Full show transcript:
Oh, Chantel. What's
up? I've got some exciting news. That's here. From the Denver Museum of Natural and Science Scientists. They have discovered the first ever trackway made by an adult T Rex. It's a 23 foot long trackway that is four three-toed footprints discovered by a museum volunteer there. They have found where a actual tracks of where a T Rex walked.
How do they know it was a T-Rex?
Based on the size and the shape of it, I guess. They're big as a human body. They are huge. Can I look it up? I'm looking at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science on Facebook. Okay. And yes, you can see pictures of it.
It's really super cool. Researchers estimate that these footprints were made about 66 and a half million years ago. Each footprint is roughly three feet long. Two isolated footprints have previously been attributed to an adult T-Rex, but this is the first time that scientists have described a sequence of tracks, likely left by this predator, which is a rare glimpse into maybe how it moved because of how the footprints are laid out. You can see if it was sort of toes out, toes in, how big the steps and strides were really cool.
They found it in North Dakota. That's where they were located? Yeah. Okay. They're 230.
Oh, it does say that, yep. It consists of four three-toed footprints. Yeah.
Um, discovered by a museum volunteer. Yes. In the Hell Creek formation of southwestern North Dakota. That's right.
Along a hillside, they found multiple footprints in a line.
Oh, cool. Isn't that neat? Oh my gosh. Um, one. Those are huge. Yeah. Two. How did they determine that that's a footprint? Because it doesn't look like anything but like a big old dirt clod. And so I don't necessarily Yeah, I don't know.
Look, I I don't, I'm not that guy. You're asking the wrong guy. They know. And I trust them, because they know. I don't think they were like this mount of dirt. Okay, I know, but is the dirt itself compacted?
Like obviously they've cleared away the dirt around it, but is the footprint dirt compacted?
I believe what would have happened, here's what would have happened. Because it it would have made a negative space. If this was mud or clay, the weight of the footprint would have made an imprint. That imprint was then filled with some sort of debris that then has hardened over 66 million years, filling the impression with what you see there.
So it created a negative space, which has now been cleared away, and what was left is what filled in the footprint. I have a lot of questions. Okay. Call them up and ask.
I'm gonna have to. I'm gonna have to go to the dig site and say walk me through this. Uh walk me through this.
How do you walk me through this?
Yeah, and somebody also said if a footprint, if it's a footprint, wouldn't it be sunk?
That's what I that's what I'm explaining.
That's what I'm saying. I don't understand.
If it was not 66 million years ago, yeah. But what had happened was that it was probably a rainy day. Yeah, there was mud. Okay. The footprint went in and created the impression.
Yes. The negative space was then filled with something that hardened over time. Whatever this rock is.
And over 66 million years, that rock fossilized and is what they have discovered. It's like if you took a uh impression of your face and then poured a bunch of putty in it or whatever, a bunch of plaster of Paris. That thing you peel out of the impression is the thing. So that's what they have found. So, yes, originally when the when the T-Rex stepped there, it created a negative space. Okay, it's filled and hardened over 66 million years. Got it. Okay. Okay. Interesting. Yeah. Sediment.
And that forms a hard shell around it. Is that what you found out just now? Yes. There you go. Yeah.
Huh. Yeah, because that's what would have happened is the impression got filled with you know, water, and then whatever, and then it just hardened and became what they've discovered. So, anyway, that's let's go ahead and start today's show, I guess. I mean, now that we've discussed enough of that. Here's today's show. Oh, a bit of an eventful morning. Nothing like running in and having like computer fires, not literal, but uh, you know, a bunch of technology stuff that you have to run around and fix.
That's always fun. Yeah, I'm sorry. It creates a bit of a chaos. And I like it, you there were a couple of times you went, is there anything I can do to help?
I know I'm not gonna be of any assistance. So I just stay out of the way. Yeah, no, that's fine.
Uh but got it all taken care of. Everything's good, you know. Everything's cool in the building now. Everything's fine. Solid gold, baby. And for the most part, you may not even have known there were issues. And that's great. That's the way it's designed. It's designed to hide technical issues from the listener.
And then someone can come in and fix them.
That's right. And then I walk in and I see like uh, you know, every computer in every room in every studio is having an issue, and so I have to run around to one, two, three, four, five, six different rooms.
I got here before you, and uh and noticed that there was something amiss. And I went, oh no.
Because you usually log into a couple of the computers to kind of get something started. Yeah. Uh and when you would have gone to do that this morning, it would have said disconnected, and you would have been like
uh it was a big like warning sign, and I went, oh, I'm not I'm back away slowly. There's nothing I can do here. Yeah, well anyway.
We're all good. We're all congrats, sure. I mean sure thing. Congrats on fixing it. Yeah. Well, it kind of it just makes everything be thrown off. Yeah. You know, because you gotta you gotta spend a good amount of time in each of the rooms trying to get all of that stuff up and running.
But then also it throws you off a little bit because you were expecting to come in and have a nice cash,
like I got prep to do, I got things to write down that we're gonna talk about. I got you know, things I gotta get organized. I wasn't able to get to good news last hour.
No, there's just so many things that just happen because there's just other stuff takes priority, you know. But anyway, we're here. All is well. It's seven o'clock in the morning, so we got a little bit of a late start on the show. And it's Thursday. Yeah, it is.
And we've only been to work for three days.
Couple of things I noticed this morning, leaving the house. I forgot to turn the water off last night. I noticed that. So I turned that off. Today is garbage day because it's normally on Wednesday, but uh it was uh labor day.
Right. So uh today's garbage day, so I had to take that out. Uh I had to grab my lunch out of the fridge.
Uh our daughter's car was parked behind yours, so we had to move cars. There was a lot going on this morning, and then I get to work and it's broken. And I go, what is going on today? Oh, and I hope everybody's okay in the accident that we had to drive.
Yeah, there was an accident. That looked sunny's nasty.
And it and it started early, like 5 20 or something this morning. That Yeah, there were a couple of cars that uh it was uh traffic was backed up, so there were a few things going on this morning that were uh delaying the show.
I think that just means we get to go back to bed. Should have. Should have gone back to bed. No good, very bad day. Yeah. Alexander and the no good, terrible, horrible, very bad day. I think you added some extras in there. You didn't. You don't know. I didn't add anything. You did. Is it Alexander and the very uh Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Yeah. That's what I said.
Roll tape. Let's roll tape. We'll roll back and we'll set all of that. I don't know. Bruh. Oh. If I had a way to roll tape at the same time I'm recording tape, that would
be that would be so good, wouldn't it?
Yeah, because then I could actually go do that in real time.
Real life. That would be great.
I mean, like right now I could go back and I can pull the audio like, but I would have to stop the recording, and then I would miss the whole part of proving you wrong.
We don't need that on tape.
Right, right, right. Can't have that. And not have that. Well, anyway, hey there, good morning. Uh we are here. Fear not, and uh happy Thursday. Woot.
Okay, I'm gonna give you a couple of things, like a list of things, and then I want you to tell me if you can do them without instructions. Do I need a pen? No. Oh, okay.
I've got a pen and paper. Do you know?
I know you do. No. You just say yes or no. Can I do it? These are common common life skills that you're kind of expected to know. Can you do it? And it's like can you do it without instructions? Sure thing.
Like, could I just go do this thing? Yeah. Okay, let's see. Change a diaper. Yes. Why don't you you don't believe me?
No, you've changed a diaper.
I know I can do that without instructions.
I know the first time that you've ever changed a diaper was when our son was born. Yeah. That's okay. That's okay. What? I wasn't a big babysitter. Boil an egg. Yeah. Cook rice. Yeah. Perform basic first aid. Okay. Well, let hold on.
Uh let me go back to rice in a pot on the stove. Yes. And in the rice cooker.
Oh.
Look at you, so basic first aid, yes. And I am CPR AED certified. So I got that going for you. Look at you. You're like. So far so good. Change attire. Yes. Balance the checkbook. Yeah. Pay a bill. Yeah. Wrap a present. Yes. Very well.
You do you do it? I like to give you the presents to rap because you do it better than I do. Um, what's in that iron clothes? Yes. Okay. Use a drill. Yeah. Change a light bulb.
Yes. What are these? Unclog a toilet. Yep.
These are common skills that people should know. But sometimes people don't.
I'm waiting to hear the list that you what are the ones so far that you are uncomfortable with.
Um, none. I know how to do all of this stuff.
I know you know how, but what are you uncomfortable with? None of them. Using a drill. No, I could do it. Could you use the chop saw? No. Could you use the circular saw?
Wait, which one is the one that comes down? That's the chop saw. I can use that one. I don't know what's the miter saw. What's the circular saw?
That's the one that you move across the thing. It's just the Oh, yeah.
I've done I've used both of those before. Okay. Jigsaw. Which one is that?
That's the one with the little blade that goes like that. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Piece of cake. Sure thing. I've used those before. What about the Craig jig? Which one is that? It's the one that puts in pocket screws.
Oh, no. I don't know how to use that one. I can't do that. That's not common thing.
Hey, hey, hey, hey.
It's not a common thing. Those aren't in common things. Change a tire. No. Yeah, no kidding. No, I couldn't do it without instructions. So on a button? Yes. Okay. Hey, hey, hey. Hang a picture. Yes. Piece of cake.
Okay. Yeah. Do it properly with a nail. Fine. Not a thumbtack. Fine. And by I don't mean push pin. I mean flat thumb tack. It has zero surface area. And you're like, that'll hold. Till someone sneezes and then it falls off the wall. What about jump starting your car? Yes. How about you?
Yeah, I can. And you know why? We just had to jumpstart a car not that long ago. And I said, I think you have to put the red on before the black. And you go, I don't think it matters. And I go, no, I think it does. And I looked it up and it doesn't matter. Yeah, it matters. Okay. So look at me knowing stuff about better than you. Well, that's it. You pass the test.
Do I get like a trophy? What does that mean?
Well, good for you. You get to be an adult.
Oh. Knows how to do all of those basic things. Awesome.
Ooh, here's one. Unclog a garbage disposal. Yes. I can do that. You can. I don't want to.
Yeah, you do the plumbing.
You know how you would see on TV sometimes. There would be families that would be eating dinner, and it was like the kids would be finished and they'd be like, Can I be dismissed? Or can I be excused? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And we never did that growing up in my house. Did you? No.
No, we were not a I can I be excused. I feel like that was a fancy house thing. Yeah.
Ours was kind of like if you could sit everybody down for dinner, that was a good thing. Okay. Because we were all busy, especially as teenagers. And so it was like. No, I gotta quickly eat by the stove so that I can go do my thing. Growing up.
That's interesting. I'm trying to like we sat down for dinners.
Like we had a well, we did too, but not all the time.
I'm just trying to remember, like if it was I'm trying to like go back to like when I was younger and trying to remember, like I'm sure it was like you have to eat all your food. Like I'm sure that was a common thing that was said. Yeah.
No, you sit down, you have to eat all your food. Uh and that would have been the the most of it. And then once my plate was done, it would have been like, okay, I'm done.
That's what that's what our house is. Yeah.
If you're done, everybody kind of gets up and wanders and does whatever.
Yeah, and I'm the slowest eater in the house, so I'm usually left there eating by myself. Eat quicker. Sad. Take bigger bites. I don't eat quicker, and I'll tell you why, because I'm busy chatting. I'm busy talking to the kids. I'm busy talking to you.
Well, eat quicker, take bigger bites, and talk less. No, I won't. Okay. Then don't.
Maybe you guys just stay at the table until everyone is finished. Oh. It's not that long.
It is if you keep talking and taking small bites. By the time everyone leaves, then I'm I'm quiet anyway.
I feel like everybody finished before me last night because I had a phone call. And so uh everybody was like well done with their meal before I got even started. And gone. Yeah.
I think you sat down alone at the table. I did. Because we were all we're done. Yeah. Moving on. So, you know. What's the pro I mean? I think the proper etiquette is to sit, like to remain there until everybody's finished with their meal, but I don't necessarily care that much either. If you're done, I'm not gonna make you sit and watch me eat. Get up and go. I feel like that's what you want. No, I just sometimes maybe not at all.
Sit here and watch me eat.
Okay, here's another question then. Okay. When you're at like, say we go to a restaurant and you get your food before everyone else. Do you start to eat or do you wait until everybody's food has been delivered? It depends. How hungry you are?
Well, how quick was the first food delivered. Like if I ordered a side salad and it and it came, I'm gonna eat my side salad. Uh appetizers are going around, we're gonna eat those, obviously. If they bring out one entree, if let's say where there's four people, uh-huh, and they bring out one entree, I'm gonna wait until at least one or two other people have their food.
When my when the kids were little, I would at least wait until they had their food first, and then I would start. But now that they're older, I go, Yeah, I can't be bothered.
My panini is here.
These fries are gonna get cold. I mean I guess somebody's gonna eat these. Yeah. Yeah, get it while it's good. I know that's not a good it's a bad habit to have to just immediately start eating when I get my plate. But I also know that everybody's food is gonna be arriving soon. No one's gonna starve.
Right. I I like when uh the whole table's been served. Like if you go with like a group of like eight to twelve people, and everybody's been served except for one. And everybody's like chowing down. Yeah, and that one person's like, hope everybody's food is good.
Like I've been that person.
I have been that person too. That's always the worst. Like you go to a big birthday dinner and you're like, did they forget my food? Yeah, I know.
And then they come back and they go, anybody need any drinks? Anybody need anything? You're like, my meal. Look at it. Oh, it's coming.
I always make a circle around where I'm sitting, like, see, this is empty.
This part in front of me should have a meal. I ordered one. No plates here. Just my hands. Yeah. Am I gonna eat air? What is this? You're trying to tell me something? It's rude.
Hey, maybe tonight at the dinner table, you could just wait. What am I cooking tonight? I don't know. I made burgers last night. I know they were good. Good job. And corn that you grew.
I did make corn on the cob from the garden. You grew it and cooked it. And it was tasty. It was delicious. Yeah. Yeah. Well, anyway. We'll see what I'm cooking tonight. Okay. Some pasta dish with a chicken on it or something.
Well, you stay at the table until I'm finished.
You're sorry, your mic cut out just then. What'd you say? There we were, you and I.
Um, sitting relaxing in our basement, and here comes Emory and says, Hey, I have to do a presentation tomorrow. Do you guys want to see it? And I went, Yes. When she went upstairs to get it, I said, I don't want to. Some sometimes as a parent, you have to do things you don't necessarily want to do.
This was the equivalent to, hey, mom, look what I can do. Mom, mom, look what I can do. Here's what happened, though. Then she brought her presentation down. Yeah. And her presentation is on ghosts. Yep. One of them. The other one is a story. She had to write about a classmate. Yeah. I guess. Yep. Uh, and is the story she wrote about her classmate all made up.
No, they're actual facts. Like they had a facts mixed in.
They had an interview. Yeah, they had to interview their classmate and get facts mixed in, yeah. Got it.
Okay. Anyway, the ghost presentation. She just was like, look at it. And she just hit the arrow key and was like, doesn't it look cool? Like she didn't even do the presentation. She was like, look at all this stuff that I did.
I'm trying to read it. Well, you don't need to read it.
What what did she say about essence of food?
Oh, there was one slide in her ghost presentation that had diet. And I went, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What a ghost eat. What's the ghost diet? And she said, Oh, it's just the essence of food. Yeah.
She said there's a lot of people that say that like if a ghost were to eat food, it would eat the essence of food. Like they would eat the smells of food.
I said, Oh, I saw a TikTok like that. There was a dog eating the steam from a roast.
And then I asked uh if she had seen the movie Casper, where the food just falls right through them. Because if you did have, you know, physical food, it would probably not work. So it makes sense. Eating the essence of food makes sense.
Now I sound like a terrible parent for saying, like, oh, I don't want to watch her presentation. But it actually turned out to be Oh, it was a fun time. It was a great time.
Turned out to be pretty cool. But there's sometimes this parent where you just go, I I love you so much. I'm super proud of everything you're doing. I just don't want to parent right now. I just want to not be around anyone. I just be alone. And then here come your kids, and they're like, hey, did you want to be alone? Because I don't.
I want to be next to you. Yeah. Very close next to you. Can I sit on your lap? Yeah. Yeah. That doesn't change from toddler to teenager. It sure doesn't. Yeah.
And boy, when they're a teenager, you better make yourself available because if you don't, they will be mad at you. Yeah. That's why you have to say yes, I want to see your presentation, even though you don't.
Yeah. Because they'll be mad if you say no. I when she walked upstairs to get it, I said, I don't really want to see that presentation right now. And you said, then you should have said that. I go, you can't. You can't. You could have tried. You know? It actually turned out to be an okay time. I was glad I said yes. Because it was fun.
It was fun. I liked her story about her classmate. That was a it was a fun time. And I that's what I really didn't know how much of that was her writing and how much of that was actual facts, but there was a lot of silliness work there.
She had to, they had to choose. I can't remember. You had to choose between writing a kid's story. You had to interview a classmate, and then you had to write either a kid's story, a eulogy.
Hers is a eulogy.
Or something else. I can't remember the other thing. And she chose a eulogy. Yeah. And then she said that her classmate knew the weatherman. She had to ask her if she knew any famous people. And I go, um, excuse me.
Yeah. The weatherman. Does she know two people on the radio? Allah. Josh and Jan. A la. I.e. a la. A la. I don't know that that's Yeah, it is. Yeah, it is.
I'm not a hundred percent on that. It means to the To the to the. Yeah, I don't think it's that. No, maybe not. Yeah. I think you meant I.e. I think you meant. No, that's not enough.
That's not how you have a conversation. Oh, yeah. No, I think you did. No. Say it. You did. You did. A law. You said it. Now you may be asking,
Josh and Chatel, didn't you talk about like an ice cream club you guys were gonna do this summer? Oh, yeah. And to which I'll say, oh yeah. Let me tell you about that. Let me give you another.
We did like three things. No, we did more than that. How many did we do?
We did. Let me see. One, two.
Was I buckle your shoe? Was I at all of them? No.
We did not do very many.
I know. We only did like three. What happened to us? Uh time. Life. Life.
Life got in the way. We kind of forgot. Yeah, you have to have money to do this.
Not wanting to eat ice cream every day.
What are you crazy? I want to, I always want to eat ice cream every day. I think just we just got busy sometimes and then would forget. Yeah. And then by the time you're like tucked in at home and your daughter says, Wanna go get ice cream for our ice cream club? I go, I'm just I'm already in bed. And also we have ice cream in the freezer. You we could just eat that. And then she goes, Ugh. And I go, Yeah, but that's free. I've already bought that.
Well, it's not free, but that's weird girl math, but okay. Get over yourself. If it's in the fridge, it's free food.
What I will say is we did go to at least five or six different places. And my favorite was Crispy Coat's. Oh, was it? Yep.
Which flavor did you have? I wasn't on that trip.
No, you were not on that trip. But that was just to me and Emery. Right. And we didn't.
Which means it doesn't count for the club because not all the club members were there. It does count.
Yeah, it was. You got kicked out of the club anyway because you didn't want to write stuff.
Not at the time I was eating it. I wanted to get all of my notes together at the end and then eat them uh all at once and then try them side by side. But you know, that's fine.
Let me say that we didn't get the cone. Like you can get the ice cream in the cone. Yeah. And I think you just like it in the bowl. It's too sweet. Yeah. And so we just got the ice cream, but they, in my opinion, have the best ice cream. Interesting. It's so good. It's not too sweet.
It's a perfect amount of cream. Cookie butter one when they first opened. And I really like that. It was biscoff and it had biscoff in it, and it had a biscoff cookie on top. And it was so good. I missed that. I want that back. Biscoff all the things. Yeah. Okay.
So that's my current rating. There's still quite a few more on our list that we have to do.
But we didn't even go to like a lot of the staple places.
What do you mean by staple places?
Like we didn't do reads. We have not. Like we didn't do But we did Baskin Robbins.
Yeah. And we did Dairy Queen.
See, and my thing was I'm gonna try a flavor that I don't normally get. That was my big step out of my comfort zone. Oh it was a big deal. I don't even know where I put my notes about what I had.
I can't even believe it. Who's the president of this ice cream club?
I don't know. I missed the election, so I don't know.
Terrible president. I never voted for you. Who made you president? I didn't want to be president. Who made you president? I don't know. I think you self-appointed. I think I did self-appoint. True. Should not have done that. Self-reject. Too late. You should have known better.
I wasn't involved in that conversation. No one asked me who I wanted to have as the president of the club.
Emory should have been president. It was her idea.
Put the dog in charge.
No, and she can't be in charge of anything. But Emory sure as could. Sure as could. She could. What happened? Okay, we also have to do the fries. Oh, forget about it. The fry club. It's tater tots.
Not fries. Okay, hold on. We got a text from our daughter. Yeah.
She said, I'm the president of that club. Here we go. Get out of here. I came up with it. See? Fine, be president. I don't want it. Take it. Well, there you go. Okay.
You both self-appointed yourselves as president of the club that's dysfunctional. Yeah, exactly. Good job.
You can have it. I mean, you're doing a terrible job. She's listening right now. You're doing a terrible job as president.
She asked you to go get ice cream and you said no. Win. Multiple times the way you told the story. When? I don't know. I wasn't there.
So I don't know. She can drive. The president should also have to pay for the ice cream.
That's what I'm talking about.
Let's make that a rule. Let's put that in the bylaws. The president of the case.
When's the meeting? I don't even know. I'm not invited. I got kicked out. You guys have fun.
If you're in a hurry to get Christmas going. Who is? Some people are. Who? Some people. Slow down. Well, Hallmark has got a countdown to Christmas that's going to kick off in October. October 17th. Mid-October. Yep. And they have a show, and I'm a little bit annoyed. It's Holiday Touchdown, a Bears Love Story. Oh. Dumb.
Holiday touchdown. It's about uh football. Yeah, it's about the Chicago Bears. Yeah.
Uh there's going to be appearances by current and former Chicago Bears players. Ugh. As my division rivals. I disagree with this idea. All right. This is the third movie that Hallmark has made in partnership with the NFL. Do you remember we talked a couple of years ago? They made uh Kansas City Chiefs movie. I can't remember what that one was called, but that was a couple years ago. And then apparently they made a movies about the Buffalo Bills. I don't I didn't know that one.
No, I I have not followed the Hallmark movie.
We talked about the Kansas City Chiefs one. Yeah, I remember that. Because I was annoyed.
Because it was during the the height of the Taylor Travis stuff. Yeah.
Yep. This one, a Bears Love Story. It's about a Chicago firefighter who gets the local news to do a story about his grandmother who will attend her 500th Bears game. Okay. Duh Bears. Yes, duh bears. Dub Bears.
Um. And there's gonna be appearances from these people I've never heard of. If you're a Bears fan, you probably know who they are.
My boss is a Bears fan, gross. Okay. I just remembered he told me that yesterday. Oh. And then he said, Who's your team? And I said, the Vikings, and he grossed at me.
You guys grossed at each other? Oh, gross. Don't gross at one another.
I kind of here's the thing. One of the best parts about football is when you can like diss on other teams. That's one of my favorite things. Yeah.
I know. You love talking trash. I really think. Why football season you turn into Jimothy. A trash panda. You turn into Jimothy the raccoon.
The problem is I don't necessarily know what I'm talking about. And so I throw trash, and then people go, What? Are you even? I know. I go, your quarterback is the worst. And they'll be like, actually. I know.
I've been in competition with you. And you just throw the garbage on the lawn and you're like, look at this mess I made. And then you walk away all proud, like Jimothy the raccoon. That's your mascot. You and Jimothy, best of friends. Yeah. Yeah.
It's fun. I like it.
Today you're wearing gray and then your hair is dark. Like you are in full, and you got a white shirt on. You're in full raccoon. Right now. You are in it. Okay.
Bring it. What do you want to talk about?
I'll trust some trash. I don't want to.
You want to talk about the game last night? Patriots lost. Oh no. And then what happened? I don't know. What? The Seahawks won? Well, yeah.
And Sam Darnold uh got injured.
He hurt his hip. I feel bad about that. I feel bad about Sam Darnold. And I threw a lot of trash about Sam Darnold because he used to be my quarterback. And then he didn't do anything for us. And I say that, and people go, he actually got shit to the playoffs. And I go, Yeah, he kind of did.
And then we stop being a raccoon.
Threw him away. And then he went won the Super Bowl. Maybe that was a bad decision.
KOC. Oh, here we go. Kevin. Kevin O'Connell. What are you doing? Gavin.
Anyway, uh, if you'd like to watch Holiday Touchdown, a Bears Love Story. October 17th. Bears fan. Wait. Who's the Bears quarterback? I think I actually like him. You do. Caleb Williams. I do like him. Yeah. All right. The Bears ain't so bad. All right. You there? I'm here. Okay.
You had your phone going there for a minute. So you were filming a video because I want to talk about meat weekend. And you're a little bit taken aback by meat weekend. And so you uh you're putting together a video, I suppose, for socials about meat weekend.
Yeah. So uh meat weekend is this weekend. Uh, because I bought uh a big pork shoulder to make pulled pork on the smoker.
Yeah. And uh and so I was talking to uh our buddy Dana last night about uh you know recipes and rubs and how to you know cook it. he's a competitive barbecue guy competitor, yeah.
So he kind of knowing what he's talking about.
He does know a thing or two about meat. And uh and it takes some time, and so I thought, you know, I'm probably like I'm not gonna wake up early on a weekday and throw it in and then leave the house and not be around, you know, for the meat. Right. Uh I feel like I need to be around to watch the temps.
It's a lot of meat. How much? 12 pounds?
Yeah, I got like 12 pounds of pork shoulder that I'm gonna turn into pulled pork. Yeah. I'm excited. Are you? Yeah.
This will be the first time that you've used the smoker that I got you for Father's Day.
For something this big. I've done I did chickens. Oh, that's right. Uh, and I've done something else on. I think I did some steaks. I did something else. I've done like two things on it. Um, but this is definitely my first like big I'm gonna actually smoke a meat. So on Saturday, I'm turning it into meat weekend.
Why does it have to be with the weekend? It's 12 pounds of meat.
But all we're gonna eat is pulled pork all weekend. It's meat weekend.
I don't want to have meat weekend.
Why? Are you worried that I'm not gonna make good meat?
No, I just don't like meat that much. I mean, uh hold up. Because I do like solid pork rote or like uh pulled pork. That's nice. You know what? What? We could make what could we make?
Well, you can turn it into sandwiches because this was the question I told Beck. I was I'm making this pulled pork, and he's like, What are you gonna do with it? Like, what are how are we gonna eat it? And I said, Well, you can put it on a plate and eat it like that, or you could put it on a bun and eat it like a sandwich with some coleslaw or some nachos. You I we could do a nacho with it.
You bet we could. We could do all kinds of things once we have the pulled pork. You can mix it in with beans and have pork and beans, pulled pork and beans.
Um, Salad. you know, I guess you could put it on a salad. That's a thing.
You were talking to your barbecue buddy Dana about the crispy bits. Yeah. Because that's what I like.
Yeah, he was telling me how to get a good uh good skin on there. Yeah. Get that. I will do my best. Okay. We'll see how it goes. It's my first real step into your first into smoking.
Yeah, my first real like, I'm gonna set it up. It's gonna run for hours. I'm gonna cook a big meat. It's meat weekend.
Whoa. Is it the day after tomorrow is meat weekend? It's only like a day and a half away. What? Like in less than 48 hours, I will have meat cooking. I'm excited.
No, I am. I'm excited for you to use the smoker that I bought you.
I'm excited for you to try something new. I'm excited to try it to eat it.
I got some ribs as well that I'm I'm not gonna do those. I might do them. If I if Sunday pans out, I don't know. We'll see.
And then it really will be a meat weekend. Yeah, I know.
If you got pulled pork and ribs, there's only four of us. We're gonna have to invite some people over. Well, we got meat. A lot of it. It is a meat weekend.
Meat. Uh, there's this new uh show coming to Netflix in October. Oh, it's a coming to Netflix? Yeah, it's on Netflix.
Uh in October. Is it a series? No. Oh. I don't think so. Okay. Oh, it might be. No way. A mini TV series. Lottie dog. I didn't expect it to be multiple episodes.
That's kind of exciting. Something to binge watch. Maybe. I kind of like that.
Uh well, anyway. Uh, this trailer just came out, like very much a few minutes ago, but it premieres October 8th. Uh will be the first episode. I don't know if it's gonna be a weekly thing or if they're gonna release the whole thing at once. I don't know what they're gonna do, but it's called Below, and it's uh mysterious sea creature terrorizing a remote town, and a fisherman must fight to protect his family, his community, and his way of life. And that fisherman is played by Josh Hartnett.
Josh Hartnett. The last time you saw him was in Pearl Harbor. You think the movie, not the real life event. No, no, really.
I think Josh has had to have done something since Pearl Harbor. I don't know. Now I'm looking. Uh he showed up in the TV series The Bear. Oh, I we haven't seen it. He was in Oppenheimer. Oh, we haven't seen that either.
Uh yeah, this is why. several Uh several different things. Like, I'm I have to get like clear down to because he was in Paradise Lost, the TV series.
I don't know what that is. Uh like to get to Pearl Harbor, when did that come out? Like forever ago. In the 90s, I think. Yeah, he's done a lot since then. You just haven't seen Josh Hartnett in things, but he has been in things since then.
But anyway, uh, he is this fisherman uh who is uh fighting to protect his family, community, and his way of life. Uh and also has in the cast uh a couple of people that I was excited to see. Charlie Heaton uh is who's that? He is playing Josh Hartnett's character as Calvin. Uh Charlie is playing uh Wade, who is Calvin's son, and the cast he's Jonathan from Stranger Things.
And the casting, I know. And you said, is that Jonathan? And then you said, No, that's Josh Hartnet when you saw the name, and then you abandoned that.
Uh, but the casting of Charlie as Josh's son is very good. Like the in the trailer, they look they do look alike. Like they are related. Related. Yeah, really, really cool.
Pearl Harbor came out in 2001. Okay.
Well, there you go. He's done a lot in the last 25 years. Isn't like he just was like.
hmm? He has. We just haven't. I haven't been a part of what he's done. Correct.
Anyway, it looks really cool. I'm excited. I didn't know it was gonna be a series. I think that looks fun. It's on Netflix. It is on Netflix October 8. we have. It is.
We have that. Uh so October 8th, we'll be able to uh check out that new show. It looks really interesting. It looks a little spooky. Looks uh looks like uh it's got water in it. A little bit of a thrill. Yeah, it's a thriller.
And the fact that it's an episodic mini series series. Sure. Bingeworthy. Yeah. I like that. It's been a long time since we've had a show that we can binge watch. So I'm pretty stoked.
Because we have to wait until like January to get the pit back, right? Yes. Settle down.
I know I know my medical training is taking a hiatus. I don't even know how to care for people anymore. Don't bleed in front of me right now because I've forgotten how to intubate.
Yeah, come on. I ended up at uh at a hospital like a week or two ago, and I I was telling uh the doctor there that you knew how to intubate people, and she went, No, you don't. No, you don't. The doctor said that. Yeah.
I have some words. Plus, it's not even a thing, like I got a splinter. I'm gonna have to intubate. Yeah, the only answer to this give me the cart. It's the only way we can fix it.
Just relax. You're in good hands. No.
No. So every year, uh big tech companies do their big uh like announcements. They put on a kind of a big party and they invite a bunch of tech people to come and learn about their new technology. And uh Apple just had theirs yesterday. Okay. Uh, and they introduced a new iPhone. It's the iPhone Duo. Have you seen this?
No, why would I say that? Pull it up. Uh it's it's gonna cost you two thousand dollars for this new iPhone. Uh $2,000. That's right. And pre-orders start at uh 6 a.m. on October 16th, and then it will be delivered and available to purchase October 23rd. Uh $2,000 for the uh iPhone Duo, which is a folding phone. It's wide.
Yeah, that was their the kind of their thing was to make it uh sort of like a mini iPad, which they had for a while, the iPad mini. Um they're touting that there is no crease uh where the screen meets, but that is untrue. There is a crease where it hinges, uh because there just has to be. The other thing is that uh there have been many folding phones that have been produced. Uh Google has one, Samsung's had one for a long time, and Samsung is the one who is the company who makes the screen that iPhone uses. And so of course Samsung knew this is gonna have a crease, and so a bunch of Samsung users are like, cool, cool folding phone iPhone, neat. Uh I don't know. What do you think about the folding phone thing in general? Do you want a folding phone? No. At all. No. Okay, good. I don't either.
Just feel like it's gonna break really easily.
They've really done a lot with the durability of the OLED.
I know that they have, but I
just it's not, I've I don't want that big heavy folded phone.
Yeah, it's like thick when it's folded.
I mean, uh it's it they've done a pretty good job at keeping it as skinny as they can, and and that's okay. It's just it's large and it's a crazy shape. They've they've done a weird thing with the shape.
This says the first foldable iPhone. Yeah. Um it it says because it's an iPhone, it holds its value longer than all other smartphones. What does that even mean? And switching from Android is easy. Oh, good.
It holds its value more. What does that mean? I don't know. Is there a big phone resale market that I'm missing out on? I don't think so. Like anybody who has a phone, just if you're gonna do a trade in, you trade it into the company. You don't care about resale value. What does that even mean? I don't know. Here's what I know.
I know that I sometimes hate smartphones, and I wish we could just go back to a day where you just had a phone that you could call and tap. You can still just get that.
I know you can. You do all of the research. You are the one who's like, this is the one that has the best features.
This is the one that has the best statistics. That's why we've always been Android people. Okay. Uh I just don't want an Apple because I think Apple people are bullies. They are.
I tell you. They they think they're superior, don't you? They do. Yeah. So the iPhone duo, two grand. The new iPhone 18 is 1200.
Get out of here. How dumb. We gotta stop. This is insane. I know. I won't be buying that. I didn't think you would. No.
Uh the the new one, because you've got the pixel ten. The new Pixel 11, just by comparison, is uh like five hundred and thirty dollars. Get out of here. Just so you know, it's like less than half the price of the uh still insane.
And that's uh to be fair, was that the pro I was looking at? I don't even know what I was looking for. I don't remember 18, but it doesn't matter. Umway.
Function I'll go spend a thousand dollars on a new phone. That sounds like a great time.
No, I just let's go back to a Nokia. Yeah. That was That was the noise that it used to make. What was it? No, I'm not doing it. I'm sorry.
I I don't think you did it the right way. But let's hear it one more time. Three, two, one, go.
What I love is when I surprise you by making sound effects and you go, Oh, I wasn't expecting your face goes, ooh, excite. Yeah. So what was it? Nope, was that was not it.
Hey, would you rather this or that?
Would you rather have mud squelching between your toes or coffee dripping from your nose? What are you a poet? What is this?
Squelching between your toes. What is that? Like just squished? Yeah. Mud between my toes. Welch. Or coffee dripping from my nose. I'm taking the mud in my toes. Me too. And I don't even want to be barefoot, but I'd rather that than a wet nose. I kind of like muds between my toes.
Yeah, it's kind of it feels kind of. I like it. It's a tactile thing.
Yeah, gross tactile thing.
I like sensory stuff like that. I want a wet face. I don't want a wet face. I don't like I don't like sticky things on my hands, and I don't like stuff dripping from my nose. All right. Okay. Two things you may not have known about me. I mean, I did.
I don't like it when the fridge handle has debris on it and I have to feel that. I don't like that either. I don't like that either. I don't like when the floor has crumbs on it and I touch them with my feet. Yeah, me neither.
Someone should really clean the house more. Yeah.
It sounds like we live in a pig style. Yeah, really do you? Do not live in a pig stock. I do not. I don't like going barefoot on floors because I don't like feeling stuff with my feet. I just should be able to do it. So mud in my toes sounds like better than a wet nose, but it sounds gross. Yeah.
I but I you think mud between your toes sounds gross. I think that sounds awesome. No. I like it. No. I do. I I would prefer not.
I'll just wear shoes. Okay. All right. You do you boop? Okay. Would you rather this or that? You've got me doing this test. What is this thing? Okay.
So this is an Enneagram test. And this is it's a test to help you. It's like a personality test. Uh it helps you discover your core personality type so that you can understand your deepest motivations, fears and emotional patterns. Okay.
And it's a number scale, I guess. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay.
So then like you get your, you take the test and then you get your your number, your Enneagram number. Okay. So I just had you take it. I'm surprised that you took it.
because you hate this kind of stuff. I'm trying to take another one and I'm almost done with it here. So I'm gonna while you were kind of explaining this and maybe talking about uh what the numbers mean a little bit. Do you have a guide of like, is it a scale? Is it like one to ten? Like uh sure. Oh, okay. I don't know.
Uh let me look it up. Why did you take another one?
Because I found another one that's gonna give me a better result according to the internet, so I want to see if this one would give me more depth.
It's a scale of one to nine. And the numbers are just different. Personality types. That's it. Okay. What did your first one?
The first one came out with a five. Okay. The investigator. Right, which is what I what I was kind of learning here is that uh fives are alert, insightful, and curious. Able to concentrate and focus on developing complex ideas and skills. Yes.
Independent, innovative, and inventive. Yes. They can also become preoccupied with their thoughts and imaginary construct.
Yes. They become detached, yet high strung and intense. They typically have problems with excentricity, nihilism, and isolation at their best, visionary pioneers, often ahead of their time and able to see the world in an entirely new way. That's what it said about a friend.
I absolutely believe that suits you. All right. I got a two. What's that mean? I'm a I'm a helper. Oh, okay. Or it or a giver. Okay. I am caring, generous, and people pleasing, but may struggle to maintain personal boundaries. I'm deeply tuned to the feelings, thoughts, and unexpressed needs of people around me, but I put the comfort and welfare of others far ahead of my own. I which is not always true.
It has its time and place for sure.
My core desire is to feel loved, wanted, and appreciated and acknowledged for my contributions, and I fear being unwanted, unworthy of love, or dispensable to others. Interesting. Do you think that fits me?
Are you gonna be offended if I say yes? No. Because I feel like as a two, you might know.
I I absolutely think that this is my type. Yeah. I am empathetic, sincere, and warm hearthearted. But I can be sentimental, flattering, and people pleasing. That is absolutely me. I believe that I am a two.
You bel you you believe. You say yeah, that's accurate. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think that's me. So when it breaks down my basic fear, it says being useless, helpless, and incapable. And the desire is to be capable and competent, which I think is interesting.
Do you agree? I don't know. I mean, I I want to be useful and helpful and all of those things.
So I would say yes. Like I want to be able to contribute. Um, it was interesting because these questions were a lot about like how do you uh handle emotions and how do you handle like power and like there's so many like really interesting questions in this test, this enneagram uh test.
But uh anyway. It's very interesting. And I'm curious to know like at what level in the type I am, because if you come down to the bottom, you get like healthy average and unhealthy levels. Uh-huh. And I don't know what level of a type five I am.
Let's see what it says. What do you mean? So it breaks it down like an unhealthy level, a level nine in a type five is like seeking oblivion. I don't know what that means. Like deranged, explosively self-destructive.
Like you? No, that's level nine. Oh level one at its best is a visionary broadly comprehending the world while uh you know, thinking about it profoundly, open-minded, taking things in in their whole, uh in true context, making pioneering discoveries.
So that's one side of it, and the other side is like destruction. So it's very I want to know where I fall on the level scale. Okay. Here's what it says about a type two and a type five.
I was looking that up just now.
It's right down here at the bottom of the results. It says twos and fives are double opposites, as it were. Oh no. A people, person versus a loner, a feeling type with a thinking type. Yes. Twos and fives come from different points of view on what's important in life and in a relationship, and yet, because they are so different, they can also be an intense attraction to the mystery of the other. Ooh.
I definitely end the feeler, and you are more of a thinker. Right. For sure. Yeah. But we've known that forever. Yeah. Correct. Look at that. Yeah.
It says uh twos bring to the relationship a willingness to take the initiative and to pursue the five to be the first one to call or ask for a date, no matter which gender they are. Uh, when healthy, twos bring warm comfort and ease. Uh for their part, fives are usually very loyal.
They find relationships complex and difficult, so they tend to value one that begins to work and they tend to put energy into it. Hey. Fives bring stability and quiet. Cute. Yeah. Look at us. Double opposite. Double opposite. Opposite opposites. Opposite opposite. I don't know what that means.
It's working. It's working.
Anyway, kind of interesting.
It is interesting. Thanks for taking it. I'm surprised that you.
Yeah, well, it'll I want to finish this other one and see if it also says that I'm a five. So anyway, we'll find out. I'll finish it up and then we'll go from there. But that's going to wrap up the show today.
Happy day. Happy Thursday. One day closer. Two? Friday. Meat Weekend. Have a great Thursday. We'll see you back here tomorrow.
