[00:00:00] [00:00:15] [00:00:30]

Jamie: What up? What up? Good on Good.

Welcome to the Sleuth podcast people. Welcome, welcome. [00:00:45] Yes, we are at episode 38. We are getting ready to give you some real stories from real PIs in the field so that you know how to operate in your life and. have some assistance with some crazy situations that may be [00:01:00] going on.

I see a

cohost: couple real PIs here today.

Jamie: We do. Oh my gosh. I'm here

cohost: today. Hello.

Jamie: That sultry voice that you here, there on the line. This is Devin. Hey Devin. Hi. [00:01:15] How are you this morning?

Devin: I'm good

Jamie: talking to mic. Am I not talking? I feel like I can't hear you. Okay, I hear you on loud time. Can you hear me now? Yes, ma'am.

Okay. Okay. Good. Verizon commercial. What's up,

cohost: Joe? Hi. I don't have a mic. Oh, you don't have mic [00:01:30] Mike, let Joe. Oh, he's

Jamie: a, okay. Well if you have something, just shout it out. We'll hear you. All right. What's going on? We, you know, black Detective Services is here. We're here, we're in the building today, in the podcast lab.

why are we here? We're here to share with you one of our [00:01:45] team members Devin. She is a newer field investigator. we found Devin in a way that is probably unlike the norm. And so we're gonna talk a little bit about that and kind of share her story and kind of her experience with black detective [00:02:00] services and of course do all the fun things that we always do.

So,

cohost: but first, but first drum roll. What are we drinking today?

Jamie: Starbucks lab. Yeah. What do we have? I'm having my medicine ball this morning. I need the hot lemonade, [00:02:15]

cohost: the medicine ball. I think Joe has some thoughts on your medicine ball. What was, I don't remember the, the steam, the hot lemonade or whatever

Jamie: it was.

It was about the steamy lemonade. It's that we're paying for lot steam lemonade. I didn't even know you could get

cohost: lemonade. Something like that at

Devin: [00:02:30] Starbucks.

Jamie: So it's the honey citrus mint tea.

cohost: Oh no. Yeah, so it's like, that's Friday. Yeah. Two

Jamie: teas and lemonade and some sweetener something. And it's excellent.

So it's good when you're not like maybe feeling great. And I really am kind of [00:02:45] over caffeine sometimes, so I just

cohost: Oh, as, as the girl who got the ice decaf. These are interesting. Caramel macchiato. Miss Brooke over here is a little, I'm all tapped out with the caffeine. I have to be

Devin: careful with it myself.

[00:03:00] Especially if I'm sitting in the car all day. Well, you're drinking the same thing as me, Devin. Mine's not decaf.

Jamie: Hers is full throttle. Oh, okay. Well good luck with that. So what is this? Just all milk and then they put the espresso on top? [00:03:15]

cohost: Yes. Is that what this, it's layered and then you gotta shake it manually.

What are they shaking? Which bigger,

Jamie: they didn't shake these.

cohost: Yes. We gotta swirl the milk. You know, it's all in the wrist. Really.

Joe: I don't think you're supposed to shake a ma out. Isn't that kinda like, 'cause they do [00:03:30] go through all the extra work of making it layered and then you just shake it up in front of 'em.

And then

cohost: how am I doing over here? First is always gonna be all, all coffee. It's like the melting pot of coffees. You know what I'm saying? Like, it's like make your own s'mores or fondue or whatever and

Jamie: all the make your own [00:03:45] caramel is at the bottom. Now. I don't wanna work. Once I get the drink, I need it, it to already be together.

cohost: It's like, it's like packing your own bags at the grocery store.

Jamie: I hate it. I am not excited about this self [00:04:00] checkout section now at my neighborhood food line.

cohost: Oh really? Oh really? Yeah. I kind of like it.

Jamie: No, I don't like it because I don't wanna work. I came here to just get my stuff and if you could ring it up for me, that'll be nice.

While, 'cause I'm probably on the phone or like texting or doing something else that's [00:04:15] scary. I don't wanna ring up my groceries. You are especially, especially have a lot of produce. Now I got to become Dagg Produce manager. A good one. I'm like, bananas are 40 11. I know that, right? Yes. [00:04:30] That's awesome.

Joe: I don't like how they touted as like, it's good for you.

Like, we're saving you time. No, you're not doing job. You're taking jobs from people that could have been, and you, Jeff, and they're staring at me

Jamie: while I'm doing the work. Oh. Just the one person

Joe: with the death stare just, they've got nothing behind their eyes. [00:04:45] They haven't paid attention in the last hour and a half.

You're like, yeah, okay.

Jamie: And as soon as you get a beer, they're like nowhere to be found. Now I need to, I need you to come over here and allow me to buy the beer, please. It is very like, because I'm

Joe: almost, I'm closer to 50 than I am [00:05:00] to 40, and it's like, really? I gotta wait for the beer. Just

Jamie: like you have a button.

Do they think they have a button, like on their little. Little handheld device like that. They can click the beer button.

Joe: They got a camera. I mean the camera. [00:05:15]

Jamie: I know, I know. Dude. AI just hook, they just work with AI

Joe: and just look at my id. You're gonna try to make me do the work. That's probably, they're probably working on that.

Jamie: Yeah. Ugh. Okay. So, hot topics.

cohost: Hot topics. What's

Jamie: important? I got a [00:05:30] spicy topic. Tell me

cohost: Spicy topic. I mean, it could be Jamir. So recently in the spirit of observation as we are investigators here, something that I've observed is an uptick in [00:05:45] romance readers. Okay. Now are you guys bookstore? Girlies slash slash man.

Okay. Okay. Very good. Very good. I like how she's, so when you go to bookstores, you'll notice that one of the largest [00:06:00] sections they have now is romance. And a lot of this is due to social media, things like book talk or book tube or Bookstagram, but in the nature of coving season,

Jamie: right? Oh, Bookstagram

cohost: books.

I started one. [00:06:15] I started one.

Jamie: Of course you did. Yeah. I

cohost: gotta get back into it.

Jamie: Reminder. Okay. What is this? It's an Instagram for books.

cohost: Yes. And it's kind of like you share the books, you've read, the books you've loved, the books you have not loved, et cetera. [00:06:30] Okay. Those bookish fives, a few things like that, but

Devin: yeah.

Okay. Devon. But some of the stuff they recommend, they're not good. Oh no. Oh no, no, no, no. It's

cohost: tragic like brain cells [00:06:45] have been lost. May they rest in peace. But anyhoo, and, and I wonder because this is a time of year when you know folks. Look for a significant other because it's cozy and it's holiday time and speaking in generalities.

Of [00:07:00] course, you know, I got my kins. I'm good. But we all know I'm good. It just makes me wonder, are folks substituting, getting out into the real world, meeting people for the solace of these romantic books and having [00:07:15] fictional book boyfriends and whatnot? You know, I agree. I'm concerned for the people, but then when it ends, it ends like, I mean, true in real life too, but yeah, I know what you mean.

Keep going with that.

Jamie: It is over. It [00:07:30] always

cohost: ends. I mean, even if you find forever. Okay, this. They're so sad. This is stupid. Anyway, so that's what's been on my mind.

Jamie: Well, that's interesting. That was a good

Joe: transition. You missed. And to be like, and speaking of forever ends, [00:07:45]

Jamie: whoops.

Joe: Call up Plaquemine detective.

Jamie: Yeah. Aw, that is so sad. Oh Lord. I just, you know, domestic is one of our, you know, best money makers. It is, and it is [00:08:00] never going anywhere. People will always be in relationships. They will always have children. There will always be messiness and the drama. So that's good for us. And that will always be working

Devin: fun for me, you know?

Jamie: But

Devin: job security, it's a job security for sure.

Jamie: But this is, [00:08:15] it is depressing when everybody's relationships are falling apart. And, I mean, and I'm not married, having been married, not anywhere near married. And to be honest, the job certainly doesn't help. You know, even [00:08:30] after, I think I just snorted even I,

cohost: it, do it again.

Joe: I would, I would've edited it out. But now we got this great conversation about it.

cohost: I

Joe: need it, it repeat it.[00:08:45]

Jamie: Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, I don't know. Domestic cases, they are what they are. And so, you know, speaking of domestic, I've wanted to play this little game with us today. Mm-Hmm. Since we have Devin here, and with her being new to the team, you know, sometimes they, she know she hasn't come [00:09:00] across all of the crazy, right?

Not yet. Not yet. Not yet. Oh, it's on the way. You know, you just take it in stride. So I figured we'd do like a what would you do? Right? Okay. So I'm gonna give you a couple of [00:09:15] scenarios on the, you know, throughout the show. And some of them are funny, you know. Oh dear. So, I don't know. I'm like, do we have, like, what's the Devon answer?

Because Devon's spicy, y'all, if you don't know, I'm like, do I have That's the Southern Yeah. Do [00:09:30] have the calm dev answer and then like, what's the pi answer? Okay. But, you know, be the PI first. Okay. And then be like, but if I really, you know, then you can say what you wanna say, because some of these I'm like, poof.

Okay. So, you're getting ready to wrap up a case that you've [00:09:45] been working. It's a cheater case and you have enough evidence that you can create a movie. So while you're out there doing surveillance the Paramore who is, you know, that's the one that's not married to our client, right? They're the mistress [00:10:00] Yes.

Or the mis. Right, but he spots you and comes over and starts flirting. Completely unaware that, you know,

Devin: oh Lord,

Jamie: what would Devin [00:10:15] do?

Devin: Oh man.

Oh God. The pi answer, right?

Jamie: Yeah.

Devin: Well, obviously I'm going, I'm going. I'm married, but thanks [00:10:30] and then I'm gonna leave. Is that the pi answer? Yeah,

Jamie: I don't think that's the pi answer. What would you really do? Is that your real? That would be a real Devin's answer.

Devin: I would probably entertain it for a little bit just to see what I got out of it.

[00:10:45] Asking questions and thank Good girl. You got a girl? Got a friend? Yeah. What been up? Like I don't already know. Right,

Jamie: right. Let's, are you gonna actually admit to me that you are with this lady? That would be fantastic.

Devin: Yeah. And be recording it the [00:11:00] whole time. Yes ma'am.

Jamie: That's my girl. Okay.

cohost: See,

Devin: that wasn't,

cohost: that wasn't

Devin: scary.

cohost: No.

Devin: Okay. It would be in real life.

Jamie: Oh my gosh.

Devin: What you mean? Would you be surprised at how many times [00:11:15] you can come across them and they'll look straight at you and I'm like just walking around and just minding my own business. Yeah. I've always thought about what I would do in that situation, so, you know, you never [00:11:30] know.

Jamie: Yeah. I call it tuck and roll, you know, just go with it. Sometimes it might be weird, but, you know, gather what intel you can, and try to keep it moving without, you know, getting burnt. Yeah. But definitely aren't [00:11:45] gonna call him out and be like, I know it's you, you're cheating. Absolutely not. The first time I think I worked like when I was newer to the field, I remember working this case and we were downtown Raleigh and he was picking her [00:12:00] up at a, at her apartment or something, and they were coming out of the parking garage.

I'm sitting there with my camera, like I'm on the, I'm out the car now. 'cause at this point I just couldn't keep, he was driving back and forth. I, I was, I was going out. I was like, where's gonna be my best, [00:12:15] you know, angle to get what I'm trying to get? Mm-Hmm. And I think it was like, either, it was a weird time of day, so the sun was kind of in the way, so I was like, I just gotta get outta the car.

cohost: Yeah.

Jamie: So I'm standing by the wall, by this brick wall with like the camera on one edge of it. And I'm sitting over here [00:12:30] in the other, and he's, and she gets in the car and I'm like, slut, oh my God, this is not your husband. And I wanted to run out there and be like, whatcha y'all doing What? Doing this?

You're not supposed to be over here picking up this [00:12:45] lady, you know? Obvious. So, you know, oh, emotions kind of go rampant, you know? Now I'm just like, here's another one. Yeah. You know, but I used to be like shocked and then, you know, very disturbed every time people were like actually cheating. [00:13:00] So, yeah,

cohost: your soul died a little bit more.

Time, time. I not just, it's withered. So now I'm

Jamie: just like, who's not doing? We all used to it. Yeah, right. That's terrible. Okay.

cohost: My espresso is now de presso from this conversation.[00:13:15]

Alright, so are we ready for a little interview? Yeah, let's talk about it. I think we're, yay. Devin, who are you?

Devin: Who are you?

cohost: Who are you?

Devin: Who am I?

cohost: What? Oh God. An [00:13:30] existential crisis. Now

Devin: I don't know who I am really. Val, do you wanna know where I'm from? What a Yeah.

Jamie: Well, we're not gonna tell all your business.

cohost: Let's, let's chat about your background and where you're from and, okay. Well, how do you find your way to us?

Devin: I'm from [00:13:45] Dunn. Very small. Not a lot out there. Very tiny, not very exciting. Started working in retail as my first job. Okay. And I made a career out of that and I wanted to see how far I could go, and that's where I really thought I was [00:14:00] going to be until this past year and a half.

Mm-Hmm. I just looked around at everything and I was like, I don't wanna do this every day. I don't wanna be 40 years old and finally be promoted.

Jamie: Yeah.

Devin: [00:14:15] Why would you promote me at 40 years old when I'm ready to work now? Right. I don't want to be doing 12 hour days when I'm 40 years old. So, what were

Jamie: you doing?

Devin: Yeah. What kind of retail? Produce. I've stayed in produce most of the time. I've done cake decorating and things [00:14:30] of that nature, but produce was like my thing and what I was good at, so I stuck with that. I went in and out of it for a while. Because I was trying to learn everything so that I could say, yeah, I could do this.

Yeah, I can do that. Mm-Hmm. So I went back into [00:14:45] that and I was a produce manager for a little bit. And then when I finally wanted to pursue private investigator, I stepped down and I actually reached out to a family member that is connected to Allison Mm-Hmm. And [00:15:00] Allison said, Hey, call me. So that's what we did.

And here I am. So it worked out. Yay. Yay. We're happy to have you. I'm so excited. I love it. Yes.

Jamie: I'm always like worried [00:15:15] that it's too much sometimes. 'cause some people just get overwhelmed with it. Right. I mean, and it's, you know, sometimes it's a lot, sometimes it is, you know, calm. But, you know, how's that going?

Devin: It's going, [00:15:30] you know, I'm the type of person that does get overwhelmed with things, but. Sometimes you just need to take a deep breath and then you keep going. Yeah. It doesn't, hit me like that. I don't wanna do this anymore. I don't want, yeah. I can't handle it. No. I just keep going and [00:15:45] the next day is a new day.

Mm-Hmm. And then we keep going. So

cohost: I think truthfully, no matter what you do, you're gonna run into feelings of overwhelm. Oh yeah. Eventually. And I think something that's important to keep in mind is that being a private investigator, it's one of those lifestyle [00:16:00] careers. You know what I mean? Yeah. Mm-Hmm.

Like you have to fall in love with the lifestyle in order to be able to keep up with its many challenges. True. Oh yeah.

Jamie: I love the lifestyle. I don't know what I do if I wasn't doing PI work at this point. My life is probably, I'm doing, I feel [00:16:15] like I'm doing things all the time in many different areas, but I kind of like that.

cohost: You would be a good comedian. Poof. I would go to your shows. Would

Jamie: you?

cohost: Yes.

Jamie: Front row. Oh my goodness. I get all nervous. It'd be like my 30 [00:16:30] seconds at, you know, B and I when I'm sweat arms sweating.

Devin: Make a joke about it. Oh my gosh. It was, at least you can talk in front of people. That's like my biggest fear is like standing in front of a whole crowd, but I'm

Jamie: barely there.

Devin, [00:16:45] barely there. One time I went to one, one networking thing. There was so many people. I stood up, no lie, I felt like I was about to pass out. I stood. I was like, whew, there's a lot of y'all out

Devin: here in school. When we had to do presentations, I would take the zero. [00:17:00] Damn. That's how bad it was. I could probably do it now.

Much easier. But back then, no.

cohost: I think it depends on the crowd of individuals. Oh. If it's people who are greasing, no

Devin: problem. I know. If I've [00:17:15] gotta stand up and talk about produce. Okay. I could do that.

Jamie: By the way, she makes a mean vegetable tray.

cohost: I've heard, I've heard the rumors. Oh yeah, you did. I wasn't outside that.

Yeah.

Jamie: I was like, [00:17:30] yes, Devin. Well,

cohost: something came outta it, I guess. When's the next event? December, right?

Jamie: December 3rd.

cohost: Bring the tray. Yes, we've already got it. Perfect. Perfect. We've got the trays

Jamie: there ready to go. Perfect. Yeah, if y'all wanna network with us eat

cohost: [00:17:45] some

Jamie: vegetables. Eat some good veggies.

cohost: Yeah.

Jamie: November, November 3rd. December the third. December the third. It's a Tuesday. We'll be at our office upstairs having a grand old time.

cohost: What time?

Jamie: Four 30 Okay. I believe is what [00:18:00] time we're there? 4 37. And then we do our little after party. She and dig at the yard house. Downtown, downtown, downstairs.

So, yeah. Okay.

cohost: Yeah. So, Deon, tell us more about your [00:18:15] mindset, your approach, your process when it comes to investigations.

Devin: Okay. So usually the night before, I try to keep it fresh in my mind and Greg taught me that as well. I read through everything the [00:18:30] night before.

Jamie: We got a shout out, Greg. 'cause I was like, oh yeah. Dang. I ain't taught Devin anything. Greg has done all the teaching. Well, we, we've

Devin: been out in the field more. No, like I was just like, it's sometimes I [00:18:45] will reach out to him if I have a question or like, if I'm like unsure of like a situation.

Jamie: Greg is our, one of our seasoned veteran investigators, he's been doing PI work about as long as I've been living.[00:19:00]

So he's got a really good knack for these things. So that's the Greg that she's talking about.

Devin: But I will go and read everything that we have. And then I like to go through social media a lot too. Yes. Because some of the pictures that we get.

Jamie: Mm.

Devin: They [00:19:15] don't look quite like what they really look like. So I will go dive into that part of it as a big thing.

Because when I'm telling you some of these people will look different. Mm-Hmm.

Jamie: Right. So it's interesting. Clients always provide you the [00:19:30] picture that they want.

Devin: Yeah. You to

Jamie: see I'm, that their person looks like I'm, I could have

Devin: picked that person out in a lineup. Right? Like, whatcha you sending me? Don't you want me to do my job?

Well,

Jamie: like they don't even look [00:19:45] like, thank God they're in the car with that tag. Yeah. 'cause other than that, I'm not even sure if I would've been able to identify the person

Devin: and I will write my notes down so I have it right in the morning. If I see that car, I need to be able to pick my notes up and be like, okay, that's it.

Jamie: Right. Confront me tag.

Devin: [00:20:00] Yeah. That's a big one for me.

Jamie: So we Provide like a plan of action sheet that has all of the important information on there. 'cause we work as a team, right? Everybody kind of has a job. Everybody does their job well, and [00:20:15] then, you know, we set, you know, Devon up for success when she goes out there in the field so that she's got pictures, tag numbers, addresses, what are we trying to do, what's the goal?

Are there any specific things that we need to be paying [00:20:30] attention to while we're in the field? And so, and then at that point it's on. So you gal Yeah.

cohost: Sorry. But do you face any common challenges? Would you say, other than the catfishing photos, [00:20:45]

Devin: if you will? Sometimes I have to remind myself that I have to stay patient when I'm out there.

Oh, that's challenging. That is very challenging. And I've dealt with a DH, ADHD my whole life. Mm-Hmm. So I never thought that I could sit in a car for 12 hours, but look at you. Look at me, [00:21:00] look at you. But what keeps me going is that element of surprise. You never know.

Joe: Right? Yeah. They

Devin: can walk out right now.

Yeah. And I've got it right. You know? So that's what I really love about it. And I just keep that in the back of my head a lot of times [00:21:15] because I want to be perfect at everything. And that's sometimes there's gonna be a tree in the way. Sometimes the sun's gonna be in my eyes, sometimes my windshield's dirty, you know?

Yeah. Sometimes you gotta hide behind a car to get some [00:21:30] video, you know? You never know what you're gonna have to do. So that.

Jamie: Just GPSs, what'd you feel about GPSs?

Devin: Oh gosh, that's a loaded question.

Jamie: You did so good. Her first tracker [00:21:45] she put on, I

Devin: rolled up under that car and rolled right back out.

She like, I got it on. I was like, where? She was like, at the bank. I was like, what? He went in and I, I [00:22:00] ran over there. That was so funny. I love doing trackers because it gives you that adrenaline rush. Oh yeah, girl. I know. And sometimes I can't get up under there. Like I had to put Tracker on the other day and some of these people that we follow have these very [00:22:15] expensive cars.

Mm-Hmm.

Jamie: And

Devin: I was like, there ain't nowhere to stick this thing. And I have to get my head up under there with my whole body, stick it out from up under the car. I'm like, well, they saw that and probably think I'm crazy. So [00:22:30]

Joe: do you have like pre-made excuses made up like, oh, drop my keys. Like you got something.

Devin: Yeah. But I try, I tried to get beside the car so that my car shields me from everybody else.

Jamie: Right. So you're not just totally [00:22:45] exposed there. And

Devin: sometimes I'll leave my car door open and act like I'm like playing around in my car, and then I'll just whoop.

Jamie: Yeah. I'm dip in my trunk open. I'm like, I'm looking for something in here.

When I did the one

Devin: the other night, there was somebody outside and I walked around on my passenger side and just [00:23:00] left the car door open and just stuck it up under there and got out. Yeah.

Joe: I like the idea that Jamie's doing a whole monologue, but nobody's actually watching. She's like, oh, I'm trying to find my cupcake.

Oh, I dropped it.

Devin: Oh, I better pick

Jamie: it up

Joe: now.

Devin: Why [00:23:15] don't you like

Jamie: doing the trackers? Because that whole rush that you like, that scares me. I am not serving the papers is what? Really, I don't like serving. You don't, girl. I love serving papers. People

cohost: can be a little grumpy. Grumpy. I don't [00:23:30] mind. Especially when I got yelled at the other day.

Devin: Yeah. I was like, well, I'm sorry.

Jamie: I was like,

Devin: what do you want me to do? Doing my

Jamie: job? That was like, look, I'm sorry I'm here. I'm just trying to do gifting papers. So [00:23:45] she's like, where's he at?

Devin: I know he's in there. That's his car. No, he ain't here.

Jamie: No. I, well, I guess, you know, if you ever need me to serve papers for you, it's a weird argument.

I'll help. [00:24:00] But, but a

Devin: lot of them have been really nice to me. Yeah. They like, they pat me on the back and start laughing. I'm like,

why did they pat you on the back and laughing? Because I, I will like, thank them for being like, oh, decent. [00:24:15] Yes. I'll be like, thank you for taking the papers. You know, thank you for not like hitting me in the face. That's, they're

cohost: hospitality coming out. Well, don't, that's all I've gotta say.

Jamie: Oh,

Devin: that's

cohost: spicy.[00:24:30]

Devin: Oh my God, my, okay. Okay. Usually they'll laugh at me and they'll like, oh my gosh, I knew these were coming. Thank you. I'm like, okay.

Jamie: No, you haven't gotten any of the harsh ones yet,

Devin: you know? Well, I try to look as good as [00:24:45] possible when I go,

Jamie: girl. 'cause don't help. It helps. You better be cute out there.

'cause then they're, they're trying to, oh, who is that? You know? That's, that, that, right. And then you're like, oh. And then they're like, oh shit. Lady's serving me papers. [00:25:00] That's what you get for being fast.

You, you should have just minded your own business, sir. Now you serving, I can't believe you, like serving the papers, so I Oh, I love it. I don't know. Did we talk about the one, the karaoke that's on one of our [00:25:15] yes. The newest letter, what The Man Was. And I'd be really quick 'cause I know we gotta keep mind full.

Yes. But the man was in his backyard. They were having Memorial Day cookout and I went late, probably like 8 39, which, you know, I don't agree with. [00:25:30] Yeah. I, I try to stay before nine and like,

Devin: we like the lot of day. Yes. We wanna make

Jamie: sure we're not like, startling anybody. I don't get shot because like, you didn't see me coming, you know, that's not good.

cohost: No, no. So say the least. Right.

Jamie: And [00:25:45] so he's singing some song, you know, he should have been singing Usher papers. Usher papers. But I, he got served in papers in the backyard while he was singing karaoke and he just walked

Devin: up in there and said, I did well, I, there you go.

Jamie: I was [00:26:00] looking cute as I could be.

I put me on a little cute little short skirt. So I, so I was standing at the back of the yard and I'm just like, Hey. Hey. And eventually I caught his eye and then he was like, looking like, who's that? And I was just like, [00:26:15] well, hey. And then he was like, come over. And I was like, can, can I come? I'm like, you me, I can come back.

Because, you know, I didn't, I didn't want him to like, I was just scared. Like, what [00:26:30] if they, like, I was going in my mind like, what if they like jumped me in the backyard? Sure. Like, who is this chick? And then everybody come. I mean, 'cause it was like a cookout. Yeah. It was a whole bunch of people. So I was like, I had already drove around the block like five times before, before I had decided I was going.

I was like, okay Jamie, put your big girl [00:26:45] panties on. Get on out there.

Devin: I would've been nervous,

Jamie: but I was very gentle. I folded the papers, you know, 'cause I don't believe in like. Having the stack of papers, like whipping 'em out.

cohost: Yeah. I keep them in a folder. Been served,

Jamie: right? Yeah. So I just kind of like fold 'em and like, you didn't like grab

Joe: the karaoke [00:27:00] my attention ladies and generally I'll now be serving this man papers.

Jamie: Your divorce is starting now. Oh my gosh. So, but yeah. Okay. I'm done.

cohost: [00:27:15] [00:27:30] [00:27:45] That would've been a story to tell the grandkids. Oh, remember the cookout? Oh God. Oh my gosh. Yeah. So when you're not serving [00:28:00] papers or putting GPSs on cards what do you do for fun? I'm usually usually at the gym. The gym?

Jamie: She's a gym rat.

Gym rat. Oh my gosh.

Devin: I'm trying to make a rat. She's always at the

Jamie: gym

Devin: and nobody understands. They're like, God, you're at the gym [00:28:15] again. That's how you done. Well, tell your

Jamie: little, your, your story, your weight loss journey. So

Devin: I was always small. Mm-Hmm. Had a six pack abs when I was young and eight, whatever I want.

Can I interrupt you? Yeah. When I was young.

Jamie: You are [00:28:30] young, okay. You're not young. You're like way younger than me, so I like you're tell age is you okay? You're like an infant compared to me, but Devin is so cute, y'all. You would never believe that [00:28:45] I'm a pi. That she's a pi. She's a little blonde bombshell.

Devin: I don't know

Jamie: about

Devin: that,

Jamie: but

Devin: I appreciate it.

Anyway, that lady, that lady ran out

Jamie: of the, of the restaurant to ask Devin what products she used for her hair because it was so, so beautiful and [00:29:00] bouncy. I was like, it is raining right now.

Okay, I'll shut up. Sorry.

Devin: But yeah, I used to be able to eat whatever I wanted to. I was a swimmer back in the day and I was always fit and [00:29:15] then I got pregnant and,

Jamie: and babies Boy.

Devin: Yeah. Well, I won't blame it all on Jackson, but all I wanna do is eat. Didn't wanna do anything. I got pulled outta work three [00:29:30] months before I had 'em 'cause of my blood pressure.

And when you're sitting at home all day watching tv, what do you wanna do? You wanna eat?

Jamie: I'm eating rolls,

Devin: so Rolls.

Jamie: Rolls. That was my favorite thing when I was pregnant. Oh. Oh, Charlie's geese rolls.[00:29:45]

Devin: I ain't gonna say that.

Jamie: You can say it.

Devin: I wanted to eat dirt when I was pregnant. What? Yes. I didn't just, Brooke. I dunno what to say. I went to the doctor and everything about it. They were like, this is common. [00:30:00] I was like, oh, okay. I just wanna Common, common for who? She's like, I just wanna chew on a rock. Oh, I don't know what was going on.

But after I had him, it's

Joe: deficiencies in iron and zinc. That's why people create dirt. Yep. [00:30:15] So your body's telling you you don't have enough iron or zinc.

cohost: So Joe has experienced this too, when he was, no, I just have

Joe: Google over here. I just made it sound like I knew it. I had no idealy

Jamie: why he would wanna [00:30:30] be eating dirt, but okay.

And so, and then what happened after you had the bambino?

Devin: I actually had eclampsia afterward like a week after I had him. And I almost had a stroke. And I was at [00:30:45] UNC for three days. Fun stuff. And then after that I lost a little bit of weight. I didn't get really serious into it until five years later.

And then once I finally, it clicked in my [00:31:00] brain, right? You can't, I've never been this big and I was never comfortable with how I looked. So I did something about it and now I'm obsessed with it. And if I go a day without doing something, I feel like I'm. Gonna go insane. [00:31:15] That's good though. So

Jamie: do you, are you a early morning Jimmer or are you I can do

Devin: either one.

Okay. It, it just depends on how our work schedule is. If I don't have first thing something, first thing in the morning, then I'm going to the gym. If I get done early enough, I will [00:31:30] go when the work is done, I just place it in there wherever I can fit it. Yeah. Yeah.

Jamie: I wish I was, I need it. Come on.

Devin: Is there a certain type of brain that you superior?

Well, I'm from Dunn, so there ain't nothing nice Oh. Out there. [00:31:45] So I go to Planet Fitness. It's not my favorites. I have a plan for fitness

Jamie: membership,

cohost: but they do lack certain equipment Yes. That other gyms have like the heavy, heavy, heavy weights.

Devin: Well, Devin can't lift [00:32:00] all them heavy, heavy weights, but, you know, I, I do my best, but, it's okay. You know, sometimes you just need to be around other people that want to look a certain way. Sure. Or have different goals. I feel like Planet Fitness is [00:32:15] more like a run in and run out Right. Type of deal.

cohost: That's pretty accurate. Yeah.

Jamie: Okay. I'm gonna interject to what would you do? What would Devin do?

cohost: What would Devin do? What would Devin do?

Jamie: All right. It's need custody. We need brace. I know. What

cohost: would Devon do? Me? Oh, Mer coming soon. [00:32:30]

Devin: I'd wear it

and I'm sure some of the people that know me would wear it too. I'm sure they would. My kittens

cohost: would wear them. I got em. Little four for each leg. Oh

Jamie: yes. [00:32:45] Little Hugo and Holly. Yes. Okay. So you are working a custody case. And we are starting off at a tense custody exchange in a public place. Things escalate quickly and one parent starts behaving [00:33:00] aggressively in front of the child.

Oh boy. Right. Did Jamie tell you to do Pi answer would be, what are Devin doing?

Devin: We need to call the cops. Right.

Jamie: Well, what's hap, what's aggressively? [00:33:15] Could he just be being a butt? Is that the legal find?

cohost: Aggression. Yeah. Yeah. Like

Devin: what kind of, Jody have Mi and

cohost: Webster over there? Tell us an aggression?

Devin: Is aggression her hands being put on somebody, [00:33:30] or is the child involved?

No, the

Jamie: child is not being beaten. He's just, well, I'm gonna sit

Devin: there and record it. Get every little bit I can. Mm-Hmm.

Jamie: Because the purpose is then we can give that information to, yeah. The the other parent and they can use that in court. Obviously

Devin: [00:33:45] we try to record every single thing. Well, I do. I love it.

Jamie: Yes, she does. Yeah, she does. And we do. That's the goal we wanna get as much as possible,

Devin: whatever I try, because even though I see it, I mean, that's not helping,

Jamie: right. I mean Well then that means that [00:34:00] you have to go and testify to everything that you saw. Yeah. And that, you know, that is not the goal. No. We do have to be ready to testify and be prepared if called.

But you don't wanna be the only witness to what was happening. Right. You know, we want [00:34:15] video, photo documentation so that you know, it's there. There's nothing to talk about. Yeah.

Joe: There, it's not really helpful what the definition of aggression is. It's like aggression can be a lot of things. [00:34:30]

Jamie: And that's what I'm saying.

I think it the way this is reading in my mind, it was kind of like he's just not being kind to the child. Mm-Hmm. Of course if there was abuse going on, we were, can we [00:34:45] record and call 9 1 1 at the same time? Okay. Okay. And like, Hey Siri, call 9 1 1. Oh, I don't want anybody, Siri. Okay. Am I fault?

Joe: If you would've said Alexa all of a sudden never placed in the whole Yeah.

Jamie: [00:35:00] Goodness. So I think, what does it have our options? A lot of people

Joe: called 9 1 1 listening in their car. So anyway,

Jamie: call 9 1 1. Yikes. Yeah. So we're gonna record the incident from afar ensuring you capture everything for the [00:35:15] court, but avoid getting personally involved. We don't ever want to get involved with our situations. People who talk about, domestic cases always want us to, I ain't gonna say always want us to, but we have gotten calls where people want us to basically [00:35:30] confront and we are not confronting anybody.

And then there's my scaredy cat again. I don't want us to be getting where, I don't want us to get hurt. I don't want Yeah. You know, we just need to be documenting from afar what's going on. If you need the police [00:35:45] or security, then you need to have that in place prior to, prior to us getting there. But our job is gonna' be don't my little self out there.

Right. Not gonna happen. Now we got or get somebody's

Devin: space. I saw what

cohost: you did.[00:36:00]

Oh, man. All right. Do you have any advice for future investigators regarding what you learned?

Jamie: What you have learned, what you, you know, I

Devin: tell a lot of people what I do, a lot of friends, what I was going to do, and they're the type to [00:36:15] say, oh, I could do that. I could do that. That would be so easy. Everybody thinks they

Jamie: can be a pi,

Devin: you know, sitting in that car for 12 hours can really be

Jamie: Can I ask you a personal question?

Yeah. What is your how [00:36:30] I,

cohost: jumping on your own sit there, super personal.

Jamie: What, what's your method of tinkle? Oh

Devin: man.

cohost: I knew that was coming when she is a 12 hour, oh man.

Devin: Well, that's what one of the challenges would [00:36:45] be, but I wasn't gonna bring that up because sometimes you gotta get creative. This podcast is raw and real.

Okay. If I can get out into the woods or something, that's always ideal. But nature calls, sometimes you just, you're in the car. [00:37:00] I don't ever

Jamie: get out.

Devin: I know, but like in between.

Jamie: Oh,

Devin: it's 'cause sometimes I'm down some back roads. Or if you're between cases, then I'll hold it for as long as I can. But you don't have like a cup in the car or [00:37:15] something?

Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I always keep a, I didn't know how much detail you wanted. Girl. Tell the people I don't mind. She does gymnastics. It's in addition to going to the gym. Look at that angle. My bathroom is behind my driver's seat. [00:37:30] You get to the back seat. Sometimes I, if I'm doing surveillance and I'm closer than I wanna be because of where an entrance is.

Yeah. I'll jump in the back seat anyway.

Jamie: Okay.

Devin: [00:37:45] Because I have no tint on my car.

Jamie: Wow. Wow. I just, we gotta get that fixed. I didn't know this. Yeah.

Devin: Yeah. So my back glass is more tinted than the front, so

Jamie: we gotta get that fixed.

Devin: Yeah.

Jamie: Okay. [00:38:00] No, write that down.

Devin: Tent.

Jamie: Why doesn't Devin have tent? Everybody should have tent.

Devin: I think the car should come with tent. A tint with tent.

Jamie: Well, the baby manufacturers. Yeah. Do not wanna have [00:38:15] like, unless you buy a a, like the souped up one that's already tinted or something. Mm-Hmm. Window coverings. Have you thought about doing a window covering option? So, I know Greg has this in, in his car.

Mm-Hmm. There's kind of like Velcro. Yeah. At [00:38:30] the top of the windows. And then he has like this what do you call it? Black cover, dark cover. Mm-Hmm. Yeah, because you

Devin: can't see through the, his back glass at all.

Jamie: Right. Right. So, and then you can just kind of like video from there. And, there's actually this podcast called PI [00:38:45] Advice.

That's kind of cool. You should listen to that too. Okay. While you're in the car. But it's just a guy that has done PI work forever and he kind of talks about different scenarios and situations and like the best tools to use for your type of either vehicle or type of cases that you're working on. [00:39:00] And he was doing an episode on being hot in the car and he had all these like, cool little tools that, you know, people can almost have like a little mini air conditioner in there.

Devin: Yeah. We need to figure that one out

Jamie: next summer. Ruth, Ruth has like a little [00:39:15] portable, air conditioning thing in her car. I thought that was hilarious. I just get hot. It

Devin: gets hot,

Jamie: but I leave my car on. I mean, I try to, I'm like with Greg, with the whole be as far back as you can from the subject and still be able to see that way you can leave your car on and Yeah.[00:39:30]

You know,

Devin: because nothing says somebody's in a car like it running. So,

Jamie: but it's okay if it doesn't matter. Like if you're far enough away and it's not gonna interfere with your subject, you probably would be okay.

cohost: The environment is screaming,

Jamie: [00:39:45] right? Environment what?

cohost: The environment is screaming as a thought.

Jamie: Oh lord. It's like,

cohost: don't you pollute me?

Jamie: Well look,

cohost: don't we be doing that? We're doing a life.

Jamie: Well, this is why I don't throw trash on the ground because I know that all these, it all balances out. [00:40:00] There you go. Sitting in my car, we all have our vices. I have to have it going. I'm keeping, I mean, I don't even put myself through that anymore.

I got to be, I had to really need to be right there on top of the people to sit in the car with the dead heat and just like, hang. Have you been in the car with the heat

Devin: yet? No. [00:40:15] Like that.

Jamie: Mm-Hmm. Brooks, like I stay indoors. Indoor kit. Okay. I'm an indoor cat. She'll not be outta the cat out there in the streets.

Okay. With the

cohost: ac doing my research.

Jamie: Okay. One more story. Ready? [00:40:30] You're gonna pretend you're me for a second. You're gonna be taking in the case. Okay. All right. So you're talking to a client and the client's convinced that they're being followed everywhere. Restaurants, gyms, even random errands. After days of [00:40:45] surveillance, you've noticed that someone does seem to be always nearby, but they haven't made any direct threats or contact.

It could just be a coincidence. Do you confront the person and ask them [00:41:00] outright? Why are you always around? Keep a low profile, dig deeper into their background to confirm if they're truly stalking, or report back to your client. Caution them about jumping to conclusions until you have more concrete [00:41:15] evidence.

Devin: No, we need to stay on the person.

Jamie: Good girl. Because I

Devin: mean, what are you doing? I wanna know exactly what you're doing. So what if they're like, so I'm gonna call you, but what if they're

Jamie: like working at the same place? Like we have, we have had clients that [00:41:30] have called and said, I'm being followed. I'm being stalked.

These people won't leave me alone. And I'm like, where do you work? And they work at some public location where you can't prevent people from coming and going. Yeah. So it could just be a regular [00:41:45] patron to the store. You just happen to be working every day. Right. You know, is it, you know, how would you handle that client?

Say they have already spent all the money they have. I don't have any more money left to spend on this, and we've already done everything we can [00:42:00] do. I.

Devin: This is why I'm out in the field.

Like, girl, I dunno what to tell you. I really don't. Because I mean, you spent all your money. We see that, you know, there's a little [00:42:15] bit of evidence that they could be following you, but I mean, you just can't go up to a random person and say,

Jamie: what? What are you doing?

Devin: Yeah. You can't do that.

Jamie: I mean, you could.

Devin: You could, he might look

Jamie: like a crazy person, but I certainly wouldn't suggest us be [00:42:30] doing that, you know? Yeah. I

Devin: like to stay in the background,

Jamie: say covert. I told one lady one time, she said there was a situation like this and I said, well, why don't you say something?

Devin: Oh, I'd be the first one to say something.

Jamie: Yeah. 'cause I would, I mean, if you feel like somebody, right, I'm paranoid [00:42:45] right as you, she's like, absolutely. I'm gonna tell, tell them things. Okay. One more.

Client believes they're victim of gang stalking.

Yes. Are those like

Joe: special [00:43:00] socks that people in gangs wear?

Jamie: Yeah. They go up to your thigh. I get that.

Joe: They're red or blue, depending on what side you're on.

Jamie: Right? Multiple people are following harassing and surveilling them as part of an [00:43:15] organized group while investigating. You realize the group may just be the client's neighbors going about their daily lives, but they insist otherwise.

What do we do?

cohost: Hashtag [00:43:30] gang stalked. Yeah.

Devin: I don't know if I want to be involved with a gang. You gonna get me, you gonna get me in trouble for following a gang to try to figure out if it's your paper or if they are trying to [00:43:45] like, they'd follow you back to the country. Don't come out, don't come back to the country because you ain't gonna come back.

There's,

Joe: there's a real organization that exists that you can call Spark stalking, prevention, awareness, and Resource Center. Oh [00:44:00] my gosh,

Devin: there. Good. Well, I mean, I have my own form of protection against that, but Right. That's not for everyone. Right. Who is

Jamie: Spark hosted by, I dunno.

Joe: I say look 'em up here.

Spark's. We've quoted them in [00:44:15] our newsletter. Spark letter.org.

Jamie: Have we? Mm-Hmm. Yes, you have. It's a

Joe: project of AEquitas Quitas. Quitas AEquitas. I dunno what that means. It sounds Latin. It sounds like a, like a failed rap group from the nineties. Yo, we're [00:44:30] here. We're Aeta. We're talking about

Jamie: Chatta. Oh man.

People call all the time about gang stalking and then they say that the police are the ones that are gang stalking them. Oh God. I have had somebody [00:44:45] call and say that every time she went to the bus. That there was a cop car there watching her every time she got off the bus, there was a car right there following her to wherever she went.

Devin: How does that qualify as gang stuff?

Jamie: Girl, [00:45:00] they just, they just, and what

Devin: do they want us to do about it?

Jamie: They want us to investigate it and figure out why these police officers are following them. I mean, y'all don't understand what I have to deal with on this case management side. I don't know

Devin: if I should be answering the phone or not.[00:45:15]

Jamie: Deb's like, you know what? I don't wanna do the phone. I'm just gonna stay in the field. Well, I do because I'm curious

Devin: about like, how they go about it and how we set things up and you know, sometimes you just have some people that are a little nutty, so [00:45:30] Yeah. I just kind of want to hear it.

Jamie: Yeah. Oh, well, we, I mean, we have a whole page team.

And RingCentral.

cohost: Keeping track of things. Keeping

Jamie: track of things. Keeping

cohost: track of things.

Joe: So is gang stalking more of a real thing or more of like, [00:45:45]

Jamie: he's stolen the gang stalking? Yeah. I've never heard of it before. It's not a real thing.

Joe: Yeah, I'm on Wikipedia. It says A study by an Australia and United Kingdom compared to 128 self denied victims of gang stalking with a randomly selected group of 128 people.

Self-declared to be victims of regular stalking [00:46:00] by an individual. All 128 victims of gang stalking were judged to be delusional.

cohost: So this was on Wikipedia. That's how you know it's real.

Joe: Right? I just wrote it there.

Jamie: A very,

Joe: I thought it would be funny for the show, but no,

Jamie: I mean, I mean, really people, I [00:46:15] mean, true gang stalking Mm-hmm.

Is, is yeah. The amount of money people things to be working together. It is enormous and no, I, who are [00:46:30] you? Somebody needs to gang stalk you. Right. They're the same

Joe: people that think birds aren't real.

Jamie: Exactly. I mean, really. But in their mind, this is really going on. So I always encourage them to, here we go, back to therapy.[00:46:45]

You know, do you have, I mean, really, do you have somebody that you can talk to about this? 'cause a lot of times these people are like introverts. They're just home alone. They're on, you know, the internet, they're reading stuff. Yeah. You know, like our people with the they said that [00:47:00] the children were involved in this cult that was preventing them from Oh yes.

You know, staying in, involved with their parents and stuff. Mm-Hmm. So people believe this stuff. It is not, I can't fix everybody. Is it

Joe: better help.com?

Jamie: Right? [00:47:15] Please go. Look, I have told people about better health. I'm like, really? I don't know what kind of your, what insurance situation is. Mm-Hmm. But, you know, reach out to them or they

cohost: don't take insurance.

Jamie: Go to, oh yeah, well go to church or, [00:47:30] you know, find Jesus or find a therapist. I don't know if Jesus could help. I'm sure he could, but you have to know what's

cohost: Yeah. Anyways. Know em. I know. Okay. Yeah. So we have some this or that. [00:47:45] Rapid fire questions Okay. For our lovely guest. All right. Most importantly, pizza or tacos?

Jamie: Pizza. Pizza. Sorry. Superhero.

cohost: Jamie's like pizza. Like pizza.

Jamie: Okay. Sorry, I'm quiet.

cohost: Superhero or villain? [00:48:00]

Jamie: Superhero. She wanted to say villain. I did.

cohost: Oh, beach vacation or mountain retreat. Oh gosh. Poor Western or Carolina.

Jamie: I know. We're [00:48:15] still, I know. Cleaning up after rebuilding

cohost: Beach. Beach. Okay, so for this question, there's only one correct answer, okay? You will be judged if you say that. Incorrect answer. I

Devin: already know what it's, yeah.

cohost: Go ahead.

Cats or dogs? Choose wisely. Cats. [00:48:30] Okay. She's cat. She's a cat

Devin: lady too. Got too many.

cohost: No such thing. Reality TV or scripted drama

Devin: reality tv. Woohoo.

cohost: Okay. Do you have a favorite reality show?

Jamie: Oh God. What is it?

cohost: The [00:48:45] Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. No, I'm like strange watch shows. Oh, those wives.

Devin: I grew up on Jersey Shore.

Okay, me too. So know [00:49:00] they're old now. The old ones. I'll rewatch that stuff. Mm-Hmm. But like the MTV ones, like the Love is Blind and stuff like that. Yes. I like to watch some of that stuff, but sometimes he gets too much for me. I'm like, y'all are dramatic.

cohost: Sneakers or high heels, [00:49:15]

Devin: sneakers. Sneakers.

cohost: Unless you're serving papers. Of course.

Devin: Yeah, you gotta dress up. I gotta be able to take my shoe off and

cohost: Oh,

Devin: fair

cohost: enough. Sweet or savory food. Sweet [00:49:30] Board games or video games. Okay. No games at all. No one time. Amusement park or Beach day? Beach [00:49:45] day. Beach day.

All about the beach. Dine in or take out?

Jamie: I

Devin: like both. I like to go out to dinner, but then I like to take it back home And sit in your sweatpants and watch tv. Yeah.

cohost: I feel like [00:50:00] takeout tastes best at like 10:30 PM Yes. I don't do

Jamie: takeout.

cohost: Really. Really?

Jamie: Yeah. I am, I'm, I'm no longer excited about it now that it's been sweating in the box.

cohost: It's what? Man touched my food. Well, all

Devin: these [00:50:15] places are closer to y'all than me, so I can understand that. Yes, you could. You're closer to like downtown where all the restaurants and stuff are, right?

Jamie: Yeah. But I, if I lived out there with you, I'd just be cooking.

Devin: Oh, I don't cook. You don't cook? I'm not domestic at [00:50:30] all.

Okay. I'll keep a clean house, but that's about it.

cohost: I'm not, we were just talking. Jamie and I were just talking about that I need,

Devin: we

Jamie: need

Devin: Maes.

cohost: Yes, we do. The Black Men Detective services Maid. We'll make a reality show. [00:50:45] One. I used to do that for

Devin: a side

Jamie: job. That's a great idea. Maid. The PI maids. Yes.

cohost: And then my favorite last question.

Extrovert or introvert? Hmm. I have my guess, but I'll What's your guess? [00:51:00] I think you're an introvert. I am. I think you're an extrovert, introvert.

Devin: I am.

Jamie: Mm-Hmm. I agree. That means you can do both. Yes. Prefer the introvert. Prefer the introvert though.

cohost: Mm-Hmm. Yeah. But when the situation calls for it, she'll chat a fella up.[00:51:15]

Forget the info.

Devin: Oh yeah. Yes. Oh yeah,

Jamie: she will. Yes.

Devin: I can

Jamie: play that out. Really good. Do we have time for one more or we're gonna move on?

cohost: yeah, we can do one more real quick.

Jamie: Okay. You've been sitting in car, in car, sitting in car. You've been sitting [00:51:30] in the car for hours. 12 plus on a surveillance mission.

Just hate one of those. It's hot. I know. At least it wasn't hot girl.

Devin: No. Yeah.

Jamie: Yeah. Look,

Devin: that was like probably one of the easiest days I had. Right.

Jamie: Just nice little [00:51:45] cool breeze coming through the That's lovely. It is. You get a lot of work done on these days. Oh yeah. I'll be on my laptop just about all day.

Yeah. Long as we're still paying attention. So you've been sitting in the car, obviously, 14 plus hours. Look, now I'm like 14 hours. It's hot. [00:52:00] This one's hot. You're bored. Suspect still hasn't showed up. Suddenly you hear a knock at your window.

cohost: Who is that? It's the poppo.

Jamie: It's, it's the poppo. They think you are the [00:52:15] suspicious one.

What are we doing?

Devin: Oh, so they already think I'm suspicious. Yeah, I

Jamie: black them hanging out at the cemetery.

Devin: Oh God. Well, in that instance, I had to tell 'em what I was doing.

Jamie: I know.

Devin: I was [00:52:30] like, I'm working. I'm not like talking to the dead or anything like that. Right.

Jamie: So question. Do we always have to tell the police why we're there?

No. [00:52:45] No. Most importantly is our client's confidentiality. So we are not, even if we are approached by law enforcement and we tell them that we're a pi, we're not indu indulging. That's not the right word.

cohost: That's right. [00:53:00]

Jamie: Is that the right word?

cohost: Say more. But I'll give my feedback or reflect on it

Jamie: and, and that's not right.

cohost: We don't D trying say, there we go. Thank you.

Jamie: Help me. Good gracious. Good lord. Y'all [00:53:15] looking at me like, girl. That's right. I'm like, it's not, it's not right. I can hear it. It sounds wrong. Divulge D. We do not have to divulge that information. That's such a chat.

Joe: GPT word. I feel like that's one of those words when I hear it, I'm like, ah, chat.

GPT wrote that [00:53:30] sentence. Let's delve into that.

Jamie: I love my chat. GPT. I need to give him a name. Oh, oh my gosh. He helped us with these these questions, these scenarios today. Oh, it's on top of things. Look,

Joe: do you know they reported chat GPT reported [00:53:45] the usage of chat, GPT, you know, the number one usages, what it has to do with something we talked about.

I'm scared

Jamie: some something what we're talking about today.

Joe: Yeah. At the beginning. Romance. Yeah. People use it to write spicy romance.

Jamie: I used it to break up with somebody. [00:54:00] I don't even know what this is. I break up with somebody. Yeah. So there was this guy, he got the

Joe: text and then he's like, oh, crappy enters had GPT and how to respond gracefully to being dumped.

Jamie: It's a thing I, [00:54:15] I had to chat GPT 'cause you know what, what is this? Can you explain to me what this is? So she's in the field, y'all chat, I mean, GPT Chat. GPT is like ai where you can basically [00:54:30] ask it questions and it will spit out the information in a nice, organized fashion. I mean, you can organize a trip, you know, how do I, you know what?

People

cohost: use it. So I also teach college. Oh yeah. And sometimes students use it [00:54:45] improperly and they use it to like write their papers and stuff, which is a big no no, I don't use

Jamie: I don't, we don't want to be. Misusing misusing AI or not using it for things that we could be using it for. [00:55:00] Mm-Hmm. It is very helpful to, like, if you are like a content creator or something like that coming up with hashtags, you can ask chat GPT, what are the top 30 hashtags [00:55:15] for private investigators in Raleigh?

And it will spit 'em all out where you can just copy and paste it into the thing. And now everybody's been tagged fan test it. Okay. You can write like [00:55:30] scripts for like voiceovers and stuff. Mm-Hmm. And like have 'em within a certain period of time. And it just, and you were out here sounding like, you know, so how did you use it

Devin: with the breakup?

How to be nice. She still stuck [00:55:45] on that.

Jamie: Oh yeah. I, I just say, I don't like you. Yeah. I was like, so this guy won't leave me alone. I've tried to, you know, nicely break up with it and it's, you know, it's not working. How do I let him know that I'm not interested? Mm-Hmm. Without, and not be mean. Mm-Hmm. [00:56:00] And so it was, it was like you know, I basically, like, I've really been thinking about things and yeah, I think that, you know, you deserve somebody that's just as excited about you.

That's not really thing. No, but I don't, you know, I don't like to be mean to people, but [00:56:15] sometimes I was like, man, you've got to leave me alone. And then the best thing, his response was, Jamie, I understand. And I ain't heard from him saying, I'm like, look at God. Via, via chat GPT.

Joe: [00:56:30] Here's a thoughtful way.

Jamie might express her feelings towards a potential ex, keeping it honest and kind. This is chat, GPT, Hey name. I wanted to talk to you about where we're at. I've been doing a lot of thinking and I'm realizing that I'm not in the same place I was before and the things don't feel the same to me as they do [00:56:45] now.

This isn't easy to say because I care about you and appreciate the time we've shared, but I think we both deserve some to be with someone who's fully present and wholehearted committed to building something good, gracious. I don't wanna string you along.

Devin: Translation, I'm not into you.[00:57:00]

I just don't like you. My response

Jamie: would've been, this is great because you make it in like 50 words or less.

Joe: Hey, X. Been thinking a lot. I feel like we're in different places [00:57:15] now. That's it. I'm grateful for what we share and I hope we can move forward. Respectfully, hold on. Shorter. Respectfully. Of course. Shorter.

Devin: We'll just be like, I'm moving away.

Joe: I feel like we're heading in different directions. I [00:57:30] care about you and appreciate what we had.

Thanks for understanding.

Jamie: Thanks for understanding. Feel like we're done

Joe: shorter.

Jamie: Bye.

Joe: I appreciate what we had. Thank you.

Jamie: Oh my gosh. [00:57:45] I love it. Look, if you ever get stumped and you don't know how to say something and you don't know how

cohost: to dump, right.

Jamie: You don't dunno how to get 'em away. Consult with chat.

GPT.

cohost: Yeah. That

Jamie: $20 of whatever it is is $20. Well worth it. [00:58:00] Girl. Ain't nothing free.

cohost: It's free for me.

Jamie: Not the pro one.

cohost: Oh no, I don't have him.

Jamie: Yeah. 'cause there was something, there was something, I forget why I got it. It was a reason. Oh, okay. It'll

Joe: analyze stuff. That's pretty neat. Yeah. So you can upload stuff to it and ask it to examine it.

Jamie: [00:58:15] Yeah. Really? That's the, the one, the expensive one. I'm curious man, I, no. Okay. So yes. Thank y'all for being here today, Devon. I'm so excited. I hope you had a great time. I did good. See, it wasn't scary. [00:58:30] No, we didn't bite you. I can run my mouth all the time. I don't. And the comfort of the call. Yeah. Okay.

Jamie: Well take the bus. That's the best way. You don't know about the fair?

cohost: I guess I'm going.

Jamie: Yeah, off I go. Don't get you on the bus.

You know there's some I had somewhere, somewhere a fun what all the good foods were and it was a bunch of gross stuff.

cohost: Oh. Like fried Oreos. And Candice said there's a

Jamie: 2000 pound. It's

cohost: the best thing.

Jamie: I don't [01:00:30] like fried Oreos.

cohost: Oh. I've never had them. But they sound intriguing. They said Oreos have

Jamie: parasites in them.

What? They said Oreos have parasites.

Joe: That's why you deep fry 'em.

Jamie: You kill the parasites outta them. Protein. Hello? My you [01:00:45] know, support your local stuff. Support your local people. Mm-Hmm. Support small business

cohost: like us. Yeah, like us. Support us.

Jamie: Oh, and don't forget that we will be having a trivia night and a book club coming in, starting the beginning of the year as well.
