A podcast for anybody who's collecting things, even in this economy! The show focuses on a variety of collectables, including retro games, trading cards, old consoles, DVDs, and more. Every other week we'll meet a different guest and learn about the things they collect and how they maintain their favorite hobbies without going broke.
Sticker Shock: Collector's Edition is a lighthearted podcast about the cost of collecting, but not just the financial cost. Building a collection costs time, square footage, and yeah, money is certainly part of that, especially these days where every hobby feels like a hyper commodified TikTok trend. I'm Dan by the way, and I guess I've been collecting things since childhood? But like a lot of my adult friends, I don't have most of the things I grew up collecting, especially anything with any sort of REAL value. And as I've revisited some of these hobbies, I've learned to be more intentional about the items I buy or even re-buy.
Dan:But even though I'm trying to be careful, my shelves are still filling up pretty fast. So I decided to start a podcast in an attempt to vicariously experience hobbies through the eyes of my guests. Every other week, I'll sit down for about an hour with a different person, usually a content creator, to dig into their collecting hobbies. Not only will you learn more about them, but ideally you'll come away with some tips and insights that will help hopefully any collector save some money. You can follow us on your favorite podcast app.
