One Gospel Minute

Christians belong to two kingdoms, an earthly kingdom and the heavenly kingdom. Earthly laws, divinely ordained, must be followed. The heavenly kingdom, foreseen in prophecy and realized on Pentecost Day, grants eternal citizenship to those baptized under the Gospel of Christ. Are you a citizen of the heavenly Kingdom?

David Hill: [00:00:00] Ever known anyone who held dual citizenship? A citizen in two countries. Hi, David Hill. Got a minute? The Christian holds dual citizenship in two kingdoms: an earthly kingdom and the heavenly kingdom. Earthly government was designed by God. He raises up and tears down whom he chooses (Daniel 4:17) and says earthly rulers are His ministers (Romans 13:4). A Christian is to be a legal citizen here on earth, that's right, obeying the laws of the land. God established a heavenly kingdom. It was referenced in prophecy (Daniel 2:44), and Jesus said some alive then would see the kingdom come with power (Mark 9:1) —and they did on Pentecost Day, in Acts 2. You see that the church and the kingdom are the same (Matthew 16:18-19). And when those on the day of Pentecost obeyed the gospel of Christ, washing their sins away in baptism, Jesus made them citizens of the heavenly kingdom [00:01:00] (Acts 2:47). The very same thing He does today. Are you a citizen of the heavenly kingdom? Dual citizenship while here on earth, but the saved have an eternal citizenship in heaven. That's good news.
