What is Cinema PSYOPS?

Cinema PSYOPS is a weekly film review podcast where we experiment on an impressionable mind to find out why physical wounds heal, but Cinematic ones don't.

[Music]

Cort Psyops: Five hundred fiftieth episode of Cinema Psyops.

Cort Psyops: I'm your host, Cort, the guy that got coerced into doing yet another commentary as a Halloween special by our main guy in charge. But picking the movies that we decided to cover for this week and next week's Halloween specials is mine.

Cort Psyops: is my co-host Matt. I did this to us.

Matt: I did it.

Cort Psyops: Well, your logic was sound, but we need to actually discuss what we're gonna be doing is this week we're doing, as everyone who can see the title of the episode, we're doing a commentary on Hellraiser.

Cort Psyops: And then we're gonna do a commentary on Hellraiser two.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: It initially planned to do more than that.

Cort Psyops: But Matt lost his voice. That screwed up our recording schedule. So we're now just gonna do Hellraiser one and two. And then maybe next year we'll do three and four. But I think we're gonna stop maybe five at the max if we ever do more. And that's why we will never do a full franchise fest, and that's why

Cort Psyops: Mm-hmm.

Matt: Yeah, sorry, even the uh irresistible force that is my voice uh has its limits.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, so many cigars, so much beer, so much shouting at your freaking sports ball teams winning and or losing over major major events. You're bound to lose your voice, man. So

[Silence]

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: I wanted to mention I was uh editing a lot of the episodes. We record a bunch of stuff in advance and then I edit them and release them at my leisure whenever I can. Just because that's the the new route that we're taking. And I wanted to mention that you and I got into an argument during

Cort Psyops: I think it was Thunder Run about whether or not the guy was like a special forces or special ops training besides just being a truck driver.

Matt: Uh during

Cort Psyops: During that argument, you get the most Wisconsinite Stank on your voice.

Cort Psyops: Like like you drop all pretense and go like full on native Wisconsinite on me with that.

Cort Psyops: Like when when you were doing your guy voice, like your Wisconsinite guy

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: That worked for the

Cort Psyops: The yeah, yeah. That guy, like you slipped into that hardcore and I was just giggling like a fucking schoolgirl editing that argument. I

Matt: I just wanted to tell you that.

Matt: I can't.

Matt: That does happen.

Cort Psyops: I know. I'm actually expecting some shit in Hellraiser to actually make you like go full Wisconsinite mode because you're just oh god jeez. Oh.

Matt: Oh, geez.

Matt: Oh gee oh no, oh man, that looks like it's gonna sting for that poor guy.

Cort Psyops: Gonna need some curds and gravy to get over that.

Matt: Oh yeah, you can give m someone get that guy a beer. He he needs something to get out of that.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: not a pleasurable experience for you to watch. So this is a weird one for you to choose, but I mean it makes sense for Halloween because I this is the most fucked up twisted series that uh I can think of, man.

Matt: Yeah, they uh they have wondrous

Cort Psyops: Yeah, and in this commentary we also have some wondrous sights to show everyone. So why don't we go ahead and get started with it? What do you say?

Matt: I it sounds good to me.

Cort Psyops: All right. So I'm doing something a little bit different. I'm actually sharing a screen that I'm viewing this on and we already tested it in advance before we started recording, so it'll work with Matt. But for those of you that are listening to the audio only version and choose to sync this up.

Cort Psyops: We are using the Scarlet Box Blu-ray version of Hellraiser.

Cort Psyops: That is from Arrow Video, and I know that's a bit of a cheat, because that's like a British only Blu-ray.

Cort Psyops: But it's also the most complete and original version of the film. It doesn't have the overdubbed voices as far as I remember. So that's why I trust it. Uh that might make this a little weird and different for you, Matt, because you're probably used to the American version where they dubbed some of the English actors again.

Matt: Oh okay.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. So this is gonna be

Matt: Well then I'm interested. Let's see what it let's see what it does to me here.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, it's it'll be just a little bit different, but I you probably won't even notice and I think the audience is gonna think I'm fucking lying. So there we go.

Matt: Yeah, they're they probably already think you're crazy. Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, but the total runtime is 133.21 for this version. So if you can sync it up with that length with whatever copy you guys are going to be using out there.

Cort Psyops: Awesome. And those of you that are Legion on Patreon uh Subscribers will not need to worry, the video version will be supplied to you.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Ha ha.

Cort Psyops: All right. So here we go with that one hour, 33 minute, 21 second version of the first Hellraiser.

Cort Psyops: One. Click.

Cort Psyops: Of course we're starting on the black screen as we always do. Yeah.

Matt: Yeah, always.

Cort Psyops: And Matt should now be seeing the logo getting started.

Matt: I I do. I see such logos.

Matt: That's uh fifty percent of the budget went into that logo. I'm gonna let you know that right now.

Cort Psyops: Uh with New World Pictures you're probably not wrong.

Matt: And then the other like forty five percent went into just blood.

Cort Psyops: This one's not as bloody as you would think it is though.

Matt: No it's not.

Matt: like super well like it's almost like they buy into themselves being super gory later.

Cort Psyops: Well it's kind of what

Matt: Or implied horrifics here.

Cort Psyops: Im implied's a good word for it. It's very similar to what they did with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Tobey Hooper kept going to the ratings board and asking them how to get a G rating.

Cort Psyops: for Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which he knew was never gonna happen. Yeah. So that he knew that If he kept toning it down, he would then get an axe.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Or he wouldn't get an X, he would get an R. is basically what he was shooting for because he was striving for a G that he knew he was never gonna get.

Matt: True. It's a solid work by Mr. Keane in this movie.

Cort Psyops: Oh absolutely.

Cort Psyops: The as far as practical effects go, particularly for the era, this is some of the best.

Cort Psyops: So the score is really, really bombastic and blaring. So I'm just gonna turn this back to there. Speaking of that bombastic score, Christopher Young does an amazing job for the music in this. It feels so epic, otherworldly, and ethereal, and at the same time.

Cort Psyops: Same time, so foreboding.

Cort Psyops: And dangerous. It's it's just so well done.

Cort Psyops: I love the score too.

Cort Psyops: And not just because the Yeah, yeah, and it's not just because the wife and I used to throw down to the score for uh Hellraiser two either.

Cort Psyops: It's not just that. Really?

Matt: No use like exploring the jungle. I'll never know what I find next, so quite frankly, I'm scared.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, to quote silent Bob, bitch what you don't know about me, I could just about squeeze into the Grand Canyon.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: And you've known me for decades. That's what's really funny about that.

Cort Psyops: God this transfer looks gorgeous. Even the all the fucking filth under those fingernails, right?

Matt: Yeah, look at that man, those nails

[Silence]

Matt: Bye, man.

Matt: Needs a p uh uh uh manicure.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, definitely needs a manicure.

Matt: Probably needs a manny penny.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Are you familiar with Where

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: The original story that made this Hellraiser film came from are you aware of the original novella, The Hellbound Heart?

Cort Psyops: Okay.

Cort Psyops: Are you aware of the tattoo I have on my left elbow of the guy sitting cross legged uh with the that turns upside down and it turns into a face? Do you y you know what I'm talking about?

Matt: Unfortunately, yes, that I am.

Cort Psyops: That's the cover of the novella Hellbound Heart.

Cort Psyops: Which is why I have that as a tattoo.

Cort Psyops: The novella Hellbound Heart is basically the s The the gist of Hellraiser one is In that novella.

Cort Psyops: There's so much is there.

Cort Psyops: The things that are very different is how the centibytes are presented.

Cort Psyops: and what they are in the novella.

Cort Psyops: is very different than what they look like.

Cort Psyops: in the Hellraiser series.

Cort Psyops: And I think they had a real difficulty being able to sort of like take these very nebulous, like flesh globulal weird things that were described in the novella.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. What centibytes are known as Uh now?

Cort Psyops: I always thought that looked like a couch that just got some some fish hooks put in it. But no, it's liquid latex probably painted out flesh color. Yeah.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Housekeeping is not Frank's.

Matt: Everybody do this shit shirtless, by the way.

Cort Psyops: I mean Sensation.

Matt: I am

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Is that an opium pipe? I didn't understand.

Matt: I yeah, I don't know man. That uh that's just a cockroach crawling all over uh uh a statue of people fucking.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, the statue of people fucking. I was wondering if it's like an opium pipe'cause

Matt: Yeah, I pr maybe.

Cort Psyops: I've seen various weird intricate carved. The this is gorgeous. I mean it's hideous, but it's so gorgeously set.

Matt: Oh yeah, well I mean

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: How many Halloween now you know, because we are in the Halloween season, how many Halloween decorations have been like Yeah, this movie inspired.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: I redecorated my room after watching Hellraiser three at like thirteen.

Cort Psyops: To have chains and ripped pieces of cloth hanging all over the place.

Matt: Yeah, c caves were definitely the big

Matt: The big

Matt: thing that came out through all this.

Cort Psyops: Well, I'm sure there's a lot of people that developed a whole like serious sadomasochistic twinge realizing some things about themselves from this. But anyway, The look and designs of the centibytes, the closest one is chatterbox to what they look like.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Oh okay.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: And I love how this is the opening of the film. Th I think it was Pete Atkins who is a friend of Clive Barker actually said, Jesus Christ, is this all gonna be this intense? What the hell were they thinking?

Matt: Clive Barker. I don't know. Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Yeah. I mean like we're not even six minutes into this. No, that's

Matt: No, and I'm actually pieces of faces. Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, yeah. Somebody's rearranging a face just so we Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, just there.

Cort Psyops: Just so we know.

Cort Psyops: This is the easiest way for us to do a commentary, my friend.

Matt: Because

Matt: Yeah, and those are some little sperms that are that that were uh ghost sperms.

Matt: Sperms.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, I'm not a fan of the animated over top of the film cell look of what they have in this film.

Matt: That looks really bad.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, it's very dated, but I try to ignore it and pretend like it's not a problem.

Cort Psyops: I do however love the construction of this house and the design work, like even the stained glass windows in between the doors.

Cort Psyops: Just absolutely gorgeous.

Matt: Oh well

Matt: Oh well I mean In a sense.

Matt: Really if if just a super animation thing.

Matt: thing that we don't like is your biggest problem in a movie, you're watching a pretty good movie.

Matt: Movie.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Well I have one other thing that I dislike, um but It's Kind of also cool enough in an eighties way that it's null and void.

Cort Psyops: When we get there, we'll get there.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: I can confirm.

Matt: Garrett from T S nine.

Cort Psyops: I can confirm in the eighties.

Cort Psyops: Pretty much every woman had this haircut'cause my mom and my aunts all had it.

Matt: Yeah, oh my yeah, I mean that was just a standard haircut.

Matt: Haircut.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. This like sort of like overdone.

Matt: What is it? Eight, eighty nine?

Cort Psyops: Uh it might be earlier than that. I think it's eighty six.

Matt: I don't remember.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, I should probably look that up.

Matt: Let's see here. I'll look it up.

Matt: I also have the power of the internet.

Cort Psyops: In the palm of your hand.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Right. I mean I'm I'm sitting also on a laptop.

Matt: The kids found it till the eighty seven.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, nineteen eighty seven.

Matt: Yeah. I've never known him to kick cash out of bed and besides Probably behind bars someplace.

Cort Psyops: What's really crazy about this?

Cort Psyops: Andrew Robinson, the guy who's playing like Innocent sweet Larry.

Cort Psyops: Was the fucking like zodiac amalgamation character?

Cort Psyops: In dirty Harry. He just got off like he's like the Scorpio terrorist or whatever they called him. Like this same actor just previously played a character who hijacked a school bus full of kids and tried to kill them.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, now he's now he's playing this guy so much against.

Matt: The dad, you know The good guy.

Matt: Can yeah, yeah.

Matt: He's a great actor though.

Cort Psyops: Oh yeah, he's terrific. I mean he's kind of the anchor of this film until Christie shows up.

Cort Psyops: And then they switched the anch the anchor from him to Kirsty.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. You know, Kirsty's his daughter and is concerned about him.

Cort Psyops: In in the novella, Kirsty is a coworker.

Cort Psyops: Who kind of has a crush on

Cort Psyops: Uh the Larry sort of character. Yeah.

Cort Psyops: And uh the way that she's described is As though uh If you are into a little bit more full figured of a woman.

Cort Psyops: You would really, really dig her.

Cort Psyops: But that causes a problem for confidence for her in the age.

Matt: in the 80s.

Cort Psyops: When the novel novella was existing.

Matt: Uh

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: Was a big thing back then.

Cort Psyops: Uh well it

Matt: Probably a big thing now too, but it was a big thing then too.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, everybody's numbing themselves in any way, shape, or form that they can, he says while he reaches for a vape.

Matt: Maybe.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: And as I talked, uh probably with alcohol still all the way in my system.

Cort Psyops: Oh, and I'm heavily caffeinated from an espresso I made this morning too,'cause caffeine is a mood alterant and I wanna feel better about myself.

Matt: I didn't have to go to the gas station.

Matt: The wife ran out and got me a

Matt: I mean there's stuff in the kitchen you

Matt: Come on, leave.

Matt: So obviously, getaway.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Oh, that was nice.

Matt: And so I got a giant die coke and I'm just like, Yes, sir.

Cort Psyops: I can't remember where I saw it, but uh as far as breaking up hangovers, there's something in Sprite zero specifically, one of the chemicals that helps With like clearing the fog and making you feel a little bit better and processing that stuff.

Matt: I don't

Matt: really get hung over. I just overslept today and I like an idiot set my alarm instead of like nine in the morning, nine PM so

Matt: Don't set your alarm when you're hammered either people. That's never gonna go well for you.

Matt: Wait, I thought you'd stay with us for a while.

Cort Psyops: So I saw it.

Cort Psyops: Actually I I think it would be a good idea for us to start talking about the order in which we saw the Hellraiser films first and which is a little bit of a

Matt: Which

Cort Psyops: which Hellraiser film was our first and when? So

Matt: Okay.

Cort Psyops: I saw one

Cort Psyops: after I saw three. Three is the very first one that I saw.

Cort Psyops: And the reason that I saw Hellraiser three Hell on Earth first Is it was Fuzzy Porn released on Cinemax one night late at night and it just so happened to be when I was recording the Fuzzy Max

Cort Psyops: Overnight to be able to watch in the morning, I caught Hellraiser three as one of them and it fucking changed my life. It turned me into

Cort Psyops: Just I told you, I went and I like as soon as I finished watching it, I decorated my room in like one night where my parents woke up in the morning and they were literally like, Holy shit, this kid needs therapy.

Matt: Right.

Cort Psyops: Like they were like, What the fuck happened overnight? You know what I mean?

Cort Psyops: 'Cause I just started and I just kept adding all of these like shredded cloth and and hanging chains and stuff from my room.

Cort Psyops: It got like it got it got to the point where I had to like have a small section that was cleared out that my parents could stand there to talk to me in.

Cort Psyops: But they wouldn't dare to walk any further. Like it's that dangerous.

Matt: Sounds like my kid's room.

Matt: Yeah. Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, probably.

Matt: No, Hellraiser Three is my first as well.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Uh so I was about twelve or thirteen. So it was definitely after the worst weekend of my life.

Cort Psyops: But Before Uh really kind of

Cort Psyops: coming into my own as a teenager and realizing my own sexuality. So Hellraiser three still warped me.

Cort Psyops: In a sort of one.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: I think I was uh Fourteen, fifteen.

Matt: Okay. It was on uh HBO or something like that.

Cort Psyops: It was Cinemax. You probably you probably caught it on a preview of Cinemax. Probably.

Matt: Probably

Matt: When I was recording it.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. We had HBO at the time, that's why I know it wasn't on HBO.

Matt: Oh, okay, I gotcha.

Cort Psyops: In that era for Hellraiser three.

Matt: Yeah, I know it was on some cable thing we had.

Cort Psyops: Well immediately after watching Hellraiser three in that way and getting really, really into it.

Cort Psyops: I basically rode my bike forever.

Cort Psyops: like ages, like an hour both ways to rent it at my favorite video store.

Matt: As a kid,

Matt: You went uphill.

Matt: Both ways.

Matt: No.

Cort Psyops: Naked through the snow, yeah.

Matt: With a bike.

Cort Psyops: With a bike with a rusty change.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, and so I watched Hellraiser one, two, and three again, like I rented them.

Cort Psyops: All and then rented to own them because I figured out how to do that as a kid with VHS. It wasn't hard.

Matt: And

Cort Psyops: And uh basically became super obsessed and from I don't know, that day forward of renting all three of them to own uh by duping the VHSs I've had a lifelong obsession with uh Ashley Lawrence here.

Matt: Oh, yeah, yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: She was easy to have uh

Matt: A uh thing four. That uh that's for sure.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, especially with the glorious eighties poofy hair.

Cort Psyops: That she has going on in this movie.

Matt: Of course.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Also developed a lifelong obsession with Doug Bradley's acting.

Cort Psyops: Uh as well. We'll talk about that whenever he shows up.

Cort Psyops: But yeah. This house is gorgeous. It would so be worth renovating and fixing up to

Matt: Oh yeah, no over there.

Cort Psyops: The it's just uh The walk up, the garden?

Cort Psyops: that is on either side of it with the hedges and everything, just absolutely gorgeous.

Cort Psyops: I think the guy to the left may be uh a friend of the Clive Barker Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Ended up putting on a lot of Clive's plays and things like that.

Cort Psyops: He shows up in a few of these Clive Barker films. I've seen him before.

Cort Psyops: And I I kind of vaguely remember him from some of the Clyde Barker Based uh stories that I've watched.

Matt: God damn.

Matt: This was not shot in America, was it?

Cort Psyops: No, no, absolutely not.

Matt: Appliances, everything screams not of America. Right.

Cort Psyops: Right. The idea is they move over there because Julia is from there, and apparently this is his family home, so I guess he

Matt: I guess he is.

Matt: Well, yeah, definitely.

Matt: 'Cause his brother was living there. Right.

Matt: Th isn't his wife in love with his brother?

Cort Psyops: Yes.

Matt: And the brother's the one who had the cube.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, let's talk about the love. It's not really love. It's more like He's the only one that could ever make her come.

Cort Psyops: Is basically what happens.

Matt: Oh oh okay. Well there's that too. Uh

Matt: Uh

Matt: That happened.

Matt: And uh everyone has feelings about that. Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, I don't think that Julia necessarily loves Frank. I think it's just that he's quite literally the only one that's ever been able to make her come.

Matt: Nice for him. That's nice for him.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, which is which is horrible for her'cause he immediately is then like, Yeah, I'm bored with you already.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: And also then he is immediately uh torted to several pieces.

Matt: So that's also unfortunate.

Cort Psyops: Well, that's kind of his own doing'cause he's all obsessed with sensation.

Matt: Yeah, but fortunate for her, but you know, yeah, he's an idiot, so But if you like, hey Matt, if you play with this cube, uh you could uh just, you know, die.

Matt: I'd be like, nah bro, I'm alright. Uh

Cort Psyops: Or not.

Cort Psyops: The novella actually has a lot more of an expanded universe of what

Cort Psyops: the what they do to you and it's experience to the extreme. You start with like the most vivid and insane hallucinations and sensations

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Like just physical tingling and intensity and um mo emotional mood swings and stuff.

Cort Psyops: And then you wake up from that dreaming.

Cort Psyops: And then uh in the book Frank wakens up to one of the female centibites naked on like a pile of like severed heads with It's crotch facing out to him.

Cort Psyops: And it says something about you've you've awoken from the dream, good, now we can begin or something like that. And then we're left off to wonder what happens from there. But we also know that Frank does in fact get torn apart.

Cort Psyops: uh by the end of it because they do say that they'll rip his soul apart in the fella in a sort of way too.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: So

Cort Psyops: What the Centibytes have to offer is experience and sensation, but not in the way that people normally think. That when they when they're

Matt: Yeah you you want

Cort Psyops: Right. Like the most intense sensation is pain. So therefore they're going to give you the most intense sensation, which is pain.

Cort Psyops: And they're gonna work their way up to it because that's just how it goes.

Cort Psyops: And that transfers a little bit into the movies, but It does kind of get a little bit muddled where, like you said, you you assume that Julia is in love.

Cort Psyops: With Frank and just so happened to settle with Larry.

Cort Psyops: But it's it's not the case. It's that She's never felt so alive as she has.

Cort Psyops: With Frank.

Cort Psyops: Sexually speaking.

Cort Psyops: And it's literally it's quite literally because no one else can make her come like Frank has.

Cort Psyops: Apparently.

Matt: Like I mean that's just some hardcore stuff, man.

Matt: Right.

Cort Psyops: Right.

Cort Psyops: But they do portray it. You're not wrong. It's portrayed as if it's a love sort of thing. But if you actually watch what's happening between them and the exchanges.

Cort Psyops: There's no love there. Look at her. She's not fondly remembering love. No

Matt: No, she's just

Cort Psyops: Desiring. Yeah, she's desiring to come as hard as she did with Frank. Pure and simple.

Matt: There is lust in her eyes. She's a Jezebel!

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Ya no, ya no.

Cort Psyops: I don't know.

Cort Psyops: She does murder a man with a hammer just to be able to get that sensation back again. So you're not wrong, she has a bit of a jazz bell.

Matt: Yeah, alright. See, I knew I was right.

Cort Psyops: But I mean that's what Cumming Hard will do to you. It'll it'll turn you into a slave to Cumming Hard.

Matt: اشتركوا في القناة Listen, man.

Matt: You know, no hate on that. I you know

[Silence]

Matt: Sometimes you सट्टेफ्याद्याद्याद्याद्याद्याद्याद्याद्या

[Music]

Cort Psyops: It's only when you're coming hard is doing

Matt: Doing

Cort Psyops: Serious emotional or physical damage that someone does not

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: Yeah, that's that's bad.

Cort Psyops: Let's just drive the irony home of the no love by having him.

Matt: No her owners.

Cort Psyops: On her wedding dress, yeah.

Matt: Yeah. Yeah.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Absolute worst.

Matt: That's something.

Matt: That's something alright.

Cort Psyops: That's a choice.

Matt: Take the way permit.

Cort Psyops: I don't think I need to point out the symbolism that's happening here with the nail.

Cort Psyops: Uh coming towards the hand.

Matt: Oh yeah.

Cort Psyops: And Jul Oh boob, thank you movie.

Matt: Whoa.

Matt: Whoa, yeah.

Cort Psyops: And Julia finally remembering the only time she's ever come hard.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Very red dragon esque tattoo on uh Frank's back there.

Cort Psyops: But the juxtaposition and the way that they're editing it back and forth, and this is a first-time filmmaker.

Matt: Like,

Matt: Yeah. I know.

Matt: I didn't know this is Clive Barker's first.

Cort Psyops: First. Yeah, he directed this. This is a first time direction for him, and it's such an incredible film. It's really well done.

Cort Psyops: And of course the coming gushing blood with the hand opening up.

Cort Psyops: So the question is, is it her desire for Frank that brings him back, or is it the blood sacrifice that accidentally happens in the room, or is it the combination that makes that work?

Matt: Maybe it's all of the above, yeah. Listen, whenever I do a test, I always like whatever there's an answer, all of the above, that's what I usually take. So it's usually the right.

Matt: Like ninety nine percent of the time, but they give you the option, all of the above.

Matt: That's uh

Matt: That that's the answer you want. They're trying to help you out.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Usually, yes, unless there's also a selection for none of the above, then they're just fucking with you.

Matt: Oh yeah, yeah. If there's an all or none then yeah, they're then whoever made that test is a monster dick.

Cort Psyops: If there's an all, a none, and then some.

Matt: Just take it easy. Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Then they're definitely fucking with you.

Matt: with you.

Matt: 야, 야, 야, 야.

[Silence]

Matt: With all that red paint.

Cort Psyops: It's reverse photography. No, that's the Kensington Gore blood. Oh.

Matt: Oh, okay.

Cort Psyops: It's not necessarily paint, but uh it's In the era of This overly red British blood.

Cort Psyops: That was known as the Kensington Gore. It's slightly modified, but it's not necessarily as bad as like the dirty hairy where it looks like the temper paint.

Cort Psyops: Or like a tomato soup with a little red food colouring in it.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: yeah right yeah

Cort Psyops: Hãy subscribe cho kênh La La School Để không bỏ lỡ những video hấp dẫn The main problem is people using stage blood uh for film.

Cort Psyops: It doesn't translate.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Right. I'm not gonna go through that again with everyone. We've already discussed that when we covered um

Cort Psyops: F uh blood feast? Because Horship.

Matt: Oh, yeah, yeah.

Cort Psyops: Lewis is the first person to formulate blood to look good on film.

Cort Psyops: Not just for stage.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Which is what made his blood look so real.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, and that looked a vi a little bit like a Kensington gore. They might have been using not necessarily a wax, but like a more viscous Fake blood.

Cort Psyops: Do the reverse photography there where They pump it up through the floor and then make it come out in reverse.

Matt: Oh, okay.

Matt: That's nice.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Yeah, there's a lot of different little gimmicks that they're using with these false floors.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Cute little bats.

Matt: Uh what the hell was that?

Cort Psyops: Yeah. See now this is some bubbling the bubbling up and everything, but a lot of the creature A lot of the creature forming is a wax creature.

Cort Psyops: That's slowly been melted down with huge heat lamps on it, like all of this.

Matt: I gotcha.

Cort Psyops: And then they move it a little bit or they pose it and this is that's the wax creature being melted down and then filmed in reverse.

Matt: Ευχαριστώ.

Matt: All right.

Cort Psyops: That's how they got this effect of it for me.

Matt: Why am I covered with the goo? Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. And then here is the wax creature and it's slowly like Would fall.

Cort Psyops: As it was melting.

Matt: and things like that.

Cort Psyops: and things like that or they would be posing it and doing stop motion animation while it melted to get that and this is reverse photography for melting again.

Cort Psyops: All those various layers and I guess Bob Keane and his crew, like here you'll see some some things being pulled.

Cort Psyops: back in like veins forming in.

Cort Psyops: So they would have various wires and pieces of rope and things.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: If I recall right, this is Frank, right? Coming back to

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: What a book. Skin to life.

Cort Psyops: Right. And so they would pull out those wires and that's how you would start to see the veins start to form in.

Cort Psyops: And this is the armature melting again.

Cort Psyops: Now the fingers f coming out I think is uh just like a rod puppet style.

Cort Psyops: But then when they're fully formed and then they start Like this stuff is melting again.

Cort Psyops: in reverse, but it's so well executed and gruesome and absolutely horrific. And

Matt: And

Cort Psyops: Yeah. This puppet stop motion is just incredible.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: What's doctors?

Cort Psyops: So intense. But having me describe all of those effects to you, I'm sure lessons.

Cort Psyops: The hit on you a little bit. You are not wrong to think that.

Matt: What's funny is poor Larry's the kinda guy everyone likes except for his wife.

Matt: Bill, I should look you know all-

Cort Psyops: Yes, we get it, Matt. You identify with Larry.

Matt: How dare you? How dare you? My wife loves me.

Matt: I'm a doctor.

Matt: Kinda.

Matt: Anyway, I

Matt: She brought me food. What? I mean that's

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Yeah, your wife absolutely loves you.

Cort Psyops: Anybody who loves you compared to how Julia feels about Larry.

Matt: I'm not going to stop.

Matt: Oh my god, dude, listen.

Matt: May a love like that never find me. Holy shit.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: Believes in love.

Matt: I'm with you on that too.

Cort Psyops: I also don't Uh, think that um the feelings that she has for Frank Would necessarily be the sort of thing that you would want either.

Matt: No, no, she just

Matt: But he he's just a dick with a dude attached. That's all that is.

Matt: Something. Shut up.

Cort Psyops: He was just the person who did the job right once.

Matt: Or yeah, he's just a dick with a dude attached.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Ciao !

Matt: Well, I guess you're gonna talk now. And like it's almost like uh the reverse Sovietism where dudes just like uh, you know

Matt: Uh, if he was just l uh you know, just interested in a woman's body and not, you know, who she is. That's that's what this is.

Matt: Mm.

Cort Psyops: Okay.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Well I just say people are people are bad people out here, you know.

Matt: This is not a movie about good people.

Matt: Only when I drink.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, Kirsty's kind of the closest one to a good person and

Matt: Well Larry.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Yeah.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, Lar the Americans. There's no good British people.

Matt: Yeah, all the British people are really bad in this.

Matt: Let's go.

Matt: Let's go over to Britain.

Matt: And we'll uh get some stuff done.

Matt: But uh we're gonna make all the Britain people the bad people.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, I think the American voiced actors are there for an easier time.

Cort Psyops: Uh to release it in America just to have people that you

Matt: Oh, yeah.

Cort Psyops: anchor two. That's why the two main Leads more or less.

Cort Psyops: Are uh Americans.

Cort Psyops: With that particular action.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: So true story.

Cort Psyops: This actress Claire Higgins.

Cort Psyops: Could not Any food?

Cort Psyops: On the days she was filming with any version of Frank Sans any skin.

Matt: So Oh, yeah.

Matt: I don't blame her.

Matt: She

Matt: That's how good the fucking- FX was

Cort Psyops: She would get sick.

Matt: Don't look at me

[Silence]

Matt: Oh

Matt: I said.

Matt: Don't look.

Matt: Help me!

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: Tell me who you are.

[Music]

Matt: Frank.

[Music]

Cort Psyops: The wife just woke up.

Matt: No.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, she overdid it last night too.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Talking about movies with uh you know, a lot of quote unquote Sensation and experience and all of that and overindulgence.

Matt: Ha ha ha.

Matt: I don't know about overindulgence. Never done it. Never I'm not into it.

[Silence]

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: So the internet says that the running time of this movie is an hour and thirty four minutes.

Cort Psyops: So I I'm not sure which version

Matt: Yeah we got

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Uh oh. She's hammered.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Oh for sure.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: That's the kind of like walk off a roof hammered that you wanna be careful to follow someone around with what they're doing.

Matt: Wait!

Matt: That's uh That's like uh oh, she fell in the pool and she didn't get out, look.

Cort Psyops: That's the Matthew Perry heading to the hot tub look.

Matt: Oh god.

Matt: Oh come on!

[Silence]

Matt: We're fucked up.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, well.

Matt: Well, yeah.

Cort Psyops: Is that is it too it's too soon, is what you're telling me.

[Silence]

Matt: You have to Ha ha ha.

Cort Psyops: I totally intended to try and give a factual commentary and uh Serious discussion of Hellraiser?

Cort Psyops: But then I realised this is cinema psyops and that's not gonna happen.

Matt: happen. Yeah, no, we what are you crazy?

Matt: I mean we've done some serious stuff. You've you've really like pulled the veil back on some of the FX and stuff, so and and some of the actors.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, this is more drama stuff than I'm not really Able to process.

Matt: I know, all right. This is about human emotion and you know, we're We're not into it.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, that's not my my

Matt: Might

Cort Psyops: Jive and also Cl Claire Higgins' eighties style is really distracting me.

Matt: Yeah, I'm like, I'm in it.

Matt: Yeah, there you go, yeah.

Matt: They learn all that.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, and then trains show up for our friends on the spectrum.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Like myself and Matt.

Cort Psyops: I'm always amazed at trains and I love watching them.

Matt: Субтитры сделал DimaTorzok Yeah.

Cort Psyops: All right, that is not Clive Barker in makeup and that is not Alan Moore like some people think. That was a different that's a different actor that is playing

Cort Psyops: This uh unhoused gentleman. Is that the most PC term?

Matt: For someone that has no

Cort Psyops: No that's okay.

Matt: That's the most PC term.

Matt: you'll ever get for any group of people is unhoused.

Cort Psyops: Unhoused. Unhoused. Okay. I'm trying.

Cort Psyops: Uh'cause I I'm not sure.

Matt: You're very woke. Don't worry about it. You're you're good. You're good. You're very woke.

Cort Psyops: I'm not trying to be performatively woke. I literally need to try and show people respect as best I can. Like that's

Matt: That's it. Unhoused. It's not homeless anymore. It's unhoused.

Cort Psyops: I mean it does mean.

Matt: It does mean the same thing.

Cort Psyops: I I don't know, I guess it's the intent behind it.

Matt: Maybe it's'cause it's been used for so long as a Is a bad thing.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: That's it.

Matt: Th you know, it's like let's just figure out a new term, you know, it's the same Same.

Matt: means the same thing, but it's just a different term for it, I guess. There you go.

Cort Psyops: Right. And with any word it's your intent behind it, but there are some words that the intent is clear because they were derogatory in nature.

Cort Psyops: And I I don't believe that

Cort Psyops: The term homeless was meant to be derogatory in nature. It just became one that people would use as derogatory.

Matt: Well, they're fucking again.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: Well yeah, I I just mean they're fucking though on movie again.

Cort Psyops: Well, that's the...

Cort Psyops: He s he said you'll do anything to have me again and she says anything, so

[Music]

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

[Music]

Matt: Mean, do you want'em now though? Look at that.

Cort Psyops: I don't know, some people really like that heroine chic look in the nineties though.

Matt: You're not wrong, dude.

Matt: But still.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Oh yeah.

Matt: Yeah, but I mean it's overdoing it.

Cort Psyops: This is where heroin leads you, is what Frank currently looks like now.

Matt: Yeah, and it's it's bad.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, slimy and rotting away in a diaper. That's where heroin's gonna eventually lead you.

Cort Psyops: Alright, so this is a super dangerous shot because this is actual feathers from feather pillows floating around blowing in the wind.

Matt: Amen.

Cort Psyops: Which can go into your lungs and can damage you.

Cort Psyops: Everyone else on this set had a mask on to protect them.

Cort Psyops: While poor Ashley Lawrence had to walk up and be covered in feathers.

Cort Psyops: For the shot.

Matt: Meme.

Cort Psyops: But it Created a glorious shot.

Matt: Yeah. Well listen, you you have to get into the you know, the the work, you know, you gotta do the work.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: And the makeup person who did her dream makeup here did an incredible job too. It's very kind of like ethereal and otherworldly. Mm-hmm.

Cort Psyops: And of course the sheet soaking itself. And just throw in throw in the sound of a baby crying at any point in time to make people feel horrible and uncomfortable.

Cort Psyops: Max Payne did that to a wonderful effect in the first Max Payne video.

Matt: Paint video game.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: Everyone having a bad dream in here.

Cort Psyops: Nice of that guy to sleep on the floor after they did that.

Cort Psyops: I'm pretty sure they did it. Why else would he be there unless he was just getting her home safe, quote unquote?

Matt: Maybe.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Ladies and gentlemen.

Cort Psyops: Either way, him sleeping on the floor makes him a gentleman for whatever reason'cause

Matt: Yeah, whatever reason, man.

Matt: Yeah clearly.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, clearly he volunteered to stay to make sure she was okay.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Cảm ơn các bạn đã theo dõi và hẹn gặp lại.

Matt: It's nice of him. He's a good person.

Matt: is going to die.

Cort Psyops: As long as I didn't do anything untoward while she was passed out. But the fact that he's sleeping on the floor makes me think that he didn't.

Matt: Yeah, but he looked naked.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, but...

Cort Psyops: Maybe she wanted him to do something.

Cort Psyops: With consent, it's fine.

[Silence]

Matt: Yeah I'm fine. Jesus kid. I was trying to sleep though.

Cort Psyops: The lighting in that shot where Frank was sort of like crouched down right before the phone call was really well done. The silhouette of the body and the outline.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Man, I just got sucked into watching the movie again.

Matt: I know, me too.

Cort Psyops: That's the that's the problem with a good film.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: They try to do commentary. It's like you really are just kinda like ah This is too good.

Cort Psyops: So I guess to do these versions of the emaciated and reforming Flesh Frank skeletal bits.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. They chose someone who was extremely gaunt and thin.

Cort Psyops: And then would build up appliances.

Cort Psyops: on top of them.

Cort Psyops: And then when they would get to a version that was more fleshed out.

Cort Psyops: quote unquote.

Cort Psyops: Then they would move up to someone that was

Cort Psyops: A little bit bigger, right? Once he got fleshed out, until they get to the actual actor and then they put him in more of a flesh suit.

Cort Psyops: That's kinda believable that like all he needs left now is skin.

Cort Psyops: Yeah yeah. They they work their way up to it.

Matt: Whenever I see people smoking at bars, I'm always like, What in the hell?

Cort Psyops: There was a comedian right as uh smoking van started happening in bars, there was like an Irish comedian that had a really funny routine.

Cort Psyops: About how uh uh he can't have his pint Out on the street while he's smoking outside of the bar.

Cort Psyops: And then he can't have his cigarette while he's drinking his pint inside of the bar.

Cort Psyops: And each time he's looking at his pint through the window and or looking out the window with his pint.

Cort Psyops: And wondering why he can't just have a cigarette with his pint.

Cort Psyops: It's just back and forth. And like he just talks about it and like how frustrating it is.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. And this is right before they started creating the patio areas where you can have that. Yeah.

Matt: Yeah, Bear Gardens.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Yeah.

Matt: اشتركوا في القناة

Matt: Yeah, it it was a rough life for cigarette smokers for a while there.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, you couldn't murder other people with second hand smoke.

Matt: Right. And it's like that what's that isn't that my right?

Cort Psyops: W yeah, to the slight the slight inconvenience for you to not be able to murder people with second hand smoke.

Matt: Yeah, I thought this was America. I'm sorry.

Matt: I'm sorry.

Matt: Yes.

Cort Psyops: Let freedom reign. The right to murder your fellow Americans is the most American right there is.

Matt: Yeah, man. Now we're talking. See, you get it. You get it.

Matt: I'm not even a smoker anymore, I don't know.

Cort Psyops: No, you s just cigar smoke.

Matt: Just but y cigars should not be done inside unless it's the cigar lounge.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: That's different, man. That's some different shit.

Cort Psyops: Ja. My voice is feeling a bit raw this morning from hanging out in your garage with the smoke around.

Matt: Yeah.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Who did the cinematography On this.

Matt: No.

Cort Psyops: I'm like obsessed with

Matt: Obsessed with the cinematography was Robin Vizion.

Cort Psyops: Okay. Probably not their first cinematography then is my guess.

Matt: As my gift.

Matt: He has a...

Matt: Blue link, so he is listed in uh Uh Wikipedia, he has a whole article on himself.

Matt: He's an English retired cinematographer best known for his work on Hellraiser, Hellbound Hellraiser too, and Nightbreed.

Matt: Breed.

Cort Psyops: Oh wow. Yeah. Nightbreed's gorgeous the way that it's lit as well. Yeah.

Matt: Yep.

Cort Psyops: I'm guessing uh they probably paired Clive up being a first time director with a really solid like director of photography and cinematographer.

Cort Psyops: Because the the lighting in this is is

Cort Psyops: imperative. And then also, uh, what's really important, a lot of the effects Uh like Bob Keane and his crew were working along with the cinematographers to light the effects to Present them in the best way possible.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: And you know, it's a really like show and showcase but also hide Maybe some imperfections with shadow a little bit too.

Cort Psyops: And then really get the the master monster effects. And I think that's what makes the effects uh hold up so well.

Matt: No man stripping down to the whitey tidies, Jesus.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, but leaving the black socks, that's a total power move.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: You gotta have grip.

Matt: Homie, you gotta have g where do you think the grip comes from? I bet those have grippies on the bottom.

Cort Psyops: That's why some porn stars leave their tennis shoes on.

Matt: Yeah, exactly.

Matt: I don't know why the other ones leave their heels on though. That's uh that there's like double points if you can do that shit with heels on.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. That's what it feels like.

Matt: He'll stay on.

Matt: That's a balance, I don't even know. Oh

Matt: Hello.

Cort Psyops: The sound design of the hammer strikes is grotesque, especially in your headphones, is it not?

Matt: Oh yeah!

Cort Psyops: It's really well done.

Cort Psyops: Foley is so important in a film and it's just so overlooked in a lot of cases.

Cort Psyops: Not here at all.

Matt: The only worst hammer kill was in uh Texas Chainsaw Mask of Part 2.

Cort Psyops: Oh, the incoming mail where LG just takes hit after hit after hit. That's pretty brutal.

Matt: Yeah. Yeah, it was a brutal that was a brutal hit.

Cort Psyops: I think Julia has found that she also comes really hard when she kills.

Matt: Well yeah, I guess. Jesus.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: Specifically for Frank.

Cort Psyops: Frank.

Matt: Someone get her a cigarette.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: In a bar.

Cort Psyops: Ha ha ha.

Cort Psyops: I love the way that uh Nebraska circumvented that cigarette ban for certain bars like whether

Matt: You know.

Matt: Yeah with keynote. That that's I mean, that's no more anymore either, you know.

Matt: Yeah. Now there's just no smoking in bars, but

Cort Psyops: That lasted for a really long time.

Matt: That was a long time, yeah. If you're in there's so many bars.

Matt: I I I I'm telling you, whoever owned Kino must have seen a jump in money because there were so many bars that dn didn't have Kino.

Matt: And then they got You know, then all the bars like Y you know, bought the keyno equipment and all that.

Matt: I don't know where they can have this go.

Matt: I don't know what kinda greasy palms, you know, they uh what kind of palms they had to grease to get that agreed to, but Jesus.

Cort Psyops: Just wanted to point out uh you can barely see the nipples through that uh undershirt there.

Matt: Oh my god, that guy oh that's awesome.

Cort Psyops: It's grotesque. I love the globules of like the snail trail of globules left behind. Yeah.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: From Frank's body just crawling away.

Cort Psyops: This is one of my favorite makeups. That lighting I was talking about earlier with This is this is the sequence where You can tell the makeup crew really had a hand in helping light it.

Matt: Oh my god, that's awesome. Look at him.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: That's just so well done and it's so grotesque. It's It's like one of those anatomy statues you would see in a doctor's office or like a science class.

Cort Psyops: Right? Yeah. But in motion and glo and gloopy.

Matt: Yeah, exactly.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: You wanted to talk about the budget for blood? Let's talk about the budget for the ultra slime that Frank is covered in.

Cort Psyops: 'Cause this is.

Matt: Yeah, right.

Cort Psyops: That's a lot of methacellulose dripping off that dude.

Matt: Yeah, I mean...

Matt: What a s he's slimy.

Matt: Come here, damn.

Cort Psyops: Come here, damn you, I wanna touch you.

Cort Psyops: Pr Frank's not big on consent.

Cort Psyops: As we'll definitely see in the second film.

[Silence]

Matt: Or Larry.

Matt: Or Larry.

Matt: Just enjoyed his life.

Cort Psyops: I just want to point out Larry's pause there to dust the banister before he hung his coat from it. Yeah. Is now something that I do because of this film, I think about that where I'm like

Matt: Yeah, you just off before you

Cort Psyops: Yeah, before I hang my coat on it just in case. Like I just double check, make sure. Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Just because of this film.

Matt: God, I don't know what but I do that too, but it wasn't this film. It was but it was a film that made me do it. Somebody else has done it in the past.

Matt: Yeah. Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. There's so many more valuable lessons than to dust off before you hang out your coat. Yeah.

Matt: In this film.

Matt: But I mean still that's pretty important.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Like maybe don't get picked up in the middle of the afternoon in a bar from a beautiful lady'cause she's just gonna murder you with a hammer for her extra.

Matt: Especially when you look the way you look and she looks the way she looks, you know.

Matt: To take a cue, man. Come on. You know you're not that handsome.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, he even comments on it where he knows he's not, you know, good looking and he's kinda nervous about it and he's not sure.

Matt: Sure. Yeah.

Matt: And uh and she's still like, Oh yeah, don't come in I don't trust that, man. Don't don't trust that feeling. Believe that feel trust the feeling you have when you're like, Is this too good to be true?

Matt: True.

Matt: It is.

Cort Psyops: I think it was w in the movie Detroit Rock City where they're like, uh, don't pick up that hot hitchhiker. That's how horror movies start. And then the other guy's like, But yeah, that's also how porno movies start.

Matt: Uh yeah, but horror movies are more more believable than Porto movies, alright?

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Also take a look at yourself and realize which one you probably are ending up in, right?

Matt: Right.

Cort Psyops: Self assessment. Yeah.

Matt: Do you have a tet inch penis? No, then uh you're not in the porno movie.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: I'm hurting.

Matt: I'm hurting.

Matt: Hmm.

Cort Psyops: Or at least maybe not in the one that you think you're gonna be.

Matt: Yeah, right.

Cort Psyops: I don't think this is the actor who plays Frank.

Matt: Heal me completely.

Cort Psyops: Himself, yeah.

Cort Psyops: Because this is a dub too. It looks like he's overdubbed here.

[Silence]

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Oh my god, three slip the city bites.

Cort Psyops: Well yeah, her desire and uh Larry's blood sacrifice brought Frank back.

[Silence]

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: You said it before?

Matt: Say it again.

Cort Psyops: Good lord, those star earrings are just distracting it.

Matt: I think it's shit.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: It's the sort of thing you'd see hanging off the ears of Gozer the Gozarian or something.

Matt: Ja, das war unser 80s.

Matt: Your that's eighties dr that whole this whole look is eighties.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, the sort of like uh smoky eye change of color with a Finish over top.

Cort Psyops: To help with the transition.

[Silence]

Matt: Oh. Ew, ew, you don't know where those finger's been.

Cort Psyops: Yes she does. They've been in the skull of another man to give him more flesh.

Matt: I'm sorry I

Matt: Sorry, I'm new here. You're gonna have to wait.

Matt: Could you not do that, please?

Matt: Where's the manager?

Matt: That's a problem too, because he's out to lunch right now. I want to see.

Matt: I'll get you the manager.

Matt: My middle finger. That's a fucking manager, you prick. I'll kill you.

Cort Psyops: You should tattoo the word manager down your middle finger so that when you're extending it to other people it says manager from the nail down.

Matt: I want to speak to your manager. Here you go.

Cort Psyops: Again, not Clive Barker. Not Alan Moore.

[Silence]

Matt: You know, the more you say that, the more it makes me think that is either Clive Barker or Alan Moore.

Cort Psyops: Just'cause you have to be contrarian to everything I say.

Cort Psyops: I got you in a trap there because if you're contrary to that then that makes you Yeah, contrary, but then you're also being contrary.

Matt: I don't I don't know man. I don't know how we're doing this now.

Matt: You've got me in a corner.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: No, for the longest time I was convinced that that was Clive Barker.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: And then I've heard other people think it was Alan Moore.

Cort Psyops: And so I've just wanted to tell people that both of that is not true.

Matt: Hi. Hi.

Matt: You remember me? I slept in your floor.

Cort Psyops: What's wrong?

Cort Psyops: Yeah, he held her floorboards down for her.

Matt: Yeah. You may uh see me in such movies as your bedroom last night.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: I might look like I'm wearing a sweater from one of the dudes from Tears for Fears.

Matt: Okay.

Matt: Because I am wearing a sweater for one of the Oh man.

Cort Psyops: This guy.

Matt: It's too over.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, he's too overconfident.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Yeah, he's way too overconfident.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, so he's got his whole self assessment off because he thinks that he's pulling Right at his weight, not way above.

Matt: Yeah. And now he's dead again.

Cort Psyops: Julia's getting really efficient with the hammer.

Cort Psyops: It's not uh bringing her to the point of pleasure that it used to be.

Matt: And she makes sure all these guys get in their whitey tidies too.

Cort Psyops: Well it makes it easier for Frank to get at their flesh.

Matt: Oh man, she looks evil now.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, her hair's gone full goes with a gozarian now.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: I'd be full goes or your uh or Good guy from Kidd at play, Jesus.

Cort Psyops: The high flex.

Matt: That's what I talk, man.

Cort Psyops: No, that's not a high flat top. That's because of the crazy.

Matt: Aim for the flat top!

[Music]

Matt: Because there is

Cort Psyops: Yeah, the triangle earrings are super distracting.

Matt: Yeah, man, it's oh god, he's now he's putting on the guy's clothes.

Matt: Smoking cigarettes.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: I can taste that.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Can you imagine how bad the cigarette smoke would hurt for the raw nerve endings and exposed flesh?

Matt: Yeah, I know you're not wrong.

Cort Psyops: And how does it get it

Matt: I just thought about that

Cort Psyops: How does he keep that from scabbing up?

Matt: Uh the mysticals?

Cort Psyops: Why does he have no flesh but you can see fingernails?

Matt: Why does he have the box?

Cort Psyops: Why does he have ears?

Cort Psyops: But he doesn't have enough flesh to fully cover his nose.

Matt: Why is everyone fucking asking questions?

Matt: That's all I'd gone to.

Cort Psyops: Why are we flashbacking to a story that we've already seen?

Matt: Yeah, we already saw this flashback.

Matt: Pain and pleasure.

Cort Psyops: No. Pinhead is based on a character described in the book, uh in the novella as the engineer.

Cort Psyops: And I may have said it earlier, but the closest look to what the centibytes are described as primarily in the book is the chatterer or chatter.

Matt: Or chat No, I got ya. And Clive Barker wrote the book, right?

Cort Psyops: Yeah, he wrote the novella and he adapted it with the screenplay. All the changes are specifically his.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: And honestly, the way that the Centibytes are described would've been really hard to probably bring to film in the eighties.

Cort Psyops: So they just

Matt: I guess.

Cort Psyops: They just fetishize like fetish.

Cort Psyops: Dulled them up a little bit.

Cort Psyops: More or less.

Cort Psyops: They're still horrifically grotesque, but In a in a way it's also very alluring.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: In a way that doesn't make you wanna kill yourself?

Matt: Ευχαριστώ.

Cort Psyops: I mean, I'm not gonna open the box, but like I kinda understand is what I'm saying. For some people, I get it.

Matt: Yeah. All right.

Matt: Man, I ain't never opened it. I don't even want to know about the box and leave all that stuff.

[Silence]

Matt: I thought this kind of stuff made you sick.

Cort Psyops: She's fucking bored by the violence now.

Matt: Yep.

Matt: That's a big kill. Ah man, he's going crazy.

Cort Psyops: Well he's so close, all he needs now is skin.

Matt: Yep.

Matt: Продолжение следует...

Cort Psyops: Well I don't know how many murders mean skin.

Cort Psyops: At least one more because that's what we're doing.

Matt: That's what I'm saying.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. And I would understand if it is only one and that's why he's like, Now, now now I don't want to even wait one more night.

Cort Psyops: He's ready to take his own brother's skin.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: ترجمة نانسي قنقر

Cort Psyops: Quite literally is Cuck holding his brother. Quite literally.

Matt: That is just fucked up, man.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, well, it is what it is.

Matt: What's the matter with you anyway?

[Silence]

Matt: ご視聴ありがとうございました

Matt: I'm here.

Matt: Amen. You're safe.

Cort Psyops: This is sort of a weird sequence where Claire Higgins' character, Julia, is Attempting to sort of save Larry.

Matt: Ja. Maybe or

Cort Psyops: No, yeah, she's trying to keep Larry from being killed by Frank. Like I think she doesn't want to harm Larry.

Cort Psyops: Even for flag.

Matt: Probably not.

Matt: She just loves Frank. I don't think she hates Larry as much as she just needs Frank.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, and I don't think she's willing to sacrifice this

Matt: Большое спасибо.

Cort Psyops: What she has with Larry currently for Frank?

Matt: Larry.

Matt: A cozy little lifestyle.

Cort Psyops: Well and also if Larry disappears He's her main source of income.

Matt: That's what I'm saying, lifestyle.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Yeah, her life disappears.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: She wants to be able to run away with Frank from this life. She doesn't want this lifestyle to end until she's ready to run away with Frank.

Matt: Yeah, exactly.

Matt: Okay.

Cort Psyops: The thing that's nice about just going right to two If you only just watch part two and you don't watch part one very often is Almost everything.

Cort Psyops: Effects wise that's in part one is in the recap of part two of part one.

Matt: Oh, that's nice. See, look at that. We're gonna watch it all again.

Cort Psyops: The rats with the nails through'em, that's really gruesome, especially

Matt: Especially the anime.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. That an animatronic was really well done.

Matt: That was.

[Silence]

Matt: Yeah, let's get some of that subpar.

Matt: Boning gone.

Cort Psyops: I believe the phrase no please I can't bear it gets uttered later on.

Cort Psyops: Wow.

Matt: Ha ha ha.

Cort Psyops: But she's not actually talking to Larry. Larry just thinks she's talking to him.

Matt: Oh. Alright, baby, get ready for the most adequate wienering you've ever had.

Matt: And it won't take long.

Matt: Take long.

Matt: You won't even know I'm gone.

Cort Psyops: He will sufficiently make love to his completion.

Matt: Please.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Hey listen, every time they had sex he always orgasmed.

Cort Psyops: Every time they've had sex it's the hardest Larry's ever come.

Matt: Ha ha ha ha.

Matt: Yeah. Every time.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, this is pretty fucked up where sh he just walks over and starts skinning a rat at them.

Cort Psyops: Like he's literally like, I want Larry's skin in the most horrific way.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Uh that's fairly.

Matt: Not Larry, Frank Jack, right?

Cort Psyops: I believe that is Frank's actor with the makeup on his face, yeah.

Cort Psyops: Ja. I think once he gets the bloody flesh.

Cort Psyops: It's him because then they have more they can work with with the 3D effect without making them too big.

[Music]

Cort Psyops: And if you really, really look, you can kind of see the pieces as they built them to make the musculature.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: You know, the goop helps.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: One minute. You can see the scenes. Yeah. Here's where she said I can't bear it and then

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Oh Frank.

Matt: Oh Larry.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Two brothers.

Matt: Why can't these crazy kids just get it together?

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: You ever heard of a hot dog that was called a skinless Frank?

Matt: No.

Matt: I don't like it. I don't want it anymore.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, it's like a hot dog without the skin on the outside, so they're called skinless Franks.

Matt: No, I don't like it.

Cort Psyops: Like it. That's basically what we have right now with Hellraiser.

Cort Psyops: The skinless Frank. And Larry's the casing that Frank needs.

Matt: Means

Matt: Yep, yep, yep.

Matt: Soon you'll be a Larry Case Frank.

Cort Psyops: Oh man.

Cort Psyops: It's not really Edgar, it's just someone wearing an Edgar.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Yeah, you're so good.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Exactly.

Cort Psyops: Oh man, that actress is fucking awesome in everything she shows up in.

Matt: She's always bringing her a game.

Cort Psyops: Very gay man.

Matt: Oh shit, yeah.

Cort Psyops: For sure.

Cort Psyops: I think I'm finally learning how to very carefully handle my mic without getting mic noise.

Matt: Yeah, I c I could hear it a little bit to be honest.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, yeah, but yeah, yeah. I'm trying, man, but This new sure digital mic, sure.

Cort Psyops: It can't be touched at all.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: It has no Isolation like the

Matt: No.

Matt: Find me somebody.

Cort Psyops: High PR.

Cort Psyops: Thirties that are forties that we had.

Cort Psyops: But I don't want to haul around a fucking interface for a PR forty.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: So I just don't I try not to touch the mic too much.

Matt: Just don't mind just just don't touch it.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. But it still it happens.

Cort Psyops: But you know, a podcast can have mic noise, especially one that's not professional, that's been going on for over eleven years.

Matt: Yeah, right?

Cort Psyops: With this recording, we are well past our eleven years working on this podcast because that that was August.

Matt: Oh, nice.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, we actually started this in an August over eleven

Matt: Oh man.

Matt: Oh man.

Cort Psyops: And then we took a break.

Cort Psyops: So technically this is our year eleven, but we've been doing this for like over twelve years pretty much.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Is that nuts with this episode at least?

Matt: That is insane.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, it's about twelve years of fucking podcasting.

Cort Psyops: So a little mic noise after twelve years of obsessive

Cort Psyops: Trying to make the most pure audio. Yeah, I I think it's fine. It doesn't matter.

Matt: Yeah, we're all right.

Matt: Right.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: Then how dare anybody say anything different?

Cort Psyops: Different. Well, I mean let's face it, if anybody was listening for us b for the no mic noise at all that was happening.

Cort Psyops: They're long gone.

Matt: No yeah, yeah, yeah. Right.

Cort Psyops: And then they're also not gonna care what we have to say while we're Talking over Hellraiser, but not a

Matt: Yeah, well we're talking over they might be mad we're talking over Hellraiser, actually.

Cort Psyops: I do feel bad for this guy, but then he did also try to hide behind a woman.

Matt: Yeah, I mean, come on.

Cort Psyops: And although the woman did bring him here.

Matt: Well, bud, you see, he she's gonna totally let him kill you.

Cort Psyops: What's crazy is that guy wasn't down to his tidy whiteys like everybody else.

Matt: No, man, they they were getting impatient.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Well Frank wants flesh.

Matt: Yep.

Matt: And Julia wants Frank's flesh.

Matt: Субтитры сделал DimaTorzok

Cort Psyops: Wow, it's almost like we timed that.

Matt: Yeah, right.

Cort Psyops: No we did not plan that.

Matt: No we did not. That just happened.

[Silence]

Matt: That Happ it.

Cort Psyops: So those uh weird gurgly noises when Frank is pulling flesh and blood away.

Cort Psyops: are also really well done fullying that's gross.

Cort Psyops: I think this is the original stereo mix, so the suckling weird noises like panned to either one side or the other.

Cort Psyops: Which makes it even more prominent and gross.

Matt: Frank is uh uh Frank is a big room.

Matt: It's a big roadie.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: You know, the house just really needs like a new coat of paint.

Cort Psyops: Is what it looks like.

Matt: Yeah, it would be really nice and you could have a nice time with all that.

Cort Psyops: That wall that looks blackened, I think might be gaslighted. Like the

Matt: Tack så mycket.

[Music]

Cort Psyops: It's nice of the flesh to grow back so that his gu he has ears and nose.

Matt: Frank. No.

Matt: It's Uncle Frank. Listen, everything's alright. I know how I look, but it's Uncle Frank.

Cort Psyops: But he also says come to daddy to her which means

Matt: which means that's right.

Matt: That's right. Gross.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: You're beautiful.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: Yeah, I know you're gross dude.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Frank's gross for multiple reasons.

Matt: Yeah, that's right.

Matt: Yeah, breaks growth a lot.

Cort Psyops: And the fact that he's a skinless Frank isn't the most

Matt: It's actually probably like number like reason twelve out of the top twenty reasons of why Frace Creek.

Cort Psyops: Frank's so good.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. The fact that he has no skin right now is not really the

Matt: Really the best.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. The fact that he talks to his niece like that and gets sexual at her, that's probably number one grossest.

Matt: Ah, these those finally like fuck off.

Cort Psyops: You know his testicles are exposed.

Cort Psyops: There was there was definitely no uh No skin protecting his testicles right now.

Matt: Uh oh.

Matt: We haven't picked that up on the last time.

Matt: Give me that box!

Matt: Well that's it.

Cort Psyops: Well that's the problem. Once a lady starts playing with her box she can't stop.

Matt: I was wondering if you're gonna get there.

Matt: Ha ha ha ha.

Cort Psyops: I mean I didn't have to, but I wanted to.

Matt: Yeah, I love to.

Matt: We're all fucking sent here.

Cort Psyops: But also, you know.

Cort Psyops: You can get addicted to it.

Cort Psyops: Like I said, once you come super hard you can probably get addicted to it. It does happen.

Matt: You'd get addicted to the box. I get it.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, and before long I am the man in the box.

Matt: For long I am the clit commander

Cort Psyops: Those nuns want none of that.

Matt: No those does

Matt: Enjoyed that.

Matt: Should we offer her

Matt: Did we offer her help? Nah.

Matt: Nah, she seems fine. Let's get the hell out of it.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Or they might just be on their way back from the strip.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: They might be just dressed as nuns to entice.

Matt: Who knows?

Matt: Yeah, right.

Matt: Nah man, we're not real dungeons.

Cort Psyops: I think that box is for letters.

Matt: But they're in Morocco.

Matt: You all right?

[Music]

Cort Psyops: Is this supposed to be America? Why is a guy in England wearing a New York Yankees?

Matt: Yeah, why is the guy in Morocco wearing a Yankees hat? Man, the Yankees just travel.

Cort Psyops: This is not Morocco. Where did that come from?

Matt: I thought it was Morocco.

Matt: In Mor oh no, Frank was in Morocco when he died, when he got the box.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: I got to know.

Cort Psyops: That was a weird tangent.

Cort Psyops: I think the shot of the time lapse flower opening up is symbolic.

Matt: No, you think

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: It's kinda gross.

Cort Psyops: I'm just saying I think it might be symbolic.

Matt: I won't be able to do it.

Cort Psyops: How about that nurse?

Cort Psyops: Just sitting in there watching T V Ignoring a patient.

Matt: Yeah, watching a f the other T V was a flower.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Back into bed.

Matt: It's important. It really is First things first.

Matt: First.

Cort Psyops: We'll get your telephone.

Matt: telephone after we've talked

Cort Psyops: What about this? Ringin the bells?

Matt: Hanging the bells?

Cort Psyops: He really should not have his hands on her box without per permission.

[Silence]

Matt: But you should wear gloves.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, he should definitely have gloves if it's an exam. In the meantime

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Maybe this Here, take this doomed piece of art antiquity and uh you know.

Cort Psyops: Fiddle around with it a bit.

Matt: You were found covered in blood that wasn't yours, but we'll leave you with this box thing and Not have a guard or nothing.

Matt: I mean they at least locked her in.

Cort Psyops: Ma'am, you were covered in the DNA of amalgamation of at least five dead men.

Matt: Yeah. The police are definitely gonna need to talk to you.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: That is the most covering hospital gown that has ever existed.

Matt: Bye-bye.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: And it's pissing me off.

Cort Psyops: No, I'm I'm glad.

Cort Psyops: That that exists for other people.

Cort Psyops: Some of us have to bring a bathrobe because hospital gowns are not good.

Matt: Uh yeah, same. I I know exactly what you mean.

Matt: Through my numerous stays in the hospital.

[Music]

Cort Psyops: I get mesmerized by the puzzle box scenes.

Cort Psyops: I should be talking about that.

Cort Psyops: Uh I think the lightning bolt animation work there, that wasn't too

Matt: That was it.

Matt: That wasn't too bad.

Matt: Cause it did also make little sperms that came out, so

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Dusty latex for uh cobweb spreading, it looks like maybe.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. It might be some fabric.

Cort Psyops: And then that immediately went away.

Cort Psyops: That perspective hallway is really well done though.

Cort Psyops: Wonder how far she could actually walk in there.

Cort Psyops: When the uh engineer puppet that comes running down this hallway at her I mean, spoiler alert for people that haven't watched this before, but why would you watch our commentary if you haven't seen this before?

Matt: Yeah, right. That seems like a weird uh order of doing things, but whatever.

Cort Psyops: You live your life however. But this engineer puppet i as it gets going, if you really look um around the edges of the puppet, particularly around the face.

Cort Psyops: You can kinda see the wheels of the cart it's sitting on a little bit.

Cort Psyops: Oh. Some of the rods that are animating it.

[Music]

Cort Psyops: I always thought that this thing looked like a like a malformed like fetus that got aborted.

Cort Psyops: It's so disturbing looking.

Matt: Definitely not blue uh flower blooming, that's for sure.

Matt: Ha ha ha.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, can we go back to that? Yeah.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Yeah, right.

Cort Psyops: And again, this is lit really, really well.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, the way it comes into the underlighting to show its face.

Matt: Ew.

Cort Psyops: Right there you can kinda see some of the cart behind it that they're using.

Matt: I can.

Cort Psyops: That's A little bit you can see some of the shadows of the crew that are working the puppet in a few of the shots, but Otherwise the sequence is edited so well and so quickly that Very rarely can you kind of see and tell how it's all done.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: And that was really difficult to do with that tunnel lighting that they did to kind of make it more vortex like.

Cort Psyops: But I think a lot of the editing will save that sequence.

Cort Psyops: Minor little spots that you could see how they did it.

Matt: Thank you.

Cort Psyops: Yeah and it it looks like Sort of an amalgamation of like a bearded dragon and an aborted fetus.

Matt: Yeah, it's a little weird.

Cort Psyops: It's horrific looking.

Cort Psyops: It really is.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: That's a trick Clive's used from his very earlier days of uh short films.

Matt: Oh okay.

Cort Psyops: Filming in negative.

Cort Psyops: For certain things like that.

Cort Psyops: I haven't really gotten a chance to see a lot of his earlier stuff, but like There was like a biography episode of Clyde Barker or some of it.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: And I remember seeing that trick of filming in negative videos a lot.

Cort Psyops: Black and white negative.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: I still think the lightning strikes coming in to bring the centibytes in I'm Not a huge fan of, but that's the smallest of complaints.

Matt: But I do like the uh city bites there.

Cort Psyops: How long did it take before you realize that the Cenobites' clothing is their own flesh removed, turned into leather, and then put back on them?

Matt: I didn't know that at all. You didn't know.

Matt: Slow.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, that's their own skin.

Cort Psyops: Turned into leather and then put back on them.

Matt: Amen. Explorers in the further regions of the yeah.

Cort Psyops: You see that in uh when they they form hell or they form uh

Matt: Uh

Cort Psyops: Pinhead in like the behind the scenes

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: where in you know you see the box forming'em. I think you see that a little bit in part two, but it's more prevalent in three.

Cort Psyops: Where they turn him into I sign a vote.

Matt: Right.

Matt: No, no, no. You solved the box. We came. Now you must come with us.

Cort Psyops: The pinhead in the book, it's known as the engineer. Instead of it being like a steel pin or like a nail.

Cort Psyops: It's actually a jeweled tip pin that's stuck into each of those Cross sections.

Matt: Yeah. Wow.

Cort Psyops: Like a really prominently jeweled tip pin.

Matt: That's some substance good shit.

Matt: Many, many times.

Cort Psyops: And I believe there is a a description of another center bite that looks like the butterball centibyte.

Cort Psyops: But a lot of the ones that show up The way that they look are Like kinda like But again it's their skin taken off of them turned into leather and then put back on.

Cort Psyops: And it's kinda differently done.

Cort Psyops: Like where it's not necessarily dyed into black leather that gives it the more fetishware look.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: But in the eighties.

Cort Psyops: Showing this was so intense that it left an impression on me.

Matt: Generally, I think that's a good idea.

Matt: Sure.

Cort Psyops: Pressure that anyway.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, it's still super intense.

Matt: Your soul apart.

Cort Psyops: Makeup is just so amazing on the Centellites too.

Cort Psyops: So It should probably not shock you at all, Matt, that's I don't know.

Matt: I don't know.

Cort Psyops: Clive Barker is into a BDSM lifestyle.

Matt: M No, get out of here.

Cort Psyops: Okay. Just thought you would probably like to know.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Yeah, no, I d I definitely wanted to know that and I let not like I did put two two to fucking together here.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: Ha ha ha.

Matt: Clive Barker, you naughty dog.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Just wash your hands and always have consent. That's really

Matt: That's right.

Matt: Uh share fucking hands.

Cort Psyops: Get consent.

Cort Psyops: But wash your hands too.

Matt: Wash always wash your head.

Cort Psyops: Unless you're like into getting infections and germs and stuff and then live your life how you choose, but you should still probably wash your hands.

Matt: Yeah up and this is where

Matt: This is where freight yeah.

Cort Psyops: Well she's not here now.

Cort Psyops: Puts on a bagger suit.

Cort Psyops: Maybe she's going back to the biggest thing.

Cort Psyops: That's what I like to call it when one person is wearing another person's flesh.

Matt: Yeah, wear the eggers suit.

Matt: And he's walking around in a nice new Eckert suit.

[Music]

Cort Psyops: This is pretty fucked up, man. She murdered like seven people.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Just so she could get laid proper again.

Matt: Just I mean, I'm telling you, once it happens right, man, you're you're

Matt: Ha ha.

Matt: You got feelings.

Matt: Yeah.

[Music]

Cort Psyops: So she's fucking the corpse of her ex lover.

Cort Psyops: Wrapped in the flesh of her.

Cort Psyops: Ex husband.

Matt: Okay, so it ha oh yeah, so Larry was killed off camera.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, yeah, it's already happened, dude.

Cort Psyops: Larry ain't pumping her in a way that's gonna make her moan like that. You know that's true.

Matt: Oh yeah, that's right, that's true.

Cort Psyops: Oh her transformation to evil has been complete with the shoulder pads.

Matt: Goes are the Gozerian hair and shoulder pads. There's nothing more evil in the eighties.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, especially since Gozer the Gozarian also had shoulder pads of

Matt: What's the matter?

Matt: I wanna see my father!

Matt: I want to see my fault.

Matt: Father.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Probably the creepiest line uttered on film is come to daddy.

Matt: Yeah. Yeah.

Cort Psyops: And when Andrew Robinson's doing it as Frank In Larry's skin, it's even more disturbing.

Cort Psyops: So if you haven't seen a loved one in a while but trailing all around their hairline is blood

Matt: Yeah, he might run up.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: ترجمة نانسي قنقر

Cort Psyops: Yeah, you might wanna just double check if uh Yeah, and then also maybe get them to a hospital with all that blood all around.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Damn it. It's okay.

Matt: Okay, baby.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, that looks like he's wearing someone else's head like Ed Dean, like this

Matt: Like the right.

Matt: Yeah, right.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Matt: Terrible.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: They even put a bunch of goop up around his hairline there, you see it? There's like skin goop that looks like a seam.

Matt: Oh yeah.

Matt: Just too much Frank for uh

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: For yeah, for his uh eggers suit of Larry.

Matt: Larry.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Wasn't really Egg or it was like some

Matt: It was like someone wearing an egg or suit.

Matt: Or agar.

Matt: Yes for living water.

Matt: It's sugar water.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Cast for sugar in water.

Matt: Sugar water.

Matt: Yeah.

[Silence]

Matt: Feeling better.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Poor Kirsty.

Matt: I don't.

Cort Psyops: How do you process?

Cort Psyops: All of this shit.

Matt: Right.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, here's where the same guy who played uh Scorpio who kidnapped a whole busload of kids.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: It's been a long time since I've seen it. I think it might have even been like a busload of blind kids. Like it was like really like a horrible act.

Matt: Well yeah, it's gotta make it for dirty Harry to be able to do something about it.

Matt: I need to see him.

Matt: No you don't.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, I think he is he he's the only real recipient of the Do You Feel Lucky Punk speech.

Matt: Speech, right?

Matt: Yeah. I think so.

Cort Psyops: I don't we've never really done Dirty Harry, have we?

Matt: No.

Cort Psyops: I think I wanna do copaganda though, man, because Dirty Harry really is copaganda.

Matt: Yeah. Yeah, that's the problem.

Cort Psyops: It's like doing the Lethal Weapon films and like trying to deny that it's propaganda.

Matt: Yeah. I'm getting too old for this shit.

Cort Psyops: He was in fact forty two when he was getting too old.

Matt: getting too old for this. Yeah, yeah. I'm far older than Riggs was when he was too old for that shit.

Matt: Or Marta.

Cort Psyops: Marton, yeah.

Matt: Murtaugh.

Cort Psyops: Skinless.

Cort Psyops: Larry.

Cort Psyops: He's still steamin'.

Matt: That's rough.

[Silence]

Matt: Yeah.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: The lighting is just so gorgeous.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: One of the tricks that they use in the lighting so well is going between the slats of like the old plaster.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: In the house and shining the light.

Cort Psyops: So that it beams through the slats out.

Cort Psyops: And reveals some things or or will show highlights of characters.

Cort Psyops: with beams of light, that's a really well done.

Matt: Oh yeah.

Cort Psyops: They're using the banisters for shadow beams and stuff.

Cort Psyops: Just to kind of make the frame more interesting to look at.

Matt: Uh-huh. Oh man, now she's looking evil.

Cort Psyops: Elbow to the tit.

Matt: They'll always they'll always take someone out.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: If to right, no can defense.

Matt: Wait, no, wait, I told you all that's over with now.

Matt: It's not! We've gotta get out of here!

Matt: Oh stay.

Matt: Stay with us.

Cort Psyops: With us.

Matt: We can all be

Matt: I'll be happy.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, he's totally doing Scorpio. He's talking the same way.

Matt: Ew

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: That's her dead uncle's corpse.

Cort Psyops: Reanimated.

Matt: Wearing it.

Cort Psyops: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Asking her to come to Daddy. That is just the grossest.

Matt: There's gonna be That's gonna be therapy.

Matt: Be for years if she were ever to live through this.

Cort Psyops: Decades. Decades of therapy.

Matt: Yeah.

[Music]

Matt: One f uh

Matt: The stepmom's like, Oh man, I hardly even got to break him in yet. You're already ruining him.

[Music]

Matt: So much.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: So much for the cat and mouse shit. Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Later on he actually does scream, Not My Face in the second movie we'll see when we do that kind of thing.

Matt: after that kind of turn.

[Music]

Cort Psyops: Oh, you forget about this? Double cross?

Matt: Bid Devil Cross.

[Music]

Matt: Well, he didn't want her around no more anyway.

Matt: Nothing personal, babe.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. It'll be personal in the next movie.

Matt: He at least gave her one more, you know, one more romp, right?

Cort Psyops: He did say.

Cort Psyops: She would do anything for just one more.

Cort Psyops: He did make her say that.

Cort Psyops: Earlier on when that flashback was sold out.

Matt: Where are you, Billy?

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Almost there.

Cort Psyops: I love how Frank says so much for the cat and mouse shit and then it proceeds to go to cat and mouse shit.

Matt: Mouse shit.

Cort Psyops: Oh, the she's entering the body disposal room.

Matt: Way to corporeze uh corporate speak the term of that room, man.

Cort Psyops: Body disposal room.

Matt: Yeah, yeah.

Matt: Yeah, yeah.

Cort Psyops: Well that's I mean, that's its whole purpose is to hide bodies for Julia.

Matt: Ja.

Matt: But I mean it's still that's very corporate speak for murder room.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: No, the murder room is on the other side.

Cort Psyops: This is just the b that's just the body storage unit.

Matt: She's

Cort Psyops: Jesus Christ.

Matt: Yeah. Yeah.

Matt: He is always around.

Cort Psyops: Hiding in every closet.

Matt: Yeah.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: I would say that the place you would want to be the least is your body storage room.

Matt: Yeah. That means the smell

Matt: You can't get out. I mean, it's all bad.

Cort Psyops: But also you as the victim trying to hide from

Matt: Uh

Cort Psyops: You know What seems to be eminent death.

Cort Psyops: If you're already in the room they used to dispose of the bodies, you've done half the work for them.

Matt: Yeah, exactly.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: I mean honestly, Julia kills him in the other room'cause it was easier for Frank, but they should have just been having Frank come over to the room and kill him in the storage room.

Matt: Right.

Matt: Well, why are we the one with ticket like that?

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, efficiency in murder.

Matt: Oh.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Maggot Vomit. That would be a good name for a fucking death metal band.

Matt: Oh yeah, maggot vomit? Huh, yep. All right, there's another one.

Matt: I wonder if there's there's gotta be someone who's thought of that name, right?

Cort Psyops: Maggot Vomit, probably. And then they thought that was a bad name and chose not to use it.

Matt: Yeah. Or there is someone out there with the band named Megot Momet.

Cort Psyops: Who really resents the joke that I just made?

Matt: Продолжение следует...

Cort Psyops: Probably.

Matt: That was offensive. That's offensive. You're offensive.

Cort Psyops: If your band is actually named Maggot Vomit and we've made fun of you for that, then I'm sorry.

Matt: I'm not.

Matt: Uh take a joke like a grown up, okay?

Matt: You named your band Meg fucking Megan vomit. You know what you're doing.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: I ain't here to apologize.

Cort Psyops: That intricate carving at the top of the stairs.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Yeah, no.

Matt: Really nice. That's good architecture.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. I'm focusing in on that and I'm trying to ignore the woman breaking down

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. An utter loss.

Matt: No, we don't do a motion here.

Cort Psyops: I can't process that.

Matt: No. I'm not for it.

Matt: Ha ha ha

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: I've just got stuff to the

Matt: Oh yeah,'cause he killed the lady, he's all repaired.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, even though the skin's still torn.

Matt: Oh, it is torred. Never mind.

Matt: Yeah. No, don't mourn him.

Matt: He was dead long before.

Cort Psyops: He's just wearing that skin. He hasn't regrown his yet.

Matt: Everything's All right.

Cort Psyops: I wonder how many people it actually takes to completely reconstitute and

Matt: And then how many it'll take too much?

Matt: Your own body.'Cause it didn't w all the other guys he was killing, it wasn't growing any Flashback.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Skin and where were the flesh of supernaturally speaking. This is what I was talking about, the columns of light coming through the slack.

Matt: the slacks.

Matt: Oh they found him.

Cort Psyops: Well, y they had to hear him confess himself before they would come to take him.

Cort Psyops: That was Pinhead's condition.

Matt: Yeah, and he just did that.

[Silence]

Matt: Ow, ow, ow.

Matt: Thank you.

Cort Psyops: Simple way of doing that is measuring out the chains, holding them up from high and letting them drop.

Matt: Yep. Oh and then there's that box thing. That's big in three.

Cort Psyops: The pillar? Yeah.

Matt: Yeah. Yeah. The pillar is withholding them.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Lot of people don't like three.

Cort Psyops: I give up until about four. Uh there's a lot of stuff in four that I can appreciate why people wouldn't like.

Matt: I still

Cort Psyops: I still dig four.

Cort Psyops: Three was definitely a step down, especially after two, but like where are

Matt: Where are you going to go?

Cort Psyops: Where are you gonna go after two?

Matt: I like the

Matt: I like the DJ Cinnabite.

Cort Psyops: A lot of people really dislike those various like humorous set bites. And I understand why.

Matt: I get it.

Cort Psyops: I get it.

Matt: Amen.

Matt: I didn't think they were supposed to be here, I thought they were horrified.

Cort Psyops: No C D of the DJ.

Cort Psyops: Well he has his fans but there were a lot of people that had issues with a lot of the centibytes in three.

Matt: Well how about this? I thought the makeup looked good.

Cort Psyops: Speaking of excellent makeup.

Cort Psyops: Attacks on Frank are

Matt: Just so well done.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Yeah.

[Silence]

Matt: That's our dance here that's having a bad day.

[Music]

Cort Psyops: The alien?

Matt: Yeah, the Cadapia.

Cort Psyops: The big hook always gets people.

Matt: Yeah.

[Music]

Cort Psyops: They change actresses between one and two for the female Cenovite, I think.

Matt: Thank you.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: I might be talking out of my ass. Oh.

Matt: Their stepmother.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, so the centibytes took her two

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: But off camera.

Matt: we didn't get to see it

Matt: She was holding on to the puzzle box, that's why.

Cort Psyops: Or maybe with the energy she had left after Frank drained her, she crawled her way onto the bed with the box and opened it?

Matt: Oh maybe.

[Silence]

Matt: Such sights to show you.

Cort Psyops: The most infamous line from

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: We have such sights to show you.

Cort Psyops: The failure of our commentary will be legendary, Matt, even in hell.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: No. Do that.

Matt: GO TO HELL!

Cort Psyops: You know, when a cell centibyte tells you not to do something, it's probably a good idea to do it.

Matt: My God, keep doing it.

Matt: Whenever a bad guy in a movie or you know, the evil goes, Don't do that, you should probably just keep doing it.

Cort Psyops: Alright, this animation at the end and then

Cort Psyops: Where each centibyte gets blasted away at the box. I've always had a problem with this even as a

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: But again, I understand they don't have the how else are they gonna Portray something like this.

Matt: Yeah, right.

Matt: Right.

Cort Psyops: Right. And in the eighties the best thing is to just do animation over the film cells like this. Yeah.

Matt: Thank you.

Cort Psyops: Everything else has been so wonderfully done that like I said, that is just the most minor of thing to even really have an issue with.

Cort Psyops: But I think it's because everything else is so masterfully done, I it bugs me.

Cort Psyops: You know what I mean?

Cort Psyops: I do love the way the butterball shows up in this. Oh no, the chatterer. Yeah, it's the way chatterer shows up in this.

Cort Psyops: It's chatterer first and then buttercoli.

[Silence]

Matt: Bye, Cheddar.

Cort Psyops: Butterball gets a raw deal.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: The house just kinda.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, he doesn't even get sent back to hell.

Matt: Technically,

Cort Psyops: Yeah, he's still buried in the house when when everything else happens. Like she never actually sends him back. So he gets he gets like marooned in on Earth.

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Oh no. Oh god. No!

Matt: Open

Cort Psyops: The engineer.

Cort Psyops: That's in this film's engineer is uh This aborted fetus bearded.

Matt: It's back.

Matt: Someone find the cart.

Cort Psyops: No, and this one this sequence is really well animated, you don't really see the cart at all.

Cort Psyops: I always feel bad about pointing out when I notice things like that, but when you're doing a commentary, what else are you gonna talk about?

Matt: Yeah, right. I mean nothing really.

Matt: It's what you do a

Matt: You do a commentary for.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, and anything that's actual facts about the movie you should really listen to actual commentaries by people that made the film for that.

Cort Psyops: Not two douchebags.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: That animation banishing him works. But again, Butterball is still buried upstairs.

Cort Psyops: He hasn't been banished, he's still on earth.

Cort Psyops: Eventually he'll get out of that rubber.

Matt: Buried under some shit. And you'll never see'em. But

Cort Psyops: This looks like prime real estate. Eventually this site will get cleared and Butterball will be freed upon the earth.

Matt: Yeah, right.

Cort Psyops: Without being sent back.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: So her reworking the puzzle box in this is removing consent from the centibytes.

Matt: Ja. I mean...

Matt: And we're about consent here, so she's technically in the wrong.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: No, she's removing the consent that

Cort Psyops: the Centibytes had to harm her. So she's in the right. She's got her permission to She's allowed to remove her consent any time she wants, is what I'm getting.

Matt: is what I'm doing.

Matt: Oh, I thought you meant she didn't follow the Cinnabite's consent.

Cort Psyops: No, no, she's just banishing them from doing any harm.

Matt: Of course.

[Silence]

Cort Psyops: Okay, so they're now in a vacant lot where everything is just burning for no reason. Is this what is left of the house? Because one of the things is a chair.

Matt: I think so.

[Silence]

Matt: Or no, it's like a homeless area maybe.

Matt: Unhoused, man. Unhoused.

Matt: Unhouse.

Matt: People's area.

[Silence]

Matt: But I apologize.

Cort Psyops: I just don't think this is the best plan for disposing of a box just because you're in an apocalypse setting to begin with.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Also, he's wearing the wrong outfit for disposing of a box of a men's power like that.

Matt: That's...

[Silence]

Matt: Terrible.

Matt: Un housed guy.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. Clive Barker in makeup and that is not Alan Moore.

Matt: Gotcha.

[Music]

Cort Psyops: It is, however, apparently someone who can burn.

Cort Psyops: While picking up the box.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Then transform into a skeletal dragon and fly off with the box back to hell.

Matt: That's fair.

Cort Psyops: This puppet is out.

Matt: That was the actual devil.

Cort Psyops: This uh puppet is absolutely incredible. I don't want to disparage it in any way, shape or form.

Cort Psyops: I just Don't understand why, other than it's just cool.

Cort Psyops: It's just a cool sequence, you know what I mean?

Cort Psyops: It's the only thing that doesn't really fit for me.

Cort Psyops: But they bring it back to the box here in the what's your pleasure sure and I I really dig the way they finally wrap it up, but that whole sequence in the apocalyptic Burning graveyard just made no sense to me.

Matt: Mm-hmm.

Matt: Yeah, no, that was just kinda weird.

Cort Psyops: Yeah. And then we have another obvious

[Silence]

Matt: From the same dude.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, definitely.

Cort Psyops: All right, there we go. That is fucking Hellraiser. That's a wrap up, so there we go. There we go.

Matt: There we go. We did it.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: Yeah, so I'm just gonna let this film run out uh soundwise for everybody uh on the actual edit of the show.

Cort Psyops: that will get released to the main feed. So we're gonna say goodbye here.

Cort Psyops: I'm gonna take a little break and then we'll come back and record part two to be released later.

Cort Psyops: How's that sound?

Matt: Yeah.

Matt: Yeah.

Cort Psyops: All right, everybody.

Cort Psyops: Thanks so much for listening and or watching if you're seeing it on the Patreon. Kick the fuck out of this week and make it your bitch.
