Charted

What is Charted?

Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.

The effort to bless others will react in blessings upon ourselves.

As I left my last class for the afternoon, I let out a sigh of pure
exhaustion. The temptation to indulge in a self-pity party seemed
almost irresistible. Suddenly, I remembered the goal I had made for
myself that morning: let God use me to bless someone else, instead of
focusing on my own problems. Sending up a quick prayer for strength
and guidance, I started down the stairs for orchestra practice.
Beep! The second bell pronounced me tardy as I strolled into
the auditorium. Scanning the room, my eyes caught sight of my friend
sitting hunched over in her chair—exhausted, just like me. Go give her
a hug, a still, small voice inside me prompted.
But I’m late, and I’m so tired myself, I argued. However, the
impression only grew stronger. I was just about to pass her when, like
a lightning bolt, the prayer I had prayed just moments earlier flashed
into my mind. Stopping dead in my tracks, I turned around and tapped
her on the shoulder. When she looked up, I stretched out my arms and
enveloped her in a warm hug. For a moment, no words were needed;
my actions spoke loud enough.
“Thank you,” she smiled, “that was just what I needed.” A
sweet satisfaction filled my heart, knowing that I had followed God’s
leading and let Him use me to bless someone else. Later that evening,
the same friend offered to give me a massage at worship. Gratefully,
I accepted and praised God for the double blessing. I realized that by
taking a moment to unselfishly help a friend, it not only made her day
better but turned my day around as well.
