Speaker 1:

Hello, I'm Isabelle. And I'm Marybelle. Your pod twin Welcome to Make It Double.

Speaker 2:

A recap podcast hosted by twin sisters.

Speaker 1:

Every week we break down our favorite comfort shows from reality TV to scripted millennial nostalgia. Join us in this week's episode as we break down Love Island USA season eight. So we are recapping week one of Love Island USA season eight. So let's just briefly talk about our watch history with Love Island USA. I'm pretty sure our first season was season two?

Speaker 1:

That wasn't in 2020, was it? Yeah. It was 2020. It was. Okay.

Speaker 3:

Monster. Is the monster's in character.

Speaker 2:

I have been very off and on from that point though. And then and then I started watching obviously, from like every season after season six. But I I I watched that the that season, the twenty twenty season, and then I watched the season after. And then I moved

Speaker 1:

to Sweden and then Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then

Speaker 2:

I I didn't watch after that.

Speaker 1:

It's interesting because I've watched every single season since season two. Mhmm. But I actually wasn't gonna watch season six until you like, I I I was like, I don't really feel like watching Love Island. It just it I just wasn't really feeling it. And then you start like, I watched a little bit and I was like, I kinda forgot about it.

Speaker 1:

And then you started telling me it's gotten really good. So I was like, okay. Maybe I'll watch it. And I still think season six is the best season that that

Speaker 2:

they've had. Season six was so good.

Speaker 1:

So now that you have a little bit of history from us, let's get into the season eight recap. What are your thoughts on, like, the first week? Did you did you like it?

Speaker 2:

Honestly, I actually like this cast more than any of the other casts initially.

Speaker 1:

So we'll just jump into that signature dance intro that they started doing. I can't remember if they started it with season six or something. It definitely wasn't fully a thing. They were doing more of what The UK does in the the older seasons, but now they're just doing like a full on like music video. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

What were your thoughts on it when you first when you first saw it?

Speaker 2:

Honestly, I glaze over.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I think the song is like catchy, but I I couldn't even tell you what the what the song sounds like. Oh, yeah. Yeah. But yeah, I I don't know. I just I'm like, okay,

Speaker 3:

just get on with the show.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. I know.

Speaker 2:

That that's me personally. I I don't I I'm I'm like, yeah. Okay. That's that's all great. I don't even know what what's the point in this music video?

Speaker 1:

There's no point. It's just to like, I guess I don't know. Just to kick off the the summer. Kick off the sun.

Speaker 2:

I guess it's, like, fun for them.

Speaker 1:

But Uh-huh.

Speaker 2:

I don't know. I just kind of

Speaker 1:

I feel like there's people that really love the that dance and other people who, just wanna fast forward. Every time I I wanna fast forward those those Yeah. Those music videos.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. That's that's me.

Speaker 1:

And the first thing that stood out to me was Kenzie doing, like, the splits a bunch of times. I don't know if you've heard.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

She did so like, I'm like, okay, we get it. Kenzie is 24. She's also from Georgia and she just graduated nursing school.

Speaker 2:

She was the one islander I was like, You're going to annoy me. Initially, she was not my Cup of tea. Favorite. I wasn't vibing with her.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I was vibing with her the least out of everyone in the intro package.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, the girls are introduced first. Anaya is 23 and she's from Georgia. She works as a marketing director for her family's nonprofit organization.

Speaker 2:

Anaya, I really liked her. Yeah. Right off the bat, I thought she had a really lovely vibe. I was like, okay, this girl, I'll probably like. Please don't disappoint me though.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm. So, yeah, I really liked her.

Speaker 1:

Okay. Yeah. I actually had a very similar reaction with Kenzie. I she kind of reminded me a little bit of Taylor. Taylor?

Speaker 1:

Yeah. A little at first. And I was like, oh, is she also, did she reminded me of what's her name? DJ from Full House, but, like, more a more yeah. Modern

Speaker 2:

Candace Camera and Beret.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Just like Wow. Yeah. A more modern version. But,

Speaker 2:

like, her face

Speaker 1:

or something in her, like, smile that made me think of But I yeah. I wasn't too sure about Kenzie. I didn't wanna prejudge, but I was like, oh, I don't know. Anaya, I loved right away. Like, I wasn't a 100% sure off of the photos, you know, like, where I was looking at the photos before.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. And I didn't really have an opinion on her. But the minute that, like, I saw her, I was like, okay. I think I'm gonna really like this this girl.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm. So definitely I I didn't see any of them before, so I had no clue who was coming in. Yeah. But I really liked her.

Speaker 1:

I should mention that at one point, Kenzie says that she's been in love once, and she was very, very needy. And when she said that, I was like, oh. Okay. This is something to remember for future. Next to come in is Melanie, and she is 24 years old from Philly, but lives in LA.

Speaker 1:

And she's a manager at a bikini store.

Speaker 2:

I didn't know whether or not she would be someone that I would like in the show, obviously, just like but by first impressions, I I had a nice vibe. Like, I got a good feeling from her. Mhmm. I thought she physically is so cute. Like, I'm like, she has a really cute face.

Speaker 2:

She's she's really cute. She has this kind of bubbly positive thing that she exudes that I liked. But I don't know because sometimes people like that can be a bit of like a pot stir Yeah. Or a little bit emotional. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but, like, you know, reality TV, she might be a little bit she she'll bring out the drama.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm. And it turns out

Speaker 1:

I was kinda right about that. Yes.

Speaker 2:

I was not surprised to what ended up happening happened. Mhmm. So just based off of first impressions. But I thought she was really cute.

Speaker 3:

Mhmm.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. I actually my thoughts on Melanie at first, I didn't really have too many thoughts about her. I thought she was really cute. Like, I thought she was really beautiful. When she ends up being paired off with Sincere, I was like, they look like a couple that could potentially be a little messy.

Speaker 1:

But other than that, I didn't really have a thought about her. I thought she was cute and that's really it. So I practice as Beatrice. I was like, am I gonna I'm

Speaker 2:

just gonna call her Bea.

Speaker 1:

Beatrice comes in next. And she is 25 years old from San Diego, California. She's a two time Paralympian and bronze medalist in the long jump. She made a joke about something with a chainsaw where she's

Speaker 2:

like She did?

Speaker 1:

Yeah. She made a really funny joke about about a chainsaw and so and someone saying I'm gonna cut you to pieces and then she's like, joke's on you. I'm already in pieces. Oh, yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Okay. I think that her humor, she's the funniest person on the island. I I think she's Yeah. Super funny.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I when she came on out, I was actually I was like, woah. Okay. This girl is cool. She's an Olympian as well.

Speaker 2:

I'm like, wait, what? Yeah. I right away, I thought that she was someone that would get along well with the guys. Like, I just gives off that, like, cool cool girl Yeah. Vibe.

Speaker 2:

I actually think that out of all the islanders, she's kind of the the most the least like me. So I think that that makes her interesting. Yeah. Because yeah. There's just there there is something like, she has no filter.

Speaker 1:

Mhmm.

Speaker 2:

Like, I I just, so far, I've liked the way that she I mean, more or less, you know? Yeah. I mean, I get that sometimes It comes off who have no filter can can hurt other people. And I would probably be

Speaker 1:

hurt some of

Speaker 3:

the things that she

Speaker 1:

said. We're too sensitive.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. We're too sensitive.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. No. I totally agree. And we can go into that a little bit more, later. But next, we have Trinity.

Speaker 1:

And she is 22 years old. And she quit her job as a hardware store employee. And that's all I got from her.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I felt like they didn't really go too much in -depth with her.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. I don't know where she's from.

Speaker 2:

Where did

Speaker 1:

she say where she's I don't know. She probably did.

Speaker 2:

She probably did, but I don't remember either. I did think I was like, oh, she's really young. And and then turns she's

Speaker 3:

not she's not gonna be

Speaker 2:

the only 22 year old No. In this cast. But I I was like, wow. I I'm I was hoping. I'm like, I hope she she like is a bit more like mature than, you know, what 22 year olds typically are.

Speaker 2:

And to me, she seems quite mature

Speaker 1:

Mhmm. For her age.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm. But yeah, I I I didn't really know too much of like couldn't really get a sense of who she was because I felt like her package was a little bit more basic.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Yeah. There wasn't a lot to it. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

It was more simple.

Speaker 1:

It it was. My you know, it's interesting is when I before watching the episode, I and I was looking at, like, the the their bios and stuff. Trinity was the person that I was like, oh my god. I'm gonna love her. Like, she was the one that I was like, this one.

Speaker 1:

I thought she was so beautiful. And obviously, she is. Yeah. I think that, like, she presents herself very much like a 22 year old. Like, I I can definitely tell that she's young.

Speaker 1:

And she I think she's oh, as the episodes have gone on, she's definitely grown on me. Yeah. Same. Like, there were points where I was like, oh, I'm not too sure. Like, at first, had, like, high expectations.

Speaker 1:

And I was like, oh, okay. I might like her. I she's probably gonna be my favorite. And then I was like, oh, okay. Not really.

Speaker 1:

And then I

Speaker 2:

think it's it I think it might be because, like, yes, all of

Speaker 1:

the islanders are kind of, like, party people.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm. But maybe it just kind of felt like she would be, like, party person times, like, you know, times a 100, like Yeah. Like, not as serious about the the process. Maybe by the like, in the first episode. Mhmm.

Speaker 2:

I don't know. Maybe that's what you felt.

Speaker 1:

Mhmm. Yeah. I'm not really sure what it was. It was just something about her in that in the first episode or so. I was like, I'm not fully feeling.

Speaker 1:

But I didn't have like a a strong reaction or anything. Was just like Yeah. It's because I had such a big reaction to her when I saw her photo. I was like, I think I had an idea of what she would be and then and then it just kind of changed as like, you know, you're watching them. The boys come in, the first two that come in are Bryce and Sincere.

Speaker 1:

So Sincere is 25 years old. He's a track and field coach from New Jersey.

Speaker 2:

His intro package was really well done, I think. He came out with a really good attitude. And just overall, I was like, oh, he seems like a nice guy. I really like him.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. I felt the same way. He was raised by his grandma and his mom. And when he said that, was like, oh, that's so cute.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. That's really cute.

Speaker 1:

He was definitely one of the the main guys that I'm like, okay. I I he's like up there as like my top favorite guy in that first episode. Yeah. He seemed he seemed very sweet and, like, sincere.

Speaker 2:

Uh-huh. Yeah. I actually thought that him and Bea would would connect

Speaker 1:

more. But they didn't. Yeah. Because of the track

Speaker 2:

track and field thing.

Speaker 1:

I thought that too. And then it just never happened. So I was like, oh, okay. Yeah. We have Bryce, who is 29, one of the older ones, and he's currently living in New York City as a model.

Speaker 1:

He also does some acting and DJ stuff as well. And he also has a job as a handyman. He was kind of, like, a little vague about it. Mhmm. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. He obviously had some feelings about him working as a handyman

Speaker 2:

Uh-huh.

Speaker 1:

While in between, like, modeling gigs, which we obviously like being around actors. Know how that's we know what

Speaker 2:

that's It's hard because all you wanna do is act, but

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

You know, gigs aren't always guaranteed.

Speaker 3:

Mhmm.

Speaker 1:

What were your first impressions of Bryce?

Speaker 2:

I I liked Bryce. I was kind of a little bit unsure about him as well because he kept talking about how sensitive of a of a guy he is. Mhmm. And like, he kept harping on that and I was like, okay. Usually, he keeps saying this.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Usually, when people say that, I never never know if I should trust that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. But so far, he's proven Yeah. Like, yeah. It's true. At least so far in the first week.

Speaker 2:

I thought that he was gonna be a bit more of a potster than he seems to be.

Speaker 1:

Mhmm. He

Speaker 2:

seems to be a bit more laid back, which I I don't mind. Yeah. He also I was like, he looks like a mesh of famous people, but I can't pinpoint who it is.

Speaker 1:

You know who he looks like to me? Who? I've seen a couple people talk about, like, who he he looks like someone from Criminal Minds, but I've never watched Criminal Minds. So Yeah. Me neither.

Speaker 1:

I can't, like, I I just don't know that actor. He looks like Kim Kardashian's friend. Her one friend.

Speaker 2:

I I was yeah, I was gonna say there's something me neither. But I was like, there's, like, a Kardashian person Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. That he has a little bit of that. Uh-huh.

Speaker 2:

But I didn't know. I was like, who is that though? Because I don't watch the Kardashians enough to know these people.

Speaker 1:

I can't unsee it, to be honest. Every time I look at him, I see that guy.

Speaker 2:

But it's also like a a mesh of, like, an actor, like a famous actor

Speaker 1:

or something.

Speaker 2:

I don't know. There's someone else.

Speaker 1:

I didn't really have it was still a little, like, neutral. I wasn't really sure. It was either I was gonna like him or I wasn't gonna like him. Like, I needed to see more of Bryce. And I still kind of do because I don't he's kind of like on the like, don't really have much of an opinion on him.

Speaker 1:

I do really like that he's on the older side. Yeah. I like that. Though I will say he comes off a little younger. Like, was surprised when Yeah.

Speaker 1:

When when I when I realized he was 29, was like, oh, he he actually acts a lot younger.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I thought he might have been, like, 23, 24.

Speaker 1:

Mhmm. Something like that. Yeah. Zach. So Zach comes in next.

Speaker 1:

Following his brother's footsteps, he is 26 years old from Birmingham, England, and is a content creator.

Speaker 2:

Is is Charlie was Charlie 26 when he was on the show? I don't remember.

Speaker 1:

They're two years apart. So no.

Speaker 2:

It's funny because with Zach, was like, he looks familiar. But there's a there's a reason for me that I think he looks familiar. So yeah. So Zach looks a lot like someone me and Isabelle used to know. So when when Zach came on, was like, he looks super like this person.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm. And then he said that he was Charlie's brother. And I was like, oh, He yeah. I I see. He looks less like Charlie than the person that

Speaker 1:

we That's used to so weird. I thought that too. I was like, he looks less like Charlie and more like someone else. But I see the resemblance. Like, you know, they both have curly hairs.

Speaker 2:

Of course. Yeah. I really like him. I think he he he might be, like, in my, like, top three of the of favorite boys.

Speaker 1:

Okay. Besides the fact that he's related to Charlie, I don't really know anything else about him. Like, he Yeah. His purse I don't know too much about his personality. So it's really hard to like Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Oh, also he gets plus points because he's a cat person.

Speaker 1:

Next, have Sean and Casey, and they come in together. Sean, 29. He's a police officer and a father.

Speaker 2:

Initially, I really liked him. I I think that I he even, like, throughout the the episodes, I was like, this guy seems like a really

Speaker 1:

good guy. I really liked him too. But whenever someone is mixed Asian, I tend to, like, root for them anyway.

Speaker 2:

Oh, is he is he Blasian?

Speaker 1:

Yeah. He's Blatian. Yeah. Okay. I am I immediately was like was like, okay, rooting for you.

Speaker 1:

I've found that as the episodes have gone on, I actually enjoyed his personality more.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

I was a little bit worried about him being a father just because all these most of these people are in their early to mid twenties. And I was like, you could see it on everyone's face that the minute that he said he was a dad Yeah. All the girls were like, okay. Like And then they passed.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. They didn't wanna go after him, which is Yeah. Which is a real shame. And I know that that's something that a lot of, like, single parents go through. Seeing how he was in the villa, how he treated the girls and like, you know, he seemed and and talking to the guys, he seemed to be really, like, really genuine.

Speaker 2:

I mean, I don't know. I don't know if these people are putting it on for the cameras or whatever. It's very possible. But, like, at least with what he was what he was presenting to us, he seemed like a a good person.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. There were some, like, red flag things that he said during that first episode. I remember. There even, like, the the how he ended up having his his son was a little bit, like, oh, okay. Oh.

Speaker 1:

Because he was I don't know if you remember, but he was in a relationship for, like, ten years. Mhmm. And then they broke up and he went on a, what he called a monster streak with the dating apps Oh. And got someone pregnant. And that's how

Speaker 2:

Oh, okay. I must have missed that because

Speaker 1:

Yeah. It was so it wasn't with the the person

Speaker 2:

that he was with for ten years? No. Okay. Because I thought it was that but No.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. It's a little I I when he said that, was like, oh, okay. Like, that's a little but but after a while, you know, you kinda start to forget those little things and then you see the way that they act and they the way that they behave on in the villa and then you're like, okay, you know, they're actually very sweet. Let's move on to Casey. Casey is 23.

Speaker 1:

He's a nursing assistant and he lives in Fresno, California.

Speaker 2:

With Casey, I thought that he was gonna be someone who might like cause some trouble in the villa. But that hasn't been the case. Like, I feel like I he came off more like a troublemaker in his intro package to me Yeah. Than than he ended up being. Like, I actually really like Casey so far.

Speaker 1:

In general, I really liked him. Like, I there was nothing about him that I was I don't know. I that there was nothing about him that made me feel like he was gonna, I don't know

Speaker 2:

Have red flags?

Speaker 1:

Cause drama or yeah. Yeah. Like I I didn't really see anything that that caused red flags to go up. Afterwards when they all, you know, Ariana comes in and all that, they play a compatibility game. There are these giant doors, which they repurposed from, like, the last season.

Speaker 1:

I was like, hey, this is steam though.

Speaker 2:

I liked I liked that they did this. Yeah. Because I I feel like it's not really fair to just pick someone based off of, like, physical attraction because Mhmm. You know, I know that that's maybe the fun of it. But, I mean, for me personally, I I like that they had this compatibility thing.

Speaker 1:

So the compatibility game begins with these giant doors, and Ariana will ask them a series of questions. The giant doors in front of them represents an answer and they have to step behind the door that represents the answer they choose. Then the doors open to reveal a match And if they match with an islander or more, they'll have to share a hot steamy kiss. That's what she said. I would never say that myself.

Speaker 2:

I'm too much of a prude for this.

Speaker 1:

That's exactly what went on in my head. My first thoughts on the game was really, I was like, okay, this is this will be fun. Just trying to get to know them and stuff, but I really didn't like I mean, this it's the name of the game with Love Island, especially The US version. But I I didn't like that the first question was, like, a sex position question.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Like, why like so it's like, you start off you start off this, like, game, this compatibility game with a question like that. I'm like, okay.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Yeah. I I thought that too, but I know that that's just part of this show. So I'm like, whatever.

Speaker 1:

Really is. I'm like, oh, God. Okay. Like, first question right off the bat is is something sexual. Mhmm.

Speaker 1:

So after the next questions were, what type of person are you? A dog person, a cat person, or a plant person? Casey. Poor Casey. Was Why did

Speaker 2:

you choose plant? Like, I get it if you're not a pet person, but, like, don't

Speaker 3:

why would you choose the one that obviously no one was gonna be behind?

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Yeah. I did feel bad for him because he really, like

Speaker 2:

I think it was embarrassing.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. It was it was actually really his reaction was really cute. Uh-huh. I I felt bad.

Speaker 2:

That's not embarrassing. Like, I get what he was trying to do. He was trying to be, like, different. But yeah, it it I was like, oh, he really didn't have to be

Speaker 1:

embarrassed about that. If I were on the show and I were single, if someone put plant if they they stepped on the the plant door, I would be like, I'm sorry. No. Yeah, I know. Probably It's feel either dog or cat.

Speaker 1:

So the first three coupling is Bryce and Trinity, and then it's Sean and Bea, and then Casey. And at first, was no one. Uh-huh. So he's alone and that honestly, I felt so my heart hurt watching his face. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

So next it was Sincere and Melanie, and then it's Zach and Kenzie. When the door opens, I could just see, like, Zach's face. He was like, oh, no. Like, I don't know if you noticed that, but he was like, okay.

Speaker 2:

But I I could feel right away. I'm like, this is not gonna work out.

Speaker 1:

He's not into And

Speaker 2:

I don't really know if she was that into him either. I Yeah. Me too. Honestly, with Kenzie, I was like, she she's gonna wanna go after Bryce. That was that was my knee jerk reaction, but then she was, like, turned off by the way he kissed, which by the way is so it is so mean because, like Yeah.

Speaker 2:

There's a fluff in front of me. It's go away. It's mean because, like, it has a lot to do with chemistry. And it's possible that, like, she was really into it, and he's not, like, maybe physically attracted to her. So he was, like, pulling back.

Speaker 2:

And so he was just kinda going through, like, autopilot, whereas she was, like, super into it.

Speaker 1:

And then and then she was just turned off by the way he kissed or something.

Speaker 2:

So yeah. But I I thought I was like, if she could, she she would have coupled

Speaker 1:

up with Bryce. Basically, by default, Casey and Anaya end up being paired off together. Mhmm. Which I thought was the perfect

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Coupling. The it was the universe trying to get them together. Yeah. Bryce and Trinity was actually a really big surprise to me.

Speaker 1:

Mhmm. Yeah. Me too. I wasn't expecting them.

Speaker 2:

Also, like, because they have like, it's not a a big age gap. But, like, you know, a a 22 year old and a 29 year old, you're in kind of different stages in your life.

Speaker 1:

Mhmm. I don't know if she, like, realized his age until later.

Speaker 2:

No. I don't think so.

Speaker 1:

I don't think Trinity and Bryce are gonna last. They're gonna find other people or get kicked off and

Speaker 2:

No. I also felt that Sincere and Melanie were not gonna last. Like, right away I was like, Bryce and Trinity, Zach and Kenzie, and Sincere and Melanie.

Speaker 1:

Mhmm.

Speaker 2:

I was iffy. I was I was Sincere and Melanie, was kind of on the fence of because I I think that they have a really like, initially, they had a really strong thing. But the second that they showed a clip of Kenzie saying that I think it was Kenzie, saying that Melanie and Sincere are the strongest couple, I was like, oh, it's over.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. I know. It's over. Whenever Islanders talk about someone being like the one couple being the power couple, I always know, okay, something's gonna happen or whatever. You need to, like, watch out for those couples.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Ed Ed the editors were trying to tell us something. So I was like, okay. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And then Casey and Anaya, I'm like, they are so cute. I know that they're basically a forced couple, like a default couple. I was like, I really like them. Like both of them and I like

Speaker 2:

them They've had some really cute conversations that I'm like, this could work. If they both stay true to this couple, then they could definitely last a while outside of outside of the show.

Speaker 1:

Yes. Yeah. I agree. Okay.

Speaker 2:

Oh. Yeah. In in true Love Island fashion, you should never really like a couple because you always mess it up.

Speaker 1:

Something that could potentially happen is, you know, when Casa, when they do Casa, like something could happen with that couple as well. Like I never, I'm never fully comfortable with a couple. Always kind

Speaker 2:

of go, okay, like them. Like people together because something is going to happen.

Speaker 1:

Ariana arrives and the doors are back. This time, they're choosing if they want to stay in their current couple or explore a different connection. Each islander steps on either a red dot, which means you want to explore other connections or a green dot, which means you want to stay in your current connection. Quickly, the answers for all like who stood on what dot so that we remember. Bea chooses the red dot and Sean chooses green.

Speaker 1:

Zach chooses red and Kenzie chooses green. Both Trinity and Bryce choose red And both Anaya and Casey choose green, which I thought was so cute. I was like, oh. And then Melanie and Sincere choose green as well. To which point, two new bombshells enter the villa.

Speaker 1:

Gabriel and Keita. Gabriel was is from Brazil. And then Keita is 22 and she's from New Hampshire. I thought she was super pretty. Like, I'm have change the situation.

Speaker 1:

Was like, that girl is so pretty.

Speaker 2:

I also thought with with Gabrielle that he I was like, oh, this is game over to anyone who's, like, in a couple right now that's that's gonna that that, like, went on on red. Because I also thought it was like, he's

Speaker 1:

a really good looking guy.

Speaker 2:

Knowing these girls, they're going to drool all over this guy.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Yeah. Then the bombshells come and they're like they just decide they just they're like, okay, go ahead and just make out, you know, the usual Love Island. They're like making out with the the people Oh, that stood on

Speaker 2:

I was so grossed out with with Gabrielle and and Bea. Like, I even wrote in

Speaker 1:

my notes, was there a fish somewhere? Because it was just so gross. Wait. What? Like the smacking?

Speaker 2:

Like, yeah. This sounds was

Speaker 1:

like, is there a fish? Ew. So once they finish making out with all the islanders that stepped on red, they just whisk them away and that's the end of episode one. Okay. So episode two is the aftermath of the bombshells coming in.

Speaker 1:

The remaining islanders having to open the doors and see if their person is still on the other side or not.

Speaker 2:

I wrote down in my notes that the girls are being way too harsh on Zach for Oh, not staying with Kenzie. But I'm like, it's day one though. Like, why are you giving this guy such a hard time? And it and it kinda worked out in the end because I actually think that him and Keita are very cute together. Will it last?

Speaker 2:

I mean, I don't know. I I kind of hope so because I think that they're they're very sweet. But I mean, it's Love Island that these people will never really stick with the first person that they're with. Yeah. So but yeah, I I do hope that it does last because I think that they're very cute.

Speaker 2:

But Yeah. Yeah. I obviously prefer him with Keita. And actually, Keita, the way that she was she was with like, how she was with the boys when they were staying overnight at that Mhmm. Whatever it was.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I I liked that she was giving both the the guys, both both Zach and Bryce attention, like talking to them, getting to know them, and actually talking to them. And then Gabriela was like, are you serious? Like, I was really annoyed with the fact that he I know this is a little violent, but I was just I was like, can you just have a conversation with these people? You know?

Speaker 2:

Yeah. He was like trying to like flirt them up really hard. It was

Speaker 1:

And I was I got the

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I got the ick too. I was like, you are trying really hard. And and I have to say I did not like him

Speaker 1:

at Me too. Like, first impressions were very bad with Gabrielle. I was like, ugh.

Speaker 2:

Because like at least Kaida was like giving Bryce a chance, you know? Whereas with Gabrielle, was more player vibes. And I I guess it's kind of something that happens naturally when you're being told that you are a bombshell, so you have to, like, shake things up.

Speaker 1:

I thought I was like, Okay, he's here with an agenda. And I was like, Okay. I see what you're doing, but I'm like, I immediately do not like how you're moving because it's coming off too He barely said full sentences with them and just made out with them. I was like, This is really weird. He's making out with Bea in front of Trinity.

Speaker 1:

I'm like,

Speaker 2:

would That's awkward. Course,

Speaker 3:

Trinity was like, Oh, okay.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it was weird. Keita, when she gave Zach a kiss when they were going to sleep or whatever.

Speaker 3:

And Bryce was like, I want in on this.

Speaker 1:

Oh my god. That was

Speaker 3:

Oh, like, that was weird. No. No.

Speaker 2:

No. No. No. You don't. No.

Speaker 2:

But I did feel bad for him because obviously he felt left out and that he wasn't

Speaker 1:

like I felt bad for him too. I was like, oh, why are you doing this to this person? Like, just like let him leave. Like, have have her choose the guy and be like, it's okay. You can go back to the villa.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. We're good. In another scene, we see Melanie asking Sincere about Keita. And this is where I start to feel like her insecurities are gonna start coming out. And I was like, Oh, okay.

Speaker 1:

She's asking too many questions about this new bombshell. Yeah. And then she mentions that she has trust issues. And I was like, Okay, yeah, this is gonna be an issue. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And I wrote here, she clearly likes him a lot more than she was expecting. After that, Gabrielle making is making out with all these girls. He barely speaks. I said he barely speaks.

Speaker 2:

That's the thing is that we don't know what he's like. Open up a little bit more. Tell us who you are besides being a hot Brazilian guy.

Speaker 1:

In the evening, they get a text that's like, Please gather around the fire pit. And then Bea, Trinity, and Gabrielle come back. And then Keita, Bryce, and Zach walk in next. And then they have to choose who they wanna couple up with, re couple up with. Gabrielle chooses to re couple with Bea, and then Keita chooses to re couple with Zack.

Speaker 1:

Making Bryce and Trinity a couple again. So we end that episode with Sean and Kensi now single and vulnerable. Moving on to episode three. In the beginning of that episode, Kensi was saying basically that she's like over Zach and just was like super angry at him. But I she just kept saying that she's over it and I'm like, usually people don't say that when they're they're over something.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Definitely I bother thought she was like, I really thought that she

Speaker 1:

was just over she was overreacting her, like, anger towards him about it. Because I'm like, it's been like a day. Right? Yeah.

Speaker 2:

So I I get it. It hurts to feel like you were rejected or to actually

Speaker 1:

to be rejected by someone that that hurts.

Speaker 2:

But it's been one day. Yeah. I don't even know if she was fully into him either.

Speaker 1:

I guess it's hard. I think Kenzie is just going to be one of those characters that will, I guess crush on people hard and quickly or just quickly and just whenever they reject her, she's just because she mentions it that she's not used to being rejected by men. So she's going to take things a certain way because she's just not used to it. Oh, and there were a few times where Zach tries to chat with Kenzie and she's just like, no. Which I mean, like, it's It's been

Speaker 2:

a day. It was a little bit too much in my opinion.

Speaker 1:

This is where Melanie's insecurities start ramping up a little bit more because Sincere pulls Keita for a chat. And I think Anaya tells her that that that's what happened, that Sincere was talking to Keita. And then they start to play that game. And there's a bunch of questions which Islander has which Islander forgot a hookup's name, blah blah blah, things And like the very last question, which was, which Islander is guilty of texting other people while they were with someone else? And that was sincere.

Speaker 1:

And like, you just see Melanie's face like she's Yeah. She's pissed. Yeah, she's not happy. So now we move on to episode four with a new challenge where we're introduced to a new bombshell. So the girls perform and dance and they choose a guy who isn't in their current couple to make out with.

Speaker 1:

They mentioned something about like an annual review. Yeah. Which I thought was triggering. Yeah, I was like, can you not? I don't wanna think of that work.

Speaker 1:

Annual reviews. Whoever they pick for their answer is the islander who will get dunked in, I guess it's slime. And then the girls go to the head office. I think that's what it what that door was. And go and kiss the new secret bombshell Corbin.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, then after they kiss Corbin, they go back outside and make out with their current couple. Oh, I will say Kenzie did a really great job during that her performance. Very clear, clearly like a dancer. You can see, obviously you can see it. She's a very good performer.

Speaker 1:

And then some drama starts happening between Melanie and Keita during this challenge. Keita's office crush is sincere. And then who needs to be promoted from their couple, she chooses sincere, which obviously upsets Melanie.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but that was only because she chose sincere or Yeah. She she chose sincere for that because Melanie had had put had slimed Keita. Right? I don't know if that

Speaker 1:

Yeah. I guess

Speaker 2:

It happens before because

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Keita was mad about Because Melanie's office crush is Casey and then Anaya is like, And then her question is who needs to be fired? And she chooses Keita. Yeah. Which is like, okay.

Speaker 1:

I think

Speaker 2:

that was such a strange choice. I'm like, why didn't you choose because she's she was his sincere.

Speaker 1:

Why are you choosing Keita?

Speaker 2:

Like, even their chat was so like, at least from what we saw, it was very tamed and just, like platonic.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it was. It was. So I was like, why

Speaker 3:

are you choosing her now? She's

Speaker 2:

Now she's gonna like go after you, which that's what ended up Exactly.

Speaker 1:

Also, Melanie says that Corbin is her type to a T. When she said that, I was like, Oh, God. Okay. This is going to be chaotic. Melanie and Keita have a good chat, guess, and they apologize.

Speaker 1:

I honestly barely remember this scene.

Speaker 2:

Me too. I was gonna say, did they apologize?

Speaker 1:

Think they did. Wrote it down, but I wrote it down.

Speaker 2:

There's so much that happens in the show. Know. A lot of reality TV.

Speaker 1:

I'm glad I made notes because I barely remember what happened in yesterday's episode. So Corbin is 22. He's from Florida. Did you have it? What were your impressions of Corbin when you saw him?

Speaker 2:

Nothing really

Speaker 1:

or you didn't like him? I didn't like him. There's a certain vibe that he has. He has this young player vibe that I'm like,

Speaker 2:

I honestly don't really remember his intro package, but I did not like him. I thought he was trying really hard to do I don't know if he was trying to solidify his place in the villa or he was trying to super bombshell it up, but it was too much. Him right away asking Keita if like, after the challenge and everything when they were all getting one on ones with him.

Speaker 1:

Mhmm. Mhmm.

Speaker 2:

Him asking Keita to kiss like right off the bat without really knowing anything about her. Yeah. I was like He's like, oh, I

Speaker 3:

need a refresher. I don't I don't really remember our kiss.

Speaker 2:

I need a refresher. I was so happy that she said no.

Speaker 1:

No. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I At least like, you you need to work for it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Because I was like, boy, bye.

Speaker 1:

I was not I did not like that. I know. I thought I thought that too. That is that's that was yesterday's episode. But even even then, I could I still had a feeling that he was like I was like, oh, I don't I don't know if I'm actually gonna like this person.

Speaker 2:

And I felt like he's

Speaker 1:

I don't know. There's just something about him.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I do think that him and Kenzie had a really nice conversation.

Speaker 1:

That was when I felt

Speaker 2:

like, okay, he let his guard down a bit and is being a bit more like a human being and not just a bombshell. So I softened on him a bit.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. At that point. I I don't think I've softened on him at all, really.

Speaker 2:

Not a huge I'm still a little bit I I'm still side eyeing him for sure.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. I but he needs a little bit more time. Yeah. But shall we talk about what happened with Bea and Oh yes. Melanie?

Speaker 1:

All the girls are chatting with Corbin and Melanie asks to chat with him first and she's blocking his view of Kenzie and Bea doesn't like that. So she confronts Melanie and basically defends Kenzie, or I guess she's just speaking for her at that point. I don't really know what Kenzie feels about that whole situation. She didn't really say.

Speaker 2:

It's hard because I feel like I probably would have been upset if someone worded it the way that Bea did.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

So I can sympathize with Melanie with how she felt about the tone. But I also think that Melanie in just one week has been doing a little too much. Yeah. Has been very The common denominator with the drama has been her. So I can't help but decide with Bea on this because it's true.

Speaker 2:

I get that sometimes you don't realize when you're doing something and you need someone to remind you gently, Hey, when someone's talking to you or when you're talking to someone, just

Speaker 1:

make sure that everyone feels included. Yeah. I think I was completely on Bea's side. Guess it was her execution because some people will not take that very well. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And they do touch on it like in the next episode and they mention that it can come off a certain way to other people, especially if you're not close to them yet or close to them at all. But in general, I actually thought that I was team Bea in that whole situation.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I just couldn't handle the, I need a 10, I need a 10 or whatever she said.

Speaker 1:

Me a 10. 10. Give

Speaker 2:

Give me 10. 10.

Speaker 1:

I were her, I probably would have cried too because I'm sensitive.

Speaker 2:

That's the thing is that it's hard because I get it. But the fact that she's been the drama

Speaker 1:

the most. She's been doing a lot this this first week. But I still want to like her.

Speaker 2:

Me too. She reminds me of Rachel Bilson.

Speaker 1:

Really? Yeah. Something about her reminds me of her. Oh, I don't get that at all, but maybe I'll just look at her a little bit more. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

But I guess this basically leads into episode five. We can just flow right into that episode. When Sincere is talking with Melanie, like trying to comfort her, I thought he was very sweet. Yeah. Was very, very cute.

Speaker 1:

And it made me like him even more than I already did. Yeah. Corbin saying the same lines to both Kenzie and Keita. Oh, I didn't. I was like, really?

Speaker 1:

You're gonna reuse your lines for both women? Yeah. I was also really glad that Keita didn't give him the kiss that he was asking for.

Speaker 2:

I feel like he was just desperate to make waves or stay

Speaker 1:

in the villa, get a connection. Like, I don't know. It felt very desperate. Bea and Melanie chat the next morning. So Bea stands on what she said, but she said she could have worded it differently.

Speaker 1:

Bea opens up and says something about her parents talking about her like being vulnerable. So she talks about, she says something along the lines of her parents saying, Don't let anyone see you cry, or they'll hold it against you. I think her mom said that. Her dad would say, Don't cry unless you're physically hurt, or something along those lines. It's like a it is.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. -Don't cry unless you really have to, or else people will hold it against you, or don't cry unless if you're physically hurt. Which I could You could totally see that with Bea. You can see that she grew up in an environment where she was told, don't cry. Like, you have to be tough, like, that type of stuff.

Speaker 1:

How did you feel about the whole chat with with Bea and Melanie? Like, did you

Speaker 2:

I thought it was good. I think I I think both of them were very open to accepting like each other's apology or like Mhmm. Just they were both receptive to each other which was nice. Yeah. I'm glad it didn't drag out for longer than it did because I probably would have been really annoyed.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm. I I think I think Bea talking about femininity and how she doesn't fit necessarily fit society's idea of femininity, I think was a really nice conversation between the two of them. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And I I like that Melanie was, like, hyping her up. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

She was like, good conversation.

Speaker 1:

Mhmm. Me me too.

Speaker 2:

I did really like Casey and Anaya's conversation.

Speaker 1:

Mhmm. Yeah. Me too.

Speaker 2:

I think right before the re coupling,

Speaker 1:

they had that heart to heart. Yeah. I thought that was

Speaker 2:

really It was so sweet. Very It sweet.

Speaker 1:

Was so cute. Even more of a reason to root for them, honestly. But Yeah. A part of me is also like, is this a setup for us to get our, I don't know, to feel attached and to this then Casa happens and then the stuff goes down. Okay, so do you want to jump into the re coupling?

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Before the re coupling happens, Corbin gets a text and it says, At tonight's recoupling, you'll get to pick the girl you want to couple up with first. And at that point I was like, No, Sean.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Well, I did think I was like the possibility of Trinity picking Sean was there. So it was either Sean or Bryce.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Yeah. I was definitely Between the two of them, was like, I would prefer Bryce to go?

Speaker 2:

To go, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Rather than Sean because I did want to see more of Sean. They gave him so much airtime. They did. Think they were probably maybe expecting him to stay a little longer.

Speaker 2:

I don't know. Yeah, probably. Probably.

Speaker 1:

Ariana Maddox comes in and I wrote in my notes that she's looking like Mystique from X Men. That's what I thought. It's one of those outfits where you're like, you either look good wearing or

Speaker 2:

you look really weird wearing. It's a weird outfit. I did not like that outfit, but she did look like Mystique.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. The boys come up to the front, they're all looking very nervous. Ariana says that she forgot to tell them that Corbin gets to choose first. Corbin ends up picking Kenzie. Anaya picks Casey and I thought that what she said was very cute.

Speaker 1:

Melanie picks Sincere. Keita picks Zach and Bea picks Gabrielle. Trinity is the last one and she ends up picking Bryce. But the way that she worded her speech

Speaker 2:

sounded like she was going to pick Sean.

Speaker 1:

I thought that too. Was like,

Speaker 3:

Is she going to switch it?

Speaker 1:

Yeah. I know. I was a little hopeful, but I feel like they did that on purpose. Yeah. Definitely there was some Either some producers told her to keep it vague or maybe there was some editing just to try to make it seem a certain way.

Speaker 1:

Basically that leaves Sean. He is unfortunately dumped, which is sad.

Speaker 2:

I was actually a little choked up seeing them say goodbye to him, which I feel like doesn't really happen with these Whenever I've watched Love Island, especially week one, I don't feel any type of way about the person the first person leaving.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Know. Yeah. This one was sad. I felt sad for him because I feel like he really deserved it.

Speaker 2:

He didn't really get a chance.

Speaker 1:

No, he did not get a chance. There was a point where he says something super cute where he talks about his son and he says baby boy has some aunt and uncles to meet, which I thought was was so so cute. And Yeah, that's basically it. He and Kenzie chat and that's all. It's honestly so unfortunate.

Speaker 1:

I was hoping that it wouldn't be him, but also not surprised it was him. Yeah, same. That's basically it for week one. So far, a good week one. Tend to not like the first week of Love Island.

Speaker 1:

I actually get really bored.

Speaker 2:

Really? Okay. Don't tend to get bored on the first week. But the some of the episodes in the middle, I'm kinda like, okay.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Like, let's let's move on.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. I've I've felt that the most interesting episodes were the ones, the the first one and then the last two. Sections of the last two. But Yeah. Yeah, I'm pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this first episode or this Yeah.

Speaker 1:

This first week.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Besides, we get three new bombshells this week and I feel like Kenzie is going to really like the guy.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Me too. But I feel like Southern. She's very much.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. But he's like specifically like a white southern

Speaker 1:

guy,

Speaker 2:

which is her, but a guy.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. In terms of the best couple of the week, for me it's going to Casey and Anaya. Yeah. They're definitely my favorite couple.

Speaker 2:

I agree. And then it's Sag and Keita.

Speaker 1:

I think my favorite boy is between Sincere and Casey.

Speaker 2:

I feel like I still need to see a bit more from Casey. Yeah. I still need to see a little bit more.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. But so far, I would say a little bit more Sincere than Casey for now, but we'll see. Then my favorite girl is Anaya.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I do think that Zach and Bryce's bromance is cute. But I do really like Anaya. Anaya, Bea, and Keita. Lots of us.

Speaker 1:
