the same time as

Noah Olson, Travis Mayer, Scott Pancheck,

and trying to watch both floors at the

same time.

It was a virtual impossibility.

And then you have to pick one or

the other.

And it's just crazy.

Um, Tessa, I,

I really don't even know what time it

is on central time right now.

What is it?

Seven, thirty eight, thirty nine,

thirty nine, thirty.

Um, so nine fifteen is opening ceremonies.

Um,

Vicky told me this morning they're not

airing that or covering that.

Um,

so I think right after opening ceremonies,

they are moving into the elite division.

immediately following the opening

ceremonies so uh the masters coverage was

an even bigger joke than the individuals

um i didn't watch a lot of the

masters coverage but i'm going to tell you

this daniel if you're running two heats at

the same time in on opposite ends of

the floor i i don't think we are

putting

the broadcasters in the right place.

I don't know how they pull that off.

Nicole,

Flo's live stream is frustrating trying to

watch Declan,

but they are interviewing a different

athlete,

so doing waterfall for their event one.

Don't blame Flo.

Flo is not doing the broadcasting.

They're just housing the broadcast on

their channel.

From my understanding,

it is still the same old broadcast that

has always done the games.

Hamilton Roads.

Now,

my guess is their best are at the

elite individuals.

And I am betting that, well,

I watched some of that.

It was atrocious as well.

But don't blame Flo for that.

Flo is just housing it.

They should have run single heats at least

for the last event,

so every athlete gets a chance to be

spotlighted.

I know they were under time.

Especially with the Masters,

there's so many heats with so many

divisions.

It's really hard to get everything in in

the amount of time, really hard.

Have they ever scheduled like that before?

I know that Legends has been doing this

double floor thing for a while,

but I don't know what all that means.

Look who's with me.

Monster Games.

What's up, y'all?

What's going on, man?

I'm trying to get somewhere where I can

hear.

It's loud as shit now.

Give me a thumbs up when you get

there.

I'm going to mute you until you get

there.

Hamilton sent their C team that's never

seen CrossFit, apparently.

Apparently.

Maybe they're frustrated they didn't get

the full broadcast right, so they're...

Unmute Corey here.

Thanks, sir.

Yeah, this is way better.

I went outside.

So, do you have anything done today?

Yeah,

I just did the everybody hates Hefner

sandbag biker monstrosity.

Not good.

Not good.

No, the sandbags were a little floppy.

Which is not a horrible deal, but like

I normally,

I'll get my hands underneath it,

like rock to one side,

rock to the other side.

And by that time on the third one,

like my fingers kind of touch,

but when they're sloppy like that,

it's kind of,

it can be hard to get a good

hold to it before I get it up

and get it over the thing.

So like it fell out of my hand

about three, four times.

And, uh, yeah, I mean, in all honesty,

I was having problems like kind of getting

myself like, okay, let's go, you know,

getting ready or whatnot,

which is not usually the case.

I'm usually like,

Wound up like at eight o'clock before the

first one.

But I'm not.

It's not terrible.

So got that one done.

I was not looking forward to that one,

but it's over with.

I got the high jump.

No, you good.

I got the high jump and the jump

here in a little bit.

I say high jump, the vertical leap.

And the broad jump here in about an

hour or so.

I get right at eleven o'clock.

Then we'll go grab some lunch.

And then come back and do the thruster

sandbag carry one and finish off tonight

with the max bar muscle-ups in two

minutes.

So with the vertical,

did the tool low enough for you to,

like, measure on that?

Or did they have to give you a

step stool?

So from what – I'm going to find

out in a little bit.

From what Jason was saying last night at

athlete briefing,

there's a laser involved.

So I think you like you gotta jump

like it or camera.

Maybe that like videos you from standing

and then videos where your feet end up

for the for the high jump for the

vertical.

I've absolutely no idea about to go watch

somebody do it.

I just wanted to come hop in for

a minute.

How's it going over there?

Oh good, uh,

just getting ready to head over to the

SAP Center.

Caroline of course won the gold.

I'm sure you saw that.

Let's go.

No,

I went to bed fairly early last night.

I watched the I watched the last heat.

Excuse me of the the forty five forty

nine just to watch my people.

And then I had to get to sleep.

I've been up since three thirty in the

morning.

The last I saw when he had flashed

the leaderboard up because I haven't

really been on social media a whole lot

was Jamie was in like ninth or eighth

place was the last thing I saw.

and then they had to say it again

she finished eleventh let's go um and then

like i said i didn't get a chance

to see so carolyn won you did let's

go that's awesome dude yeah if you want

to see someone murder dt watch yeah dude

i was watching uh some of the older

guys age groups go because i was kind

of in and out and that looked brutal

Jeez, and that looked absolutely boo.

Carolyn was last off the Echo bike and

was in the final round of DT when

she had to go back to the second

round.

Oh, my God.

The five-minute interval with the Echo

bike kept by in was in the final

round of DT.

In the first?

In the first interval.

That's amazing.

Her deadlifts are so fast.

Yeah, well, I mean, that's what she does,

right?

Yeah.

That's awesome, dude.

Good for her, man.

Proud of her.

That's awesome.

Now I saw Grub won seven in a

row.

Yeah.

He won going away.

Rudy won.

I saw Rudy won.

Denise Moore took second.

Oh, man.

But she was up against Susan Clark,

who only competes every other year.

Yeah.

Susan Clark, perfect six under points.

No kidding.

No kidding.

I mean, maybe she's on to something.

She just come every other year and just

clean up.

Yeah, she wins every other year.

Like, she comes, wins every other year.

So she's basically splitting it with

Denise.

Well, yeah, now.

Yeah,

they have like a gentlewoman's agreement.

Who else for our chat?

Lito was top five, I think.

Lito's fit, dude.

She was right in the top five area

going into that last event.

She might have been fourth going into the

last event.

Beautiful thing.

I met Autistic Hiller.

Okay.

From the chat.

Met him last night.

Came and introduced himself.

I got a lot of this,

a couple of these before.

Corey?

Why?

Because they were surprised you weren't

black?

They were surprised I wasn't black.

That was the main thing.

Got a couple of that.

I met Jason Bourne.

Nice.

He is some version of Hispanic,

as far as I can tell,

which I was not expecting.

um kept calling me cowboy while i was

on the floor just now which was good

because i needed to laugh because i was

in i was in a lot of pain

between the bike and that uh between the

sandbag and that biker um cool ass dude

uh brian friend like i tell you brian

friend recognized me last night that was

that was a fun interaction he looked over

at me and went cory and i went

hi brian

Yes.

So I hung out with Wayne Short yesterday.

Oh, nice.

And Larry Young.

Love me some Larry Young.

I'll tell you what, Larry Young,

I always give him shit about his open

remarks.

And I gave him more shit yesterday.

Well, yeah.

He's such a good dude, man.

Like he really, really is.

There are a lot of people out here.

Fran called from behind that first workout

that we just did.

Hey, did you just do the sandbag bike?

Yeah, I got the same cough.

Yeah.

Dude, it's so crazy, man.

You got to do a buy-in of sandbag

cleans every single time and then just max

calories on the biker afterwards.

Yes, thank you.

Yeah, so I got a little fran lung.

This lady right here,

I heard her coughing.

That's why I just asked her.

I was like, you got a...

Did you feel like the sandbags were like

real floppy?

Yeah, a hundred percent.

I was having problems getting my hands

underneath it.

Yeah,

and then we got an actual sprint this

afternoon with basically sandbag fran.

So for us, it's fifteen, twelve,

nine thrusters and then a sixty foot

sandbag carry in between.

Nice.

I'm not sure if I would call it

nice, but it's a thing.

Larry Young's asking you, Corey,

does Grubb get eight?

I hope not.

And it's not that I want him to

lose.

I want somebody else to win.

I was cheering for Mike Kern,

like screaming for Mike to just beat him

and just knock it out of his hands,

man.

I'm just...

It's no denying the dude is great at

what he does, a hundred percent,

but I just want somebody to beat him.

I really, really do.

CrossFit wants to tell you quit

complaining.

Tenfold.

I'm going to try.

No promises.

No promises.

You ought to hear all the complaints over

here.

You think y'all got complaints anywhere

else.

Over here,

it's a mixture of this is really cool

and this kind of sucks.

You're never going to please.

It's the Masters community.

You're never going to please a hundred

percent of them.

No, dude.

That's all I'm hanging out with really and

truly is all the Masters.

I mean,

I got some friends of mine that are

doing team and elite and some that are

doing either RX or immediate,

intermediate and visual.

But I mean,

mostly we all kind of hang out together.

And I mean, you know, it's bitching,

bitching, bitching, bitching.

And there's some more bitching.

So I'm not going to keep you too

long because I need to get ready to

head over to opening ceremonies.

But I did want to share one piece

of intel I learned yesterday.

Okay.

And that is, you know the bike race?

Yes.

You know how they seated the athletes?

I have no idea.

It seemed weird.

They seated athletes by who had to share

a bike for heat one and heat two.

Not by position.

So if, like, hypothetically,

say hypothetically,

Tia and Laura Horvath were both in the

games and they both were the same size

needing the same bike,

they would split them up into Heat One

and Heat Two.

Because they're going to have to share

that bike.

Yep.

Now,

I saw some carnage of some bikes that

if that person was sharing with me and

then I inherited that wrecked bike,

I'd be pretty pissed.

I was talking to one of these,

I know, earlier.

We were talking about the bikes at the

semifinals that we had to ride.

He was basically standing on his the

entire time because every time he's trying

to sit on the seat,

it would go all the way down.

And I'm sure that was the same thing

because you just go and grab it.

You don't have time to adjust it before

you leave.

I don't know.

That's wild.

That's an interesting way to do that.

And by interesting, I mean terrible.

I don't like that at all.

Because now you're not actually actively

competing against people who you are

actively competing with,

if that makes sense.

You're not going against people who are

next to you on the leaderboard.

You're going against whoever at that

point.

Yep.

Larry says that's CrossFit.

This sucks.

It's awesome.

Yeah.

He's not wrong.

He's not wrong.

We could write that down.

I actually probably put that on a t-shirt.

CrossFit.

This sucks.

And it's awesome all at the same time.

Yeah.

Yeah,

Grace didn't realize they were sharing

bikes.

That's wild.

Yeah.

It was whoever needed sized the same

shared a bike between he and me, too.

And if by chance,

because of so many sizes,

you got split up into different heats

because of that.

That's not cool.

It's just not.

It's really, really not.

Jody says they couldn't get thirty bikes.

Come on.

Well, they need sixty.

And then Pat Velner needs two spares.

Poor Pat, dude.

I feel like I put the curse on

him because I was talking about it the

other day.

I was like,

whatever the odds are on him breaking a

bike, I'm going to take the over.

And he made it, what,

not even a full lap?

I don't think you put anything on Pat

Vellner.

I think that's been stuck on him for

a while.

Did his pedal fall off?

Did I see that right?

Yep, lost a pedal.

It's hard to bike with no pedal.

Or one pedal.

He probably had to share a bike with

the guy who wrecked it the heat before.

I'm just kidding.

I don't know.

I mean, what if he did?

What if somebody laid it down and got

it just loose enough?

Because I'm telling you,

I don't think he made it a full

lap.

before whatever happened to him happened

to him.

So it was clear that something was wrong

with him before his case.

I mean, he's strong.

Don't get me wrong.

What, a six-hundred-five-pound deadlift?

I don't think he's strong enough to just

snap a pedal off as soon as he

gets on the bike.

I mean, good Lord.

How cool is it, though,

he gets an event win in his final

CrossFit Games?

Good for him, dude.

Good for him.

Not mad at that dude whatsoever.

Not for that.

That's awesome.

Yeah.

Well,

I'm not going to keep everybody too long.

I've got to get over to the SAP

Center.

Since they're not broadcasting the opening

ceremonies,

the only way to see it is live.

So I'm going to get my ass over

there to get my credential finally for the

elite individuals.

Ortega just crashed his bike this morning.

I think he was having sympathy pains for

Pat.

He was just like,

it's solidarity right there.

You know what, Pat?

Crash his bike.

I'm going to go ahead and crash mine.

All right,

I got to go start getting warmed up

for this jump, Indian jump,

which ought to be real interesting after

my quads got fried on that bike ride.

So I got about an hour.

All right, brother man, enjoy yourself.

I'll be in touch.

All right, man.

Later.

Good luck.

Thank you.

All right,

Corey Leonard live from the Monster Games.

Glad he could hop on for a minute.

Yeah.

Debate on whether it's skill or not that

Pat keeps losing stuff.

Have fun.

Go live on Insta from the SAP Center,

Scott.

Yeah, that is highly illegal this year,

Jody.

Highly illegal.

Grace says she's heading over to the SAP

Center for Opening Ceremonies too.

Hopefully we see each other.

Come see me.

Come find me.

I'm pretty much letting Ishmael have the

lanyard to get into the media pits this

weekend because his pictures,

if you have not checked out his pictures

on Instagram, eCaptures,

they are phenomenal.

He did a great job the other day

out at Morgan Hill.

And hopefully we'll get some more up there

in the next little bit.

I'm placing cowshoe bets on who's holding

the flags.

That's a fun bet.

That's a fun bet.

Fraser Farms wants to know,

will you be at the suite?

Yeah.

Yeah, I hear there's an empty suite.

So I'm going to go hang out there.

Tristan,

are they literally not streaming teams?

Well, I'm not part of the broadcast team,

Tristan, so I don't know,

and I've been busy here,

but I've heard a lot of people not

happy with what has happened with the team

streaming so far.

So there.

Jodi has an in at Couchy.

Her son does the graphics.

Um, Tristan, have you tried the paywall?

Um, okay.

All right, cool.

Uh,

some teams events streamed later today.

Glad we have the most precise information

on what that means, what it is,

where it'll be.

Who knows?

They are, but as secondhand.

I did hear Vicki let me know this

morning that Coffee Pods and Wads did a

great recap of the first two events for

teams.

So if you want to check that out,

go to Coffee Pods and Wads YouTube channel

where he did some behind the scenes of

the team events.

Benita said, did the teams go yesterday?

I tried to watch including flow,

but couldn't find it.

So it was,

it was event one was going on while

Claire Bays,

Chase Ingram and Bella Martin were having

a talk show with the teams behind them.

And I think that's what they considered

their team's coverage.

And they would go occasionally over and

watch the bobsled stuff.

but it was definitely not straight

coverage of the team's division.

NAI says, anyone with Amazon Prime Video,

click live TV,

scroll to the very bottom of the guide,

click Flow Sports, you're welcome.

There you go.

NAI with all the intel on the flow

subscription.

Cool.

I do have an update from Vicky.

The, what do we have?

We have the climbing snail at twelve forty

p.m.

That's Pacific Time.

Three throw at two thirty.

Run hang squat clean to three thirty five.

Handstand sprint at five forty five.

And the hopper twenty twenty six at seven

forty p.m.

Team events.

The third event started at seven thirty

this morning about a half an hour ago.

Then we have the opening ceremony at nine

fifteen team event four at eleven a.m.

and the rowing worm at eleven fifty five

a.m.

So the teams are done shortly after noon.

And I am just half as good as

CrossFit CrossFat CrossFat.

Yeah.

Hey,

that's how we survive on this show is

all the stuff you guys give us, man.

You guys are the best.

With that,

I'm going to get ready and head on

over to the SAP Center for the opening

ceremonies.

I want to try to get Carolyn and

Jamie on tonight to just recap the Masters

from their perspective.

I'll see what we can do.

It's just tough with the time change.

We will...

We'll try to do something, though,

this weekend for sure.

With that,

I hope you guys have a great rest

of your day.

Have fun watching the games from wherever

you are.

If you are here in San Jose,

come see me.
