[00:00:00 - 00:00:05] Crazy hot take instead of the sequels. The Disney trilogy would have been better off as an original
[00:00:07 - 00:00:15] Original trilogy remakes not prequel was out of typo because that's no that's that says OT
[00:00:15 - 00:00:17] Original trilogy. I copy and pasted that John Wow
[00:00:20 - 00:00:26] This is raging fire actions. This is the craziest take I may have heard all this series double raging fire
[00:00:26 - 00:00:28] Yeah, we stacked to I'm just gonna make it big
[00:00:30 - 00:00:34] Fire this is probably one of the craziest things I've ever said
[00:00:45 - 00:00:50] Drew this will never end it's true. It's yeah, Star Wars is here to stay
[00:00:50 - 00:00:55] Welcome back to someone line a fireside film podcast. I'm grand. I'm drew talking about Star Wars hot takes
[00:00:55 - 00:00:57] This is part four. So if you want to check out our series
[00:00:57 - 00:01:02] We have a whole series where you can go watch the whole series hours upon hours of our
[00:01:03 - 00:01:09] Love Star Wars and you love hot takes. We got you. We're your guys
[00:01:09 - 00:01:15] Not very niche Venn diagram of things. We have a lot of it. We hit that
[00:01:15 - 00:01:19] For you drew we have another hot take series coming up though
[00:01:19 - 00:01:23] True we do tells about it really quick before we get into Star Wars. All right
[00:01:23 - 00:01:28] I know this might pain some of you to hear but we are gonna pivot from Star Wars emphasis on pivot, okay?
[00:01:28 - 00:01:33] Well, you can always pivot back. We're not we're not saying never yeah, but spider-man's around the corner
[00:01:33 - 00:01:36] So we're gonna do a spider-man hot takes. Yes
[00:01:36 - 00:01:42] So comment your spider-man hot takes or like a Marvel hot takes but try to stick mainly with spider-man
[00:01:42 - 00:01:45] If you have a Star Wars hot take you can send it in it just might be a few months
[00:01:46 - 00:01:50] But we do save them all so don't feel like oh, I can't send anything in
[00:01:51 - 00:01:56] But yeah, we're pivoting to spider-man slash Marvel so that'll be fun have a live-action spider-man marathon coming up
[00:01:56 - 00:02:04] Do so subscribe if you are new to the channel. Yep. Let's just get into Star Wars hot takes drew tell us about the hot takes system
[00:02:04 - 00:02:06] Super super quick. Okay, so
[00:02:07 - 00:02:12] This is we just kind of rate your take on like a hotness scale
[00:02:12 - 00:02:16] Yes, okay, so we have raging fire, which is like the hottest of the hot take
[00:02:16 - 00:02:20] Yep, we have enough for s'mores, which is like you can cook something on it
[00:02:20 - 00:02:25] But like it's not like crazy hot. Yep, and then we have some smoke which pretty self-explanatory
[00:02:25 - 00:02:30] We have only embers. Yep, which is also self-explanatory and then we have died down wet logs
[00:02:30 - 00:02:35] Yep, so it's like a hotness of coldness in a fire sense because we are a fire
[00:02:36 - 00:02:39] Also not a reflection of like
[00:02:39 - 00:02:45] The the validity of your take will say whether or not we agree right take you can have a great take
[00:02:45 - 00:02:49] That's freezing cold. Yep. So we'll kind of judge both of those aspects of it
[00:02:50 - 00:02:54] Yeah, thank you guys for being here. Yep. We're gonna dive into this. Let's get into it
[00:02:54 - 00:02:54] All right
[00:02:54 - 00:03:00] I'm going to open us with one that I am very excited for let me find it. We have these written down
[00:03:01 - 00:03:03] Okay, this is from I will one. Okay ready
[00:03:04 - 00:03:10] I will one says my biggest hot take is that Leia Skywalker is worse than Ray Skywalker
[00:03:10 - 00:03:17] Oh, wow making the princess a late third wheel add-on in the drama between Luke and Vader was unnecessary
[00:03:17 - 00:03:24] Compared to an orphaned scavenger girl choosing a good family over her discovered dark-side bloodline
[00:03:25 - 00:03:27] That's the first take. We'll start there
[00:03:27 - 00:03:29] What do we think?
[00:03:31 - 00:03:36] So it's saying that like the writing of Leia being added later was worse than the writing of Ray
[00:03:37 - 00:03:39] Skywalker being added later. I think I disagree
[00:03:40 - 00:03:42] I mean, that's kind of crazy a
[00:03:42 - 00:03:47] But I do think Leia feels a little shoehorned in
[00:03:47 - 00:03:51] in like six specifically. Yeah of like oh
[00:03:52 - 00:03:54] Now she's
[00:03:54 - 00:03:56] Because like five
[00:03:56 - 00:04:04] She kisses Luke. Yes, right. So clearly this was not planned unless George Lucas is like a weird guy in five
[00:04:05 - 00:04:07] Yoda does say there is another
[00:04:07 - 00:04:11] True so George, so maybe George is a weird guy. I
[00:04:12 - 00:04:19] Don't know but that's that's kind of we can talk through the reasoning there another time, but yeah, it does feel a little shoehorned in but like I
[00:04:20 - 00:04:28] Think the Ray Skywalker thing is worse. I think it's way worse because not even because her one to be a Skywalker is bad
[00:04:28 - 00:04:30] I see where you're coming from. I think that
[00:04:31 - 00:04:37] It it's because it's such a switch up like her journey in nine is such a switch up from the journey in eight
[00:04:37 - 00:04:43] And that's actually what I one of the things I like about the last Jedi is that it says oh Ray is from nowhere
[00:04:43 - 00:04:45] Yeah, I like that aspect of the movie
[00:04:46 - 00:04:47] so
[00:04:47 - 00:04:56] For it's a like basically be retconned into she's a Palpatine and then she is a Skywalker. I think it's more egregious
[00:04:56 - 00:04:58] Yeah, I mean
[00:04:58 - 00:05:00] At least lay is Arcus consistent
[00:05:01 - 00:05:03] relatively ish. Yeah, and like
[00:05:05 - 00:05:10] Logically coherent with the rest of the characters rays is not and also I
[00:05:11 - 00:05:14] Mean in each movie Ray is a different thing. I
[00:05:15 - 00:05:20] Mean, I guess in seven used you like you don't know who Ray's parents are but like in eight and nine
[00:05:20 - 00:05:24] She goes pull her opposites. You're no one and then you're a Palpatine. Yeah
[00:05:25 - 00:05:28] So, you know, I think I disagree here, but I don't know
[00:05:29 - 00:05:36] Actually, I think it's pretty hot honestly. This might be a raging fire. I think it could be I think that's a raging fire take
[00:05:36 - 00:05:38] Thank you for sending it in I disagree
[00:05:38 - 00:05:42] But I see where you're coming from unlike some of the craziest thing that if Ray was a Palpatine
[00:05:42 - 00:05:48] For her to want to associate with the Skywalker's because they are the embodiment of good that makes sense
[00:05:48 - 00:05:49] I can get behind that
[00:05:49 - 00:05:56] I think the movies before that don't really line up with that and that's what makes the delivery back agreed. All right, Drew
[00:05:56 - 00:05:58] Okay, you were up
[00:05:58 - 00:06:00] we
[00:06:00 - 00:06:08] Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. This is crazy. Okay. Okay. We're gonna go with Uncle Thune. Uncle Thune. Uncle Thune. Oh
[00:06:10 - 00:06:12] This is I think this is gonna be raging fire as well
[00:06:13 - 00:06:15] This is kind of an essay so buckle up
[00:06:15 - 00:06:20] I believe the Phantom Menace truly deserves a top five spot in Star Wars in Star Wars
[00:06:20 - 00:06:26] And then he says top three question mark. Oh wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. No, I'm just bad at reading top three
[00:06:26 - 00:06:31] No, but I believe people view in the wrong way. Okay, the meat and potatoes of the movie is not Anakin Skywalker
[00:06:31 - 00:06:34] It is Qui-Gon Jen. I think this stuff with Anakin while
[00:06:35 - 00:06:42] Integral to the series moving forward should be treated as side information while watching this movie in particular the scenes with
[00:06:42 - 00:06:44] Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are
[00:06:44 - 00:06:48] Where it's at. Now again, this isn't deserving of the top three maybe even tops four spot
[00:06:48 - 00:06:52] But when I heard you say it's hard to get through it. I couldn't believe it
[00:06:52 - 00:06:55] I think this movie is hilarious and in the driest way possible
[00:06:55 - 00:06:59] And obviously the duel of the fates has got to be top three life-saving battles of all time
[00:06:59 - 00:07:04] The Phantom Menace is one of the one of my go-to Star Wars movies from Star Wars. It's just chill
[00:07:04 - 00:07:08] It's just a chill watch because it stands on its own so well
[00:07:09 - 00:07:12] This is not as hot as I thought it was. I thought you were saying Phantom Menace is top three
[00:07:12 - 00:07:16] It's so kind of hot though. I don't dislike this argument entirely
[00:07:17 - 00:07:20] but I have to disagree personally because
[00:07:21 - 00:07:23] Maybe as a movie on its own
[00:07:23 - 00:07:25] It's fine
[00:07:25 - 00:07:30] But it is worsened by what comes after it by which I mean right Qui-Gon's not even a
[00:07:31 - 00:07:34] Character really throughout Star Wars like he isn't Phantom Menace, but like
[00:07:35 - 00:07:41] If we're taking it as a saga if this movie is worsened by what came before it like being made
[00:07:41 - 00:07:45] Before it and then also what came after it chronologically. I
[00:07:46 - 00:07:50] Think I'd strongly disagree here just because I think when you look at the like
[00:07:52 - 00:07:56] Like these were written as trilogies these were written as a cohesive story
[00:07:56 - 00:07:57] Mm-hmm
[00:07:57 - 00:08:03] So like if Phantom Menace happened to be like a Star Wars story or Lycra one or solo and then
[00:08:03 - 00:08:08] Everyone was hating on it. I would kind of agree with you here and be like well it is
[00:08:08 - 00:08:16] It's not like in a trilogy. It's like it's so inside thing. Yeah, but it's not this trilogy is is orbited around Anakin
[00:08:17 - 00:08:19] this movie does a really bad job at
[00:08:20 - 00:08:22] Being the start of that. Yeah
[00:08:22 - 00:08:26] So that's kind of where I'm at. Yeah, I agree with you drew um I
[00:08:26 - 00:08:31] Think maybe maybe get too much hate. I mean I like the Phantom Menace in like a general
[00:08:31 - 00:08:33] I like the prequel sense
[00:08:33 - 00:08:35] But if we're talking about
[00:08:35 - 00:08:40] Ranking all the Star Wars movies, which we have done a ranking in our Star Wars marathon series, which you can go watch
[00:08:40 - 00:08:43] This is bottom tier Star Wars, but it is better than
[00:08:44 - 00:08:48] Rise of Skywalker true. Do we say it's better than Mando and Grogu? I think it is
[00:08:49 - 00:08:52] Better than those two movies. I think it might be better than attack of the clowns
[00:08:52 - 00:08:57] I don't I can't remember. I think we said attack was better, but I think we could flip on that
[00:08:57 - 00:08:59] I could go either way honestly
[00:09:00 - 00:09:02] Yeah
[00:09:02 - 00:09:05] But like yeah, like I guess my question is to you is like, what are you putting it?
[00:09:06 - 00:09:10] Above I don't think the story of Phantom Menace is that interesting like no
[00:09:10 - 00:09:13] I mean we're on Tatooine for a whole lot of that movie
[00:09:13 - 00:09:17] You if you just watch the clip of duel of fates
[00:09:17 - 00:09:23] You're probably getting the best part of the movie sick duel of fates. It's great. It's a top-3 lightsaber scene
[00:09:23 - 00:09:25] I like quite gone a lot like there's good stuff, but I
[00:09:26 - 00:09:28] don't know I
[00:09:28 - 00:09:31] Think this is a strong disagree on this take
[00:09:32 - 00:09:37] Where are we on the hotness scale drew? I'm gonna say enough for s'mores. Yeah, I like that enough for s'mores
[00:09:37 - 00:09:40] There are some definite prequel lovers
[00:09:41 - 00:09:47] For s'mores, okay. I have one for you drew. I'm hit me. This one was actually sent in as a buzzer beater. Whoa
[00:09:49 - 00:09:53] My cousin Austin and I were texting and I mentioned that we were doing this podcast and he had a hot take
[00:09:53 - 00:09:57] He wanted to send okay. Thank you Austin. This is your hot take
[00:09:57 - 00:10:03] This is Jedi mind tricks are morally not reflective of who the Jedi portrayed themselves to be
[00:10:04 - 00:10:10] They are manipulative and can be seen as Jedi praying on the week to get what they need not saying
[00:10:10 - 00:10:14] I'm against them in parentheses. I kind of agree with this. This is not crazy. No
[00:10:15 - 00:10:18] Yeah, these are very deceptive
[00:10:20 - 00:10:21] Yeah
[00:10:21 - 00:10:26] It's like what are you using the mind tricks for if you're using them to slide out of a situation like Obi-Wan did on
[00:10:26 - 00:10:28] Tatooine that's like whatever I
[00:10:29 - 00:10:34] Would argue that for 99% of the time they're probably using them for the greater good
[00:10:35 - 00:10:40] To get out of a sticky situation or um, but they're definitely praying on the week
[00:10:40 - 00:10:43] I mean, I think that's a lore right is like you can only mind trick
[00:10:44 - 00:10:50] Stupid people basically. I mean if you expand the force and like really think about it people
[00:10:50 - 00:10:52] Who are force users can totally just
[00:10:53 - 00:10:59] Rake in a ton of money through gambling and just like sure I'm going to like why gone did in Phantom is I'm going to force the
[00:10:59 - 00:11:01] die to land on this number like I
[00:11:03 - 00:11:05] Think the force can be used for good and evil
[00:11:06 - 00:11:09] And there should be balance. I don't know
[00:11:10 - 00:11:17] Yeah, but I mean like I guess the Jedi creed is like truth justice etc. So I guess on paper. I agree
[00:11:18 - 00:11:21] Yeah, so there's some gray area of like
[00:11:22 - 00:11:24] using it
[00:11:24 - 00:11:26] Cuz like again, and well, I guess when
[00:11:27 - 00:11:31] Qui-Gon tries to use it on wato. That's for the greater good Obi-Wan using us for the greater good
[00:11:32 - 00:11:36] I'm trying to leave a specific situation. I'm like that was probably for bad. I know I
[00:11:37 - 00:11:40] Don't think we see a lot of sith using them all the time
[00:11:40 - 00:11:45] Which is kind of crazy actually is interesting like why wouldn't I've never really thought this intensely about Jedi mind tricks
[00:11:45 - 00:11:49] If I were a sith, I would say they're non-violent, which is
[00:11:50 - 00:11:52] Hypothetically in the Jedi code true
[00:11:53 - 00:11:55] But yeah, they're pretty deceptive I
[00:11:56 - 00:12:02] Would say I am going to agree with the stake actually also. I have a rabbit trail thought that just popped in my head go for it
[00:12:02 - 00:12:04] Why do we not have
[00:12:04 - 00:12:06] force using bounty hunters
[00:12:08 - 00:12:11] Well in the original trilogy, I feel like it made sense of
[00:12:11 - 00:12:13] There's not a lot of force users true
[00:12:14 - 00:12:16] And like you can only be trained by
[00:12:17 - 00:12:20] Basically a sith or a Jedi and like if you don't have training
[00:12:21 - 00:12:27] You kind of can't do it right which is what the prequels implied. Yeah, but then we got Clone Wars and
[00:12:28 - 00:12:31] And then like just Disney Star Wars in general kind of set like well
[00:12:31 - 00:12:34] I blew that up. You can have the force if you want it really bad
[00:12:36 - 00:12:38] I think
[00:12:39 - 00:12:45] Yeah, I don't know it's interesting like why is it just sith and Jedi? I don't know well. It's not but like
[00:12:46 - 00:12:52] I think those factions became so prominent that who who's not a sith or I mean a soca kind of I
[00:12:53 - 00:12:56] Think it's implied that there are force users throughout the galaxy that just
[00:12:57 - 00:13:02] Either barely user powers or never really use their powers and you have to get training to be strong enough to
[00:13:03 - 00:13:04] rule
[00:13:04 - 00:13:08] Other people with the force. I don't know. I don't know either. I think you're right
[00:13:09 - 00:13:13] Yeah, I say agree. How are we feel on the hotness skill for this Austin cringe?
[00:13:13 - 00:13:20] I'll take I'm gonna give some smoke some smoke. Yeah, middle of the road. Yeah, that's probably if this one's more
[00:13:20 - 00:13:27] Philosophical and not like holy crap. That's where are we morally with this? Yeah? I know I agree. Okay, all right some smoke
[00:13:27 - 00:13:29] You're up drew. I'm gonna go with
[00:13:32 - 00:13:33] And
[00:13:33 - 00:13:36] dress and dress dot
[00:13:37 - 00:13:39] 1580 all right
[00:13:39 - 00:13:42] They say you and McGregor is great as Obi-Wan, but
[00:13:42 - 00:13:49] I just think he is too young to play the character considering the Alec Guinness look in a new hope
[00:13:49 - 00:13:56] I watch the Obi-Wan TV show and don't buy us for a second that he's gonna look like out Alec Guinness in nine years
[00:13:56 - 00:14:01] In my mind yin glen could have been a better fit for the character considering the age
[00:14:01 - 00:14:04] I'm looking up in Glenn cuz I don't know who he is
[00:14:05 - 00:14:09] Yeah, that's a weird thing and that's kind of something that the Phantom Menace did of like
[00:14:10 - 00:14:12] The Obi-Wan had to be young
[00:14:12 - 00:14:18] Because he was a paddle one at that point and then they had he and Glenn looks look show a picture to me
[00:14:19 - 00:14:22] Yeah, you're kind of right. I'll put one on the screen right about that that that's good
[00:14:22 - 00:14:26] Is he in Glenn and Game of Thrones? Is that who I'm thinking about the same guy
[00:14:27 - 00:14:31] Anyway in Game of Thrones. Oh, yes, yes, I freaking know who he is too
[00:14:35 - 00:14:39] That is interesting I mean I think if you had pitched this take
[00:14:40 - 00:14:44] When the prequels are coming out, I wouldn't hate it, but now you and McGregor is showing grand and culture
[00:14:44 - 00:14:46] Like he is Obi-Wan. Yeah
[00:14:47 - 00:14:51] But I see what you're saying. Yeah, like age thing doesn't work
[00:14:51 - 00:14:57] I'd also don't buy that from Obi-Wan to New Hope like the Obi-Wan show nine years
[00:14:57 - 00:15:02] I do not buy these those hands were really crazy really wore on him
[00:15:03 - 00:15:06] No, I think this is a I agree with the take actually I don't think that's crazy
[00:15:07 - 00:15:10] I do think I kind of agree that is kind of what makes
[00:15:10 - 00:15:17] Fandomness a little erroneous in existence because like it just shouldn't have existed and made Obi-Wan too young
[00:15:17 - 00:15:19] Yeah, kind of freaked up that timeline
[00:15:21 - 00:15:22] Here's a
[00:15:22 - 00:15:27] Andress for the second take do you want to read that one too? Yeah, let's just don't double up. Ahsoka
[00:15:27 - 00:15:30] Could be a great character. This is crazy
[00:15:30 - 00:15:33] Good what okay when I watch up in the cyst
[00:15:33 - 00:15:40] I just could not buy the idea that Anakin had a paddle on off-screen and that she is in another planet fighting with Maul without even a
[00:15:40 - 00:15:42] Mention in the movie agreed, but also
[00:15:43 - 00:15:45] That's not really anybody's fault
[00:15:46 - 00:15:48] Yeah, it's like a
[00:15:48 - 00:15:53] So because a product of the Clone Wars and the storytelling of the Clone Wars is great
[00:15:53 - 00:15:59] Which is kind of why you need to like watch it chronologically and just like taking cultural context
[00:15:59 - 00:16:03] But I agree if we're talking like straight canonically this doesn't make any sense
[00:16:03 - 00:16:08] Yeah, I mean, I mean honestly if you're talking straight canonically revenge of the Sith doesn't make a lot of sense
[00:16:08 - 00:16:13] Yeah, yeah, I mean in general that is true. I would completely agree which is tragic and
[00:16:14 - 00:16:16] I've probably made a bunch of people mad with that
[00:16:16 - 00:16:19] But just like look at Anakin's character art from Clone Wars for revenge of the sith
[00:16:19 - 00:16:22] And it's a complete character reversion at the beginning of the movie
[00:16:22 - 00:16:28] I mean look at Mace Windu's right your arc like there's or character actions at least there's a lot
[00:16:28 - 00:16:30] That doesn't add up
[00:16:30 - 00:16:32] I think that's not even a crazy take at all
[00:16:32 - 00:16:38] I kind of agree to think it gets hot when you say it's so could be a good character or great character
[00:16:38 - 00:16:43] I think she she's still a really solid character. I think she's a great character. I just think
[00:16:44 - 00:16:46] Like
[00:16:46 - 00:16:50] The writing I mean it doesn't really work. You can't I don't think that's a fault of I think
[00:16:51 - 00:16:55] Lucky a soco would probably be a worst character if she was in George Lucas's prequels because she probably would have been
[00:16:56 - 00:16:58] Done a disservice. I agree
[00:16:58 - 00:17:00] So I don't know
[00:17:00 - 00:17:04] All right, let's go back to the first take hotness skill for that one
[00:17:04 - 00:17:08] I'm gonna say enough for smores. Okay, hotness still for the a soco one as well
[00:17:08 - 00:17:11] I'm gonna say also enough first one. All right. We're doubling up on enough for s'mores
[00:17:13 - 00:17:14] Alright
[00:17:14 - 00:17:16] It's my turn now
[00:17:17 - 00:17:19] Okay, we'll find a good take
[00:17:22 - 00:17:26] Oh, this is interesting this is from theater pup. Oh, I just saw that one, okay
[00:17:27 - 00:17:33] Theater pup says the prequels don't deserve a nostalgia wave and yet or and yet they very much got it and
[00:17:33 - 00:17:37] Likely so will the sequels who also don't deserve it?
[00:17:38 - 00:17:40] Huh HEE
[00:17:40 - 00:17:44] That's what was typed. That's how the soldier often works. Okay. Hey
[00:17:47 - 00:17:51] Do I agree because it is Gen Z that
[00:17:52 - 00:17:54] Gave the nostalgia way for the prequels. I
[00:17:54 - 00:18:00] Don't think the prequels were deserving of a nostalgia wave really until post-column Wars
[00:18:01 - 00:18:05] Okay, and that supplemental material
[00:18:06 - 00:18:11] My water bottle never wants to stay. I'm very curious how in like 40 years
[00:18:12 - 00:18:16] Younger kids will view the prequels. I think it will be like they were viewed when they came out
[00:18:17 - 00:18:20] No, I'm torn you think it'll still be as nostalgia because it is now
[00:18:20 - 00:18:25] I don't know see now people who love them are like they didn't even grow up on them
[00:18:26 - 00:18:31] May I really I feel like it's our generation like we grew up on these movies more than probably yeah
[00:18:31 - 00:18:33] That's probably true the generation before us
[00:18:34 - 00:18:36] and
[00:18:36 - 00:18:42] That's why I mean the reason I like the prequels is 80 percent 87 percent nostalgia
[00:18:43 - 00:18:50] There's another 17 or not 17 13 percent that is a Lego Star Wars the complete saga. Yeah, I mean, maybe it's 5% Lego Star Wars
[00:18:52 - 00:18:54] 87 percent I was a little low
[00:18:55 - 00:18:57] There is quality there
[00:18:57 - 00:19:03] But it is it is a majority of this is my childhood. Yeah. Yeah, I would agree and I do think I mean
[00:19:03 - 00:19:08] This hurts me to say but I asked my cousin I said this on a episode a while ago
[00:19:08 - 00:19:11] I asked my cousin like a long time ago
[00:19:11 - 00:19:15] He's he was like 11 right at the time. I said, what's your favorite Star Wars movie?
[00:19:16 - 00:19:22] This was probably six months ago, and he goes rise of Skywalker. That's just and I was like I cannot believe those words came out of your mouth
[00:19:22 - 00:19:23] but also
[00:19:23 - 00:19:30] Like I understand your brain is not fully formed and you can't process and good story telling good and bad story
[00:19:30 - 00:19:37] So you just look at the good CGI and you're like, no, it looks great. Looks good. There's like 20 cheap moments
[00:19:39 - 00:19:41] So I do think there will be
[00:19:42 - 00:19:43] I
[00:19:43 - 00:19:48] Yeah, okay, there will be a minute wave of sequel nostalgia there will be but I don't think it's gonna be as strong and here's why okay
[00:19:48 - 00:19:53] Why the story the overarching story of the prequels when you said this time and time again podcast?
[00:19:53 - 00:20:01] It is good like the general story that George Lucas was trying to tell was a well thought out story agreed execution was bad
[00:20:01 - 00:20:06] Yep, but that that foundation an original like unique baseline
[00:20:07 - 00:20:11] Really makes the prequels stand the test of time a little bit
[00:20:11 - 00:20:18] The sequels just don't have that true. They just don't and while I think the last Jedi is pretty strong personally
[00:20:18 - 00:20:22] I know some people disagree about whatever it just it
[00:20:22 - 00:20:24] The last Jedi is made worse by its
[00:20:25 - 00:20:31] Companions like it's just not that good the sequels aren't yeah, I mean I agree so I think endings matter a
[00:20:32 - 00:20:36] Lot in storytelling and the in nine is just horrible from a storytelling perspective
[00:20:36 - 00:20:41] And three has some good moments. Yeah, I agree. I do agree
[00:20:42 - 00:20:46] So yeah, um hotness scale and a greenest scale
[00:20:47 - 00:20:50] Oh, I mean, I'm gonna say enough for small issues because there are people
[00:20:51 - 00:20:56] In our comments and in general who love the prequels. Yeah, and we'll fight for them till the day they die
[00:20:57 - 00:20:59] I kind of agree though
[00:20:59 - 00:21:03] All right, you're up. All right. We're gonna go with
[00:21:03 - 00:21:07] Okay, snow tangerine
[00:21:09 - 00:21:11] Okay
[00:21:11 - 00:21:14] Here we go. They say, okay. Not sure if this is a hot take
[00:21:15 - 00:21:21] Or not sure if this hot take was mentioned or not, but it's one I believe pretty strongly the sequel trilogy
[00:21:21 - 00:21:26] Oh my gosh, I this was completely random guys. I promise we'll receive a wave of fan revisionism
[00:21:26 - 00:21:31] All right, let's double down this topic in the way that the prequels have we're still too early for it
[00:21:31 - 00:21:37] I think people denying this will happen are either too young to truly remember the prequel hate or are purely coping
[00:21:37 - 00:21:42] Maybe an insecurity with their love of the prequels has something to do with it. That's hilarious
[00:21:42 - 00:21:46] I think prequel adults have become a real thing if you look at the timeline
[00:21:46 - 00:21:49] The prequels did not receive the mass amount of love into the last few years
[00:21:50 - 00:21:55] By that metric we're still about a decade away from the 2010 kids who will defend the people with their lives
[00:21:55 - 00:21:57] As they come of age
[00:21:57 - 00:22:02] They will see the star the star wars or the sequel trilogy as a complete star complete story
[00:22:03 - 00:22:05] free from fan expectations
[00:22:06 - 00:22:09] We kind of already talked about this. That's hilarious. That was a take take I picked
[00:22:10 - 00:22:13] I do think I still agree with you. I think the fact that
[00:22:14 - 00:22:17] there's a good story under the prequels is is
[00:22:18 - 00:22:21] Why people can fight for it so hard even if it's super
[00:22:22 - 00:22:24] corny at times. Yeah, I mean
[00:22:25 - 00:22:27] There might be people who can argue there's a good story behind
[00:22:29 - 00:22:33] Like a good overarching trilogy story in the sequel trilogy is just not there
[00:22:34 - 00:22:38] I mean in the same way it's just not executed well
[00:22:38 - 00:22:40] From a pure like set up
[00:22:41 - 00:22:43] story-telling aspect, right?
[00:22:46 - 00:22:47] I'll say this I think
[00:22:47 - 00:22:48] You're right
[00:22:48 - 00:22:53] Prequel adults exist. True. We are probably a byproduct of that
[00:22:53 - 00:22:55] Although I would say that we are probably harsher on the prequels than other
[00:22:56 - 00:23:02] Film bro podcasts or so we're called. Yeah, I like that. Um
[00:23:03 - 00:23:06] I think there's good good parts and bad parts. I would say the same about the sequels
[00:23:07 - 00:23:10] I am not going to deny that there will be a
[00:23:11 - 00:23:17] Like nostalgia way for the sequels. Sure. There will be I just don't think it's going to be as strong and also
[00:23:17 - 00:23:22] Yeah, there's not seven seasons of an animated tv show. That's pretty high quality
[00:23:22 - 00:23:27] That you know flushes out the sequels and I mean that also
[00:23:28 - 00:23:30] Added to it because
[00:23:30 - 00:23:34] Like we're not only growing up with the prequels, but we're growing up with Anakin obi one in the soak
[00:23:34 - 00:23:39] There was an immersion in that world. So when Anakin comes in in a movie. I'm like, I know Anakin
[00:23:39 - 00:23:43] I love Anakin. We spent there for me. I love the prequels. Yeah
[00:23:44 - 00:23:47] There's not no one's like. Oh my gosh. I love po
[00:23:48 - 00:23:51] I mean like I like some people are I'm sure but not not in the same way
[00:23:51 - 00:23:53] There's not an attachment that we have
[00:23:54 - 00:23:55] Similar
[00:23:55 - 00:24:02] Yeah in the in the sequels. I think it's a good take. I don't think we are denying that there will be a
[00:24:03 - 00:24:05] I don't know in the soldier wave. Yeah
[00:24:05 - 00:24:09] Okay, and then well, there's another take. Yeah, there's another take
[00:24:10 - 00:24:15] Um, this is still from snow tangerine six. Okay star wars
[00:24:15 - 00:24:18] Has never put on an irredeemably bad movie
[00:24:18 - 00:24:22] Even the right skywalker has that embrace the pulp aspect
[00:24:23 - 00:24:25] To it that embrace the pulp. I don't know what that means
[00:24:26 - 00:24:28] Do you know what that means? Like
[00:24:29 - 00:24:32] Like embrace the bad stuff with the good stuff
[00:24:32 - 00:24:37] Like okay, drink some orange juice and like there's gonna be pulp in it, right? I like pulpy oranges
[00:24:38 - 00:24:40] That's not helping this argument true
[00:24:41 - 00:24:47] Uh, I haven't finished embrace a pulp aspect to it that ensures it will have its defenders
[00:24:47 - 00:24:51] As all things star wars eventually will even when star wars is bad. It's good
[00:24:52 - 00:24:57] I die cannot get behind I can I will firmly disagree with this like I I think
[00:24:58 - 00:25:05] You can argue mando and grogu isn't irredeemably bad. Whatever same with the prequels. Whatever I can say they don't
[00:25:06 - 00:25:10] Do everything right but they have some redeemable qualities, right?
[00:25:11 - 00:25:16] Rise of skywalker is irredeemably bad. I would I said this I think on a podcast recently
[00:25:16 - 00:25:19] I would rather the rise of skywalker not exist and we are left
[00:25:20 - 00:25:24] On a 30-year cliffhanger from the last Jedi then have rise of skywalker exists
[00:25:25 - 00:25:27] I truly think in my heart of hearts
[00:25:28 - 00:25:31] That you would have to be delusional like
[00:25:32 - 00:25:35] Just remove logic entirely from your brain to call this a good movie
[00:25:35 - 00:25:39] Now hear me say if you like this movie and can still say it's bad
[00:25:40 - 00:25:44] That's fine. I don't have a problem with that if you're like, I just like it. I like the CGI
[00:25:44 - 00:25:46] I like the the fun moments here
[00:25:47 - 00:25:51] But I can still see they fly now like I can still see this is a objectively bad movie
[00:25:52 - 00:25:54] I don't care. That's fine. We can still be happy friends
[00:25:55 - 00:25:58] But if you look at me in the eye and you say the rise of skywalker is is a good movie
[00:25:59 - 00:26:02] I'm trying to think of one redeemable quality that isn't composite from
[00:26:03 - 00:26:07] Another star wars movie and I just can't think of it. Yeah, I mean the macguffins in this movie are insane
[00:26:08 - 00:26:10] The plot doesn't make any sense
[00:26:10 - 00:26:14] The driving driver does nothing the plot contrivances are just out of this world
[00:26:15 - 00:26:18] Palpatine somehow palpatine returned they fly now
[00:26:19 - 00:26:21] I'm the spy. I'm like this movie is just bad
[00:26:22 - 00:26:26] It's really bad. So this is the worst movie we've watched for the podcast by far. Yeah
[00:26:27 - 00:26:29] Like I don't think it's close. It's the only movie that we've given
[00:26:30 - 00:26:32] Avoid it all avoid it all costs
[00:26:33 - 00:26:37] Yeah, hey, uh, okay for the first snow tangerine take
[00:26:37 - 00:26:40] Where are we on the hotness scale? I don't know if this is necessarily a hot take
[00:26:40 - 00:26:43] It's more of like an interesting kind of like we'll see where it goes take
[00:26:43 - 00:26:48] So I'm gonna say enough for smoke. No, I blended it some smoke some smoke. That's what I meant
[00:26:48 - 00:26:51] What about the second take raging fire?
[00:26:52 - 00:26:53] Maybe
[00:26:53 - 00:26:55] Yeah, I agree. Okay
[00:26:55 - 00:26:57] I I just have to agree
[00:26:58 - 00:27:00] All right
[00:27:01 - 00:27:03] It's my turn. Yep
[00:27:03 - 00:27:04] Oh
[00:27:04 - 00:27:08] Gosh, I'm I'm speaking the one right beneath it drew, but this one is crazy. This is really good
[00:27:09 - 00:27:16] Anakin should never have been the chosen one period. Okay. This is from this is from Ryan shot in 1972. Yes
[00:27:17 - 00:27:19] Here is my thing. Tell me your thing
[00:27:21 - 00:27:23] Sometimes we get takes here
[00:27:23 - 00:27:27] Where the take of the sentence and it should have been a paragraph and sometimes we get takes that is a paragraph
[00:27:27 - 00:27:30] It should have been a sentence. Yes. This is definitely one of the ones that's like we needed
[00:27:30 - 00:27:32] We need some reasons to back this up
[00:27:33 - 00:27:38] But we don't have any you're saying in universe or the chosen one shouldn't exist. Those are two different things good question two different things
[00:27:39 - 00:27:44] Um, Anakin should never been yeah, we got my my first question is why in universe?
[00:27:44 - 00:27:47] Yes, he should have been at least heralded as the chosen one
[00:27:47 - 00:27:53] I mean, did you watch the mortis episodes? He he's the one that should have brought balance to the force
[00:27:54 - 00:27:56] Should the chosen one exist? I think no
[00:27:56 - 00:28:01] I also think no or I think it should have been different like the chosen one is a mantle of like
[00:28:02 - 00:28:07] This is the you know the jedi the person who's going to lead the jedi who's going to bring
[00:28:08 - 00:28:09] balance and
[00:28:09 - 00:28:15] Take down the sith etc. Etc. Yeah, it's not really conveyed that way throughout the nine movies. And so
[00:28:16 - 00:28:20] It doesn't really matter agreed. I don't know so ryan
[00:28:20 - 00:28:24] Please give us your reasons on why yes, and we will continue this in another
[00:28:25 - 00:28:26] Hot takes episode
[00:28:26 - 00:28:28] Uh, how hot is this take drew?
[00:28:28 - 00:28:30] Oh
[00:28:31 - 00:28:32] Enough for smores
[00:28:32 - 00:28:36] Yeah, fine with that. Okay enough for sports enough for sports. All right, drew you're up
[00:28:37 - 00:28:39] It's okay
[00:28:40 - 00:28:41] Oh
[00:28:41 - 00:28:44] Okay, this is good. This is also one right below the other one. This is a good one
[00:28:45 - 00:28:48] This is from mr. Bones underscore ink shout out to you
[00:28:48 - 00:28:50] spoilers for mando and grogu
[00:28:51 - 00:28:55] The mandalorian and grogu movie is not pointless because den takes out two
[00:28:56 - 00:28:59] New heads of the hut clan and rescues the heir to the hut empire
[00:29:00 - 00:29:03] And he will be working with the new republic as seen at the end of the movie
[00:29:04 - 00:29:09] Opening up hut space to be annexed by the new republic, which is great news for people who live there
[00:29:09 - 00:29:12] It's a great movie to jump back into star wars if you haven't seen it in a long time
[00:29:13 - 00:29:15] Now it is a compared to the original trilogy not really
[00:29:15 - 00:29:19] But for a swashbuckling mandalorian adventure with lowish steaks. It's a great film
[00:29:20 - 00:29:23] Love the podcast. Hope you guys see this can't wait to see the next hot takes discussion
[00:29:24 - 00:29:26] Thank you mr. Bones. Thank you for sending this in
[00:29:26 - 00:29:31] Um, okay, I need I need to go back in the recess in my memory and think about this movie while you do that
[00:29:31 - 00:29:33] I'm gonna start talking if that's okay. Yeah, that's fine. Um
[00:29:34 - 00:29:40] If you are talking like let's say you are living in the star wars universe, right? Yes, I'm sure these
[00:29:40 - 00:29:47] Events have this is the great argument impact within the universe. I will give that to you 3 million percent
[00:29:48 - 00:29:52] Here's what I'm not going to give you. You know who I didn't know who existed before this movie came out
[00:29:53 - 00:29:55] Either of these hut clan the hut twins
[00:29:55 - 00:29:58] um, you know the who doesn't really appear in
[00:29:59 - 00:30:05] The sequel trilogy or have any known significant impacts as of now rod of the hut rod of the hut
[00:30:06 - 00:30:08] Um, didn't yarn. Yeah, I'm groku
[00:30:09 - 00:30:14] So I'm not saying that like the mandalorian shouldn't exist or we shouldn't introduce new characters
[00:30:14 - 00:30:16] That I completely agree
[00:30:17 - 00:30:19] That that it should exist
[00:30:20 - 00:30:22] What I get hung up on is that we spent
[00:30:22 - 00:30:24] A two-hour movie
[00:30:24 - 00:30:28] With characters that the the movie itself the characters don't really grow in my opinion
[00:30:29 - 00:30:32] I don't think we get basically any character growth from din or from grogu
[00:30:33 - 00:30:35] We just have like a fun adventure which is fine
[00:30:36 - 00:30:40] And then rada is rada. Whatever I like jeremy allen white
[00:30:41 - 00:30:46] Yes, I'll give him that but that's insane actually now that we've watched the bear like oh, wow
[00:30:46 - 00:30:48] Yeah, it is kind of insane. I think
[00:30:48 - 00:30:50] The the hut twins dying though
[00:30:51 - 00:30:54] Like it just doesn't feel like it matters at all because
[00:30:54 - 00:30:58] We are introduced to them and then they die an hour later and you're like, okay, whatever like
[00:30:59 - 00:31:04] So it's it's a it's you know net zero. You don't get anything. You don't lose anything
[00:31:05 - 00:31:07] Yeah, I mean I think
[00:31:08 - 00:31:11] When we say pointless or at least when I say pointless regarding this movie
[00:31:13 - 00:31:15] I think you made a good clarification of like in universe
[00:31:15 - 00:31:20] It has a point and maybe in mandalorian season four or mandalorian group two or whatever
[00:31:20 - 00:31:27] It'll it'll continue sure but in the greater star wars universe and specifically for like fans
[00:31:28 - 00:31:33] When you don't tell a super engaging story and your plot is super self-contained. It doesn't really go anywhere
[00:31:35 - 00:31:37] That's when like the pointless allegations
[00:31:37 - 00:31:41] I feel like have a have a pretty strong argument like at least in solo
[00:31:42 - 00:31:45] We know ha and solo go somewhere at least in row one. We know
[00:31:45 - 00:31:49] Oh, this is why the death star plans are important because this is what happens in a new hope
[00:31:50 - 00:31:54] In mando and grogu, none of the characters really amount to much at least right now
[00:31:55 - 00:31:57] And I would argue that solo and rogue one
[00:31:58 - 00:32:01] Like rogue one is a good movie. Yes. It has some great story
[00:32:02 - 00:32:05] It has a good story great visuals
[00:32:05 - 00:32:06] Um
[00:32:06 - 00:32:11] That is an entertaining movie solo is fun. The plot twists are good. The chemistry is great
[00:32:11 - 00:32:16] The acting is solid. He's not Harrison Ford, but that's okay. Yes. I completely agree
[00:32:16 - 00:32:19] And if mando had some interesting plot twists and was fun
[00:32:21 - 00:32:24] Like I it would be fine. And I think mando was
[00:32:25 - 00:32:27] The bare amount of fun
[00:32:27 - 00:32:28] maybe
[00:32:28 - 00:32:34] And visually okay. I mean like it and I mean I would you say is like the character arcs are not here
[00:32:35 - 00:32:37] Yeah, like dinjarin
[00:32:37 - 00:32:40] doesn't really have a character arc grogu kind of does but like
[00:32:41 - 00:32:43] I mean, I feel like you can
[00:32:43 - 00:32:48] Probably let's say season 4 of mando comes out. You could probably skip this movie
[00:32:49 - 00:32:52] Completely yeah, probably and it you'd be fine
[00:32:53 - 00:32:56] You could skip this movie on your star wars watch through
[00:32:56 - 00:32:59] I mean like if we watch star wars chronologically and include mandalorian and grogu
[00:33:00 - 00:33:03] We'd be like, why did we watch that this yeah, this adds nothing it adds nothing
[00:33:04 - 00:33:05] So
[00:33:05 - 00:33:09] I see where you're coming from a little bit, but I just vehemently disagree. Yeah
[00:33:10 - 00:33:12] So hotness guild drew
[00:33:12 - 00:33:15] I'm gonna say enough for smarsh. I feel like I've done that a lot, but
[00:33:17 - 00:33:21] Yeah, I I don't think it's I mean, I think this take is kind of hot but not like
[00:33:22 - 00:33:26] Raging fire. Yeah, I agree. Maybe I should say some smoke. I don't even know
[00:33:27 - 00:33:29] Oh man, dude. I just found
[00:33:29 - 00:33:35] A bang in all right hit me with a bang intake. Are you ready? Yeah, you're not I'm not hot take the separatists were right
[00:33:35 - 00:33:37] Oh, wow, okay
[00:33:37 - 00:33:40] One used droids instead of clones
[00:33:43 - 00:33:49] Number two originally left because the senate gave voting rights to evil corporations despite being a chaotic hell
[00:33:49 - 00:33:53] If a galaxy every political moment is between a rock and hard place
[00:33:53 - 00:33:56] I didn't really fully understand that. I don't know what that means. Yeah
[00:33:56 - 00:34:00] We get the gist, but off rip the planets who tried to proceed
[00:34:01 - 00:34:05] They were in the right. Okay, so the idea is that the separatists
[00:34:05 - 00:34:07] Were a little more morally
[00:34:08 - 00:34:10] Or ethically good
[00:34:11 - 00:34:13] I don't know so
[00:34:13 - 00:34:18] I need to refresh my lore of it's all worse politics
[00:34:18 - 00:34:23] Yes, but if you're saying and if i'm understanding this correctly that when the separatists left
[00:34:24 - 00:34:26] the senate
[00:34:26 - 00:34:30] It's because that the senate gave voting rights to evil corporations
[00:34:31 - 00:34:33] and kind of like
[00:34:33 - 00:34:35] Got corrupt in that way. I agree
[00:34:35 - 00:34:41] But then I would argue that the separatists became a small and vulnerable faction that was easily manipulated by the sith
[00:34:42 - 00:34:43] And at that point
[00:34:43 - 00:34:47] They became evil and no longer right, but then like yeah ethically
[00:34:48 - 00:34:52] Using droids instead of clones while they aren't using droids for good intentions
[00:34:53 - 00:34:57] They still didn't like create copies of humans and then kill them all
[00:34:58 - 00:35:01] Right, but they also used the droids as an army
[00:35:02 - 00:35:04] Yes, I know
[00:35:05 - 00:35:06] But yes
[00:35:06 - 00:35:12] It's all like if if in our country they were invading us with droids and killing much of my friends
[00:35:12 - 00:35:16] I was like, hey, they're using droids though. They're not using clones. Yeah, like they could be using humans
[00:35:17 - 00:35:19] It would be good. Um
[00:35:19 - 00:35:21] I think I disagree here
[00:35:21 - 00:35:23] I think I see where you're coming from now
[00:35:24 - 00:35:26] I do I
[00:35:26 - 00:35:27] hmm
[00:35:27 - 00:35:31] Here's the thing. I think the separatists are probably more in the right than the republic
[00:35:32 - 00:35:36] And now you have to take that with the giant asterisk of
[00:35:36 - 00:35:39] Sidious is manipulating both. Yeah, I mean that's true
[00:35:39 - 00:35:45] And so if like in episode three if we're pitting them against each other the separatists probably have a little bit more going for them
[00:35:47 - 00:35:51] But then the sith are worse than the Jedi so right I don't know
[00:35:52 - 00:35:54] Yeah, I mean I it's kind of like
[00:35:56 - 00:35:59] When you get to two and three it doesn't necessarily matter because
[00:36:00 - 00:36:03] I mean even one Palpatine's just manipulating everyone. So like
[00:36:05 - 00:36:09] At that point, I feel like you have to zoom out and say, okay Palpatine's wrong the Jedi are right
[00:36:09 - 00:36:13] Well, yeah, and again and Obi-Wan and look Padme right? Yeah
[00:36:15 - 00:36:18] So I like this take this. Oh, yeah, I like this is interesting. Yeah
[00:36:19 - 00:36:21] Oh hotness scale drew
[00:36:21 - 00:36:23] Oh, I'm gonna save some smoke
[00:36:23 - 00:36:27] Yeah, okay. I like that. I like that. All right, you're right
[00:36:27 - 00:36:31] We are going to go with parker burris
[00:36:32 - 00:36:35] Parker two eight nine. Okay
[00:36:35 - 00:36:39] Hot take all the upcoming star wars video games are way more interesting than the upcoming movies
[00:36:40 - 00:36:44] I'm about to look up upcoming video games because I don't know if I can name any
[00:36:44 - 00:36:46] Okay
[00:36:46 - 00:36:48] Sorry, I'm pulling up this take
[00:36:48 - 00:36:49] um
[00:36:49 - 00:36:50] Well
[00:36:50 - 00:36:54] It's like repeating. I guess starfighter against whatever games are coming up
[00:36:55 - 00:37:00] Okay, we have coder remake is our what nice to the old republic remake. Is that happening?
[00:37:02 - 00:37:03] I don't know
[00:37:03 - 00:37:05] We have star wars zero company
[00:37:06 - 00:37:08] Which is a single player turn based tactics game
[00:37:08 - 00:37:15] Okay from bit and respawn set during the gritty shadowy era of the clone wars and it's launching on pc playstation 5 and xbox
[00:37:16 - 00:37:20] Okay, cool. Okay. We have galactic racer, which is like a racing game pod racing game
[00:37:22 - 00:37:24] We have star wars eclipse
[00:37:24 - 00:37:26] Okay, I've seen this trailer an ambitious multiple
[00:37:27 - 00:37:30] Character branching narrative game set in the high republic era
[00:37:30 - 00:37:33] Currently developed by quantum dreams. That sounds sick
[00:37:34 - 00:37:36] I've seen the trailer the trailer. It was like a
[00:37:36 - 00:37:38] It wasn't a gameplay trailer, but it looked pretty sick
[00:37:39 - 00:37:43] We do have a nice of the old republic remake. We have a fate of the old republic
[00:37:44 - 00:37:46] an action rpg being developed by
[00:37:47 - 00:37:49] acronaut studios
[00:37:49 - 00:37:52] And then we have star wars jedi
[00:37:52 - 00:37:53] three
[00:37:53 - 00:37:57] Which is a third installment in the respawn entertainment following calcastus
[00:37:59 - 00:38:04] You know what I don't understand about video games. This is just such a side tangent is that like
[00:38:04 - 00:38:08] A studio will work on a game and then it'll just get scrapped. Yeah, it's pretty crazy
[00:38:08 - 00:38:14] Where does all that money go? Like that is wild. It baffles me. You know what I want tell me pretty desperately
[00:38:14 - 00:38:16] Tell me give me battlefront three. I know
[00:38:17 - 00:38:20] Dude, it's just free money. It's free money. You're you're printing money
[00:38:21 - 00:38:24] People are clamoring for it. People are modding your second game
[00:38:24 - 00:38:27] Like who may get better to make it better just
[00:38:28 - 00:38:30] Look at what they're doing and make
[00:38:30 - 00:38:35] I mean even like star wars battlefront two remastered where you add a bunch of mods but make it official
[00:38:35 - 00:38:37] That's sick
[00:38:38 - 00:38:41] Um, but star wars eclipse sounds sick. It does
[00:38:42 - 00:38:48] So honestly, obviously nights of the old republic is one of the greatest games ever made also true. So remake i'm interested in
[00:38:48 - 00:38:51] Um, i'm honestly gonna say yes. I agree with this take
[00:38:52 - 00:38:56] I'd say I am more excited for at least three of those game releases than star fighter
[00:38:56 - 00:38:59] Yep, I'd love to be proven wrong, but I probably won't so
[00:39:00 - 00:39:01] So I agree
[00:39:01 - 00:39:03] All right, I don't even know this take is that hot
[00:39:03 - 00:39:05] Uh, I think I mean
[00:39:06 - 00:39:09] Is anyone I mean again, it's kind of too far out to say
[00:39:10 - 00:39:14] Like if starfighter will be good, but I'm not hearing a lot of buzz around the movies
[00:39:15 - 00:39:17] Well, it's also like any year, but
[00:39:18 - 00:39:24] I'm gonna say this is only embers. Okay. I think that's fine. This is a great take though. Great take. I like this
[00:39:25 - 00:39:28] Okay, I'm gonna pull one up for us. Okay
[00:39:31 - 00:39:33] Um
[00:39:34 - 00:39:40] Okay, oh, this is a really cool one. I meant to get to last episode. Okay, this is from wild west wagyu wagyu
[00:39:42 - 00:39:46] Oh, dude, we just watched the bear. What is this? How do you pronounce this? Wait? Where is this? I can't find it
[00:39:46 - 00:39:53] It's a little further down. Okay. Anyway, I can't pronounce that. Oh wagyu wagyu wagyu. I don't know. Sure. Sure
[00:39:54 - 00:39:56] Say it confidently with your chest
[00:39:56 - 00:39:59] My hot take is this one which is perfect for this podcast this person notes
[00:40:00 - 00:40:04] Star Wars should be considered a as a vast collection of campfire stories
[00:40:04 - 00:40:09] Where the viewer can pick and choose what is canon to them and create their perfect timeline
[00:40:09 - 00:40:12] Okay, think about it this way if you try to get everything in order
[00:40:12 - 00:40:15] It wouldn't make for as impactful of a narrative
[00:40:15 - 00:40:20] Star Wars is simply too bloated and argued over and this mindset fixes it
[00:40:21 - 00:40:26] As a band-aid solution. This isn't that bad. Yeah, it's not terrible. Is it the long-term fix? No
[00:40:27 - 00:40:32] I'm not sure there is a long-term fix. Yeah, so you're I guess you're saying that you can just pick and choose
[00:40:33 - 00:40:36] What you want and then your perfect star wars timeline
[00:40:38 - 00:40:42] So it's like, oh, I don't like acolyte, but I do like clone wars. Yeah
[00:40:43 - 00:40:47] That's not crazy. I mean, I feel like people kind of already do that subconsciously of like
[00:40:47 - 00:40:49] When you really love something
[00:40:49 - 00:40:54] Like I'll take this from clone wars, but not this from phantom menace and this from whatever
[00:40:54 - 00:40:56] I mean, yeah, you think about the way that people talk about
[00:40:57 - 00:41:02] Star Wars movies. They talk about the original George Lucas saga one way
[00:41:02 - 00:41:05] Yeah, and then like oh, but then disney ruined it
[00:41:05 - 00:41:09] Well, even you drew when you talk about Luke Skywalker as your favorite arc
[00:41:09 - 00:41:12] And I asked you do you include the last Jedi in that and you said no
[00:41:12 - 00:41:13] Yeah, that's true
[00:41:13 - 00:41:16] Like we do this and so I don't think it's the worst thing
[00:41:17 - 00:41:19] to say that this should be a
[00:41:19 - 00:41:21] campfire
[00:41:21 - 00:41:26] You pick what you want kind of deal, but also like you get what you get and don't put your fit
[00:41:27 - 00:41:29] I think there is tension here. I I kind of agree
[00:41:31 - 00:41:35] That this is a decent solution to our our star wars problem. I I yeah
[00:41:35 - 00:41:37] Yeah
[00:41:38 - 00:41:39] For right now
[00:41:39 - 00:41:42] Yeah, but one day way down the line and I hate remakes more than
[00:41:43 - 00:41:46] Literally anybody when disney comes to us and says hey boys. You want to remake star wars?
[00:41:46 - 00:41:50] When disney sells star wars and the next company comes to us and says hey and stole my line purchases
[00:41:50 - 00:41:56] And we in all of our grace and our wisdom say yes, we will do this
[00:41:56 - 00:42:00] We will use all of what was made before including legends as
[00:42:01 - 00:42:04] Our source material and make the best star wars movies we can
[00:42:05 - 00:42:08] That'll be wild that would be wild. Um, how hot do you think it's this?
[00:42:12 - 00:42:15] Nowadays this guy'd be only embers. Yeah, I kind of agree
[00:42:15 - 00:42:19] Um, if you were to say this 15 20 years ago, I'd be like whoa, whoa, whoa
[00:42:20 - 00:42:22] But now yeah, no, that's fair
[00:42:24 - 00:42:26] Oh
[00:42:26 - 00:42:31] Got one true. Yeah, this is pretty wild. Okay. I think we've already done this guy though, but that's okay
[00:42:31 - 00:42:33] I will one
[00:42:33 - 00:42:37] Oh, we have we'll we'll follow it up with another. Yeah, these are quick hot take
[00:42:37 - 00:42:40] His first one here is you can skip the phantom and it doesn't hurt the prequels
[00:42:41 - 00:42:46] We agree. Yes, that was already we've kind of said that a billion times. Um, so totally agree there
[00:42:47 - 00:42:52] Crazy hot take instead of the sequels the disney trilogy would have been better off as an original
[00:42:54 - 00:42:56] Original trilogy remakes
[00:42:56 - 00:42:57] Not prequel
[00:42:57 - 00:43:00] Was that a typo because that's no that's
[00:43:01 - 00:43:04] That it says ot original trilogy I copy and pasted that junk. Wow
[00:43:06 - 00:43:12] Um, this is raging fire. This is the craziest take I may have heard all this series double raging fire
[00:43:13 - 00:43:16] Yeah, we stacked two. I'm just gonna make it big and like
[00:43:16 - 00:43:18] It's gonna be on fire
[00:43:18 - 00:43:23] This is probably one of the craziest takes I've ever read. This is insane. I don't think that a uh
[00:43:24 - 00:43:28] In a perfect world all nine movies would be cohesive, right?
[00:43:28 - 00:43:32] So original trilogy remakes are inevitable at some point
[00:43:33 - 00:43:35] I hate that, but it's true
[00:43:35 - 00:43:42] But saying that disney shouldn't have made sequels. They should have just remade the original trilogy. No, that's wild prequels
[00:43:42 - 00:43:47] I can hear an argument for prequels not original trilogy. Yeah, this is this is insane firm disagree
[00:43:47 - 00:43:49] Luda her stake saddens me
[00:43:49 - 00:43:53] Raging fire raging fire onto the next one. We disagree
[00:43:53 - 00:43:57] Um, but thank you for seeing that in yes, we appreciate you. All right. Let me find one for us
[00:43:58 - 00:44:02] Um, this is a fun one while I find another one. This is from the world according to hawns
[00:44:03 - 00:44:06] I love your name. By the way. This is awesome. Um, I like sand
[00:44:07 - 00:44:12] It's not that coarse rough or irritating and it doesn't get everywhere if you don't let it
[00:44:14 - 00:44:16] That's that's the tape
[00:44:17 - 00:44:21] Um, that's hilarious. All right. I want to I want to take this seriously for a second because this is funny
[00:44:22 - 00:44:23] Um
[00:44:23 - 00:44:26] If you like sand, that's great. I like this feeling of sand between my toes
[00:44:26 - 00:44:31] I don't actually really. Yeah. I look at you look like you wouldn't like sand. I don't like the beach either
[00:44:31 - 00:44:36] What I know like mountains more. Yeah, that fits our vibe actually mountains more too. Oh, really? Yeah, totally
[00:44:36 - 00:44:40] You go to the beach a lot. Yeah. Well, I like once a year, but it's just kind of any old thing
[00:44:41 - 00:44:44] Yeah, but we go to a cabin in the mountains like all the time. It's way better
[00:44:45 - 00:44:51] I love in the fall. Oh my god. Have a weekend better by a fire way better. Um, yeah
[00:44:52 - 00:44:54] Okay, it's not that coarse
[00:44:54 - 00:44:59] It is sand is well wet sand. No, it's just nasty. Sand's gross
[00:44:59 - 00:45:02] It's uh, it's not that rough. It is
[00:45:03 - 00:45:06] It's not always that rough, but it it's pretty rough
[00:45:07 - 00:45:14] Or irritating not gonna lie. It's irritating some rashes can happen. Yeah some shaping can happen. Oh brutal
[00:45:14 - 00:45:18] Um, I do like a nice walk on the beach. No, I do. Yeah, like I can get behind that
[00:45:18 - 00:45:23] Okay, you just redeem yourself like two percent in my mind, but I just uh like I don't think
[00:45:24 - 00:45:27] I don't know if I was by a beach just happened stansily
[00:45:27 - 00:45:31] That's a word now. That's a word. I would go walk on the beach
[00:45:31 - 00:45:34] Yeah, I don't think I'm ever going to drive actively to pursue the beach
[00:45:34 - 00:45:40] I like looking at beach sunsets more than I like playing in the sand on the beach. Yes. I love some spike ball
[00:45:41 - 00:45:43] Yeah, but you can play spike ball in a park
[00:45:43 - 00:45:46] No, but diving in the sand is more fun. It is more fun. That's true
[00:45:46 - 00:45:49] Okay, okay, I'm white by the way if you can't tell
[00:45:50 - 00:45:55] Um, this is the last part and it doesn't get everywhere if you don't let it false
[00:45:55 - 00:46:01] It does no matter how hard you try it gets everywhere. Listen. I went to the beach a few weeks ago
[00:46:01 - 00:46:04] I had a beach bag. I got back to my house
[00:46:04 - 00:46:10] Weeks weeks later. I put a book in my beach bag and then I found sand in the pages right from weeks prior
[00:46:11 - 00:46:13] So it does get everywhere
[00:46:13 - 00:46:14] Um
[00:46:14 - 00:46:16] Firm disagree. How hot is this take?
[00:46:17 - 00:46:21] People love the beach. I'm gonna say some smo enough for smallers. Okay, sure
[00:46:23 - 00:46:28] That's funny. We'll go with that. We appreciate the bed. We gave that a lot of thought
[00:46:29 - 00:46:36] All right, true. You just pick one. Okay. We are gonna go randomly here. We're gonna go for disco
[00:46:36 - 00:46:38] It's spelled dis
[00:46:39 - 00:46:41] qoe
[00:46:41 - 00:46:45] Disco, that's kind of cool. Actually, I like that 1763
[00:46:46 - 00:46:50] What are all are these years or just random strings? Is this your birth year?
[00:46:50 - 00:46:52] Be honest shut up
[00:46:52 - 00:46:58] Uh, my hot take disney should outright take a break on modern star wars and just focus on the old republic
[00:46:58 - 00:47:03] I think they should try to canonize some of the eu material that it's out there because some of it is so good
[00:47:03 - 00:47:07] For example, darth raven and the mandalorian wars darth bane and etc
[00:47:08 - 00:47:11] This should be an easy w and especially
[00:47:12 - 00:47:15] Win back star wars fans. It doesn't even
[00:47:15 - 00:47:17] Have to be
[00:47:17 - 00:47:21] One to one and some of that material could help maybe set up some future things down the line
[00:47:22 - 00:47:25] I would love to see the mandalorian star wars on screen and
[00:47:26 - 00:47:29] And origins of charry
[00:47:29 - 00:47:31] Vissal
[00:47:31 - 00:47:35] The mandalorian jedi you guys are awesome. Keep up the work. We appreciate that
[00:47:36 - 00:47:38] Grant what caused the rage?
[00:47:40 - 00:47:42] That's what we've been saying
[00:47:43 - 00:47:45] Honestly, I might just
[00:47:45 - 00:47:50] I might just quit podcasting. It's true. We have been saying this. It wasn't rage. It was more just an outverse of emotion
[00:47:50 - 00:47:54] Yeah, and that's understandable and it's kind of a star wars thing for me to throw chairs every now and then
[00:47:55 - 00:48:00] Um, I like this take I agree with this take. Yep. We agree. I don't know all the characters you just listed
[00:48:00 - 00:48:02] But either way great, but I yeah, I'm sure they're awesome
[00:48:03 - 00:48:05] Um disney needs to lock down what they're doing
[00:48:06 - 00:48:09] Hang out in one area for a little bit. Yeah
[00:48:10 - 00:48:13] I mean grant has cooked up this idea that I think is really good. I think we we both have
[00:48:14 - 00:48:17] Yeah, man. I feel like it was it's originating your brain. So I'm gonna give a credit sure
[00:48:17 - 00:48:23] Um to do like a lord of the ring saying where you pick one director you say hey peter jackson, but not
[00:48:24 - 00:48:29] Here is your time to play around in star wars. Go make a cohesive trilogy and
[00:48:30 - 00:48:33] We out film it all at once and make it as cohesive as he only possible
[00:48:34 - 00:48:35] And I think it could be awesome
[00:48:35 - 00:48:40] And I think the older public like you said disco is a great place to play so much there
[00:48:41 - 00:48:43] So we agree 10 million percent
[00:48:45 - 00:48:47] Yeah, it's all she wrote man. All she wrote on that one disco
[00:48:48 - 00:48:52] I don't think it's hot at all. I think people and that's the other crazy thing is like
[00:48:52 - 00:48:54] People have been asking for this for so long
[00:48:55 - 00:48:58] And yet and yet disney is just shooting themselves in the foot
[00:48:58 - 00:49:00] repeatedly
[00:49:00 - 00:49:02] We only embers or uh
[00:49:03 - 00:49:07] I think this might be wet logs. Let's go wet logs at least from our perspective
[00:49:07 - 00:49:09] But I freaking love the take great take
[00:49:10 - 00:49:12] All right, that's awesome
[00:49:14 - 00:49:17] Um, okay, let me find one. Okay
[00:49:20 - 00:49:23] Okay, this is this is an interesting one. This is from ectochrome. That's a cool name
[00:49:23 - 00:49:26] That is a cool name ectochrome sounds like it's from tron
[00:49:26 - 00:49:28] um
[00:49:28 - 00:49:33] Hot take while isoka is still one of my goats. She has vastly overstayed her welcome and her legacy
[00:49:34 - 00:49:39] Plus the series as a whole would probably be better off in terms of shaving down general bloat
[00:49:40 - 00:49:43] She had died during rebels or clonwurst season five died
[00:49:44 - 00:49:49] Uh, I'm gonna say not during clonwurst season five. She shouldn't have died then her goodbye is more impactful for anakin
[00:49:50 - 00:49:52] But during rebels. Yeah
[00:49:53 - 00:49:55] She kind of should have died in season two
[00:49:55 - 00:49:57] Like she kind of should have
[00:49:58 - 00:50:02] She was saved by a plot device. True. It's true. Um, I kind of agree here
[00:50:03 - 00:50:05] And this is definitely cause of jay flowney
[00:50:06 - 00:50:09] this being kind of his creation as a character
[00:50:10 - 00:50:12] And not knowing when to part ways
[00:50:13 - 00:50:14] from creator to
[00:50:14 - 00:50:17] created
[00:50:17 - 00:50:20] But like I said should definitely not have been a man now
[00:50:20 - 00:50:22] We shouldn't have a show
[00:50:22 - 00:50:24] She's a great character, but
[00:50:25 - 00:50:29] Like I think what made isoka so great is like
[00:50:32 - 00:50:36] She was this blip in anakin's arc and made anakin's arc significantly better
[00:50:37 - 00:50:41] I agree. I don't know if she has I don't know if her own story is worth telling
[00:50:41 - 00:50:45] Well, I think it is in the sense of like discovering the republic's corruption
[00:50:46 - 00:50:49] And like like that through isoka's lens is so interesting
[00:50:50 - 00:50:53] And watching that kind of explode in her face and all that
[00:50:53 - 00:50:57] I mean like the moment with maul where they have like the monologues back and forth is sick
[00:50:58 - 00:50:59] Yeah, you're right. You're right
[00:50:59 - 00:51:02] But like I don't even know if she should die
[00:51:02 - 00:51:06] Maybe she should but even just sail away and like
[00:51:06 - 00:51:12] On another planet somewhere and just exist. I think it's a fine ending for isoka and makes sense for her character
[00:51:13 - 00:51:16] Jury's out on how her character should should end or should have ended
[00:51:17 - 00:51:20] But I think where her character is now impact wise is worse than
[00:51:21 - 00:51:24] Where it would have been or at least it would have been viewed as
[00:51:25 - 00:51:28] If she had died during rebels like killed by anakin
[00:51:29 - 00:51:33] In season two that was that was the end of season two. Yeah, so
[00:51:34 - 00:51:36] We still could have gotten isoka adventures set in between
[00:51:37 - 00:51:41] Uh, close to rebels. Yeah, we could have gotten stuff so
[00:51:42 - 00:51:45] I don't know. I agree with the steak. Actually. I think this is a good take
[00:51:45 - 00:51:46] Yeah, I do too
[00:51:46 - 00:51:50] How hot is this take drew? I think it's gonna be pretty hot. I'm gonna say enough for s'mores
[00:51:51 - 00:51:52] Okay
[00:51:52 - 00:51:56] Feel like I've given 80 of the takes enough for s'mores, but that's okay
[00:51:56 - 00:51:58] That's fine though. All right
[00:51:59 - 00:52:01] You're up, correct
[00:52:01 - 00:52:02] I am all right. This is from
[00:52:03 - 00:52:06] Michael C. A booze eight six eight five
[00:52:07 - 00:52:10] Hot take the fans are the problem
[00:52:11 - 00:52:12] This is interesting
[00:52:12 - 00:52:17] Visionary directors who were inspired to become filmmakers because of star wars are too terrified to take on the project
[00:52:18 - 00:52:21] Because of the fans now the franchise is circling the drain of what came before
[00:52:22 - 00:52:24] prioritizing safety over storytelling
[00:52:25 - 00:52:30] This is interesting. That's not even crazy either. I mean, yeah star wars fans are low key
[00:52:30 - 00:52:34] The worst critics of star wars. I think I still disagree here
[00:52:35 - 00:52:37] Well, I mean I agree with that like I think
[00:52:38 - 00:52:40] Fans well
[00:52:40 - 00:52:42] I don't even know if I agree actually
[00:52:43 - 00:52:44] I have a take
[00:52:44 - 00:52:45] Okay
[00:52:45 - 00:52:52] I think star wars one of its best strengths is how dedicated its fans are true like a good star wars movie
[00:52:52 - 00:52:55] Can be thrust to the forefront of pop culture
[00:52:55 - 00:53:00] And have the most loyal fans of all time even a mid star wars movie can have that yep
[00:53:01 - 00:53:04] At least a well made mid star wars movie
[00:53:04 - 00:53:07] I think solo will have more fans long term than people think
[00:53:09 - 00:53:10] but
[00:53:10 - 00:53:11] Yes
[00:53:11 - 00:53:13] The fan base is so critical
[00:53:14 - 00:53:18] And I say that as like we didn't like mando and grogu and we critiqued it
[00:53:19 - 00:53:21] To where like if this was another franchise
[00:53:22 - 00:53:28] I don't hear star trek fans griping all that much about bad star trek movies. They're like, yeah, it exists. It's whatever
[00:53:29 - 00:53:33] Star Wars is different. I don't know why I can't yeah quantify it
[00:53:33 - 00:53:36] I do think your take of the visionary directors are afraid
[00:53:36 - 00:53:38] I kind of disagree with
[00:53:38 - 00:53:40] um
[00:53:40 - 00:53:42] In the sense of like
[00:53:43 - 00:53:47] I mean would you classify jon favero as a visionary director? I kind of would low-key
[00:53:47 - 00:53:52] Whether you like his vision or not is a different story, but like visionary director is different than auteur
[00:53:53 - 00:53:57] Different thing right, but I mean you look at bill lord and chris miller who were originally on solo
[00:53:58 - 00:54:00] They were removed because of disney
[00:54:00 - 00:54:02] and then
[00:54:02 - 00:54:06] JJ abram was also removed because of disney in the beginning and then they brought him back
[00:54:06 - 00:54:12] So it's like I think the studio interference here is really what a shot star was in the foot of like
[00:54:13 - 00:54:19] Not a clear vision and not willing to take creative risks unless your name is ryan johnson for some weird reason
[00:54:19 - 00:54:23] But they didn't even give him his trilogy. Yeah, but then they didn't they don't have a chance
[00:54:23 - 00:54:25] They kicked him out when last jedi was
[00:54:26 - 00:54:28] like
[00:54:28 - 00:54:30] Mixed and there were views I stood
[00:54:31 - 00:54:36] So I think disney's lack of bravery is really why directors haven't stuck around. Yeah, or
[00:54:36 - 00:54:38] I think it is stuff. I think it's disney brian
[00:54:38 - 00:54:43] Like the fact that it's just kind of been jon favero and dav filoni now like that's kind of it
[00:54:44 - 00:54:47] Who's working on star wars? I'm not saying this bad to have like
[00:54:48 - 00:54:54] Cohesion, but they aren't the ones cooking in hollywood right now either. So I guess now we have shon levy, which is like
[00:54:55 - 00:55:01] The question that just feels like another font of jon favero to me. So yeah, I like chef and I like elf, but
[00:55:02 - 00:55:06] I think iron man one and two were solid. Yes. Yes. Everyone is a great movie
[00:55:08 - 00:55:14] But yeah, I disagree. I think disney's the problem, but overall I agree with his take. Yeah, I think I'm in the same boat
[00:55:15 - 00:55:16] Um
[00:55:16 - 00:55:21] How hot do you think it is? I think people have been saying I'm gonna say some smoke. Yeah, that's fine. I agree
[00:55:22 - 00:55:24] All right, let's keep this thing rolling. Let's do a few more
[00:55:25 - 00:55:28] Okay, part five will happen one day. Yes, we still have more guys, which is
[00:55:29 - 00:55:32] It's crazy that we still have more to talk about so thank y'all for
[00:55:33 - 00:55:37] Dialoging, but I mean we will probably do this series forever at this rate. Yeah, honestly
[00:55:37 - 00:55:45] Um, this is from paperback production hot take cool name. Yeah, it's cool name. Um, star wars would be a perfect
[00:55:46 - 00:55:48] In all caps perfect franchise
[00:55:48 - 00:55:54] If the only in all caps only canon material is andor rogue one and the original trilogy
[00:55:54 - 00:55:58] Andor builds the universe out informs us of the rebellion and what's going on
[00:55:58 - 00:56:04] Then it leads into rogue one where we focus solely on the rebellion and what the empire is as a threat aka the deser
[00:56:06 - 00:56:07] Sorry
[00:56:07 - 00:56:09] And it leads directly into the original trilogy
[00:56:09 - 00:56:12] It would be perfect. That's not that crazy
[00:56:13 - 00:56:15] It's not that crazy now
[00:56:15 - 00:56:18] We wouldn't have as many highs in star wars true
[00:56:19 - 00:56:21] but like
[00:56:21 - 00:56:24] Ignorance is blessing the situation. We don't know those exist
[00:56:25 - 00:56:28] So if this is only if this is the only material we have
[00:56:29 - 00:56:33] I have a couple of hangups one and I think I might be in the minority of this
[00:56:33 - 00:56:37] I don't think the transition from and or season two to rogue one is super great
[00:56:37 - 00:56:39] Dress from like castians arc
[00:56:40 - 00:56:40] like
[00:56:40 - 00:56:44] My biggest problem is that kathian struggles to trust anyone on the whole show
[00:56:44 - 00:56:48] And then up in trust jen an hour into the show when it took
[00:56:50 - 00:56:53] 23 hours to trust luthan of material
[00:56:54 - 00:56:59] I mean even kind of like he didn't really trust luthan, but that's kind of nitpicky, I guess. Yeah
[00:57:00 - 00:57:02] and
[00:57:03 - 00:57:07] Would we call the original trilogy perfect like as as as a narrative?
[00:57:08 - 00:57:14] I think I'm not I don't hate this. I don't hate it either. I would say my critique is that
[00:57:15 - 00:57:22] Andor and rogue one don't get enough into the jedi which are a core part an integral part of star wars, but only because of
[00:57:23 - 00:57:25] What we know
[00:57:25 - 00:57:27] Like pretend you don't right. You're right. No, you're right
[00:57:28 - 00:57:29] like pretend
[00:57:29 - 00:57:31] Yeah, just forget about everything except for
[00:57:32 - 00:57:37] These four or five things. No, you're right. I think I would actually like the transition from
[00:57:37 - 00:57:42] Rogue one and or rogue one into like luke is the saving grace and luke is the jedi
[00:57:42 - 00:57:44] Yeah, I mean that could be sick
[00:57:44 - 00:57:49] Like that would emphasize luke's return so much more because you would have watched all this content without luke
[00:57:49 - 00:57:55] That's not I do think chronologically bringing in the jedi after the grittiness of and or and rogue one
[00:57:55 - 00:58:00] It would be a vibe switch up for sure. You would be like those tones are different from new hope to rogue one
[00:58:01 - 00:58:02] um
[00:58:02 - 00:58:05] But I guess Darth Vader comes in at rogue one. So you like you introduce the lightsabers and like
[00:58:06 - 00:58:08] The fact that there are these greater things. Yeah
[00:58:10 - 00:58:14] I don't know super interesting. I kind of agree. I don't know if I'd call it perfect, but like
[00:58:15 - 00:58:17] This is I think
[00:58:17 - 00:58:19] like raw storytelling
[00:58:19 - 00:58:21] this and or
[00:58:21 - 00:58:23] To return to the jedi is the best
[00:58:24 - 00:58:29] That we have you're probably right. This isn't crazy. How hot does this take drew? Um
[00:58:30 - 00:58:35] I'm gonna say enough for smores. All right shocker. Let's just hot schmoes
[00:58:37 - 00:58:39] Okay, I'm gonna go with you're up
[00:58:41 - 00:58:43] Oh, whoa, I'm into the ones we've already done now
[00:58:45 - 00:58:47] Holy moly we have done a lot of these
[00:58:47 - 00:58:49] and mowing through them
[00:58:49 - 00:58:53] All right, this is a long one. All right. I'm buckled in this is from
[00:58:53 - 00:58:56] limber lad limber lad my goat. Okay
[00:58:58 - 00:59:00] Yeah, this is long
[00:59:00 - 00:59:06] Okay, the star wars games kept the franchise alive and relevant during all the movie dry spells prior to the disney purchase
[00:59:07 - 00:59:10] Okay, so I wasn't really around here. So this will be interesting
[00:59:11 - 00:59:17] Uh, I'll even take it a step further and say the star wars works better as a video game franchise and a film franchise
[00:59:17 - 00:59:21] Oh, that's kind of not crazy. Really? I think that's kind of crazy. Well, I have an argument here
[00:59:22 - 00:59:27] I grew up in the 90s. All I had to go on were the old vhs until the special edition re-release
[00:59:28 - 00:59:33] And then tie fighter on pc came out in 94 and it was incredible and it holds up in its own way today
[00:59:34 - 00:59:36] X wings came out of your prior and was okay too
[00:59:37 - 00:59:44] And 95 dark forces came out introducing kyle cantar and give and gave fans the original death star schematic heist
[00:59:45 - 00:59:46] and
[00:59:46 - 00:59:49] Was launching the the and the launching point
[00:59:50 - 00:59:54] Hold on and was the launching point of a great game franchise that expanded the universe in a fun way
[00:59:55 - 01:00:00] Okay, 96 gave it shadows of the empire an entire multimedia based entry into the star wars canon
[01:00:01 - 01:00:04] We got star wars rogue squadron 98 which helped out flesh
[01:00:05 - 01:00:09] Which helped out flesh out that is how it's written
[01:00:10 - 01:00:13] Uh, some minor characters in the franchise and showed fans planets
[01:00:13 - 01:00:18] We had only heard of in the movies then starting in 99 the episode one and the prequel started coming out
[01:00:18 - 01:00:20] I was around 10 at the time and remember liking this stuff
[01:00:22 - 01:00:24] A 10 year old will like Darth Maul
[01:00:25 - 01:00:32] But even then I could recognize it as a bad movie episode two only made it worse. However during the time throughout the
[01:00:33 - 01:00:37] How do you say that throughout the 2000s the o's
[01:00:37 - 01:00:43] There was banger after banger as far as games go from jedi night series to rogue squadron sequels
[01:00:43 - 01:00:46] galaxy battlefront 2 by the way the og battlefront 2 game
[01:00:47 - 01:00:49] I've probably put like
[01:00:49 - 01:00:52] 200 hours in it's so good
[01:00:52 - 01:00:54] um
[01:00:54 - 01:00:57] Battlefront 2 night to the older public great game and beyond granted
[01:00:57 - 01:01:00] I know the clone was huge and it's really well regarded
[01:01:00 - 01:01:03] But I didn't have access to it at the time as I didn't have cable
[01:01:04 - 01:01:09] Games were far more accessible to me even the modern era star wars squadron has a way better story than any
[01:01:09 - 01:01:12] Then it has any right to and the ea games jedi games
[01:01:13 - 01:01:15] Have some of the best jedi based narratives in all star wars
[01:01:16 - 01:01:22] Hmm. I don't hate this. I don't hate this either. Um, I've got to take you out your word because
[01:01:23 - 01:01:29] Yeah, I wasn't alive playing any of the 90 games really. Yeah, so I've heard great things about some of them, but
[01:01:29 - 01:01:33] It's all hearsay, but I will take you at your word battlefront 2
[01:01:34 - 01:01:38] My dad had and I like as a kid I played on his computer all the time
[01:01:39 - 01:01:44] The games I mean like even recent games have been pretty well regarded overall not every single one
[01:01:44 - 01:01:51] I haven't heard good things about outlaws, but like oh, yeah, I forgot that game exists overall the games have been pretty well regarded
[01:01:51 - 01:01:54] Yeah, so I don't think it's crazy. Here's my take on
[01:01:55 - 01:01:57] movies versus games. Okay
[01:01:58 - 01:02:00] um, this isn't the best comparison also because
[01:02:01 - 01:02:04] I've only read played and watched some of this series, but
[01:02:05 - 01:02:11] Culturally the witcher series guy the games are highly regarded. Yeah, especially you witcher 3 wild hunt
[01:02:11 - 01:02:15] Works great great world to play the game in I've played some of the game. It's great
[01:02:15 - 01:02:20] Um, the books are well regarded as well. I would say star wars would maybe work better as a novelization
[01:02:21 - 01:02:23] If we're like really going there
[01:02:24 - 01:02:26] And not no, I don't know. I don't know if I fully agree with that, but
[01:02:27 - 01:02:29] I don't know if I agree with that. I'm torn on that jury's out
[01:02:30 - 01:02:32] But then the witcher show didn't work
[01:02:32 - 01:02:35] And like maybe it could have worked. I think it might have worked, but
[01:02:36 - 01:02:39] Like the witcher's probably best is a video game book vibe
[01:02:40 - 01:02:42] Star Wars might fit that same
[01:02:42 - 01:02:43] thing
[01:02:43 - 01:02:45] Like I don't even know that's crazy
[01:02:45 - 01:02:47] I agree
[01:02:47 - 01:02:49] with
[01:02:49 - 01:02:51] limberlade here in the sense of
[01:02:52 - 01:02:55] I would argue that the games have been much more consistent
[01:02:56 - 01:02:58] Yeah, even kind of like
[01:02:58 - 01:03:00] Like battlefront one the new one
[01:03:01 - 01:03:04] People kind of clowned on and even the story of battlefront 2 is like only fine
[01:03:05 - 01:03:06] of the new one
[01:03:06 - 01:03:07] um
[01:03:07 - 01:03:10] The story of battlefront 2 the og like the 501st
[01:03:11 - 01:03:13] Really arc so dang good
[01:03:13 - 01:03:19] Um, but even though it's have been like fine and that's kind of like the lowest it gets I feel like other than like
[01:03:19 - 01:03:21] What's the new one outlaw?
[01:03:21 - 01:03:23] That one could be bad. I don't know
[01:03:24 - 01:03:25] But then there are some like
[01:03:25 - 01:03:28] A bit of most star wars movies as we talked about
[01:03:29 - 01:03:33] We're just really inconsistent star wars movies. I kind of agree. It's like
[01:03:34 - 01:03:37] You know a video game can have a mid to bad story
[01:03:37 - 01:03:40] Yeah, it'll be worth your time because the gameplay. Yeah, because it's fun
[01:03:41 - 01:03:46] A mid to bad star wars movie with decent visuals is not worth your time in my opinion. I agree
[01:03:47 - 01:03:52] Like I feel that way about mando and grugu grow goo now had mando and grugu been a game with fun gameplay
[01:03:52 - 01:03:55] I probably would be like out the story's fine. Yeah, that would have been fun
[01:03:56 - 01:03:59] Actually, I actually like where you're sitting number lad
[01:04:00 - 01:04:03] I think I agree. I didn't think I was gonna agree. I'll agree as well
[01:04:04 - 01:04:08] Drew, how do we feel on the hotness scale here? I'm going to say it's gotta be kind of hot
[01:04:09 - 01:04:13] I'm between enough first moors are raging fire. I'm putting down enough first moors because
[01:04:14 - 01:04:18] That's what you were probably gonna say. That is what I was gonna say knowing your patterns. Um
[01:04:19 - 01:04:21] All right, do you want to do one more?
[01:04:21 - 01:04:22] Let's do one more
[01:04:22 - 01:04:27] Okay, this is kind of a recent topic. Okay, this is from sassy games. No relation
[01:04:28 - 01:04:30] No, no interesting name
[01:04:30 - 01:04:32] interesting name, um
[01:04:32 - 01:04:34] Hot take maul
[01:04:34 - 01:04:39] Talking about shadow lord great show should have been a movie. Hmm. Didn't we already do this one?
[01:04:40 - 01:04:41] I don't think so
[01:04:41 - 01:04:43] I feel like we've talked about this on this series but continue
[01:04:43 - 01:04:46] We might have talked about the same topic but maul should have been a a movie
[01:04:47 - 01:04:50] They were trying to do a slow burn story with short episodes that just doesn't
[01:04:50 - 01:04:54] Work as well as they wanted it to is clear in my opinion that Dave
[01:04:55 - 01:05:00] Filoni saw the andor was a hit and worked as a slow burn and tried to mimic that. Okay. Okay
[01:05:01 - 01:05:07] Maul would have been a decent show if it wasn't for the really bad pacing. I thought you lost me. Maul was a great show
[01:05:07 - 01:05:12] I don't care if you're like, oh it mimics and or it's still really really really good
[01:05:12 - 01:05:19] And it might be a slow like it's not even a slow burn. Honestly, it's it's faster than and or it's great
[01:05:19 - 01:05:21] Maul is a great show
[01:05:21 - 01:05:26] The animation is almost worth the price of admission and like yes, it's that good. It is that good
[01:05:26 - 01:05:29] I mean some of the lightsaber fights are like so
[01:05:29 - 01:05:32] But the story is really good. The story is also great. Sam Whitworth cooks
[01:05:34 - 01:05:36] I don't think this would have been better as a movie. We did talk about this before
[01:05:36 - 01:05:39] I don't I don't think this would have been better as a movie. I don't
[01:05:41 - 01:05:43] Yeah, I don't really think it would be either I think
[01:05:44 - 01:05:46] I think the the
[01:05:47 - 01:05:49] I don't know if I like shows better
[01:05:49 - 01:05:54] I think it just depends it really does when you're really trying to get into a character specifically
[01:05:55 - 01:05:58] Shows are just so good at that because you have more time. Yeah
[01:05:58 - 01:06:02] like so when you're trying to get into the head of maul and really get into like
[01:06:03 - 01:06:05] Him expanding his crime empire
[01:06:05 - 01:06:10] This is the way to do it. Yeah for sure. Yep. Um, I mean, maybe you could argue it would give me a maul trilogy
[01:06:10 - 01:06:12] which is like fine
[01:06:12 - 01:06:14] but
[01:06:14 - 01:06:15] like
[01:06:15 - 01:06:17] Maul really came alive in animation
[01:06:18 - 01:06:22] So I think having a another show that is also animated and looks incredible
[01:06:23 - 01:06:27] Is a great way to pay homage to the clone wars, but also just to give us a really dang good story
[01:06:28 - 01:06:29] I think maul
[01:06:29 - 01:06:32] In live action again could work as another villain
[01:06:32 - 01:06:38] Like as a a crime boss villain again in a movie. I think he could work. Okay. I don't think he would
[01:06:39 - 01:06:42] I just don't know if he would translate back to live action super well
[01:06:42 - 01:06:47] So I I'm gonna disagree. I'm sure we will get a maul live action villain at some point
[01:06:48 - 01:06:50] That just maybe I don't know
[01:06:50 - 01:06:52] I mean, I guess they tried with solo
[01:06:53 - 01:06:58] They tried to set it up and I'm sure he would have been in the solo trilogy that was going to happen at one point, but
[01:06:59 - 01:07:01] didn't happen so
[01:07:01 - 01:07:06] This is a good take though. Yeah, it's interesting. How do you feel on the hotness skill for this one drew?
[01:07:07 - 01:07:10] I died. I gotta get more creative, but my gut is enough for smores here
[01:07:11 - 01:07:13] Should I just pick yeah, you pick something else
[01:07:14 - 01:07:16] But tell me enough for smores doesn't work
[01:07:16 - 01:07:22] It's you know what? I'm going enough for smores. I know I think we only had one raging fire today. No, no, we had two we had two
[01:07:24 - 01:07:26] All right, okay
[01:07:27 - 01:07:31] Well, let's close this thing out. Yeah part five is happening part five is happening
[01:07:31 - 01:07:34] We still have more if you have star wars. I takes please feel free to comment
