Disc Two: A Marvel Podcast

The last thing we recorded was episode two of She-Hulk. Then we just stopped. No farewell episode, no explanation.

So this is a hello. No rundown, no clips, just us catching up on what happened, what Marvel did while we were gone, and why we're back now. It's more of what we always did. Relaxed conversation and constant silliness. One of us explains why Loki is Lord of the Rings and WandaVision is Harry Potter. Our friends from before can likely guess who it was.

Ten episodes are coming. We go back through our old episodes and face what we got right and what we got very wrong. This one comes first.

What is Disc Two: A Marvel Podcast?

We discuss Marvel news, movies, shows, comics, and everything in between. We provide fan commentary and are not affiliated with Marvel Studios or The Walt Disney Company.

JORDAN: Welcome back to .. NOT the Marvel Guys, to Disc Two, a Marvel Podcast with Jordan and, for the first time ever, on my right,

SPENCER: Oh, doing pretty good man.

JORDAN: my co-host Spencer. Spencer, how are we doing?

SPENCER: I didn't even realize that. Yeah, I used to be on your left.

JORDAN: Always.

SPENCER: That's crazy.

JORDAN: And we didn't even know it.

SPENCER: New setup. Yeah, new setup.

JORDAN: We did.

SPENCER: It was not planned that way either.

JORDAN: No.

SPENCER: That was just a weird happenstance.

JORDAN: It was kind of coincidental.

SPENCER: I remember that now. That's crazy. Yeah.

JORDAN: And I was always like, how do I start? Everybody, every podcast you listen to, is like a really cool start. Like, how can I be, how can I be different? And I was like, what, what is something I notice?

SPENCER: Yeah.

JORDAN: And you were just always on the left.

SPENCER: On the left, yeah, and it fit perfectly.

JORDAN: Yeah, it, it worked out quite well.

SPENCER: With, yeah. Yeah.

JORDAN: This is not the Marvel Guys podcast. The Marvel Guys podcast has retired. This is Disc Two, where we're going to be talking a lot about Marvel's past, present and future.

SPENCER: Yeah, I think so.

JORDAN: And we have a 10 episode saga, I suppose, for you guys to hear. This is episode zero. And this is a reintroduction. This is a hello. This is a, how are you doing? And really a, maybe a journal entry.

SPENCER: It's kind of just like a catching up.

JORDAN: Yeah, I don't even know what I'm doing right now.

SPENCER: We haven't done this in so long, you know?

JORDAN: I'm just looking at ones and zeros and trying to figure out if I'm doing it correctly.

SPENCER: I know this is wild. We're in a different room. It doesn't feel the same.

JORDAN: Yeah, that's true.

SPENCER: Yeah.

JORDAN: We're in like a, we don't really have a studio necessarily, but like it's a different

SPENCER: Yeah. For sure.

JORDAN: studio and life markers have changed.

SPENCER: Mm hmm.

JORDAN: The last episode we did was episode two of She-Hulk.

SPENCER: That was a long time.

JORDAN: So if that can put it in perspective. Yeah, that was before a lot of things.

SPENCER: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

JORDAN: So that's where we, that's where we ended up. And to be honest with you, I don't know what preceded not continuing, but I remember that at the time we had a lot of things going on in our lives and getting a full episode out meant a lot of work.

SPENCER: Yes.

JORDAN: Um, a lot of intensive, like double checking and just making sure everything was perfect. And then I had no clue what I was doing from the editing side. So it took a lot out of me. Uh, but we always had fun with it.

SPENCER: Really good memories. That's what I kind of remember the most about, like, right when we stopped doing it.

JORDAN: We always had a good time. Uh, I'll never forget coming back from Spider-Man and No Way Home. It was like two in the morning. Maybe it might have been later. We're like, we got to do a podcast right now.

SPENCER: It kind of all kind of felt more like a chore at times, like watching each episode or watching

JORDAN: Fantastic. Great.

SPENCER: each thing that came out and then setting up the pod and then, you know, for you like editing and everything in post, it all kind of felt like a chore. But doing this part of it was always the fun part, of course, because that's naturally just how it goes. We're just two friends talking and having fun with stuff that we enjoy, which you can

JORDAN: Oh, how many times over the years were we just like, this is a great podcast topic.

SPENCER: do that all day. But oh my gosh. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh my gosh. I mean, it's like probably our whole life, right?

JORDAN: I'm sure a lot of people. Yeah.

SPENCER: Like, since we've been close friends is, which is kind of wild to think of like how long that's been.

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: But like, yeah, it's pretty much been the whole time we've been doing a podcast.

JORDAN: Yeah, this would be a great topic.

SPENCER: We just didn't have mics.

JORDAN: This would be a great episode.

SPENCER: Yeah.

JORDAN: We should wait.

SPENCER: Yeah.

JORDAN: Don't talk about that.

SPENCER: Yeah.

JORDAN: Let's talk about it on the podcast.

SPENCER: Yeah.

JORDAN: But if we didn't have the podcast at the time, it just felt like, maybe we'll get to it one

SPENCER: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

JORDAN: day. And, well, that day is today. So we are back for a 10 episode saga special run.

SPENCER: Yeah.

JORDAN: And then we'll kind of see what happens. I guess we're Tarantino-ing it. We're giving you 10. We're giving you 10. And everybody who was with us before, if you're seeing that notification on your phone that

SPENCER: Yeah. Yeah. mascot

JORDAN: there's a new episode, yes, this is really us. This is a new episode. I think I sent you at some point, so there's a Reddit post that's like, where did the Marvel Guys podcast go? And I was like, whoa, that's cool that somebody, I would be wondering that too. We didn't have like a farewell episode. It was just like, oh no.

SPENCER: weird

JORDAN: And then I just, I've paid for the podcast all these years to stay online.

SPENCER: process.

JORDAN: But it was, you know, it's cheap. It was like $10 a year. And to be live, it was more expensive. So I took off that. We weren't making new stuff. But I always knew I wanted to keep it online because at minimum I wanted to go back and listen to it. And at best I was like, maybe there's a day where I'll have time. I'll have the excitement that Marvel will prove itself worthy to be covered in this

SPENCER: Mm-hmm.

JORDAN: manner. And I don't know, I feel like that time is here.

SPENCER: I think so too. I think things have kind of taken a turn. I mean I I guess that's part of the like how you started that off I think is kind of like Shocking for me still like That there is a reddit post of like where where did the Marvel Guys podcast go? Like that's kind of crazy to think about because yeah, I mean you think about it We were just like two friends sitting talking about this stuff for years and we just get some mics and There's lots of people that were like yeah, this is this is who we listen to now and whatnot and it's crazy to think of like all the predictions and stuff that

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: We made that were wild and out of control and really off and insane, but also ones that were actually like somewhat accurate and

JORDAN: Well, the reality is you can't be like, even if, let's say we had 80% of our predictions right at the time of recording, five years in the future.

SPENCER: Mm-hmm

JORDAN: There's been a hundred, if not thousands of ideas that were at one point considered to be like greenlit that they moved off of.

SPENCER: Mm-hmm

JORDAN: So there's like, it's like a comic book. It's just a never ending possibilities of change.

SPENCER: Yeah, I mean in that writing process. Yeah, it's like a

JORDAN: And so.

SPENCER: Things get scrapped things get replaced it's kind of like writing a song You know you change words in a verse or something like that because it flows a little better You know you have the same stuff going on with

JORDAN: It'll be fun to go back in time.

SPENCER: You know writing these movies so Yeah You

JORDAN: And that's what this, these 10 episodes are. It is ironic that, you know, the bulk of our podcast was in 2021. And of course, Avengers Endgame was five years in the future. And in a way, we are five years in the future coming to you. And we're going to go back in time. It's our time to travel backwards. And we have a bunch of clips from our original run.

SPENCER: Wow that's crazy. Yeah

JORDAN: What is it? 74 episodes somewhere around there. And a lot of things were said. A lot of things were right.

SPENCER: Yeah

JORDAN: A lot of things were wrong. And it's going to be fun to listen to those and react and see the changes that have been made. And the new stuff that's coming in that we were just dreaming about at the time. I mean, imagine Fantastic Four. Imagine X-Men coming to the MCU. Wouldn't that be amazing?

SPENCER: And now reality yeah

JORDAN: And oh, we're, we're in it. We're here.

SPENCER: And

JORDAN: We have the X-Men officially, not only in the MCU, but appearing in movies.

SPENCER: I mean, you know, that's one of the cool things too is like we would talk about castings and

JORDAN: This whole thing is exciting.

SPENCER: Stuff like that all the time like okay. Well and even this is there's stuff like this That's not even documented on podcast, but we would just talk about this in general like oh if you're Rebooting the X-Men today. Who would you cast is this or that you know? And how about S. A. D. Sink wasn't think yeah

JORDAN: And that's it. So here's the version of what was shown here.

SPENCER: Right and you know what's her name that's been cast is

JORDAN: Buying her first computer.

SPENCER: Rogue she wasn't even I think she was probably doing twitch streaming maybe at the time right maybe Right, right, right, right and now you know obsessions blown up and she's a huge name now and

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: That's that's gets crazy We would have never been able to predict that that's for sure

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: Yeah, things

JORDAN: Casting five years in the future is something we should maybe never do.

SPENCER: Never ever do yeah, oh

JORDAN: I guess it did become like the X-Men and Fantastic Four. I think Fantastic Four came a lot faster than I expected. I mean, I didn't come in this quick.

SPENCER: I mean, I think so yeah, I think so yeah, absolutely

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: Because it seems like we were talking about that yeah like 2022 2023 probably and and then What that movie came out what last year so I mean that's a pretty quick turnaround It just seems like when you're in it, you know the year's kind of You know it took a little while to get there. I guess is what I'm saying, but

JORDAN: I wonder if they fast-tracked it due to Doomsday and all that too, because you really couldn't do a Doom film without a Fantastic Four film.

SPENCER: Yeah, probably and also I mean I think the plans kind of changed right like We've with with Kang and doom and all of that kind of you know Every all of that being up in the air and then they probably had to I mean we kind of talked about that earlier with like the the movies and like scripts and

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: Predictions and stuff like that like and at some point maybe one of our predictions that was wildly wrong Was actually maybe on their board And it just got scrapped and then they just were like hey, that's actually simple by this, you know

JORDAN: Yeah. One of your best predictions was one that we thought was wrong, you know? And so we'll get into those. It's going to be a lot of fun because there was times where we're going,

SPENCER: Yeah

JORDAN: this has to be it. This is it. This is the thing. This is what's happening and they just didn't pay it off.

SPENCER: You

JORDAN: Little did we know in the future there would be additional, you know, series and movies where it would come to fruition and here we are. And I guess my first thought, question, you know, as a host kind of comes naturally, more than speculator, honestly, is what was the show? Because I think the shows is where we really had the most fun, really diving into storylines.

SPENCER: Yeah, yeah

JORDAN: What was the show that you had the most fun talking about?

SPENCER: I

SPENCER: Man that's actually kind of a tough one I feel like so I guess I have two answers. I think The show I enjoyed talking about the most was probably Loki But I think the the one that I enjoyed the most was probably WandaVision

SPENCER: And I think that's that way because WandaVision was just so unique. It was the first one

JORDAN: That's true.

SPENCER: So, you know when you talk about like speculation and speculative brain, you know It's like going all over the place So when we were talking about it, we had all these insane predictions and all these insane things that we thought would happen And it's like no, well, we're actually reeling it back in actually

JORDAN: We didn't even know what a television series would be in the MCU.

SPENCER: No, no no one did so

JORDAN: We didn't have any except for like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and that was so like, like specific episodes were canon and like other stuff wasn't so.

SPENCER: Right and then you have the you know the Evan Peters cameo in that show which like just furthered, you know

JORDAN: Classic.

SPENCER: blew your brains and drove you crazy

JORDAN: Turoview Crazy.

SPENCER: So like talking about it probably not but uh, you know talking about Loki like I think that was probably the most fun I think we've had just because of You know what it all set up for where we're at now, right?

JORDAN: Yeah, not coincidentally Loki was when we had our biggest fun in terms of fan reaction to a lot of that.

SPENCER: Right right well, I think Well, I mean there I think it's justified in the writing and all that I think it is still I think it probably still holds up as you know, maybe the best show that they've done If it's not it's like 1b1a1b maybe WandaVision Loki, but

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: Yeah

JORDAN: You want to know what's funny is that I'm the exact opposite of you,

SPENCER: Yeah

JORDAN: but like right on the same track in that I think Loki was the best show. And I had the most fun with WandaVision.

SPENCER: Yeah

JORDAN: WandaVision was. It's that album that your favorite artists releases and you're like, Oh, they went there. They tried that. Let's see how it goes. And it turns out to be incredible, but just like innovative in a way you never thought possible.

SPENCER: Yeah

JORDAN: And I remember that there's one of the best trailers ever in the MCU was the one that WandaVision trailer where we're like, wait, what? How do you? What does that mean? And I remember the first two weeks when they were black and white episodes, a lot of people jumped off that train because they were like, this is boring.

SPENCER: Mmm

JORDAN: This is slow. But in a, here's, here's a very simple way that don't take additional context out of this.

SPENCER: You

JORDAN: But in a way Loki was Lord of the Rings and WandaVision was Harry Potter. I got to watch these kids grow up and there's nothing you can do in a movie to replicate that bond with WandaVision.

SPENCER: Mm-hmm

JORDAN: You started from this just a zero and you ended up at a hundred in the storyline and Loki was just excellent writing of Lord of the Rings.

SPENCER: It

JORDAN: Excellent casting. The actors were fantastic. We had a bigger picture too because we thought this is really going to be the introduction to Kang the Conqueror. We were entering the multiverse and we're like, well, how is this going to work? And Loki literally gave us the map for it in the TVA has actually, you know, appeared in some more places. So I think Loki was the best written show. It was the most like interesting show to consume. But the theory crafting with WandaVision, the ideas that were just flying through our brains.

SPENCER: You

JORDAN: That was such a unique show. And I don't know that we'll ever be able to recapture that specific experience.

SPENCER: It was just so memable at the time because it's like everything you point at is like oh is this Mephisto You know like that. It's just such a wild time

JORDAN: Yeah. And why did they cast such a big actress for this woman, this neighbor, you know?

SPENCER: Yeah, yeah, yeah

JORDAN: Well, it's her story.

SPENCER: It's it's wild to think about and you know Seeing what it all set up for what what we have now what we have in the future

JORDAN: Yes.

SPENCER: You know, I think I'm I don't know I Don't know how all of this goes but I mean I kind of seem to remember that each show introduced us to basically the Young Avengers You know, I seem to remember that each show had a new person that was introduced is like Oh, this is like gonna be somebody in the Young Avengers and letting it

JORDAN: There was always a purpose.

SPENCER: Yeah, there's always a purpose. There's always like a plan B to a plan B basically like Something that's going on in the background that you're not really thinking about but it's there, you know, that's the Marvel way

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: They plant these seeds that don't mean anything at the time and then 10 years from now when all of these kids have grown up and they're Megastars because they're in this, you know, let's say two billion dollar box office hit now. It's it's kind of crazy It really is but Yeah, the shows it really is kind of like a groundbreaking thing So yeah, I think those times watching Juan Division Easily were some of the best as as a Marvel fan. I think So

JORDAN: It was so digestible.

SPENCER: Digestible and it's it's not that take away from the other ones. I think the other shows

JORDAN: Easy to watch.

SPENCER: Each show represented itself. Well, you know, and I think that's the beauty of what they're doing and what they're where they're going I think they know how they're the formula works for each character and you know, a lot of people didn't like

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: Falcon and the Winter Soldier, you know

JORDAN: It surprises me.

SPENCER: Because it's like, you know more grounded, but I mean you can't do anything spectacular with these two characters You know, you know what I mean? Like well, they're trying to figure it out, too. So that's part of their journey and

JORDAN: True. Yeah.

SPENCER: It's interesting

JORDAN: And we'll go into things. Each episode is going to dive into certain movies and TV shows and we'll talk about our feelings on them. Some sum them up. And one of those things that I'll just leave at this is the Sam Wilson that we saw in Falcon and the Winter Soldier is probably still my favorite version of him since he took over as cap. And I think that's there's a reason for that. Television shows do serve a purpose. They do have a specific amount of time allotted to carry a story forward that a movie often can't. How often do we see on Twitter at the deleted scene that everybody goes, how would you take that out?

SPENCER: Right, right

JORDAN: It's so important to the story. And it's like, well, story is not always the most important thing in a movie.

SPENCER: Yeah

JORDAN: But in television show, you have so much time to fill that story is paramount so you don't get yourself twisted. But yeah, the television shows, the thing that I don't like is that a lot of people do take this shot at Marvel that like, oh, now they've turned it around. They figured it out. The TV shows were a failure and now they're moving on to do everything correct. And the part that's annoying within that is that the TV shows I never found to be bad or disinteresting.

SPENCER: I

JORDAN: There were better ones than others. Don't get me wrong. And it's not a coincidence that we stopped on She-Hulk. It was an okay show, but it didn't inspire me.

SPENCER: Yeah, no

JORDAN: It wasn't exciting. And it didn't really progress the storyline forward much. So to me, they each show represented an opportunity for somebody to fall in love with the MCU. And I'll bet you there's a ton of people that fell in love because of She-Hulk and because of Ironheart and because of all these television shows that may not have been everybody's favorite. But like it served a purpose. And a lot of people were not happy that major things were happening in TV series that they felt now that I have to watch. You know, deaths in a TV show like Secret Invasion where there was a big one, people were not happy.

SPENCER: Yeah

JORDAN: And I get that, but man, it's not like Marvel just completely screwed everything up and now they're figuring it out. They went quality after quantity for a little bit, but it's not, let's not pretend like it was just bad.

SPENCER: No

JORDAN: They were not to their level.

SPENCER: No, and I think you know, I Kind of equate it to two things I mean, obviously the easiest answer and it's the probably the most boring answer But I mean all art is subjective, right? So, you know, there's characters Like, you know, one of my favorite Marvel characters ever is ghostwriter, right? I myself not like the biggest fan of the Nick Cage ghostwriter, but unfortunately like that's

JORDAN: Too bad.

SPENCER: Like really the only other as of right now. It's what we have, right as of now, of course, but uh, you know

SPENCER: You know, it's but those are characters that you like, right and there's Everybody kind of has that there's also the niche characters that everybody likes, you know If you're a really big fan of Marvel, you know, there are people out there that are big fans of She-Hulk because of the comics because of That and so seeing that on the you know quote-unquote big screen

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: It's uh, you know, it was a big deal and like you said, I mean, it's like Maybe we weren't inspired by the show or whatever You know, we I think we both probably had a show where we were like, yeah, this isn't like my thing like this isn't what I like, you know, but It's somebody's right and it's probably worth it

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: It's gonna be worth it in the end knowing all this backstory of these characters and like how it integrates to You know, these these scenes that they'll be in and these big movies going forward, but You know, also, I think the other point to that is Kind of looking at these TV shows and movies and stuff like that as the way they should kind of be looked at anyways Which are they are based off comic books, right? So it's literally you're picking up issues of comic books, you know, like you're

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: Reading a new issue of She-Hulk basically each time you watch each episode or you're watching The newest season of Daredevil and it's a different writer or something So you're grabbing the new issue of Daredevil off the shelves, you know, it's it's it's the same thing for me like and

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: Once again, people are gonna kind of gravitate to what they like anyways So, you know, it's like we've talked about for a number of years now Like anything spider-man related is just gonna blow up because he's the biggest character that they have so you know

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: And then somebody maybe like a Ghost Rider might not be, you know at the forefront of what the You know people in Disney want to do at the moment, you know, because well a little bit more niche, I guess or Different audience different crowd. How's this gonna do? What's the budget gonna look like all these things? So Yeah

JORDAN: Yeah. What were you Thoughts we were just talking about this. Spider-Man, we're at the point where Spider-Man is matching with a couple help helpers, matching Avengers movies with the box office.

SPENCER: Well, I think it's I think we're to a point where

JORDAN: Is that you see something there to point out or is that just that's where we're at with this Spider-Man?

SPENCER: Movies are well done movies, you know, people still go to movies and then do all this we know this just based off the numbers, right?

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: But it's also like Movies have kind of also become just a thing to do with kids, you know If you have kids they want to go see the new spider-man movie a spin well Well, what do we you know, but we were just saying like spider-man is easily the character that they have that is the most marketable to pretty much everybody

JORDAN: Yeah. No contest.

SPENCER: you know like People that are in their 30s and 40s, you know Probably remember like when the first spider-man with Tobey Maguire came out and how groundbreaking that was and like how awesome that was and

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: you know people that were teenagers then probably now have kids that are You know experiencing the Tom Holland movies for the first time and that's their spider-man, you know

JORDAN: Yeah. Spider-Man was my first superhero movie and my first superhero video game.

SPENCER: Yeah, see so it's like that's their that's their thing which is also It is kind of a devil's advocate kind of thing though because if you really look at like I think the numbers and I Don't quote me on this but Hulk I think is like the next in line

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: But there's really not a lot of Hulk stuff out there, which is kind of funny to think about but yeah spider-man is

JORDAN: Yeah. Yeah.

SPENCER: When it comes to the numbers and box office stuff with spider-man, I think it's just the movies have pretty much always been well done and They've always got the casting right I think all three spider-man are fantastic and they represent the character very well in their own unique ways And like I said, you know you have generations of kids that grew up with different ones and But it's a evergreen kind of character, you know

JORDAN: Yeah, you have to.

SPENCER: we're gonna have a new spider-man in 20 years and They're still gonna be pumping out movies and it's still gonna be great and

JORDAN: Yeah, have you seen the contract details for Sony?

SPENCER: It's still gonna be breaking records at box office. So I

SPENCER: Have not

JORDAN: They're required to make a new Spider-Man movie. I can't remember the exact years, but it's somewhere around every like four years. Like they're contractually obligated or else they lose the character rights to Marvel.

SPENCER: That's kind of scary

JORDAN: So Sony will just make them forever and ever and ever and ever and ever because they're

SPENCER: It's kind of scary though, right like you kind of hope that like you know

JORDAN: literally required to or they'll lose the character.

SPENCER: Because one of the things that I thought about in the past has been like how

JORDAN: Sure.

SPENCER: Not saying that movies should be bar for bar what comics are but it's kind of hilarious to think that like Comics nowadays are extremely well-written And a lot of the writers that are out now are either severely underrated or

JORDAN: Right.

SPENCER: Regarded very highly has very good writers But it's also kind of funny to me that like they're not writing the movies at all like they're not even Probably in the room to be hired to write a movie for said character

SPENCER: So it's kind of an interesting thing So it's kind of an interesting thing when you're making a contract of like yeah, you got to pump one out every four years

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: It's like That kind of gets a little scary at times to me because it's like kind of like the GTA 6 thing right like Would you rather it be pushed back or delayed a little bit more so that you know when the game drops? it's perfect or You know suffer through the first several months of it being Pretty trashy and glitchy and then the hopes for the update that's coming down the road You know like we saw that in the video game world with like the Cyberpunk 2077 game, right?

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: like that was so supremely hyped and

JORDAN: It's hard to say.

SPENCER: Right from the jump it was really bad and it took several updates for it to like become what it was and it's a great game It's just all that steam fell off. So You kind of hope that that doesn't happen with Spider-Man and I don't think that they'll allow that to happen I don't think that that's you know but uh

JORDAN: I'm not sure exactly how many years it is. It might be seven, it might be eight, but it's... There is a contractual obligation which does incentivize making as many as possible. Which is interesting.

SPENCER: Right But you know like we just said though All of those Spider-Man movies, you know with maybe the exception of what like spider-man 3 and And maybe

JORDAN: Fun for, like, the young me.

SPENCER: Yeah, right right right

JORDAN: Cool villains.

SPENCER: But like the exception of like maybe spider-man 3 and I don't know maybe the amazing spider-man 2

JORDAN: Amazing too. It was the one that got it canceled. Yeah.

SPENCER: Yeah, so like With the exception of those I mean that's a pretty good average for like putting out consistently good movies, so and

JORDAN: Yeah.

SPENCER: This you know these last four have been amazing

JORDAN: Yeah, I got it. If there's one thing I got to say on this episode.

SPENCER: So

JORDAN: After No Way Home, we both agreed that that was Tom Holland's kind of coming out party. And just he was awesome in it. But I do have to say at this point, because he's just deserved it. After the first movie, which I thought was good, I wasn't skeptical, but I just wasn't like, yeah, Tom Holland, this is awesome. He's awesome. Tom Holland is Spider-Man.

SPENCER: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

JORDAN: And he's just, he's really incredible. And he's become a very good actor outright. But what he's done with the character at this point is really cool. And his commitment to play it, I mean, he's now done four, which is incredible. And he's been in, you know, a bunch of others. And I just wanted to get it out there that for anybody who did listen to our episodes before and thought I wasn't the Tom Holland, you know, fan.

SPENCER: I

JORDAN: I always enjoyed his Spider-Man, but now he's just really blown me away.

SPENCER: Was kind of in the same boat as you just I Felt like it was just based off of writing for like the first two movies maybe But knowing what we know now and seeing what it's become and Kind of like rewatching it re kind of processing it differently You're able to like see it through a different lens and Yeah, I mean he's incredible and it's it's awesome to see the like actor that he has become because yeah He crushed it in the Odyssey. I thought he did very well

SPENCER: Obviously not Marvel related but like he's he's definitely become a very good actor and I think a lot of that is because of the

JORDAN: Yeah, without it. Who knows?

SPENCER: Character of spider-man and how like emotional How that how much emotional weight is involved with being Peter Parker, right? So

JORDAN: He's nailed it. Something that a lot of people, you know, enjoyed the people that did like to listen to our podcast and talk to us is I always enjoyed that it was pretty conversational, low key, we're not sensationalizing.

SPENCER: Yeah, absolutely

JORDAN: We have a good time. We're honest. That's what you can expect again here.

SPENCER: Mm-hmm

JORDAN: We didn't, we didn't change in any particular ways when it comes to that. So in our 10 episode run, we will be discussing the movies and TV series that we've missed along the way.

SPENCER: You

JORDAN: We will talk about our feelings on, you know, the state of Marvel, continue that conversation. We will go over predictions that were correct, that were awful, that were partially correct, that were correct. And then we decided they were not going to be correct. And now they're correct again. So we're just going to be doing a lot of cool stuff. We'll be taking our time. We will, you know, really try to do our best to cover all this content that has taken, you know, place in these last four to five years. And I just want to say for anybody that is listening to this episode and has never heard us before, thank you. We appreciate you checking us out. And for anybody that has been here before or was here from, you know, day two, I don't know if anybody watched or listened to our original episode.

SPENCER: Oh man

JORDAN: It was really bad audio quality, actually. I don't know what I was doing.

SPENCER: Yeah

JORDAN: A special shout out to you guys. Appreciate all you guys that were, you know, taking care of us back then.

SPENCER: Mm-hmm

JORDAN: So we'll just continue to try to bring you some cool stuff. We're not going to force it. We're going to have fun. You guys hopefully will have fun with us. I don't know, what are your hopes and goals out of this?

SPENCER: I think it's just fun to engage in a community, you know, I think that's kind of like what this is all about You know like we talked about from the drop like We used to do basically this for hours, you know with no mics, you know and

JORDAN: Yeah, it's real.

SPENCER: There's a lot of people out there that do the same thing so and then have that kind of topic So it's it's nice to you know Have a podcast like this and it's kind of cool to be a part of it and being able to engage with people And so yeah, we appreciate everybody that listens and you know Maybe we're like a part of your community or something like that. We had several people that were like that so

JORDAN: Yeah, we got a lot of good episodes coming your way. We got a new episode coming soon. So keep an eye out wherever you listen to podcasts.

SPENCER: Yeah, looking forward to it

JORDAN: We do have an Instagram page, a Disc Two podcast. We also have a YouTube and we'll be maintaining it as we release new episodes. We'll put out little teasers for specific episodes with little clips that'll get you guys excited. We'd love interacting and I'm just hoping we have a good time and you guys do as well. So we thank you guys for listening to our episode zero here and keep an eye out for episode one because we're going to keep them coming. Once we hit that 10th, we'll have a conversation, see how you guys feel and how we feel.
