A Four Directions Reflection
Before we begin, pause for a moment and settle in.
Sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is pause long enough to orient ourselves.
Not to solve everything.
Not to figure out the whole path.
Just to notice where we are.
Imagine yourself standing in the centre of your life, with four directions around you.
Each direction carries a different kind of wisdom.
And today, each direction also has a flower.
Flowers often mirror the qualities we are exploring in our lives.
They remind us that growth, unfolding, and becoming happen in their own time.
East- Clarity
Snapdragon
The East is where the sun rises.
Before the world fully wakes up, the first light stretches across the sky.
Shadows soften. Shapes begin to appear. The landscape slowly reveals itself.
Clarity often arrives like that.
Not as a lightning bolt, but as a gradual brightening.
A quiet moment when something that once felt confusing begins to make sense.
Snapdragon reflects that same quality.
Its blossoms open gradually along the stem, almost like truth unfolding step by step.
It is often associated with truthful expression and bringing what is real into the light.
In the East we have:
Snapdragon. Truth coming into the light.
Journal:
What truth about who I am is becoming clearer?

South-Confidence
Tiger Lily
The South is the direction of warmth.
When we turn south, we face the strongest sunlight of the day.
It is where life grows tall and bold.
Confidence has that same warmth.
It is not about proving ourselves or becoming someone new.
It is about standing comfortably in our own sunlight.
Tiger Lily reflects that kind of presence.
It stands tall, vibrant and unmistakable. Its colour refuses to fade into the background.
Its essence is often associated with confidence, vitality, and embodied presence.
In the South we have:
Tiger Lily. Confidence in full bloom.
Journal:
Where in my life am I being invited to trust myself more fully?
Take a moment to write.
West- Courage
Peony
The West is where the sun sets.
The sky deepens into colour. Gold turns to amber, then violet.
Sunset reminds us that everything changes.
Every day asks us to release something and step into what comes next.
Courage often lives here.
Not dramatic bravery.
But the quiet willingness to act on what we know to be true.
Peonies mirror this beautifully.
They begin as tight buds and slowly unfold into extraordinary fullness.
Their essence is associated with sovereignty, dignity, and the courage to be fully seen.
In the West we have:
Peony. The courage to open.
Journal:
What truth am I being asked to act on with courage?
Take a moment to write.
North-Joy
Rose
North is the direction that helps us orient ourselves.
When people lose their way, they look for north. It helps them find their bearings again.
Joy can serve us in the same way.
Not the fleeting kind of happiness, but the deeper joy that comes from living in alignment with who we truly are.
Rose reflects this beautifully.
It is the flower most associated with the open heart and enduring love.
Its essence reminds us that joy is not something we chase.
It is something we experience when we live in alignment with what matters most and we love ourselves and live in alignment with who we are.
So in the North we have:
Rose. Joy as our anchor and our North Star.
Journal:
Where am I living in greater alignment with who I truly am?
Take a moment to write.
The Centre
Now imagine yourself standing in the centre of these four directions.
East. Clarity
South. Confidence
West. Courage
North. Joy
And in the centre, one more flower.
Tulip.
Tulips stand tall and open toward the light.
They are simple and unmistakably themselves.
Tulip represents authentic expression. The self standing in its truth.
The directions help orient us.
But the centre is where we live.
Integration Reflection
Pause and settle in.
Take a moment to look back over what you have written.
Notice what stands out.
Notice what feels important.
Now ask yourself:
Which direction is drawing your attention today?
Begin writing about what you are noticing.
We will take about five minutes.
Sharing
If you would like, we will take a few minutes to share.
You are welcome to share the direction that drew your attention or something you noticed as you reflected.
There is no pressure to share more than feels right.
Prompt:
What direction drew your attention today, and what did you notice as you wrote?
Closing
Sometimes we do not need to know the whole path.
We simply need to notice the direction that is asking for our attention.
The directions help us orient ourselves.
