where we now know all of workout one

mayhem.

We're going to talk about it next.

I love the chase and the hunt and

I set the pace when I'm running.

I always take what I want and I

always give it one hundred.

Don't need a bank, no I'm funded.

Play the game like it's nothing.

I'm always thankful for something.

Don't take for granted, stay humble.

Now wake up!

It's time to look at the enemy.

Look in the mirror if he is no

friend to me.

It's not working out,

maybe it's the chemistry.

It's time to break up so I can

make a better me.

It's lunch time.

what is going on everybody welcome to

lunch with the clydesdale before we get

into our as ed puts it our jazzy

friday we need to wish a jazzy happy

birthday to the cowboy as uh it is

today i think he is uh thirty nine

years young close enough

Close enough.

And he gets to celebrate his birthday by

checking out the Mayhem Classic this

weekend.

Pretty excited about that.

Now we know the rest of the workout.

We know all of workout one.

I was convinced after the chainsaw that it

was going to be a burden run.

Yeah, I was too.

and uh i was wrong yeah honestly it's

a it's a much simpler twist much simpler

uh vicky is singing you happy birthday

thanks vicky and she has a beautiful

singing voice so i'm sure it comes across

that way in the text version i can

feel it uh

Corey,

did you want your AARP application in PDF

or paper form?

Paper.

Yeah.

Old folks don't fuck with PDFs.

They just don't.

You can't tell what the file attachments

are at his agency.

Negative, negative, negative, negative.

I got some feedback coming from my talking

through your microphone.

Am I coming through your headphones or

through a speaker?

No, through my earbuds.

Okay, cool.

Well,

you know what's happening this weekend?

Oh, there it is.

Yeah.

I am tired of the time limit out

on me in the middle of shows.

Your one-hour time limit on the

Rodecaster?

Yeah, I would imagine so.

That sounds annoying.

So I'm going to get rid of it

and reset it and try to sell it

and put this new one.

I've had Zoom equipment before,

and it always works great.

So I'm getting rid of the Rode and

going to Zoom, and we'll see what happens.

At AI, we can hear the feedback too,

but it's Friday, so we don't care.

I don't, for whatever it's worth.

I hear you just fine.

So it's my voice echoing through your

stuff.

I don't know how it could be, though.

That's weird.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Amanda, happy birthday.

Wow.

Awesome.

How is it worse?

All I did was open the sound.

I didn't change anything.

I wonder if it's these headphones.

Yeah, it's getting real bad.

I don't know.

It's really bad.

I wonder what's happening.

So, yeah, I muted you.

Okay.

I think, nope.

Yes.

When I mute you, it goes away.

I'll take myself out and come back in.

Okay.

So anyway, Mayhem's kicking off today.

The women go in about...

uh uh they're doing a women's heat at

eleven for twelve forty five eastern time

eleven forty five central and then the men

go at one pm central time no

Yeah, one p.m.

Central Time, two p.m.

Eastern.

And they're going to do a run up

the hill on the road for one moment.

They're going to leave the road.

We're going in like fifty feet off the

road.

They're going to.

They're going to actually do burpees over

a log, their log set up,

and they will do the burpees over that

log.

Fifty.

Fifty.

Fifty burpees over the log.

Now I just can't hear you.

You're just soft.

Like I can tell you're talking,

but I can't.

Turn my gain up a little bit.

there yeah and we don't have the feedback

okay good that's weird uh so let's get

to the real topics lucinda who knew that

is the real name of one lucy one

lucy campbell i like how surprised she

seemed like people were like she was like

y'all really didn't know that uh no lucy

we did not

Jody, you are correct.

Time zones are confusing.

Not if you just go by Central and

then not have to worry about anything

else.

It's pretty easy at that point.

Jody,

I don't know how people in the middle

figure time zones out.

I'm a Pacific kind of guy.

I'm an Eastern guy.

I don't know what's going on, dude.

I didn't do anything.

That's what's pissing me off.

Is that enough burpees for Colton to bring

back time on the best runners?

It is a forty-two inch log.

I think that is going to hurt Colton

as much as the burpees would help him.

Check, check, check, two.

Yeah, it's not you.

It's my voice is echoing to me and

probably the crowd.

But now it's gone.

Is that as tall as Colton?

It's up there.

Colton might have to do getovers.

Rich did say that he recommended shirts

because they're going to be burping in the

grass and then gloves because they planed

off the log as much as they could,

but somebody still might get a splinter.

Well,

I think it's designed to be a get-over

because it's a log, right?

Like, just get over it anyway.

I don't think people are going to be

jumping over the log,

although there are probably some that can.

Did I miss?

Did he say they were high?

Because it sounded like he said they were

just on the ground, orange paint,

stay inside your orange paint,

get over and get back.

Forty-two inches.

Okay, I did miss that.

All right, cool.

So, yeah.

Oh, shit.

That changes things.

Yeah.

Okay.

Yeah, I missed that part of it.

Damn.

So, yeah,

it's going to make it interesting.

I still have Jeff to win.

I don't think that's anything.

Yeah.

That's not enough of a twist to knock

out the fastest runner, I don't think,

anyway.

Yeah, I don't think so at all.

I think it's interesting.

You know, here on the East Coast,

in the northern area,

we are supposed to hit eighty today.

I heard Taylor say it is hot and

humid in Tennessee today.

It's already eighty-two down here,

so it's probably not much different up in

Tennessee.

But for people traveling from the UK,

it's going to be a heat that they're

not used to.

A hundred percent.

Welcome to America.

Yeah, it's hot in Connecticut today.

And what's that, Jody?

Like, thirty eight?

Forty?

It's like sixty two degrees out here.

Sweating.

Um, no, no.

Um, so yeah, it's going to be fun.

Uh, they're going to run up that Hill.

Uh,

rich did say yesterday on the coffee pots

and wats podcast that, uh,

they're going to try to do a quick

turnaround post-production,

a highlight of the event tonight.

Uh,

so everybody can see it tonight before

they get into the action tomorrow.

So look for that tonight.

Um, it should, should be, uh,

interesting to watch.

I think.

Their media team is top-notch, dude.

I would expect a quick turnaround,

like seven, eight o'clock tonight.

I wouldn't be surprised if that hits the

channel.

Well, and unlike CrossFit HQ,

it's not a small team.

Correct.

Correct.

They come like eight wide in the media

pit.

Yeah.

I mean, you got mayhem money, bro.

You can afford to hire and pay some

people just to do that.

um jody says no the thermometer just says

it's hot she's got one of the new

fancy ones yeah hot that's fantastic

actually the other day jody went out and

said hey do you work out do you

do crossfit and sell cabinets to people as

it turns out

Um,

so do you want to go through the

workouts real quick and just pick the

winners of each workout?

Okay.

I like that.

Uh, let me try to find mayhem.

There we go.

So, and,

and this CrossFit network news is doing a

thing where you can pick the winner of

each event, uh, as a live poll.

Um,

And I know there's some place with them

listed.

I think the Spin has them listed.

Spin has them listed.

That's the first one I can think of.

I mean,

obviously Mayhem has them all on there

now.

They do,

but they're all over the place and not

in order.

Yeah, I know.

Spin should have them all listed on one

post, if I remember right.

I'll just go ahead and give you the

first one right now.

One and two is going to be Jeff

Adler and Roman Krennikoff.

Yeah.

Three.

I don't see the posting on spin.

I got it.

Try to think of who else in that

crowd is a decent runner.

Saxon.

I think he'll do okay.

I don't think he's a great pure runner.

I think it's just Jeff's to win.

And then probably Roman.

Tego was saying that the hill they got

to run up is pretty damn steep,

so that's going to affect some people too,

mainly Colton and Austin.

I don't know if you've ever been short

and tried to run uphill,

but it's not fun at all.

And I do think that's going to play

a significant role.

As much as you can open up your

stride is the problem.

So there could be some minor details that

are added to these workouts.

Rich said that yesterday on coffee pods

and wads as well.

Yep.

But so on the women's side,

who do you have for event one?

Okay.

were talking about this this morning dude

there's so many good runners in this field

like it's it's it's just silly uh i'm

gonna go caitlyn bernadin i would say

caitlyn or in abby like a really good

runner dome it uh i wouldn't put her

in that or uh actually no uh let's

just go with the obvious pick um lucinda

Lucinda Campbell,

is that your obvious pick?

We can go with Lucinda, sure.

I'm having a hard time with not calling

her Lucinda now that you said that.

I think it's going to come down to

Emily Rolfe and Caitlin Bernadine.

Yeah.

If it was Carrie the Log,

I might go Lucinda.

Emily,

whose name I was actually trying to

remember because she's clearly the best

runner in that field.

Yeah,

but I think it's between Emily and Caitlin

Bernadine for the win.

Everybody's saying, Haley,

I got to see it.

I got to see it.

And I know, you know,

we had that discussion the other day.

If it was just based on how you

looked, you know,

there'd be a lot of different winners.

But that picture she posted,

whenever it was, yesterday,

the day before, she looks good, dude.

Did you watch the interview the other day

where she talked about the broken foot

ankle still bothers her?

Yeah.

That's an issue.

Sure.

It's an issue.

I'm in the same camp that you are.

I want to see her actually do it.

So John was talking about it this morning.

CJ said that he hopes that

the leaderboard doesn't come out,

like they don't release,

post the leaderboard until after the video

comes out.

So, because if not, like,

what's the point of watching the video?

Unless you're like,

really just want to actually see.

So...

Yeah, I'm okay with one event that way,

like kind of no one.

Well,

just this one because you're not going to

be able to see it.

Right.

And even the video is not going to

be like following the runners the whole

way probably.

I would imagine not.

But who knows?

Maybe it is.

Let's move.

We have a lunch hour here.

So Saturday we start with Gwen.

I'm going to take Colton.

Uh, I'm going to go Jeff Adler,

double doubling up the wins.

Sure.

The man, the man can cycle a barbell.

I know he can.

And he is very data driven.

I think he knows exactly how much rest

he needs between, between sets.

And he's just going to,

and he's going to hammer it.

And because he's going to be in the

last heat,

most likely because he wins the run or

however he's coming in as a high seed,

he's going to see what other people have

done.

Fair enough.

Uh, so, and,

When Jeff is on,

cycling a barbell is his jam,

other than running.

And, yeah,

and I'll just leave it at that.

And then I'm going with a Kerstetter on

the women's side.

Oh, yeah.

I didn't think that was even a question.

I'm pretty sure everybody just assumed

Olivia's going to win, Gwen.

Everybody's going Colton on Gwen.

I'm telling you, go back and watch.

It was an open workout two years ago

that Jeff Adler set the,

it might have been like online Isabel,

where he just like,

I think he set the time to beat.

The man can just cycle a barbell.

And Colton does have some grip issues on

a barbell.

That's all I'm going to say.

The next is the Dirty Thirties.

That is the thirty sandbags,

thirty bar muscle-ups, thirty sandbags,

or it's ring muscle-ups.

And finishing with thirty sandbags.

Yeah, that's another Colton.

So because I knew everybody was going to

pick Colton for everything.

Everything like midline century.

No way.

But this.

Yeah.

With that sandbag.

And then, I mean,

everybody's seen him cycle ring muscle ups

and bar muscle ups.

They're just kind of in the way.

I'm going to give you a dark horse

pick on this one.

And it's Victor Hoffer.

Okay.

Okay.

The man is a gymnastics phenom.

True.

He's going to go through those muscle-ups

like they're butter.

He's not a big-statured man either.

And if he can handle the weight of

the sandbag, he'll rip that out.

I do think that it's Colton's to lose,

but I'm just trying to not go down

as everybody else.

And then we go to midline century and

that is the GHD toes to bar.

Something else.

Yeah.

I don't know.

GSD.

It just soon be GSD and oh, skier.

Skier.

Yeah.

So that it,

that's the reason why that's called

midline century.

Man.

My first thought.

Honestly,

it's Austin just because this is a mayhem

workout.

This is shit.

He's probably done.

I'll take your mayhem,

and I'll double it with Roman.

Roman's toes are fantastic.

And he's going to rip the ski erg

apart.

We've seen him do it for the ski

swim thing.

That was ridiculous to watch.

I just like him.

Again, I'm trying not to do the same.

I'm trying to do the same thing you

do.

Because I know I picked him to win

overall anyway.

I think it's going to be one of

those things where he doesn't actually

necessarily have to win every event to

come out on top.

Wayne says Hoffer will have to break the

sandbags.

Everybody's going to have to break the

sandbags.

It's not any sandbags.

Right?

Yeah.

That's heavy, dude.

Um, so I'm, I'm going Roman on midline.

And then on the women's side, uh,

Mark Phillips says,

are we leaning Haley here?

Um, if, if I knew, if I knew,

if I knew anything more about it,

I would, but I'm going with page.

Yeah.

Same, same.

Just got page piles written all over it.

I have Amanda.

Amanda's picks right down the line on this

one.

Roman Roman page.

At this point, Haley's almost a wild card,

dude.

Especially listening to her talk yesterday

or the day before, whenever that was,

whenever she's on Savant.

She feels good, which is outstanding,

but just based on what we've seen so

far in the past couple years, who knows?

I am very,

very curious to see her go.

On Sunday,

we kick off the day with Froning's

Benchmark.

It's the legless rope climb for the men,

one legless,

one non-legless for the women,

handstand walk with obstacle,

and the front squat.

That's Austin Hatfield.

Saxon Pancheck.

Fair enough.

I've seen the guy qualify for the games

with Legolas.

The man,

the Panchuk brothers are amazing on the

obstacle handstand walks.

The front squat is the only place I'm

a little bit nervous,

but Saxon can still move a barbell pretty

well.

That's why I'm going to Austin because the

front squat's not going to be an issue

for him.

And the rest of it,

it's only two rope climbs.

Like, it's not that big a deal.

And last year,

that's how he beat Colton was on the

legless rope climbs,

like just smashing out two of them

unbroken at the end.

Women's side, I'm taking Lucinda.

On the women's side,

here's where my dilemma is.

I want to take Emily Rolfe.

She's great on the rope.

She's great on her hands.

It's that front squat that worries me.

But I think Lucinda's going to have

problems with the front squat as well.

She might.

But it's not a lot of reps at

that front squat.

That's why I'm taking Lucinda.

So I'll take Emily,

just so we're different.

We should be writing this down.

We probably should.

On Monday, we can be like, well,

we were wrong on every single count.

Except the first one.

Wayne says,

this weekend will indicate if Haley's best

years are behind or in front of her.

I'm hoping in front.

I want everybody to do well.

Like, well, it's twenty three.

Twenty five.

Twenty five.

Yeah.

I mean, either way.

I think she's going to be OK.

Yeah.

Vicky says the logs are cool.

The new video on IG shows them.

Is it on the mayhem?

Probably.

Probably.

And my computer is deciding to move at

a snail's pace.

And then we have the final toll,

which is, what is it again?

I know it ends with the farmer's lunges.

Dumbbell bench.

Dumbbell bench.

uh what's in the mid what's in the

middle of it it ends on the lunge

with the same dumbbells gosh darn it

that's a crying shame i know what that

is yep thirty brett the double hunters

double hunters two hundred dubs yep two

hundred dubs as much as i would like

to pick colton on this one i don't

think i am uh man that dumbbell bench

dude

that's going to wreck people.

Like they don't,

I don't think people understand because

once you hit a wall on dumbbell bench,

like if you try into like,

I'm just going to go in broken or

do something stupid like that.

You can't just like shake it out and

then grab those two seventy fives and then

throw up the rest of them.

It's just not going to happen.

Yeah,

I I'm going to go Colton on that

one.

Oh, man.

Oh, no,

I would like to go Colton on that

one, but I don't think.

I think who moves the dumbbells?

I mean,

I know he moves the dumbbells well.

Yeah,

I don't think Adler's going to have a

problem with it.

I don't.

I don't think most people will if they're

smart about it.

Does that make sense?

As long as you're smart about it,

then it's easy.

I say easy,

but it's also very easy to just throw

the baby out the bathwater, per se.

Ed,

the weight of the dumbbells is

seventy-five fifty.

It is.

so here's the latest video from Mayhem uh

that that is a better depiction of how

steep yeah it is holy smokes at least

there's a lot of shade think about going

back down there they are did you see

him ooh oh

Senior out there.

I think it was chomping at the bit.

There they are.

Nice.

Nobody's jumping over those.

No.

No, that's get overs.

Yep.

Cool.

Out there in the grass, bro.

Fifty overs.

That's a cool event.

That's a cool event.

He also said that it's first come,

first serve.

Yep.

So you want to get a good lane,

you better run fast uphill.

I really do wonder how much the

familiarity with play apart will play a

part knowing when to push and let off

as a big edge for that hill.

It is.

It's going to be big.

And it's actually over a five K.

Rich said, unlike the games,

we're taking you more than a five K

less.

We're taking you more.

It's actually a little bit further than

five K. Let's go.

So I think it was like, he said,

three point five miles.

Yeah.

And a true five K is three, one,

three point one.

Yes, sir.

And the hardest part,

anybody's ever ran one for time will tell

you the hardest part is that point one.

It absolutely sucks.

You turn the corner and like a lot

of places you can see the finish line

and you're like, okay,

I need to run faster now.

There's no more faster to run.

So I'm assuming it's up the hill,

fifty and back down the hill.

Nope.

No?

It's uphill both ways?

It is.

It's uphill both ways.

You go up the hill, you veer off,

then back on the road and up the

rest of the hill.

All of your baggage is being thrown in

a truck.

I didn't hear that.

Up to the top of the hill.

I'm going to run this hill uphill both

ways.

Maybe at the top, Rich,

who's trying to act like Dave, goes...

He's already acting like Dave.

If you heard him in the briefing,

he's like,

wear a shirt because it's going to be

in the grass.

Don't run off the side.

If you run off the road,

you're going to have a bad time.

Yeah, no time cap.

But it's dark at seven o'clock and that's

when the wolves come out.

He is channeling his inner Dave Castro for

sure.

And what's funny is he doesn't view that

as a compliment.

No, not at all.

not at all he was like oh really

thanks he was also compared to his father

i don't know which he took worse right

yeah he didn't want to be he didn't

want you know that comparison to senior

either like man really those two guys uh

that would be effing hilarious if he did

that it's a completely different race down

that hill though

Like it is, that is all quads.

Uphill is going to be all glutes and

hamstrings.

Leaning off it, trying to just keep speed,

dude, like running uphill.

Holy smokes.

Speed, right?

Then you get there halfway, I guess,

or however far.

Okay,

let's do fifty getovers while we're here

over this here log.

And then you're not done.

Get up the road.

This is,

this is somebody said in the comments

earlier and I got to repeat it,

but like, it's a shame.

This might be the funnest event to watch

all weekend that we actually won't be able

to watch until sometime tonight.

Five person heats.

Gwen is going to be so much fun

to watch.

It's going to be devastating.

And I liked what Peter said yesterday on

Coffee Pods and Wads.

Like, does someone, like,

fake like they're going to pick the bar

back up?

Yeah.

Get settled in and go to grab it.

The mind tricks you can play with that.

Like, just go...

Dude,

I think the froning workout is going to

be fun to watch.

I love a good legless handstand obstacle

run.

Be a good pump.

Run around looking like freaking.

And then the dumbbell bunch,

the dumbbell bench.

It is a bunch of dumbbells.

That is a lot of benching.

Yeah.

Dude, thirty?

Thirty at twenty-five pounds gets to be

tricky towards the end of it.

Thirty at – I've done thirty,

not unbroken,

but I've done thirty with fifties,

and it hurts.

And towards the end,

you're – I am not a games athlete

by any stretch of the imagination,

but with seventy-five,

you better have some planned breaks in

there.

Mark Phillips,

none of these look boring in the least.

It's refreshing.

I think what's cool about these workouts

is Rich lived in a time where,

and they talked about it this morning on

the WOD Prep podcast,

is just slight little modifications to the

workout to change the dynamic.

Gwen having to be unbroken sets changes

clean and jerk workout completely.

Right?

And when you add those little touches in

there, it changes everything.

Right?

So it's going to be fun to watch

because I think Rich lived in that world

and Rich knows that that's what makes

things fun but not gimmicky.

He knows that line.

Yeah,

it's a pretty good bunch going up that

hill.

I do have it on my other screen.

Oh, Taylor's got it?

It's not great.

It's pretty blurry.

I'm sure, dude.

You're on the mountain.

There ain't much surface out there.

There's a pack,

and then there's one person way behind.

And now it's sideways.

And so I don't even know.

Now they're running up the hill.

They're running side.

Now they're running across the hill.

Oh, it's Ortega.

Now Ortega's trying to run after.

And the picture's sideways.

Crazy.

Ortega ain't no bigger than me.

So, like,

if he's trying to run up the hill

and video at the same time,

he is probably not having a fantastic day.

And Ortega is about to pass Gluck.

Damn.

Oh, Claudia.

Didn't he just get his Achilles repaired?

Not that long ago.

That's all we need is Ortega by the

side of the road.

Like a... Like a groundhog.

Yeah.

Might just...

Yeah, he did.

Remember that clearly.

So now he's taking a selfie of himself

running up the hill.

Gotta get the air time.

Anyway,

I think he needs to wipe his lens.

Because I don't think it's depicted.

An hour and nine minutes.

where's he at?

What, not where's he at?

Where's the broadcast net from or on a

Sivan CrossFit network.

Got it.

But anyway, um,

before we go and then we'll let you

guys go watch this.

If that's what you want to do.

Um,

Because I can't really, I can't,

I think we're just getting,

we're going to get Claudia Gluck over and

over again.

Just Ortega just passing Claudia every

couple of minutes.

And they just pulled down that stream.

So not the stream, but Ortega's camera.

So if you didn't see it on my

Instagram,

Holly has been at it all night long

again.

So we have, we have the.

a list of participants for Legends,

for Magic City, for French Throwdown,

every age group tabbed out on Google

Documents.

The live links are in my story.

You can just click on those.

It takes you right to any of those

spreadsheets, and you can see Open Finish,

Quarter Final Finish, Region,

And of any athlete in any age group

throughout those that will be competing in

those events over the next few weeks.

She's worked her butt off.

It is awesome.

And she also put out the entire semifinal

schedule.

Yes.

For both masters and for elite athletes.

Yeah,

I say it's a super easy thing to

read.

So if you need to know what's going

on, that's that.

I saw Ed say something here.

Okay, Life Talk.

What time is the restart on Monday?

I'm getting Vince Neal, Nikki Sixx,

and the boys together Monday morning to

kickstart my heart.

Hope it never stops.

And that is happening at seven thirty a.m.

on Monday, Eastern Time.

I have to be at the hospital at

six a.m.

Procedure at seven thirty.

A little bit of recovery.

Hopefully I'm back home and back in rhythm

in a few hours.

Let's call it noon.

Let's say we're home by noon.

That'd be fantastic.

My wife is so optimistic.

She is told her work.

She'll be back in the office by noon.

Maybe she knows something you don't know.

So there you go.

Colin Brander is actually in last.

Hicks is following the runners.

That actually doesn't surprise me.

So back in time for the show,

I would say no Ed for Monday.

But who knows?

It all depends on how I deal with

the anesthesia again.

That's what killed me the last time.

And the breathing tube actually made it

where I couldn't talk very well

afterwards.

So that's where we're at.

But I will let you all know as

soon as I know.

Monday, show Tuesday is the plan.

Easy day.

And then we'll look at our picks and

see how bad they were.

Terrible.

I'm going to tell you right now.

I'm the world's worst at picking.

I'm not,

I pick with my heart nine times out

of ten and that does not usually end

well.

I like to pick the only one that

we're safe on is Jeff Adler for the

first, for the first event.

Um, I pick with,

I'm trying to outsmart everybody and then

I'm usually,

I didn't not go with the obvious choice

and then I lose cause I,

it was the obvious choice.

Just like, no, no, no.

You should have gone with that guy.

Yeah.

alright guys it's the end of my lunch

hour time for you knuckleheads to get back

to work go or go try to find

a stream of this event right now we

have Ortega talking to Savon I see no

runners at this point hell of an effort

from Ortega trying to catch up to the

women good job not me

Sorry, guys.

Have a great rest of your day.

Have a great weekend.

We will be here for Sunday night CrossFit

talk,

breaking down everything that happened

over the weekend.

And then the cowboy and I will be

back on Tuesday to talk about everything

there.

Have a great weekend, people.

We'll see you soon.

Bye.
