Chapter Three,
Market, No Market is Immune to AI

Right now, people talk about being an Ai company. There was a time after the iPhone App Store launched when people talked about being a mobile company, but no software company says they're a mobile company now, because it'd be unthinkable not to have a mobile app, and it'll be unthinkable not to have intelligence integrated into every product and service, it'll just be an expected, obvious thing. Sam Altman, co founder and CEO open AI.

AI can positively affect any market because it's relatively easy to make something better, less expensive, created and delivered faster, simplified with fewer moving parts and with less unwanted human engagement, anyone who thinks through that lens is going to win.

To help you understand how to use this lens, I will give you a couple of real examples of how we've been using AI through a market lens, 5x sales with 20 minutes of work. Let me introduce you to Matt Debar, a fourth generation masonry contractor and CEO of the contractor consultants. Matt has a unique challenge. He sells to building contractors. I share the example because you're probably thinking, How will contractors use and benefit from Ai? Matt has an amazing system for hiring all the skilled and unskilled workers a contractor needs. He built it first in his own business, and now he teaches other contractors how to do it.

And if you know any business owners in construction, you know they're always struggling to find hire, train and keep people. It's just terribly difficult right now, normally having an HR person inside one of these companies who could run a system like Matt's would cost around $120,000 to $150,000 a year. Or you could hire an outside head hunter, and they'll want a percentage of the salary of anyone they bring to you. Either way, it's usually way above what most contractors can afford. Matt's got a great system, but his sales team struggled to enroll clients at a high enough rate.

So I asked Matt, do you record your sales calls? He did. I decided I was going to use some of the new AI tools I had been developing to analyze the sales conversations and see if I could create some new opportunities. So here's what I did. I transcribed several sales calls and I embedded a prompt I developed into a tool called Claude AI. I also gave it my book, punch the elephant, how to sell anything to anyone and overcome any objection, even if you're bad at sales, which describes my super effective sales process. I asked the AI to analyze the call logs and provide a detailed sales analysis, first, comparing the calls to commonly known best practices for sales, which the AI already knows because it's read the Internet. Then I asked it to do another analysis based on my punch the elephant process Claude AI prompt review the following attached call logs and analyze them for sentiment analysis and determine how to make each of these sales conversations more effective based upon phone and zoom based sales best practices.

Then analyze all of the sales conversations through the workflow and process described in the attached punch the elephant book manuscript. Then create a full report and analysis that can be shared with Matt Deborah from Mike Koenigs in his voice as the author of the punch the elephant book, in the form of a step by step SOP that can be followed by a sales team list key issues with their sales process, highlights, recommendations, ideas for improvement, to improve and increase sales.

Next in the form of a personal email that is engaging, persuasive, visceral and fun to read highlight all of the key things that should be done for each call. What happened next was nothing short of remarkable. The recommendations were spot on. When Matt and his team employed my recommendations, their sales went from very low to very high, an improvement of about 80% in less than a week.

Now if I had done this manually, it would have taken at least a day of my time to analyze and provide the reports, even then, I still would have had to double check my work or have someone else review it for me. Instead of 20 minutes, it would have easily taken two days of time, and it would have been very expensive time. And honestly, it's the kind of work that would have hurt my brain to do. In fact. So expensive that Matt couldn't afford to pay me to do this for him.

This is important, so let me summarize. I took pre existing call recordings, created a prompt that utilized business best practices for sales and information that I created in my own book, and asked for a report. It gave me fantastic results in 20 minutes, and now I have a repeatable system. In fact, I could turn this into a SaaS software solution and sell access to it to other sales teams. And if you're wondering why I don't do this, it's because I'm currently focused on other more profitable business ideas. I'm guessing that I have your attention, if you're a business owner or founder, imagine taking your own internal best practices for sales or anything and teaching the AI how to analyze your team's performance, then writing a report to coach them to improve.

This is a very simple and basic example, but it's important, because the businesses that embrace the AI mindset will be better, faster and more adaptable than their competitors right now, using very little information and an AI tool, you can easily identify, communicate and learn about a market and then market to them very successfully with very little work deep analysis of your market. Don't find customers for your product. Find Products for your customers. Seth Godin, with AI, you can learn more about a market in five or 10 minutes and either invent a product from scratch or improve something you already have, all based on real customer data you collect, or data that chat GPT already knows.

With AI, you can know your customers better than every other business in your market. In chapter one, I showed you how I took 870 records of complex customer survey data, and using AI, pulled out all of the best, most valuable opportunities before chatgpt, that same work would have been a giant pain in the ass. It would have taken at least a day, maybe more. You would have to take all of the free form answers from the customers and build a way to categorize them, then filter by the value of both the idea and the prospect. It would have been a nightmare, and I wouldn't have been anywhere near as effective in finding the patterns, but I did it in 10 minutes thanks to AI. Not only that, but the AI wrote an email for me that I could send to each of the top 10 founders explaining how I could solve their number one, biggest, hairiest problem in 10 minutes. If you're capturing survey data from your leads and customers, you now have a full time data analyst working for you for $20 per month, and if you don't collect that data, now, you can still learn more about your market than most competitors just by asking the AI chat GPT has read most of the internet. It is constantly being updated with the latest new content, so it knows what your ideal prospects are thinking and feeling when it comes to what you sell. You just have to know how to ask it. Now let's take Matt's market contractors.

The construction industry often faces difficulties in finding skilled labor which can delay projects and increase costs. Two, rising material costs, fluctuations in the cost of materials can impact budgeting and profitability.

Three, regulatory compliance and safety standards, navigating the complex landscape of local, state and federal regulations poses a significant challenge. Four, project management and efficiency, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget requires sophisticated management tools and practices. Five technology adoption, integrating new technologies into traditional construction processes can be difficult, but is necessary to. Stay competitive. Six, sustainability and green building practices adapting to the growing demand for sustainable construction methods requires new skills and knowledge. Seven, supply chain disruptions.
