Hot phrase right now is Quiet Quitting. Basically, it’s when an employee does what’s required, but not one inch more. Some say it’s about setting boundaries to create work/life balance while others claim it’s slippery slope of professional coasting.
Great article in today’s Wall Street Journal covering the pushback against quiet quitting. One HR professional says it’s not about the quitters, it’s about everybody else and the resulting unfair balance the culture creates. No doubt, someone else is picking up the slack. Is this a result of the reassessing goals in light of the pandemic—or something made easier because of the glut of jobs?
Things are good now, but conditions change. And when they do, don’t get caught phoning in your work—because in my experience, people notice.
