Good morning and welcome
to your morning cereal.
Okay, good morning and welcome to Friday.
We did it and unbelievably,
we've now crossed off all the Fridays
in January and February in 2026.
Now, the next stop,
it's March, unbelievable.
Well, today is National Chili Day,
the only food where secret ingredients
in your secret recipe is acceptable.
Well, yesterday's
trivia answer, Baba Ganoush,
the Middle Eastern spread
made from roasted eggplant
is Baba Ganoush.
And now the central
vitamins in your morning cereal,
today's quote, it's from birthday boy
turning just 45 today, Josh Groban,
who said, quote, "Be
present in all things
and thankful for all things," end quote.
All right, here's your morning decoder.
Josh is encouraging us
to find joy in meaning
in the present moment,
turning even ordinary or quiet
or even difficult times
into moments of growth.
All right, well, let's go
ahead and hear from the experts.
Now it is time to pour
in some Let Them Theory
by Mel Robbins.
And in this section, you
are the love of your life.
Mel flips the entire relationship
conversation inward.
After walking readers
through compatibility,
heartbreak and standards,
she lands on the one central truth,
the longest
relationship you're ever gonna have
is with yourself.
She says this quote, "You
are the one person guaranteed
to be with you for your
entire life," end quote.
Now that sentence, it
shifts everything, right?
Instead of chasing validation externally,
she encourages
cultivating stability internally.
Mel explains that many
relationship struggles
stem from outsourcing worth.
We look for someone else to choose us
so we can feel secure.
But when your self worth depends
on someone else's consistency,
your emotional stability becomes fragile.
She states plainly, quote,
"Stop auditioning for someone else's
approval," end quote.
Now that line, it lands hard
because so often we over
function, we over give,
we over compromise in
hopes of earning love.
The Let Them principle
applies here in a powerful way.
If someone undervalues you, let them.
If someone fails to
see your worth, let them.
Their perception does
not define your value.
But Mel doesn't frame self-love
as surface level positivity here.
She reframes it as discipline.
It's keeping promises to yourself.
It's honoring deal breakers.
It's choosing long-term respect over
short-term attention.
She explains that when you treat yourself
as the love of your own life,
your decisions become clear.
You stop tolerating misalignment.
You stop negotiating your standards.
And you stop chasing
potential and start choosing patterns.
Quote, "Self-respect is the foundation
of every healthy
relationship," end quote.
Now that's the anchor.
This chapter isn't about
isolation or independence
for its own sake.
It's about stability.
When you are secure in yourself,
partnerships become add-ons, right?
They're additions.
They're not lifelines for you.
All right, here is your Friday takeaway.
When you prioritize
self-respect and self-worth,
every other relationship
either rises to meet you
or it falls away.
All right, we'll add some spice to today,
but keep your standards hotter, I guess,
question mark within your chili.
Either way, it is time for the prize
from the bottom of the cereal box,
your morning cereal
trivia question of the day.
And it's the Friday edition.
Here it is.
What is watch out in German?
It's also part of a U2 album cover.
All right, hey, thanks for
listening to morning cereal.
Enjoy the final day of
February over the weekend
and we will see you back here on Monday
for the answer to the trivia question
and for more sugar for the soul.
And until then, have a fantastic day.
