I am obsessed with building businesses that make lots of money but do so in a way that also create luxurious amounts of freedom. So, if you're looking to build, grow, or scale a wedding business in a way that doesn't burn you out and you'd love some guidance from someone who has done just that this podcast is for you.
Nicole:Hello everyone! Welcome to episode 58. I have a really fun easy simple effective podcast for you today I'm gonna give you one simple thing that you can do this week that is going to propel your your wedding business forward, that's going to help you book more couples, one thing you can do to become the obvious choice. And it's going to be simple and it's going to be easy and it's probably something that you are totally unaware of, not prioritizing, and just don't see as being important, but it's so important. And I was kind of racking my brain to think of one thing.
Nicole:What's one simple thing I could give you guys to actually make an impact to get you booking more weddings to bring a result to bring some money in right and it I wanted it to be something that was simple not something that is going to take months to do or understand or implement something you could do in an afternoon so today that's what we'll be talking about The one thing you can do today or this week to be the obvious choice. The obvious choice for couples to choose you over every other wedding planner, over every other wedding photographer. Right? Okay. So first, let's talk about a little bit of sales psychology because this is important.
Nicole:Let's talk about how brides and grooms make purchases, how they buy. How do couples behave when they're looking for a wedding planner for example? What specific things are they doing? How are they thinking? Like, put yourself in their shoes.
Nicole:If you are newly engaged, you're probably excited. You're doing a whole bunch of research. You're looking on the Internet. People are saying you need a wedding planner. Oh my god.
Nicole:I need a wedding planner. They say this is the first thing I should book. What's the first thing they're gonna do? They're gonna start looking at on Google looking for wedding planners in their area, probably looking at know Reddit forums and seeing what other brides are doing, looking at articles about what they should do. And then they might come across a specific wedding planner or two, one that pops up a few times because they keep seeing them everywhere.
Nicole:Right? Those are the ones they're going to check out. But first, they're looking for someone first they can find, and second, that feels like the right fit for them. So when they're buying, they're looking for the obvious choice, someone that makes them feel safe, someone they can trust. They can trust them because they keep seeing them online, and everybody else is talking about them.
Nicole:And then lastly, someone that feels like a good fit for them, probably someone that fits within their budget, someone that does weddings that are similar to the type of wedding that they are wanting to have. So think about all those things and put yourself in their shoes. Like, what do you do when you're looking for something specific when you're looking for a specific say dentist for your four year old child. I say this because I've done this before. When someone gives me a recommendation on a dentist, the first thing I'm gonna do, I'm not just gonna call them up and book them.
Nicole:Right? First thing I'm gonna do is Google them because I'm checking to see if they're real, if they're trusted, if they're safe, if other people have used them and liked them. I wanna make sure that I'm not just sending my my little child to anyone. I want to choose someone who's good, someone who's the best, someone who I know other people have had experience with and have liked. So Google is not just a marketing platform.
Nicole:It's a trust platform, and trust is really, really important when it comes to brides and grooms choosing you. You need to establish a level of trust before they're ever going to reach out to you. The old days, or you may have heard that referrals were important and they were and still are. But it's not enough. Getting a referral from another vendor is never going to be enough if when a bride and groom gets the referral and then googles you, they can't find anything on you.
Nicole:If you're not showing up on Google, what you are communicating to the bride and groom subconsciously is uncertainty is that you are new and you don't know what the F you're doing, that you're risky, that maybe you haven't been around for a while, that they can't trust you. So even if you come highly referred from someone who they trust, it's not enough if you don't have an online presence. Presence. What happens is that having no presence online it it doesn't not mean anything. It means that you're creating a feeling of unsafety of unsecurity.
Nicole:They don't see you as trusted. They see you as a risk. They see you as unsafe. And if they see you as unsafe, they're not going to book you. They're not gonna pay you money.
Nicole:So what then do couples need? Right? They're already feeling overwhelmed, most likely, because, oh my god. I have to plan this huge event. I don't know what I'm doing.
Nicole:I don't know what it's gonna cost. I don't know where to start. I don't know who to choose. I don't know how to choose people. And when they're already in this state of overwhelm and stressed out and uncertainty, what they're not looking for is more options.
Nicole:What they're looking for is a feeling of relief, of safety. They want to let go of all the stress and overwhelm and they want to choose someone that is gonna be the right choice someone they can trust someone that they know is going to be good. They want to choose the obvious yes. Now, when your business isn't showing up on Google, even in the simplest way, what that's doing is telling their nervous system that they can't trust you. Now on the opposite side, if they get referred or they hear about you somewhere, they you show up on their Instagram feed.
Nicole:They Google you, and you show up all over that first page when they Google your name. What that tells their nervous system is that other people have hired this person. This person is legit. I can trust them. It reassures them, right?
Nicole:It's creating a feeling of safety in their body and the feeling of trust now if they have this they might even look a little bit further and check out your reviews or your website and they might reach out to you. But if they look for you and they can't find anything they're gonna just move on. If they do reach out to you and they don't find anything there's still going to be this level of like insecurity of lack of trust. So when you do actually talk to them, if they even make it that far, then you're gonna have to con feel like you're having to convince them because they aren't are already convinced. They haven't already convinced themself because they've already seen proof that you're a legit real professional trustworthy business.
Nicole:So all of that is just to kind of give you an overview of why it's important to show up on Google, not because it's like a marketing thing. It's to establish this, like, feeling of trust, of confidence that you're giving them in knowing that you are a safe bet, that they can trust this decision to book you. So one, they have to like you. Two, they have to trust you. So here's the one thing that you can do today to make an immediate impact on your business in probably an hour or less.
Nicole:So if you do nothing else this week, I want you to do this one thing. Maybe you've already done it, you're like awesome. And you already know this, then you can skip this episode and move on. But if you haven't done this yet, I'm telling you this one thing will make a major impact for the better in your wedding business. What I want you to do is work on your online presence.
Nicole:I want you to show up multiple times on page one of Google so that if someone, a bride and groom, finds you somewhere else and looks you up, I mean actually types in your name, your business name, or your name if that is your business, into Google, they will find a shit ton of stuff like a whole Google page worth of different articles that are linking to your website that are talking about you. I know that sounds hard but it's not. So here are a couple of things you could do to get your name in different places on that first page. You can claim your Google Business Profile. If you haven't done that yet, that's a really easy one.
Nicole:Add your business to your name, the name of your business to a Google Business Profile. Make sure that it has your name, location, category, of that. You can add in a photo, a description, make it simple. This doesn't have to be perfect. You just wanna get it online.
Nicole:Get it up there. K? Don't spend a thousand hours, like, trying to write out this perfect caption because it doesn't matter so much as you just show up. Nobody's gonna click on it and be like, let me search more. They just wanna see it show up.
Nicole:You can add yourself to Google Maps. Yep. I said Google Maps. I know that sounds weird, but that's another listing. You can add yourself to Yelp, create a Instagram profile.
Nicole:All the different profiles that you can create all the listings that are free sign up for all of them for Bing for all of them you want to find as many free places you can be online where if a couple searches for you they will see you pop up on that page one of Google, and it will talk a little bit about who you are and what you do. Now the goal of this is to take up an entire page one of Google from, like, 10 different sources. And what this is gonna do is create a confidence within a future couple bride and groom that are looking for you, it's going to create a feeling of trust. It's going to make you seem like you've been around for a while. It's going to make you feel safe to them.
Nicole:Right? You want them to see you as a professional, as someone that this isn't their first rodeo. You're not new. You have experience. You've been around, and you are a legit professional, you know, amazing business that they can trust.
Nicole:This doesn't mean they're gonna book you. It just means that they will take the next step more quickly, more easily, faster. They're going to more quickly they're gonna look you up. Here's exactly what happens. They hear about you.
Nicole:They see you on Instagram. Somehow your name enters their ear from the forest or whatever. Somebody mentions you. They look you up. They see that you have a bunch of mentions on page one of Google.
Nicole:Okay. Right there. Safe. They feel safe. They're excited.
Nicole:They're like, okay. This company, this girl looks legit. Now I'm going to check out her website. They check out your website they feel connected to you through your website then they're going to reach out to you through your contact form And because you've already created this feeling of safety, of stability, of trust, of knowing that you you're not new. You and even if you are, it doesn't matter.
Nicole:Okay? What matters is how they perceive you. How they feel like you're the obvious safe choice. They feel like you are the one that they can trust to, like, handle shit for them. Right?
Nicole:If you're a wedding planner, as a photographer, they want to know that this isn't your first rodeo, that you are good at what you do. How you create this feeling within them is by taking up the first page of Google. I know it sounds silly. You think it isn't important, but I'm telling you it 1000% is. And in order to do this, it's literally only gonna take an hour or two of your time.
Nicole:So once they reach out to you and you've actually maybe got them on the phone, convincing them is gonna be a lot easier because they've already convinced themselves because they see you now as a professional. They see you as someone they can trust. So you're not going to get grilled with, like, how many weddings have you done? Like, they're probably not gonna ask you that because they think that you've done a bunch of weddings because you're showing up all over the place. That's kind of the the reason why this is important.
Nicole:So your goal, your one thing, spend an hour or two or three even just getting your business name listed on Google on different websites so that if you are to search for yourself online you'll take up that whole page okay and this is something that any booked out, you know, well known wedding business has in place. It's something that they don't talk about having, but I guarantee you they have. Whether they did it on purpose or not, they have it. And this is what gets them booking more and more weddings over and over again. And it's a foundational element that you absolutely need to have in order to create trust with brides and grooms.
Nicole:This is actually one of the four what I think are foundational elements that create and build trust with new brides and grooms. There are four of them. This is one of them, like building out your online presence. And I think all of them, this one especially, is insanely important in order to book more weddings to be seen as a pro. I cover all of these four foundational things in my wedding business masterclass, but this is one of them that you can implement today.
Nicole:And it matters it does like even though you think this is kind of silly waste of time whatever like it it matters because if you can create safety and trust with your potential couples before they even reach out to you booking them is just going to be so much easier and additionally it's it helps your SEO. I talk about SEO a lot. SEO is really really important but this is one of the things you have to do for SEO search engine optimization anyway and so you may as well do it. It's it's one of those things a foundational thing that absolutely everyone needs to do and the quicker you do it the quicker pricing rooms are going to want to work with you. So this is about acting like someone who expects to be chosen.
Nicole:And this is one of the simple things you can do to be a vendor that they're going to want to work with you. You need to become the obvious choice and not convince people because when you get on a call with them or when they do reach out to you, you want to already be the obvious choice and remove any kind of hesitation that they might have. All of that comes before they reach out to you. And this is one simple, very simple way you can remove hesitation from new couples. And it's so simple that so many newer wedding businesses don't prioritize it.
Nicole:They don't do it. They don't think it's that important, but it it matters. So if this hopefully you found this helpful. I know this was kind of a short simple one, but I wanted to give you something simple because I want you to actually do it and and see what happens. And if you like this and this way of thinking resonates with you because this is all the stuff that I cover in my wedding business masterclass.
