Scott Schutte:

As you listen to this passage, reflect on the power of forgiveness and how choosing to forgive can transform your heart and relationships. If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your father will not forgive your sins. Matthew six fourteen and fifteen. How does the act of forgiveness free you to experience God's love and peace?

Scott Schutte:

Forgiveness is at the heart of the gospel. Jesus taught that forgiveness is not just an option, it's a command. In Matthew six, he tells us that if we forgive those who sin against us, God will forgive us in the same way. But if we withhold forgiveness, it keeps us from experiencing the full forgiveness God offers us. Imagine yourself standing at the foot of a large stone.

Scott Schutte:

On this stone lies the weight of your unforgiveness. Memories of pain, of hurt, and broken trust. It feels like a burden you've been carrying for too long. You look up and see Jesus standing before you with arms open wide, offering you a path of peace. Jesus gently invites you to place your burdens on the stone, knowing that he can carry them for you.

Scott Schutte:

As you do, you feel the weight lifting. The stone that once felt immovable now seems light. And in its place, you feel peace begin to fill your heart. Jesus stands with you, showing you the beauty of forgiveness. How it frees not only the one who is forgiven, but also the one who forgives.

Scott Schutte:

As you look around, you see others who have also laid their burdens down. You feel a deep connection with them, knowing that through forgiveness, all of you are free to experience God's love in new ways. Whatever the case may be, forgiveness doesn't mean excusing the hurt or forgetting the wrong. It means choosing to release the bitterness and anger that can keep you in bondage. Right now, close your eyes and think of that person.

Scott Schutte:

What emotions come up for you? Take a deep breath and offer those feelings to God. Ask him to help you release any resentment or forgiveness. Forgiveness isn't easy, but it's essential for your spiritual health and peace. Just as God has forgiven you for every wrong you've ever committed, he invites you to forgive those who have wronged you.

Scott Schutte:

When you forgive, you free your heart to receive God's love and to share the love with others. It might take time and it might take a series of moments to fully forgive. But every time you choose to forgive, you reflect the grace and mercy that God has shown you. As you go about this week, may you walk in the freedom of forgiveness, allowing God's grace to flow through you. Let go of the things that hold you back and embrace the peace that comes from choosing to forgive.

Scott Schutte:

May your heart be filled with his love and mercy. And may you share that same forgiveness with everyone you encounter.
