David Hill: Should a Christian participate in Halloween? Hi, David Hill with a Gospel Minute. Traditions of Halloween have some connections to heathen practices, but it's hard to make the case that a little girl in a princess outfit is worshipping the devil. In reality, Halloween's become more of a festive fall event. Now, even in this, one should be careful not to violate conscience or God's laws of modesty, purity, and righteousness. Does Halloween train devil worship? Hardly think so, but one can worship the devil. Jesus taught us to live soberly and righteously before God. There's devil worship that's far more pervasive all around us daily. God says, "he who commits sin is of the devil" ( I John 3:8). One given to sinful living is a follower of the devil—you don’t have to put a mask on or go trick-or-treating; anyone not living righteously is living for the devil. God calls us through Christ Jesus to a better life of sinless purity. Jesus Himself said that most will not make that commitment (Matthew 7:13). How about you? Are you living for Jesus? If not, you're living for the devil and that road leads to hell. That's the Gospel. Thank you for listening to One Gospel Minute.
