Good morning and welcome. Today we reflect on the journey of Moses as he recalls the victories over the mighty kings Sichon and Og. The text reveals God’s assurance to Moses, encouraging him to take possession of the lands belonging to these formidable foes. Rashi teaches us that every nation has a guardian angel, and God humbled the angel of the Amorites before the Israelites, symbolizing the divine support guiding them in their conquests. The narrative highlights the strength of both Sichon and Og, showcasing the miracles that occurred as they were defeated. Moses’ fear of Og, despite past victories, reflects a deep respect for the merit Og held from his kindness to Abraham. This portion emphasizes the importance of recognizing divine assistance in overcoming great challenges. As the Israelites prepare to inherit the land, we are reminded that with faith and determination, even the mightiest obstacles can be surmounted. May we carry this lesson with us.
