The Embodied & Wealthy Podcast

What's Working Now May Keep You Small (Part 3: Summer Series on Becoming)

Episode Summary:
In this third part of my summer series, I dive into one of the sneakiest reasons your subconscious mind keeps you from that next level self - the hidden benefits of your current limitations. Through real examples and my exact client process, I reveal why your 95% subconscious brain might be protecting "good things" about staying small, and how to negotiate with it so you can keep those benefits AND grow.

What You'll Learn:
  • Why most people "swim back to the old shore" when they hit the liminal space of transformation
  • The difference between conscious desires (5%) and subconscious protection programs (95%)
  • My exact process for uncovering what your subconscious thinks it's protecting
  • How benefits like "feeling connected to friends" can actually keep you stuck at lower income levels
  • The negotiation method I use: "I'm on the same team with you, mind"
  • Why this creates YOUR personalized affirmation (not generic ones)
  • How to write integration statements that honor both your growth AND your subconscious needs
  • The "inside, outside, same same" concept of purpose meeting prosperity
Key Quotes:
"Your subconscious mind has 95% of the processing power of your brain. Let that sink in."
"What are those benefits? The benefits are the benefits of the old situation."
"If you get an answer like 'nothing, it's not good, I want to grow' - I already know that you are not going deep enough."
"We really need to get deeper into that 95%. And when I say deeper, this means that it becomes unlogical, that it maybe becomes more emotional, that it maybe becomes more like images or memories."
"I'm on the same team with you, mind. I also want to keep that. And you know what? We can keep that."
"This is different than just any affirmation. This is YOUR affirmation."
"What else are we here to do? I think that's what we all want. We want the prosperity, we want the ease, and we want the purpose."

The Lake Metaphor Explained:
I share the beautiful story an artist told me at theatre school when I was 19: When you're crossing the lake of transformation, you reach that middle point - the liminal space - where you can't see where you came from, but you also can't see where you're going yet. This is where real change happens, but most people get afraid of the "not knowing" and swim back to familiar territory.

The Benefits Process Breakdown:
Here's my exact method for negotiating with your subconscious mind:
Step 1: Get relaxed, close your eyes, take deep breaths
Step 2: Ask: "Dear subconscious mind, what is good about [current limitation]?"
Step 3: Keep asking until you get emotional, unlogical responses (not logical thinking-mind answers)
Step 4: Honor every benefit your subconscious reveals
Step 5: Create your integration: "I choose now to have [goal] AND at the same time have all these good things"

Your Hidden Benefits Toolkit

The Money Example I Use: Want to make 200K but stuck at 50K → Subconscious reveals: "Making similar money to friends keeps us connected" → "People feel comfortable around me" → "I feel happy spending time with others" → "It keeps me motivated"

Warning Signs You're Not Going Deep Enough:
  • Getting answers like "nothing is good about this"
  • Staying in logical, linear thinking
  • Missing the emotional, memory-based, or image responses
  • Not uncovering what your mind thinks it's protecting
Integration Statement Format:
"I choose that I already know who I am and how to live my life every day, knowing that I can make 200,000 euros a year in four days AND at the same time be surrounded by great people and feel connected to them and feel happy and have a sense of belonging."

This Week's Homework:
Try the benefits process with one area where you feel stuck. Ask your subconscious: "What's been good about this limitation?" Write down everything that comes up, even if it doesn't make logical sense. Remember: you're negotiating with the 95% of your brain that's actually driving your results.

**Rest to Receive Meditation**

Close your eyes. Let your body settle. Let the day fall off your shoulders.

Take a slow, gentle breath in... and a long, easy breath out.

This is your time to soften. To trust. To let it all come to you.

**@Chesca Lukban start the music here, just before the first word of the new sentence**

"As I rest, I receive. I don’t have to do anything. Just allow."

It’s safe to slow down.

It’s safe to stop trying for a moment.

It’s safe to trust that what’s meant for me is already in motion.

It’s safe to let go now.

I release the pressure.

I release the noise.

I release the timelines that aren't mine.

I release the idea that I have to figure it all out tonight.

I let my nervous system rest.

I let my thoughts float like clouds.

I let my body be held.

I don’t need to fix anything in this moment.

I don’t need to push.

I don’t need to prove.

I can let go and still receive.

Abundance flows in even while I sleep.

Opportunities line up even as I rest.

Support is finding its way to me.

I don’t have to grip to be worthy.

Everything that is meant for me is making its way to me now.

Without force.

Without fear.

Without rushing.

I open to softness.

I open to support.

I open to ease.

I open to being deeply met by life.

My body is wise.

My rest is productive.

My stillness is sacred.

I am not behind.

I am not lost.

I am right here, right now, and that is more than enough.

I allow the world to keep turning without me tonight.

I allow my heart to receive what my hands are not holding.

I allow my soul to expand without effort.

As I sleep, my life aligns.

As I rest, I receive.

As I soften, I open.

And as I dream, I become more available to everything I've been asking for.

*I am resting. I am receiving. I am safe.*
