What is Charted?

Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.

This better be good. I murmured to myself as I kicked my
crampons into the windswept ice that littered the face of the mountain.
The monotonous climb had been long, but I could care less. I could
almost hear my heart beating as I finally stepped onto the summit.
Beauty washed over me like heat in a sauna.
“Is it worth it?” my dad’s question fell faintly upon my ears.
Is it ever! I internally chuckled—I felt like I was a few feet from
heaven. Melting snow gleamed atop the sea of peaks that spread
around me, their snowy spines contrasting the lush green forests
hidden in each valley. A cool breeze tickled my sweaty face as I
marveled at the vast kingdom of solitude I had discovered.
“It is amazing up here!” I called in response to my dad’s
question as I spotted my family still struggling up the mountain. They
could not see the reward that awaited them, but they still climbed in
faith that it would be amazing at the top.
For most of my waking hours, I don’t feel like being a
Christian. I am tempted to think that it’s boring, hard, and pointless. I
can’t fully see the result of God’s plan for me, but He gives me faith. It
gives me the power to ignore Satan’s lies, so I can know that wherever
God takes me, it will be worth it.
