Yeah. The state that I left the surf club, at Noosa on. You had to so I had I had a sore head pretty early, but I mean, I, I was already had a bit of head loss, but from beers and beaches and racing, but, once again, just another, spectacle, trough on it. It was a great weekend.

You got people everywhere triathletes. There's signs all over it like all over Hastings Street. The expo is just huge. All down Noosa Parade. Like, there's just it, just so many people. I can't believe how many people are actually in Noosa on that one weekend. Yeah. You can't find a park anywhere? No, it's bum posted bumper walking down Hastings Street.

Yeah. There's. Yeah. So many people. Everyone's just, you know happy go lucky there racing everyone. Yeah it's great honestly if it's if you're somewhat into triathlon, if you're interested in doing your first one, maybe like Noosa triathlon is where it's at. But at the same time, be quick because the tickets sell out very quick, you won't be able to just jump on.

So if it's a it's definitely a bucket list race for any. It's my suggestion. For a bucket list race for anybody. That's interested in if you're not going to an Ironman or anything like that. I think the best Olympic distance race on the planet. It's Noosa. Yeah, it's. And like we said, the festival getting there Friday, all the events.

I think that's what builds it. And we said it last time, all of the events. But you don't realize how much the events throughout the week, in the days prior build up to the anticipation. Yeah. Of yeah, the there's so many people doing the events. I forgot how many people actually go do the sweep. Yeah, I did the swim and it was packed and it was pretty poor conditions, but people were lining up to do that.

Light entries to get into the swim line. Yeah, I know Jack Stiles. It was like he's racing on the Sunday. Did he do it? Yeah, he did this. Oh well it's like yeah, I'm just going to enter because you know how many people are doing I'm on as well. Yeah. Yeah. Awesome. Oh that's really cool. Now and again like we said like we're we'll speak to the female winner just full of, a bit later on in the episode, but, like she said, she's like, yeah, this very much lived up to the hype.

So to have an international athlete come in and like, hey, you got the best athletes, not just in Australia, but in the world and the world line out. What was your high? My high? I think it was just. Yeah. The atmosphere, the people there, everyone was happy. I think it was kind of a cool little roll that all was doing. With the podcast telling you. Yeah, it was something new, something different. I mean, a bit of FOMO, not racing, but I think it helped that I was doing something else.

It was cool to, you know, pick the brains of the couple of, like, world Olympic champions, the winners. Yeah, people are listening and people are watching and it's it's that like, yeah, I mean, we can look at our socials and it's like it's it really is something that people, people are invested in. So that was definitely the high. Yeah. I mean, obviously like it wasn't my race day, but just the race in general.

Like it is just race. Such a cool race to be a part of. And there's not a lot of times where like, I probably shouldn't have been, but I was, as we were walking down to the start line, I looked back and just seeing the the crowd like, I'm like, oh my God, there are thousands of people watching me right now.

But then the thousands of athletes on the beach just waiting to start as well. I think that's cool. Like they're there. Obviously most of them are there because their wave is, you know, sort of upcoming. But just like even saw the the videos that that I saw of us running up the chute and just like, like when we're running over Hastings straight away running into transition, honestly, there's just a sea of people like and there's again, for for athletes like us, there's there's not a lot of chances where you have a crowd that big, especially domestically.

And this. Yeah. Unless it's, you know, a world champs in Australia. The last one before Wollongong was 2018. So was that seven years ago? Yeah. So it doesn't come around often. But news is that one race where you can really that massive crowd, it's like gladiatorial. Yeah. Yeah. And you don't you don't notice I didn't notice it when I was racing.

So like when I was racing obviously very much in the zone, locked in, looking at the person in front of me, everything is just outside noise. And I didn't I didn't notice any of it until looking at social media or looking at photos, often going, this is me running down this like transition shoot. And there are just literally thousands of people either side, like screaming.

She's like, yeah. And it's like, again, like I said, when you're in that moment, it's just outside noise. Like, that's all it is. It's outside noise. But looking at it reflecting back, I go, wow, this will we're part of something pretty special here. And I don't think news is going anywhere. Well, this is, I think, a race, especially with the international crew that came over to race it or stayed here to race it.

Yeah, I think that really brought something else this year as well. It was a great representation. Yeah, that there are people from overseas coming here and and they all spoke about how iconic like they've heard of it. They say how iconic it is. And like how cool it is to be here with so many people and racing like, it's more of a fun race for them.

Yeah, still means a lot. Yeah, but to have so many people there, I think, yeah, that was pretty cool that there was so many internationals. Just one next to just full sugar next to a whole heap of age groups.

And we all like just sat in the surface. Yeah, just sat in the surf with jugs of beer and just having a good time. Just go blond like it's. It's just as fun. It's the end of season. Get to the campsite, set up, set up shop, make the most bubbly cool. Bloody thunderstorm comes in. Hail, lightning all at once. Absolutely drenches the tent.

Everything's going everywhere. There's trees falling on the tent, mate. It was an absolute disaster. Like flooding. I was soaked head to toe, myself cozy. And, Stella, she got in the car. I said, get in the.

And and, get the car out of the hail. But, yeah, that was an absolute mission. If anybody was hit it. Anybody who follows us on Instagram and if you guys saw the video that light and put up, I, I honestly, I watched it about ten times before and I think you'd call me, but I didn't I didn't really realize I didn't put two and two together because again, when you're in race mode, I was just raced by, but I looked at the video and I thought, oh my God, we just got wiped out.

It was like, yeah, it was horrible. Cyclone Alfred just hit that campsite and I think the rest of news are all at once. And I was in there trying to pitch my bloody tent and it's flying away and I'm trying not to fly away with it. I think it was probably worse than what I was thinking I was in.

Like the tents were flooded. We went back the next day. Everything was absolutely destroyed. Yeah. But, thanks to Dan Atkins and Philco, they saved the day and let us crash on their couch.

Yeah, don't have a phone. And I've walked up and down James Street and they've the Hastings, James's Palace. I mean, I was a bit, I was a little bit disappointed with not disappointed, but the Super Saturday didn't feel as super like I think because again, that it was a little bit rushed with the, like the weather warning and it was like it didn't really, especially when you're racing on the Sunday. And I had to check my bike in and, you know, you want to be able to do that, have the big crowd.

I feel like the crowd wasn't, as big as what it usually is because people were trying to get out of the wet. So like, usually it's a much more relaxed afternoon. You know, everyone's sort of there watching the races, but yeah, it felt like everyone was preparing for the worst. So like, I even though, like, some of my, like, my family and friends, they were staying on Noosa Parade, so like only a couple hundred meters down from the finish line.

But they still all went and watched the boat from inside just in case it started raining. So I thought that kind of took away from. And I'm sure there's plenty of other people that did. So yeah, I think and again, that was for me, the Saturday was my most the thing I was most excited about.

We'll just very briefly touch on this because we don't know the full story yet, but we've recently discovered there was a bit of an incident at the finish line. I'm not exactly sure I'm I'm guessing from the look and what I've been told, he was in the 55 to 60 year old category. Anyway, if you haven't seen, there's a bit of vision going around the internet at the moment. If we click this up, we'll we'll add the vision into it. But there is a young, I believe, 16 year old kid who raised in the, he raced in a mixed team relay whatnot, just having a bit of fun with mates again on a Noosa weekend.

And he got stuck behind this elderly gentleman in Chad because anybody that doesn't know year can get a little bit. It can get pretty packed. And if you're racing during the day, you've got a lot of athletes coming through a pretty sketchy corridor trying to get through to the finish line. 8000 people on ten K round course. Exactly.

Anyway, he gets to the finish, the line, goes back over to shake this elderly man's hand, and the man just charges at the end. You like, pushes him. Almost looks like he's about to knock him out. Like, oh yeah. Then you got to see running over going, I'm about to separate, separate these two guys in life from a 16 year old, a 55 year old. Todd Thomas is in ski and Jackson's in ski. Two triathletes race on the weekend there, brother Lockland. Hey, I heard this when I got there. So because it is just such a busy weekend, this new social club is is where it's at.

Yeah, most of us don't really get there until about 1 to 2:00. I think I'll, I got there at three. I didn't get there till five. Yeah I go there at three and there was a couple of people there and he says, yeah, I've been here since 1030, so. And, and I left before him as well. So lucky says as nearly I have done this over 12 hours, I'm assuming if he's left at about 10 p.m., luck is is in ski, sat at that surf club for about 12 hours.
