Speaker 1:

Hello. Good morning, everyone. So today, I've done a published 521 podcast episodes of one day at a time, 309,000 downloads. Now I was thinking about this. It doesn't really matter if some days say similar things or not because the utility of this podcast is do you use it today to improve today?

Speaker 1:

That's it. That's why it's called one day at a time. I don't care really if well, I do care because I want you to take stuff from it, but it's not really about like, oh, well, if I listen to it, I'll apply that tomorrow. It's about taking accountability today. Alright?

Speaker 1:

I don't feel motivated to do this all the time. I don't feel motivated to go and read recent studies and make sure I can gather right breakdowns for you guys and, you know, read all the books I do and, you know, see if I can pass on some advice and live life myself and pass on stuff that's happened to me. But sometimes, it's a reminder to myself as well. We've got from now until midnight, we go to sleep or whatever. That's it.

Speaker 1:

That's what our life has been out of. And what are we gonna do with this time we call it, whatever you wanna call it. What are we gonna do with it today? That's really what what what it's all about. And a lot of people really could overcomplicate it.

Speaker 1:

I think if you can get through today, you can get through tomorrow, and you can do it that way. But we're thinking big picture, like, we're thinking, well, I gotta do this six months ago, twelve months. What are we gonna do next week? What are we gonna do next month? You know, all this type of planning, planning, planning, planning, thinking what happened in the past, worrying what's happening in the future.

Speaker 1:

Seneca once said, you suffer from one imagination and reality. Very true, Seneca. Very true. And I just want you all to I don't know if you've listened to this, how many times you've listened to this, first time, second time, your third time, or your hundredth time, or five hundred and twenty first time. Are you seriously taking this one day at a time?

Speaker 1:

I'm genuinely curious because I've had a few people come up to me going, I didn't get it for a while. So I didn't get this one day at a time mentality for, like, two years. I didn't get it. Well, so you what you so you mean you don't plan? You mean?

Speaker 1:

You don't. What do you mean by it? It's not no. It's not you don't plan. It's like even though what you've you do with the plan, I know you're whatever, but, yeah, a plan is doesn't get executed unless you're working out a day to day to day.

Speaker 1:

Now plans can change. The effort day to day can remain. You try your best every day. Today will be an 80% day. Tomorrow will be 90%.

Speaker 1:

Another day will be 70%. And I have to trust in myself that the effort that I'm putting in day to day, if it is as as much as I can do, whatever the outcome is, is the outcome. Alright. Okay. Let's put it into a sports perspective.

Speaker 1:

I will train every day to be the best rugby player, and it comes to the end of the season when they're picking a team for next season or going to a pro academy or whatever, and they then pick me. What do you do then? Well, if you woke up day to day and just took it from morning to evening and you ate well, you trained the best you can, you managed other life's priorities, and at the end of it, you still weren't good enough, well, you weren't good enough to have that team. But it's not about that end result, is it? Really isn't.

Speaker 1:

It's about the effort you put in day to day. You're gonna be the best at your job, business. That's over your control. Like, you need to completely let go of it. Do you think I know where I'm going with my life?

Speaker 1:

Ask me ask me what my five year plan is. Don't know. Don't have one. What are my one year plan is? I don't know.

Speaker 1:

I don't have a one year plan. So I have a six month plan. I kind of know where I'm going in terms of I do this work. I plan this challenge coming up. There's an immediate challenge with Turtle coming up.

Speaker 1:

You know, we've got this kind of metrics we wanna hit with Turtle, and we got the events we do. That's fine. But in between that, who knows what pops into your life? Who knows what people you meet? You know, where you're gonna go?

Speaker 1:

I don't know. So I don't put much effort into thinking where is it gonna lead? If I wake up in the morning and then I go to sleep and I've done my best to put the work in, that's all I can do, and I pray to God that it whatever you wanna do, don't believe in him, pray to whatever it is, Odin or Hercules or whatever, that it will work out. Because if it doesn't work out, well, I did what I can. I'll just deal with shit up and see if things don't work out.

Speaker 1:

Well, what what what does that mean for me? What if these businesses don't work out? What if turtle doesn't work out in the end? What if turtle is such a big project we've got to take on with other the holistic health, all in one place of wellness, all these events we're putting on, and that the turtle events and the turtle games and the forest stuff, don't even make a profit off because we're gonna put these events on for you guys at a reasonable price or for free most of the time. We just want you to have a trance to meet each other and enjoy and have a good like, that's I love it.

Speaker 1:

It's amazing for you to read the books we suggest, for you to chat to us on the radio, for us to put build this app for you guys. You know? We started with MyFitnessPal and Google Sheets, and then you're like, hey. We don't really like this. Can you make it one app?

Speaker 1:

I'm like, I don't know. Maybe one day we'll try. And then it came to us, like, why don't we try? We've made profits. Why don't we put into this?

Speaker 1:

Big risk, but why not? Let's give it a go. And that's what we do. But we don't know. That might be something the world isn't ready for to have such a comprehensive service of Wild West.

Speaker 1:

Maybe that's why Slimming World the Way Watchers would be around forever because they stick to without the guns and the one thing. You know? What if Rugby Warfare doesn't work? You know? These none of them are security based.

Speaker 1:

They've got no security. I don't have any security. Where can I end up? I don't know. Do I think much about it?

Speaker 1:

Not really. Do I think what is the worst case? I have thought about the worst case. What would happen? Well, I trust my skill set, trust who I am to navigate those waters if it ever comes to it.

Speaker 1:

Plus, I'm looking at things. Was it always this way? Potentially, always had the ability to do this not in not as not as clear, but I'm not gonna say it's something I've had to work really, really, really, really hard to get the mindset like that. But it's coming easy to me, which doesn't mean which I'm not saying is it like, oh, praise me. I'm just saying it was easy.

Speaker 1:

It was relatively easy to me when I picked up stoicism. I got it quite quick. And I understood the one day at a time stuff. I was like, yeah. I get it.

Speaker 1:

And I would speak to Dean Leek, and Dean's like, you know, you can only do your best, and that's it. Alright, Sam. You're gonna listen to Krishnamurti stuff. He's like, look. If I can't do this, I can't do it.

Speaker 1:

If I can't, if you give if if I'm in like, one of his extreme examples is if I'm if I'm in charge of, like, two kids and I need to feed them, and he's talking to this guy, he's asking about Africa and I've gone off food or water to feed them. I've gone off water food for freedom. So I gotta work from that. Where do I go from there? People lose their heads and go, well, I need to.

Speaker 1:

I'm like, will you do it? What do you mean you can't? No. No. No.

Speaker 1:

This is the and they just wind themselves up over and over thinking, well, if you can't do it, can't do it. You've got to the next step. That's an extreme example. It's not something that I would probably handle that calmly for sure. But I just feel like after I'm just thinking of all these podcasts.

Speaker 1:

I'm thinking about where the hell are we going with all this, and we don't know. That's amazing. Cool. And I don't know where you're going, but all I want to do is that you're listening to this every morning, drinking your coffee, having a smile, or whatever you do, eating a biscuit. I don't care how you do it.

Speaker 1:

Because only you can have people do something. Can I make your day today? Can I push you and have a better day today? And I say, I don't want you to think about, will this impact my day tomorrow? Don't care.

Speaker 1:

Does it impact your day today? Are they listening to it right now? You've gone over the you've got this is essentially a big prompt smashed in front of your face, and it's gonna say, you've got a choice now today. You've woken up maybe on the wrong side of the bed. You're low energy.

Speaker 1:

You're not feeling great. You've listened to this Welsh accent for nearly eight minutes talking about he doesn't know where he's going, but that's the point. You just do your best, and things will be exciting and it'll work out and you connect the dots somehow when you're looking backwards, but you're gonna be cool. It's gonna go there and there. Who knows?

Speaker 1:

It's an adventure. Season adventure, fun one, even though it's full of crap sometimes, it's a fun one to be on. One, I prefer to be on this one than many others. Let me put it put it that way. And you've a choice now to be like, well, maybe, yeah, maybe I will actually have a good day today instead.

Speaker 1:

I was thinking maybe I'll have a bad day today because I'm feeling a bit sad. Feel a bit look little bit sad today. Feel a bit down today. Maybe you're off me. Maybe you're down day.

Speaker 1:

But you know deep down you can flip it if you wanted to because you only have to do it for now or today. So can you wake up, get a bit of spring and your stuff, be your favorite song, and go for a walk, go get your coffee, do all this stuff, enjoy your day, and see if you can turn it around. Use this as a proof that this podcast can turn you one day around, one day at a time. That's all I'm asking for. So enjoy your day.

Speaker 1:

Live one day at a time, and I'll see you Monday.
