Full show transcript:
I
was just scrolling because I was looking for something to kind of kick off today's show, and I found out that uh in order to help drivers prepare for the winter driving season ahead. The Idaho Transportation Department and Idaho State Police are teaming up to offer free winter driving safety classes. And I think this is awesome.
I do too.
Except how many people are actually going to partake in this? Not enough. This is an annual thing they've been doing,
and it's designed to help motorists navigate hazardous winter conditions with greater confidence and learn practical techniques to safely uh drive behind the wheel. Look, this winter is gonna be our daughter's first real winter driving. Exactly what I was thinking about.
And I'm thinking this is awesome. Like this is really good. Uh they go from preparing vehicles for winter weather, choosing proper equipment for your vehicle, defensive driving techniques, and safe uh safety when sharing the road with snow plows, which is cool. Um, and you're gonna hear directly from police troopers, uh snow plow operators, um a bunch of different people come in and kind of share like how to make this thing work. And they're doing this um like this Friday in Pocatello, next Monday in Idaho Falls, and the following Monday in Rigby, and then Wednesday the 18th in Rexburg. Um, so there's like all this information is at Easteidaho News.com. Um, so you can go and you can grab the story there. But that is very, very cool.
I think it's cool too.
I like that they're doing it in the different areas too. And you get a uh certificate of completion that you can submit to your auto insurance providers and potentially get a discount.
Dude.
Depending on uh what they say. But that's very cool.
Awesome.
Yeah. So uh anyway, it's this Friday in Pocatello. You can register online for all of these. Um, and then next Monday, a week from today in Idaho Falls. Uh so go check that out. East Idaho News.com if you want more info. I think that's great.
I think with as many people as uh we have that are new to the area that maybe haven't done winter driving ever before, or even if you just aren't confident you want to learn more, um, or you have young drivers in your home. What a great thing. So take advantage of that.
Get all that all those details. East Idaho News.com. And now,
shall we?
Let's start today.
Here's today's show. Well, good morning.
Good morning to you, sir.
How are you?
I am great.
Okay. Uh I was thinking that this morning I was gonna be like up and at them because of the time change. I was gonna be like energized and rip roaring, and then I could not fall asleep last night.
Oh no.
I had a terrible time falling asleep. We finished I finished the show we were watching.
I watched a whole movie after it. What movie did you watch?
Um, I'm trying to remember what it was called. Anyway, I watched a whole movie, and then I turned on my fishing show, and that's when I fell asleep. I went, all right.
What time was it?
I couldn't even tell you. We went to bed early too, I feel like.
It felt
earlier. I
I mean, it was like normal time by the time we got all settled into
sure. But it was the fallback. And
so
see, trying to go to bed at our
normal time is like trying to go to bed an hour earlier than our normal time. And then I was restless.
And so then that made this morning just like every other morning.
I know. I thought the same thing. I was like, we're gonna we're gonna get there with so much time to spare.
Um, what would I do with the spare time if I had it? I don't, I don't know. I I I just it was super strange to be kind of in this place where I went, yeah, this is gonna work out. This can be great. And then uh have it all just be the
Yeah.
So anyway, way. We are here nonetheless, and
uh We are here, we are here, we are here.
Yeah.
What's that movie from? Or what's that from? What movie is that from?
What do you say? What are you trying to say? Nothing.
Okay. If I say, we are here, we are here, we are here. What movie is that from?
I don't know. Is that oh, that's from uh this is uh Dr. Seuss.
It's from uh Horton Here's a Who. Yes.
Yeah, yeah.
Good job.
Yeah.
Press.
My brain was not ready for that quiz this morning, so thanks for that. All right, let's get you some good news this morning. Uh, this is kind of a fun little story. In Petersboro, England, the city council is working with wildlife experts to install green living roofs across 34 bus stops. They're turning the concrete shelter
tops into these lush mini wildflower gardens, essentially, which I think is so fun. Yeah. Uh each roof will be planted with a mix of 13 different wildflower seeds and five varieties of perennial plants. This is all to give local bees, butterflies, and other pollinators essential feeding spots right in the middle of the urban streets. They're built from recycled materials. The rooftop gardens uh look beautiful, and they soak up rain water, but they also provide an eco-friendly sanctuary where nature can thrive above the commuters' heads. And I think that's a great use of an otherwise
boring space.
That's great.
Yeah.
I like that.
They're pretty uh pretty fun with all the little flowers growing up there. Very, very cool. I like that.
We gotta have uh we gotta have more of that. More rooftop garden.
I think that's very fun. And you know what else?
Good news.
Good news. Well, here we are. It's November 2nd.
That's right.
Time change happened. We wrapped up October.
Yeah, we did.
Uh go ahead.
I was just gonna say, uh, let's talk about Halloween for a
minute because it didn't feel like Halloween.
For me, anyway. Okay, you have nothing to say.
I'm listening.
You should respond.
That wasn't a question.
Yes, it did.
It didn't feel like Halloween, at least to me, is not a question.
And you say, no, it didn't, or oh, how come?
Conversation is a ping-pong. I was still listening. I was still waiting for the serve. What do you mean? Go ahead. What else do you want to say about it?
I just, I mean, we had had a Halloween party on Friday. We got dressed up, yes five old mouse goists.
And me as Skeletor.
Because we don't dress up as a couple anymore because
you made that determination.
I did.
Okay. So
I'm
just going to do it. And you're totally cool with it.
I'm fine with it.
Sure. Do you know I left uh my staff at my cousin's place? And he has now claimed it.
Well, that's on you.
We loaded up uh the food. We loaded up our uh freshly carved pumpkin and we put everything in the truck and we went, see y'all hugs, hugs, left. And then he sent me a picture and he went, it's mine now.
So that's a thing. Skeletor needs to be more responsible for
his
power of doom. What's it called?
Yes.
What's it called?
I cannot remember
off the top of my head, but yes. Okay. So we had that, and then Saturday we had had some company over at our house and we were playing games, and I didn't buy any candy because it was too expensive. So we turned off our lights, and I didn't really want to be answering the door to trick-or-treaters anyway.
Okay.
But we haven't gotten a lot of trick-or-treaters in the last couple of years.
That's very true.
So I said, let's just turn off the light. We're busy playing games. Our kids know how to drive themselves now, and they were hanging out with friends.
And so it wasn't even like we had to drive them anywhere.
So it felt bizarre.
It
definitely I know over the past five years it's felt weirder and weirder and weirder.
Uh, because of those same
things.
I mean, our daughter's 17, our son is 22. Like it's just a very different vibe. Um, for most holidays.
Yeah. Strange.
Yeah.
Strange time of life. We did have two trick-or-treaters, even with our light up.
Two groups.
Nope, just two.
They were solo.
Just two young boys.
And all we had was uh, because we didn't buy candy.
No, we just had pretzels, and then uh our daughter was like, here's some talkies I don't like. Put those in the bowl.
And so that was what we handed out was packs of pretzels. Two.
I handed out two bags of pretzels.
At one point, you are you gonna tell that story?
Yeah about the embarrassing thing you did. It wasn't embarrassing. I'd do it again.
Are you gonna tell the story now?
Yeah, I can do it now.
Because one of the trick-or-treaters came to the door.
Two, the two, the
only trick-or-treaters we had. Yeah.
They were about, I don't know, I'd say they were about 11 or 12.
What were they dressed up as?
Uh, don't know.
One of them had like a mask that glowed almost like a purge mask. Okay.
And then the other one was, I don't know.
They were dressed up though. Yeah. Okay.
They had costumes on.
And you threw pretzels out the door, and
then you said, Don't get into mischief. I said, Don't you go causing any mischief?
And then you shut the door like that fast. Don't you go causing any mischief? And then you shut the door and you were laughing so hard you were on the floor. So I don't know what happened.
I just wanted every to hear it. She was home at the time getting ready. And I go, Emory, did you hear what I said? And she said no. And I went, dang it. Because that was gold. And that would have embarrassed her.
Which I think she had secondhand embarrassment after you told her the story. But then tell me, You did not. I did. Yeah.
I do it again.
Don't you get in any mischief. Slam.
I didn't realize I had slammed the door.
You did.
I I didn't mean to. I wanted to say the funny mischief joke. Oh, buddy.
Anyway.
Halloween's over.
It's done.
Once again.
It's in the books.
I got my plan for next year.
You do. Mm-hmm. For your costume?
Mm-hmm.
You want to tell me?
Mm-mm. You
don't want to tell me at all.
You already know.
Do I?
Yeah, you do.
Did I listen?
Yes, because you were helping me plan the outfit.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I don't remember.
I know.
It's the problem with me.
Goldfish. Well,
now we move on to Thanksgiving and then Christmas and then the new year. And then uh it's 2027.
Just keep on a rolling, man.
That's right. That's exactly right. Happy November 2nd.
Oh, sorry. I forgot. Okay, here we are. I forget sometimes we have a sheet of what we're gonna talk about, and then I'm doing something else on the internet, and I forget to look at the sheet of what we're gonna talk about.
I see.
I found it. You have a boat now.
Yeah.
And lucky me, lucky us, your buddy John sells boats.
That's right.
And he has been talking to you about your boat.
That's right.
And he gave you a boat checklist.
That's right. You love a list.
I do love a list.
What do you think about the boat list?
That boat checklist has been all around the house. You keep grabbing it and writing stuff on
it, and then y'all you'll keep
looking at it and then looking at the internet for stuff.
Yeah.
You're compiling stuff on that boat checklist.
And
you're gathering something.
And I'm supply- I'm uh I'm also gathering things physically. And and preparing them for the boat.
Yeah, but the boat's not like gonna go out into the water until the spring, probably. I don't know.
We'll see what happens, but uh because you you you know, as long as the water's flowing, you can put a boat in there.
That's true.
Yeah.
I'm so happy you have this boat checklist.
Well, I'm working on it. There's a lot of things on here, and and there's some stuff that's kind of you know, um extra, I guess, but there's a lot on there that's like this is pretty essential. This is this is boat essential. Like you want to make sure you have a couple of spares of things in case something happens. Like uh, I don't know how much you've looked at the boat, but you know what the ore lock is?
Yes, actually, I
do that's a little horseshoe thing
where yours go. Yeah,
so you should carry an extra one of those because
that's can break, and if it breaks, it's real hard to owe your boat.
So, like that's the kind of stuff on this list. It's uh it's emergency stuff, it's tools, it's first aid, it's uh you know, stuff like bug spray and sunscreen, and guess what?
A lot of this stuff is on clearance right now, and I love a good deal. So yeah, I'm I'm looking around, but then there's some other stuff that I'm like I need, and I've seen some similar items when I've been out and about, and I'm like, yeah, but that's item is kind of what I need, but it's not exactly, or it's not you know what's necessarily on the list, and I'm like, do I need that? Or so I'm I'm kind of um I'm looking around at things as well a little bit differently because you've got the I've got boat eyes.
Boat eyes.
Yeah.
What's a boat eye?
A boat eye?
Yeah.
That's uh when I I look at stuff and I go, do I need that for the boat? I've got boat eyes. Would that would that be something like need in the boat?
You came up, we were trying to think of a name for the boat.
Yes.
And then you woke up. The first thing you said to me when you woke up
yesterday. I'm telling you,
it's between the weird vivid dream the other day and then this. I'm like, I'm things are happening. What does that mean? Things are happening. You just rolled over and you go, I got a name for the boat.
Yep.
It came to me last night.
That's right.
Are you gonna say the name of the boat?
I can go
for it.
So let me tell you the definition of the name of the boat.
Okay.
Uh, the occurrence of finding valuable, pleasant, or interesting things by chance without actively looking for them. That is the definition of the word what?
Nothing.
Okay.
I was I was going to say you think that this boat was an act of chance.
I think the whole thing of the boat and the timing and also the activity in the boat, the fishing, like a lot of things have to be uh happening all in sequence in order for things to uh to happen.
You get if you want to catch a fish, you're gonna be at the right spot with the right food with the right presentation with all these things. Everything has to be uh serendipitous. The uh the the name of the boat is serendipity, which is a it's a good name for a boat, in my opinion.
It is a good name for a boat. a boat.
Uh serendipity.
Are you gonna vinyl it on there?
I don't know.
Or you're just gonna call it that.
I mean, you you said it needed a name.
Well,
every boat has to have a name. Well, I named it.
But are you gonna tag it with that name, or are you just gonna say this is the name of my boat?
Hmm. I don't know.
Okay.
Here's something that is a key characteristic of serendipity.
And tell me this doesn't apply. This is fantastic.
Unlike general luck, which can be good or bad, serendipity strictly refers to a happy, beneficial, and fortunate outcome. Catch those fish. It's such a good name. It's like the perfect boat name. And it came to me in a dream. I like that.
Anyway. Have a name for the boat.
I
could just call it boat checklist. I was gonna say, was that on the checklist?
Naming the boat is not on the checklist. As a matter of fact, I need to tell John he needs to add that. Name your boat. And then he needs to have a little blank space where you can fill in the name of your boat.
Yeah.
Name your boat.
It's part of the boat checklist.
That's right. Just don't name it serendipity. That's taken.
Yeah, there's already a serendipity on the water.
That's right.
It's only one room for a serendipity on these waters.
Only room for one.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
If you got it, if you think you've got a serendipity, shoo shoo. Yeah, that's right.
We were at a family Halloween party on Friday, and we were carving some pumpkins, and uh our brother-in-law leans over and says, Hey, I've got some comic books. He's in this, he's in this hobby of buying some comic books and then reselling them. And he goes, I have a whole bunch of comic books. Are any of you like tell me what you're interested in, and I'll I'll bring you guys some comic books. And I looked at him and I said, I'm not interested in any comic books. And he was shocked.
Was he? Yeah.
He just looked at me like, you're kidding, right? And I went, no.
Not even Archie and Jughead.
No, I'm not interested in any comic books.
I like comic strips.
I
like peanuts. Garfield's always good for a I hate Mondays. Or lasagna and a nap.
I don't know who he thought he was talking to because nobody else even responded. I think they were all kind of preoccupied in other conversations, but he clearly was he knew that I was listening, and he was really excited about like, tell me what you're interested in.
I'll I'll bring you some. And I just went, no.
Thanks.
So I just I just did a uh Google search for best comic book of all time. Yeah. Uh the greatest comic book of all time has been listed as uh Watchman, which is a graphic novel, to be fair. Uh similar but different.
Right.
Batman The Dark Knight Returns is high on the list. Now that came out in 86.
If you sorry, if you ever meet my dad, anybody
listening, if you ever meet my dad,
ask him about his comic book collection, because he'll tell you. When he went off to the army, his mom threw away
his first edition Spider-Man.
Superman, Superman. What a Superman. First edition. He had a first edition Superman, but his mom threw it away. When he went to the army, ask him, he'll tell you.
Is that followed by I this is my rags to riches story? Because it feels like he feels like if I had that, I would have a billion dollars.
And uh and I it would unlock my potential.
Like that's how that story feels. Uh so anyway, those are like uh the couple of the really high ones. V for Vendetta is high on the list. Um I was trying to find uh Adventures of Tin Tin.
Are you interested in any comic books?
Not particularly. I do love Calvin and Hobbes, which is number 14 here,
but again, that's a strip.
I had uh I did own a couple of Calvin and Hobbes books uh when I was younger. Those are very, very cool.
What about the family circus?
I don't care for it.
Um yeah, I don't know if anybody responded to the question.
I
don't know who else heard it. That's what I'm saying.
What about the saga of swamp thing? You want to read that?
No, I'm I just told you I'm not interested in any comic book.
That's why I was trying to find one you might be into.
No, I'm not. I'm not interested in it.
What about understanding comics? Would that be a helpful book?
No. No, no,
no. What about
it seems to me as though maybe he has bought a plethora of comic books, and now he's like, I need to get rid of these.
I gotta offload this inventory.
Somebody take all of this. And I went, no. I don't need any more stuff at my house
either.
And I also don't want any comic books.
No, thanks for right, right, right, right. None, huh?
No.
Not even just one little cardboard box with comics and individual sleeves.
No.
None of that.
No.
Wild.
I would have thought you would have been into that. No, he was. I think he did too, because he was taken aback when I said, Oh, I'm not.
No, I know you're not.
I'm not interested in any of that. And he went, what? What? I went, oh.
Hey, I got this box of quilting thread. Anybody want that? Anybody want this box of different colored threads? And he would have been like, yes, me, right here. But no, he said comic books, and you went, mm-mm. Not for me.
No. You know your audience, buddy.
I guess. It wasn't you.
It's not me. It's November.
Yeah.
Which means that peppermint is back.
Yes, it is.
And we have a daughter who always needs refreshment.
Yeah.
Let's go get a refreshment.
Can we go get a drink? Anybody want to go get a drink? Anybody need a refreshment? Anybody want a treat? Anyone need to go anywhere today? And maybe we could stop and get a treat on the way.
I don't know why she talks like that, but that's the voice I hear every time she says it. Anybody else uh feeling a little like they want a treat? I was just sitting here and a breeze came through the door, and I thought, oh, that that means I need a treat. What? What are you talking about?
And you were happy to oblige because your peppermint is back.
Yes.
In season.
That's right.
So we go, we get a treat, and they said, Do you want the candy cane sprinkles on top?
No, I just said no. I I straight up knew I didn't want that. I said, I don't want any candy cane. Don't crumble up a candy cane on there. I don't want that.
And Emery leans forward from the back seat and whispers to me, he has no whimsy.
I don't need whimsy, first of all. I know what I like. And it's not a bunch of crushed up candy cane on top. I've had it. I don't like it.
Maybe you need a little bit of whimsy.
I have plenty of whimsy.
You seem a little bit grumpy about your candy cane sprinkles.
I don't want them.
I got, I'll tell you what I got.
You got uh a
banana bread chai.
Yeah, with cinnamon on it.
Yeah, I said, give me the cinnamon sprinkles.
Was it cinnamon sprinkles or just cinnamon? I think it's just cinnamon.
Uh cinnamon sprinkles. No. Yeah. That's
cinnamon.
You sprinkle cinnamon. That's cinnamon sprinkles.
I disagree.
I disagree
with your disagreement. Sprinkles are chunky.
No.
Yes.
No. Yeah.
Yes.
What do you do when you put cinnamon on it then? Sprinkle.
No.
Yes.
No.
You sprinkle the cinnamon.
Sparinkle.
Because you know why I got the sprinkles? I have whimsy.
Uh I had peppermint in my drink. That's pretty whimsical.
What are you Googling?
Uh, hold on.
Okay. You
gotta talk.
I don't, what am I gonna say? I
don't know. Um Are
you ready to talk? I don't know how to stall.
I I'm just trying to figure out what the actual motion of adding cinnamon to anything is called. And I don't think it's sprinkling.
It's sprinkling.
No.
A sprinkle with salt and pepper.
No.
Yes.
You add a pinch of salt and pepper. You add it.
That's a pinch. That's not a sprinkle. If you're taking your container and you're putting salt and
pepper with your container, that's I don't think it's that's
not sprinkling.
What? Uh
even on their menu, it says a sprinkle of pet cinnamon, it says it's a sprinkle say Okay.
tiny pieces of colored sugar chocolate or candy in uh and depending on where you live, also called hundreds and thousands or jimmies, um, used to decorate ice cream, cupcakes, donuts, cookies, etc. Uh also a sprinkle is a very light short-lived fall or drizzle of rain. Now the verb to drop or distribute small drops, particles or a powder lightly and evenly over the surface.
Mm-hmm.
Uh can be used uh, you know, a
sprinkle.
Um but I don't think that's the culinary term.
Yes.
A sprinkle of cinnamon is a common and natural way to describe adding a small light dusting of ground cinnamon over food or a drink, such as
oatmeal, toast, hot chocolate,
yeah,
or a latte.
Right.
As in a chai latte.
Yeah. You
can do a pinch of cinnamon,
which is a tiny amount you can pick up between your fingers. You can use a dash, which is a quick light shake from a spice jar. Sure.
Or sprinkles,
okay, which is what you what you're saying.
Sprinkles.
I like the word dust better.
Which is also a sprinkle.
No, it's I know I'm I understand. But to cover lightly with a fine powdery substance like flour or sugar is to dust your beverage with cinnamon. And I like that better. And the the actual thing I learned is called a dredge. So you could actually say you're going to dredge cinnamon.
I'm not going
over the top.
I'm not going to that place and saying, can you dust it with some cinnamon?
Do you know how fancy that sounds? I'd like a light dusting of cinnamon across the top, please. That sounds whimsical, doesn't it? It does. And you know the look I would get from her if I said, Would you please uh dust a little bit of peppermint across the top of my beverage? She would lose her mind.
Who am right?
Yes. I called a guy by the name on his name tag, and she had a few.
Well, that was awkward.
Why? Why? The guy at the paint counter. Yeah.
And you're talking to him, and
you're like, here's the paint I want. Can you mix this up for me? And you said, yeah. And you said, I have more shopping to do. And he goes, Great, this will just be on the counter when it's done. And you go, hey, thanks, Bryce. Yep.
Weird.
That's weird. Why is that weird? He has a name tag.
It's weird. Even I thought that was weird.
Don't wear a name tag then. Why is that weird?
Because it's weird.
I don't think that's weird at all. That's whimsical. He's the paint creator. Bryce the paint creator. And I get to go, thanks, Bryce. And then everybody ran away.
Like I like, what have I done? Because even he was like, that's weird, dude.
You don't know me.
You don't know me. Just because I'm wearing a name tag. You don't get to call me by my name.
His name's Bryce, and he's the paint maker. What happened?
Oh, I don't even want to talk about it.
Well, I'm gonna tell you one, you need to you need to come to terms with it. You're gonna have to talk about it. But two, I think it's your own fault.
I think it's my fault.
I think it's your fault.
Not necessarily my team's fault,
but I think it's your fault.
I think you might be right.
Your football team, the Minnesota Vikings, was undefeated until this weekend. They played against the Lions. They lost yesterday to the Lions. And uh and they played a good game, but you you struggle in your with your offense. Best defense hands down in the NFL, the Minnesota Vikings. You struggle with the offense. You have great power players. You just can't put it all together to pull it off. And that is what got you
in the fourth quarter. At
the very end of the game.
I think our our defense got tired.
Okay.
And then the lions were like, yeah, we showed up to play now.
Yeah, I think they they did what lions do. They preyed on you until you were tired and then they attacked. Um in true lion form.
And I'm not mad about losing to the lions.
You should be. You should be very good.
I know, and I am, but I really like the lions.
I really like Jared Goff, and I really like Dan
Gamble.
Right. The coach. Yeah. Um, so here's but here's the thing. That's an in division rivalry. That's a tough one to lose. And it's a tough one to break your undefeated streak on. Um, because all things considered, probably should have won that game. But here's what happened. For the first time this season, you put on your Minnesota Vikings hoodie.
You said that's not true, because I put it on the very first game.
Okay.
The very, very good.
That's right, because you took a picture.
And I said, football's back.
Right. You took a picture and wearing your hoodie is when the very first play was against Green Bay, and they scored. And you were wearing the shirt and you were like, look at it. Football's back.
And the score was they returned the opening
kickoff and like did very well.
You know it.
So it was probably not the right thing to wear.
I know. We're still. Here's the thing. We're still doing really good. We're six and one, which is still
Oh, it's fantastic.
Awesome. We're the number one in our division. Our Packers loving boss sent me a
text yesterday, and I said, I'm sorry.
You are last in our division.
So you don't get to
talk trash.
Wow. I
sent him a screenshot to just remind him. Five and three is not six and one. So maybe back off.
Uh-huh.
Which is what the Packers are. Five and three. You can't say anything. We're six and one. Get out. Okay. Don't come at me, bro.
All right. So other than that game, anything else uh happening?
Oh, that Broncos Chiefs game was pretty great.
Yeah, did you like that? In the last eight minutes. Yeah, you really had well, even the last four. You really liked the last four minutes of that game.
I sure did. Yeah.
Okay. Anytime you get to watch the Chiefs not have a victory, you like that. I
see
you like that.
You like that? I said, I think I like the Chiefs. I think I care more about the Chiefs losing than I do about the Vikings winning.
Wow. That's quite the statement.
I know. And then I got mad because they had a the Chiefs had a touchdown, and then the guy was celebrating, and then Travis Kelsey came to celebrate with them, and I was like, get out of here. Were you trying to steal the spotlight?
To which our son said, yeah. Our son goes, he can't celebrate with his team when something awesome happens that that upsets you. Your gatekeeping celebrations now.
No, only you. Get out of here. Stop trying to steal the spotlight.
You really do not like Travis Kelsey.
I really do not.
Yeah.
I really do not. I don't like anybody on the Chiefs, honestly.
Yeah. Do you like to watch uh Mahomes run? Because I think that made you laugh a lot.
I like to watch him get sacked by the other friends.
Right. I like that. Watching him peel himself off the ground. Okay. There's something wrong with you.
No. I'm sorry. Chiefs ads. Sorry. Not sorry.
Six and one. Six in one. Listen, you and I made it a point last week to get out and vote early. It was the last day to vote early. If you didn't vote early, you vote tomorrow.
Yeah.
Please, please, please visit vote Idaho.gov. Please make a plan to get out and vote. Uh it's very important. This is uh the midterms, this is a big deal. Uh so if you can make it, uh, or if you need uh, you know, away, I'm sure there are people that will help you get out there, get out and vote when you go vote, take a friend. Go vote. Uh, tomorrow is the day. 8 a.m.
to 8 p.m., get out and vote. Now, regardless of what you want to vote for, there are a few things I think in society that reign true. And one of them is theft is wrong.
Yep. And trespassing.
I think bad. Yeah. Uh so if let's say you're Josh and Chantel and you have a sign in your yard that says, hey, here's something we support. And uh then the camera shows video of you being a strange person coming into our property and taking a sign from our house and throwing it in the back of your truck and driving away. That's not okay.
It's not okay.
That's trespassing and thievery. That's right. And that happened.
You stole my thing. That's my thing.
That's right.
You stole it.
This person. That's right.
Stole my sign.
A person walked into the front yard, yanked it out of the ground, and then
Ran
away. ski daddled.
An adult person.
An adult human being in our neighborhood, likely. Came into the yard and took it and then went away.
I was really mad.
I know.
I was really mad about it.
Yeah. Don't
see it.
I have the video. I don't know what to do with it though. Yeah.
But I have it. We have it on tape.
That's right. I do on tape.
We should. We were gonna project it on the side
of I did think that was one move. Um I was gonna say I was gonna put another sign out that said you stole my sign, but it doesn't change how I'm gonna vote.
Right.
Um that was an idea.
I had. And jokes on you, I already voted.
Yeah, and I voted early. So like all you did was save me from cleaning up the sign, I guess.
All you did was make me mad at it. Tomorrow. Well, there's that.
Stop walking on my yard and stealing my stuff. Yeah, you're not welcome in my yard. Uh so don't do that. Um, also, can we talk about the there needs to be a system? We voted early. I don't need to get campaign texts anymore.
I don't need to get campaign text at all.
Well, the amount of campaign texts is insane. Yeah, you're gonna discourage people
from so
participation
over the campaign text. I got like seven of them yesterday.
I know it's bananas.
Stop.
And I reply stop, and I reply stop, and I reply stop.
And then they just text with a new number.
I know. It's
crazy.
It's crazy. So uh there needs to be a way that you can say, I've already voted, don't waste your campaign resources on me anymore. I'm done. I voted, I'm I'm good. I am sorry.
I'm all good. Yeah,
you don't have to worry about it.
Right.
Those are the things I need to happen. I need people to not enter my property and steal my things. I need a way to turn everything off so that they know, like, hey, this guy's done. We don't need to talk to him anymore.
Yeah.
And then uh, and then also uh tomorrow is is the day. So get out and vote.
It did. We were getting a lot of the texts that were like, um we noticed that your housemate,
Beck didn't vote in the last thing, yeah.
Maybe encourage him to get out and vote. And that made Beck a little bit angry because he's
like, You guys shouldn't know whether or not I voted. Right.
That's an infringement of my privacy.
Well, and but it's public information, and they're like public records show like they lead with that.
Right public information. Like, this isn't like some secret thing. But that's the first time I've seen that kind of thing. And and again, they're trying to increase participation.
We need more people involved in the electoral process. We need more people to turn out and vote. And you can say, like, oh, my vote doesn't matter. It does. It it really does. And you should make a plan to get out and vote. Um, so tomorrow, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., get out there, vote. If you need information, you don't know where to go to vote. You can register day of too in Idaho. You can register at your voting place.
If you don't know where to vote, go to vote idaho.gov.
Yep. All the details are there. You can see a sample ballot, so you can you can see exactly what is gonna be on there before you go out and cast your ballot. Like it's great information.
I will say, because Beck would we took Beck on Friday to go vote with us. Right.
And he was like, How long is it gonna take?
I go, It's quick, like
10 to 15 minutes. I will say,
sometimes filling in the bubbles takes a little bit of time.
We both I was like in and out. Um because I did. I pulled a practice ballot, I knew what I was looking for. Um, I was able to uh research a couple of things and look into different people like that.
I recommend like know what you're voting for. Like go actually like look into it. Don't just show up and go, eh, I don't know who that is.
I heard that name, whatever that one's got that next to it. Like, just like do a five minutes of like looking into something, maybe um before you go vote. But uh do it tomorrow, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Uh, the polls will be open, and then uh, you know, we could see what happens after that. But
don't
go steal people's signs. Yeah, don't do that. It's lame. Even if you disagree with the message, that's like that's okay. There's room for multiple opinions in this world, and that's okay.
Don't walk into my property and steal my stuff. Now I'm mad at you, and I called you out on the radio.
That's right.
And I saw it. And we have a video.
I saw your bedazzled jeans. I know who you are.
Whoo-hoo. We have a family group text.
We have multiple family group texts.
We do.
There's ones with all of us, there's ones with like bigger groups of the family. There's ones with uh just you and me and our daughter, you and me and our son, like there's ones with uh the kids and me, you've got one with just the kids. Those ones you usually used uh, you know, kind of around holidays mostly.
Right.
Uh but anyway, yeah. No, there's plenty of text groups I'm part of. What do you want to say about it?
I will say that our children hate them. Yeah.
They complain about like this text group just keeps going off, and people keep talking about nonsense in there. It's just conversation. That's all it is. It's just family having a convo.
Yeah, and he said, I'm about to get I'm about to exit out of the group chat, but everyone's gonna know that I exited, and that feels rude.
Well, it is.
And then I said, but then you're not gonna know what's going on when we have parties and things. And then we're gonna be like, we're going to a the party, and you're not gonna know. And then you're not gonna get the invite.
Yeah. And
he goes, so I go, you better stay in the group chat.
Right. They
can't handle it. They can't handle how many texts we can do.
There's not that many. I know there's not that many. I have way more active text groups.
I know. I know.
Like way more active text groups. And I like some I can't even keep up with
like coworkers.
Yeah. And I go, like, I I'm out of this loop, but I'll catch up.
Well, we have some with some friends, and I'm like, did you see that text from our friends? And you're like, no. I'm like, I'll answer for the both of us.
That works. I like that.
Josh is not. Listen, if you're part of our family text group or you're part of part of our friend text group, just know that Josh is not a great texter.
So No, but if you call me, I'll talk to you for an hour.
He will. But who wants to do that?
Apparently no one.
No one. No one ever calls. But also.
I love talking to people.
If you need to get a hold of a hold of Josh, let me know.
Could you uh run that uh by me one more time? If if someone wants to get a hold of me, they should contact you.
Sorry. If somebody wants to get a hold of Josh, they should contact me.
Is that what I said? I think that's what you said. I just wanted to make sure I understood. I kind of like that.
No, I hate that.
No, I like that a lot.
I'm not gonna be your assistant. Forget about it. Forget I said.
No, I think this is a good idea.
I hate this.
But I kind of am. Because you could just say, hey, so and so wants to know this, and I could go, yeah, yeah, yeah. And you could text, yeah, yeah, yeah. And that'd be great. I
mean that'd be great. It has to be that way sometimes, because I'll text you like in a group chat that you're in, somebody will ask you a question, and then hours and hours and hours later, I'll say, Did you respond to that text? And you go, No, I didn't even see it. I'm like, oh yeah.
I need you to be more uh what's the word I want? Vigilant in my text.
I can't, Josh. Here's why.
Why?
Because I am tired.
That's all. That's the only reason.
Well, I have decision fatigue.
I'm tired of you don't have to make a decision.
I'll answer. I just don't.
I will answer questions.
I'm tired of being responsible for stuff.
Somebody's reaching out. You just go, hey, somebody needs to know this, and I'll be like, yes, absolutely. Let's answer that. Because if I could just say the thing and you would type it out and send it, awesome.
So annoying. I'm not doing that.
Forget I said that.
Okay. Forget about it.
Sound like a good system.
It it probably needs to happen.
I'd probably people would be like, look at how great he is at communicating. He answered right away.
No, I'm gonna say I'm responding on behalf of Josh. Maybe that's what
I've got to do. Every time
if people need to ask you a question, I'll be like, I'm gonna answer for him. And I'll just answer the way I want you to answer. How about that?
That's interesting. Will it be the way I would answer or the way you
answer for me? That
it's
not gonna be the way you answer. It's gonna be the way I want to.
How often do you think you'd get the answer the same as what I would actually say? And how often would you be sabotaging?
Most of the time.
Most of the time you'd be sabotaging.
Yeah. People be like, hey, Josh, can you come help me with this thing? I'll be like, love to be there in 10.
No, don't do that. On second thought, I'll answer for myself by not answering.
I got my hair done
on Friday, which is always a good day. I was there for five hours. Dude. That's it's pretty crazy.
It was crazy. It was crazy. Um, I have I have had black hair for a long time. That's not my natural hair color.
Sure.
And I said, I want something different. And so we had to do some processing and some bleaching and uh some washing and glazing.
Okay. Do
you know you could glaze your hair?
What does that mean? I don't
necessarily
like a donut.
I don't know what it means, actually, but I she goes, I'm gonna put some glaze in your hair. And I don't know what that meant.
But a hair glaze is a semi-permanent or direct deposit treatment that coats the outer hair cuticle to boost shine, smooth frizz, and optionally add a sheer hint of color.
Okay. Well, good job looking that up. I didn't know.
It adds a mirror-like shine.
Does it look shiny?
Oh, yeah, there's a shine to it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh, it'll seal the cuticle so it calms flyaways, improve improves manageability with with the frizz.
Okay.
All right.
Okay.
I don't know. You got a little bit of frizz
going. There
is no freeze. There's a little bit.
No.
There's a little bit.
Josh.
I'm just telling you. I'm looking at your head. There's a little bit on this side and a little bit on this side. It could be because the headphones on.
I bet it is.
It's totally possible. Uh many glazes contain temporary pigments, things like espresso, copper, or honey. Okay.
It was there was some copper when she bleached my hair.
Yeah, you sent me a picture. It was first of all, your hair is really long. Like pretty dang long.
Yeah.
Especially in that photo.
Which one?
The one with your where your hair was pretty orange.
Yeah. Copper. Yeah, this one. Yeah, it's pretty long.
It's way long.
I know I like it.
You do?
I do.
Okay.
Do you not?
Whatever. I don't really have a strong opinion. I have an opinion. It's just not a strong one.
And it doesn't matter. What's your opinion?
It's not my fave.
You don't like the long hair?
It's it's fine.
Okay.
I don't have like a whatever. I'll tell you, here's the annoying thing.
What?
When I go to bed, and then you go, ow, ow, ow. And I go, what? Your hair's everywhere. I I can't even exist in the bed. Because no matter where I put my arm, you're like, you're on my hair. I'm like, why is your hair everywhere? So I don't I don't necessarily love that.
No, I know. And I know that you have a preference for a shorter hair.
Yeah.
But I
it's not my head.
I didn't like short hair. I've had short hair.
I've been I've got to be. I'm not saying you need to do pixie cut or anything.
I've been trying to do a photo collage post.
So I'm trying to edit some pictures because
I've had a lot of different hair colors. I've had red, I've had blonde,
I've had black, I've had purple, I've had
different shades of red, different shades of brown. I like this one. It's darker than I thought I was gonna have.
Yeah.
Um, and she said that's okay. It'll fade. And then when I go back for my checkup appointment, then we
click your hair checkup?
Yeah.
I'm bald. I don't know these things.
Yeah, you gotta go get the roots touched up and all that. So she's like, we'll readjust then at that time.
But I
like it. Do you like it?
Yeah.
I was shooting for like an auburn red.
Okay.
Like an o like a brownish red.
Do you feel like you got there? I can tell like with the light hitting it right now. There's definitely a red in there. Okay.
You said you liked it on Friday.
Yeah.
Okay.
Hasn't changed. Still checks out.
I'm gonna put, I'm gonna finish this photo collage. I'm not so good at at Canva.
Okay.
But I'm I'm working on it. I'm I'm learning a new trick. This old dog is learning how to operate stuff.
You're not an old dog. All right.
Thanks, dear.
You're welcome. Would you rather this or that?
Okay, hold on. My computer just decided to go to sleep. Would you rather have to eat Thanksgiving leftovers for every meal for the entire month of November? Or have Christmas music playing everywhere you go starting November 1st.
I feel like that's already happening.
Christmas music?
Yeah, so I'm gonna take that anyway.
Where did you hear Christmas?
I heard a lot of uh stuff over
the I know that there's
a lot of
influencers that are decorating for Christmas already.
Oh yeah. And I don't love Thanksgiving leftovers enough to have them for every meal.
No, me
not for the whole month. So instead, I will have Christmas music because I'm probably gonna have it anyway. Because it's already everywhere.
Okay. I'm gonna pick that too for the same reason.
Yeah, I couldn't eat the Thanksgiving leftovers every day.
Every day for a month.
No way. I
don't, yeah.
It feels like that post-Thanksgiving anyway. All I'm eating is more Thanksgiving for a month.
Okay, well, that was an easy one.
Yeah, I think so. I just you know, easy preference. So
easy peasy.
Would you rather this or that?
Let's talk about the washing machine lock.
What does that mean?
Oh, let me tell you. So you know how you start your washing machine and it lo like the new washing machines now.
Well, they've locked for a long time. You used to have a lever, you could lock it yourself. Same with your oven. Okay.
And it like it's the sh the cycle starts and then it goes lock.
Yeah.
And you can't open the lid unless you hit pause.
And sometimes when you hit pause, it restarts the whole cycle. Like it adds more time and it restarts the whole cycle. Yes. I haven't seen that.
Um and it's kind of annoying because if you find a random sock that you dropped along the
way, yes,
and you're like, I gotta go throw this in. And you you have to, you can't just open the lid. You have to hit pause
and then you gotta wait, and then it unlocks, and then you throw your sock in. Yeah.
It's kind of annoying, isn't it?
Yeah, I'm with you. What do you want to do about it?
That's there's nothing.
There's nothing I'm gonna do about it. about it. I can't change the way the washer works.
And I understand it's probably for safety reasons, and I'm I'm sure.
What are those safety reasons?
Like you're gonna fall in. I don't know. Why did they put locks on washers?
So you couldn't fall in. I I can't wait to see what you find out.
Okay, keep talking while I do the research.
Uh what? I have to I have to stall. I don't know how to stall.
Okay, so it says
first safety, regulatory compliance, and machine protection. Okay, regulatory compliance, which means something happened, and so legally they have to do this now.
It says, yeah, the machine drums spin at very high speeds.
Locking prevents the users from opening the lid while the drum is moving, avoiding severe injuries like broken bones or lacerations. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Um, in front loading washers, the door lock prevents water from spilling out onto the floor mid-cycle. So that's I see the point of that.
We have a top loader. Sure. Um But here's a here's a question though.
It keeps curious kids from opening
the machine touching catching the hot water. I guess it depends on what you have the setting on. But listen, if you uh are opening that during the spin cycle, you're crazy. But but couldn't there be a thing that says, hey, I'm gonna be starting, I'm gonna be putting some water in there, I'm gonna do a little sloshy thing. Like that's okay to open the lid, but once I get ready for spin cycle, lid locks.
Yeah, that that would be
like we have an electronic situation where it locks the lid with some sort of it goes click and locks the lid.
So couldn't that process, that locking be later in the cycle? Because I'm not adding socks during the sloshing.
That's what I'm saying.
I'm adding socks like in the first.
Yeah, give me
three five minutes of your cycle where you're just getting things ready and you're like, I'm gonna dump some water in, and it's gonna be like laundry time, and I'm all excited. And then uh and then before you start going like slosh slosh slosh slosh. Well before that, then you can lock it. But like, give me give me some time. I like that washing machine.
I'm so excited about doing its work. Don't you think it is?
I'm pouring some water in.
Yeah, I'm gonna put in I'm making laundry. Here we go. I've got dirty clothes, I'm going clean. Add some water, and then it's like you put in softener. Time to do that. And then it's like and then and then it's like slosh, lock, slosh, slosh. Ooh, so soft. Oh, bleach, you did bleach too. It's bleach time.
We got a full routine today.
Yeah, we're doing we're doing a what do you call that?
A full shower. We got whites.
Yeah, nice. We're doing towels. You know?
Oh, that's funny.
Yeah, I don't know, maybe.
I like your cheerful washing machine. I would I would like for it to happen later. I guess I agree with you.
But I can't, I can't get in there and program it. I can't be bothered.
No, I no, it's fine. I don't expect you to go program it.
I just wish that it would do that later. I'm with you.
Because I don't need it all the time either.
It's just those random ones where I go, oh right. It's exactly right.
That's all. All
right. Well,
okay. With that being said, let's wrap it up. Okay.
We'll see you tomorrow. Happy Monday. Welcome to November.
Happy November. Woo wee. Here we go, kids.
Woo! Talk to you tomorrow. Have a good day.
Goodbye.
