In the MMA world in particular, the UFC Khamzat Chimaev and Nathan Diaz have verbally agreed to a fight on September 10th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada as the headliner, according to a UFC representative.

Hunter Campbell. He told ESPN who reported it first, and it seems we're getting an inch closer to seeing Nathan Diaz in the octagon. Why is this important? Nathan Diaz is obviously on the final fight of his contract and has been vocal about wanting to be released saying the UFC has not been offering him a fight.

As a matter of fact, according to his representative, Zach Rosenfield, he told them and MMA Junkie that he has been asking for this fight since the middle of April. Now, if you listened to the audio clip at the beginning of the podcast, you could hear Nathan Diaz say he did not want to fight Khamzat Chimaev, but he did admit that he changed his tune and he did eventually agree to fight Chimaev, but for whatever reason, months would go by and the UFC would not offer him a fight. Dana White may have contradicted what Nate said.

Nate has been vocal on various platforms, Twitter, post-fight discussions, but we don't know exactly where the truth lies. According to Nathan Diaz, he hasn't been offered any fights, but now he's been offered a fight. It's a verbal agreement. No bout agreement has officially been signed just yet, but at least we're seeing some progress in seeing Nathan Diaz and not only Nathan Diaz.

One of the most talked about fighters in the UFC in Khamzat Chimaev, who's not only undefeated as a mixed martial artist, but undefeated under the UFC banner, 5-0, particularly during the pandemic making a name for himself there, but then continuing his run by getting a massive, massive win over Li Jingliang and then following with a big, big win against the number two opponent. Number two ranked opponent in Gilbert Burns. Now Khamzat Chimaev is the number three ranked fighter and goes up against a very, very game opponent in Nathan Diaz. Now, what version of Nathan Diaz are we going to see since the last time Nathan Diaz has been in the octagon was 13 months ago and that was against Leon Edward, in which he lost. So it's going to be interesting to see how he comes back after over a year of lay-off and fighting someone like Khamzat, who is coming off of a very, very competitive fight against Gilbert. So now only did Khamzat get the big win over a highly ranked opponent, but he got some much-needed fight experience going up against a guy like Nathan Diaz, who has a ton of UFC experience.
