We cover the sport of CrossFit from all angles. We talk with athletes, coaches and celebrities that compete and surround in the sport of CrossFit at all levels. We also bring you Breaking News, Human Interest Stories and report on the Methodology of CrossFit. We also use the methodology to make ourselves the fittest we can be.
So when that lunch bell ring, yeah,
you know what to do.
Hit play, stay strong,
let the ball carry you.
Clydesdale Cowboy, yeah, we stay on track.
Midday Kings of the mic, yeah,
we always come back.
From the gym to the screen, yeah,
we cover it all.
Midday motivation every time you press
call.
Lunch with the Clydesdale.
Cowboy bring the heat.
Crossfit, boobies, music on repeat.
Half hour hustle, yeah,
we building that brand.
Grab a plate, tune in now,
you're part of the fam.
What is going on, everybody?
If you are still up,
you must be on the West Coast.
I thought I would do one more show
before I left San Jose.
I'm catching an Uber down to San Francisco
in about an hour.
So just trying to fill some time before
I have to jump in an Uber and
head down there because I'm taking the
overnight red eye from
Um,
from San Francisco to Columbus tonight,
so I can get in bed when in
my own bed tomorrow at some point.
But, um, I wanted to like,
just kind of debrief kind of the
experience here in San Jose.
Uh,
I want to say like I came in,
um,
And yes about bedtime in Southern
California at eight o'clock Meredith.
Are you ninety?
I'm just just kidding.
What a cool like.
It was just a cool weekend.
I could nitpick things if I wanted to
here and there,
but overall the entire games was just a
fun watch.
fun to hang out uh there were only
like two drops in emotion inside the uh
inside the venue um so and we talked
about it the other night that the the
sack toss the air kind of came out
of the venue
They did the seventy two hundred machine
workout this morning.
I don't think anybody was up and ready
for just to watch people row and ski
erg for twenty minutes or whatever it was.
But other than that, like.
There was a lot of cheering,
a lot of loud.
They were doing the wave.
It just was really, really wild.
And fun.
And they really loved on the athletes.
Lots of cheers.
Every time Pat Vellner came out,
he got a huge ovation.
Which, you know,
I wasn't sure that was going to happen
with the way the communities reacted to
things he's done in the past couple years.
But they really loved on him this weekend.
And I really love that.
He's a legend in our sport.
Multiple time podium winner.
He also had to do the Pat Vellner
fall off the rings today,
just as one last little to the CrossFit
Games, which was really,
really kind of funny and ironic.
But it was a great weekend,
a great weekend.
Yeah.
I listened to the spin cast for twenty
plus minutes of that event,
couldn't just watch machines for all that
time.
Yeah Meredith,
I was in the arena for that.
Thank goodness I was sitting beside Fluffy
Duck and we were talking the whole time.
Just chatting, shooting the breeze.
So that was fun.
Denise says, the fans,
first of all Denise,
congratulations on your silver medal.
Susan Clark is a savage who scored a
perfect six hundred points this week in
the Masters division.
She is just iconic in the Masters world.
But Denise came in right behind her.
So congratulations to Denise.
The medals looked really cool this year.
The back of them had a picture of
the ranch.
The front showed the CrossFit Games,
and they were really, really nice.
So Sherry saw the amount of content this
weekend was crazy.
Yeah,
I was on the Glittens earlier tonight.
And if you think about it,
this is our Super Bowl.
And when the NFL has their Super Bowl,
the media is blitzed around that place.
People that don't even cover sports go to
that event.
And that's what it feels like at the
CrossFit Games.
When you're back in the media room,
there's people I've never even seen
before.
And I watch a lot of content.
And I've been around this scene since
And to see people back there I've never
recognized before is wild.
But that's the way it is.
Denise says, thank you.
Feel like I won coming in second.
Yeah.
Coming in second to Susan Clark is nothing
to scoff at, for sure.
So today we was kind of the...
the coronation of Amy Kringle,
she had such a dominant performance.
And I want to spell this out for
you guys.
The podium,
the top three in the women's side,
were two hundred points ahead of fourth
place.
Two hundred.
The top three were a Tia-like performance
against the rest of the field.
And then with that,
Amy Kringle was another hundred and twenty
ahead of them.
That is a mind boggling domination.
When Tia did her thing,
second through tenth were all in that
little hopper basket of stuff, right?
This was three women dominating the field
and one dominating them.
That's how epic Amy Kringle was this
weekend.
And you could tell,
I'm not sure she'd admit this,
but the foot came off the gas pedal
a little bit today.
She was just making sure she was clean
and getting through every event and doing
what she needed to take the crown.
It was masterful what she did this
weekend.
Five events,
a quarter of the events she won.
A quarter.
That's amazing.
Then on the men's side, we have
The podium there were well over a hundred
points ahead of fourth place.
There was no chance of anybody catching
Jay Crouch, Dallin Pepper,
and James Sprague.
They dominated the field and James and
Dallin were close.
I picked James to win a week ago,
but my heart wanted Dallin to win at
the event.
And it was...
Dallin tried everything he could.
Everything he could to overtake James.
And James just didn't make the big
mistake.
He made a big one earlier in the
weekend by not hitting the buzzer.
But he didn't make the big mistake to
open up the door for Dallin to sneak
in.
So...
Yeah.
Crazy.
So fun to watch.
The arena was ramped up today.
The forward roll to support,
backward roll to support got so much
applause.
So many people yelling for it.
I thought it was going to be a
dud.
It was far from a dud.
The people trying to get those last-minute
rolls in, the place blew up for Ariel,
blew up for Paige,
blew up for Dallin and James.
It was wild.
Had my fingers crossed that Justin
Capodian this weekend wasn't in the cards.
No.
And they,
and they really pulled away from him over
the last few events.
Um, it was, uh,
poor page was never mentioned on the
broadcast.
That's crazy.
During that role to support stuff,
like she did great on the last two
events.
Really great.
Um,
They were calling her name out a ton
in the arena with the floor announcers.
KDL points out no American woman on the
podium.
Yeah, we're just back to where we are.
Used to be that way all the time.
Just like how they missed Olivia on the
last event winning.
Oh, my gosh.
I watched the broadcast yesterday just
because I wanted to see what it was
like.
And I just needed to get out of
the noise because I'd been here since the
Masters started.
And I thought it was good.
I thought it was really good.
So that sucks that today kind of went
that way.
Yeah,
Paige went first and second on the last
two workouts.
I wish she didn't come in with a
rolled ankle.
It would have been cool to see how
she would have done fully healthy.
But you just can't, it's sports.
You just can't control that kind of thing.
Denise says it was pretty crowded even
Friday.
The Vendor Village was a hit, I think.
It was really crowded today and yesterday
and pretty good crowd on Friday.
And it's a much bigger arena than we've
ever been in.
So that was good to see.
It gives me hope that we might be
heading in the right direction in some
aspects.
But who knows?
They got to take this momentum and they
got to put it into a season that
makes sense next year.
Because if they don't build off of the
momentum they created here,
which was good momentum, good momentum,
smart marketing throughout the off season
to get us to what was announced tonight,
the new open dates for twenty twenty
seven.
which is a week earlier than it's been
in the past.
So maybe that means no invites to
semifinals.
Yes, Shanna,
hopefully a season that is smarter.
Something that I can explain to my
friends.
Meredith says,
I'm really curious if Lucy could have
challenged Amy if she had been able to
do triple unders and the parallel bar
thing.
But she couldn't.
That's kind of the name of the game.
If you got to be able to do
the things that are put in front of
you.
And you can't say what if.
You just can't like.
I think people at home will consider this
year a step backwards,
but I think that's short-sighted.
It was a good games.
Can you elaborate, Markham,
why you think that?
Because being here, I don't feel a step.
I think it was way better than last
year.
And last year had good vibes.
in the arena.
This year was much better.
I saw Denise say earlier that she loved
the opening ceremonies.
It was so cool seeing all the divisions
walk out together with their flags filling
the floor.
It was awesome.
Awesome.
Shelly young,
who I got to meet this weekend or
this week.
And she's just the loveliest person.
Uh,
most of the people who are sitting around
us for first timers,
they were having a blast.
One just started CrossFit last year.
That's what we need to see.
Um,
I have made comments about the spin savant
beefs.
That is not my place to step in.
I don't know the facts,
and I'm not going to irresponsibly make
comments that I don't know.
Mark Phillips,
I'm trying to get you up here.
Boring events, broadcast nafus,
paywalled events.
Well,
if you think the paywalls are going away,
you're highly mistaken.
If you didn't see it already,
Waterpalooza has signed a deal with Flow
Elite.
So now Flow Elite is going to have
Waterpalooza on its umbrella as well.
It is an infusion of money into the
ecosystem.
And just like every other thing that we
watch or have for entertainment,
you are going to have to pay for
it.
It just is what it is.
But I will give Flo this.
I started following them on Instagram.
They promoted the hell out of the CrossFit
Games.
A ton.
A ton.
Not a fan of the GHD wall ball
triple unders.
I watched all the events.
The only event I turned off early was
the sandbag throw.
Again, John, I could nitpick things,
but as a whole,
it was really fun to watch.
And I can say this,
going back in all my years,
there was an event that I didn't like
at the games.
They never go about a thousand during the
games.
There's stuff that I didn't like.
So to nitpick this one,
they all have their shortcomings.
You're going to.
You don't know how it's going to play.
Like, I, honest to God,
thought this forward roll,
backward roll thing was going to be as
lame as lame could be.
And it turned out to be so much
fun in person.
I don't know if that came through on
the TV, but it was fun in person.
Anna Shoup,
I think that is understating it.
Amy came prepared for all of it.
She did.
Meg says,
the best part of the weekend you got
to hang with us.
It was.
You and Joseph are awesome.
But the true best part was watching you
try to take down a sandwich that thick.
I think you unhooked your jaw like a
snake to get your mouth around that
sandwich.
And you just...
Plus,
you looked like you hadn't eaten in six
days.
You were going after that sandwich like it
was your job.
That was my favorite moment of the
weekend.
Wayne Short,
I sat next to a couple from Australia
with no personal connection to an athlete,
just traveled here for the games as fans.
That's not a cheap trip from Australia.
Mark agrees that those takes are
short-sighted.
John George paid, will pay again.
Worth it.
Back to the idea.
If it helps CrossFit, I'll keep paying.
This is what I want to see next
though, John.
There were promises that they were going
to do some update shows.
They were going to create some content.
Maybe they're going to pull in some
third-party media.
Who knows?
But to put content out year-round,
not just these events.
And that's what I want to see next.
Shanna said there seemed to be more first
timers and multi-year attendees.
I was expecting more repeat people,
especially since it was the twentieth
anniversary.
Yeah,
Kiki did a thing like cheer if this
is your first time at the games,
cheer if you've been here multiple years.
And I think the first timers were louder
than the multi-timers.
He says a quick turnaround on all the
workouts is great to spectators,
but hard on the athletes and have no
issue with that.
It was hard on the media too.
I know nobody cares about us.
But trying to like download pictures and
download stuff and really getting no break
unless you were going to miss a heat
or two.
Denise Scott, I looked for you,
never found you.
I saw you a bunch at the Masters
games, Denise, from across the way.
But you seemed preoccupied,
and that's fine.
You're an athlete out there taking your
silver medal,
doing all that kind of stuff.
I get it.
And Meg says,
but demolish that demolish that sandwich.
She sure did.
I think it was her job.
Um, what else from the weekend masters,
uh,
the events played out much better than I
thought they were.
Uh, DT was fun to watch.
I always get to love to watch my
Masters athlete friends like Shanna and
Denise and Kate and of course Jamie and
Carolyn.
And speaking of Jamie and Carolyn,
tonight is our normal Sunday Night
CrossFit talk show.
Everybody's traveling right now.
And so we are postponing that until
Tuesday night.
But we're going to do a Tuesday night
show and debrief with both of them on
their experiences at the games.
And of course,
Carolyn winning the thirty five to thirty
nine year old division and getting gold in
that.
And and then going out into Vendor Village
and winning the deadlift competition.
Speculation is next year's site of the
games.
I have not heard a peep.
I think they are.
I think that Bruce has to make whatever
moves he's gonna make with CrossFit HQ
before we hear much more about that.
But I'm glad they got the open dates
out there.
So people doing the open can schedule
around it, can figure it out.
She has, gosh,
I have a dry throat tonight.
Shanna says Europe.
I think it's too early to go to
Europe and it's expensive.
All that equipment to ship overseas.
They complain that they don't have any
money now.
Can you imagine if they tried to get
all that stuff over to Europe?
And the one thing that is for sure
if they go to Europe is there are
no venues that will give you a festival
feel.
didn't get that here as much but the
nice thing was you have the arena and
then over here you had a park with
workouts going on and then back here you
had vendor village that was outdoors with
everybody having tents vendor village i
think was bigger than last year it felt
bigger because it was outside
People were out getting some sun.
The weather was beautiful this weekend.
So Vendor Village felt cool.
And CrossFit had a big store there.
So did Rogue.
Proven had a big tent there.
And then, of course,
you had your coffee places.
You had Yeti.
You had RX Smart Gear.
Velites was making custom stuff this
weekend.
So to me,
it felt much bigger than in the last
two years, Albany and Fort Worth.
Trish says there will be no games next
year.
I don't think that's the case.
I just don't know what it's going to
look like.
I wonder if they felt having all the
divisions in one week at one location is
something that worked.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I'm hearing so many conflicting things,
Denise,
from organizers of the age group division
athletes, the adaptive athletes.
I'm hearing so many conflicting things.
I don't
I just don't know.
I don't know if I have faith that
there's as much communication back and
forth as it is.
I really feel like CrossFit just wants to
rid themselves of the divisional athletes,
but they're too big of a moneymaker for
them.
Dana M had a frigging blast.
My voice has gone from cheering for
Colton.
Everyone seemed to be having a great time.
I agree.
Everybody seemed to be having a fun time.
People were dancing in the seats.
People were doing the flex cam.
People were just having a good time,
singing to the music.
The DJ was doing a good job.
And you know what was one of the
coolest things is them awarding the event
prizes right after the event.
In years past,
you waited until the very end in the
awards ceremony.
and you had to go through all twenty
events, both male and female,
handing out the plaques,
handing out the checks.
This year they did it right after each
event.
You won this event, come on over,
here's your plaque, here's your check,
presented by the sponsor of the event,
shake some hands, take a picture, move on.
Denise,
I don't believe that Legends is having
their comp in December this year.
I don't.
You know me.
I have like zero contact with Bob and
Joe.
Bob sat by me in the stands today,
looked at me and said, what up, Bob?
And I said, not much.
And that is all we said to each
other.
And I think he did it just to
like get at me because he knows I've
been critical of them.
But he didn't confront me about any of
that.
He just kind of did the passive thing.
So I don't know.
I don't know.
I just feel like there's no
outside-the-box thinking in that area with
the two-floor thing.
I just can't get over it.
I just can't.
If you have to do two floors,
then do it in a way that you
can watch the best athletes at different
times.
So, yeah, it just,
that really bummed me out because I was
there in person.
And when Carolyn's going head-to-head with
Mackenzie Riley,
and Noah and Scott are going head-to-head
on the other floor,
and I didn't get to watch any of
Noah and Scott.
You just can't split, like, I don't know.
I'm a man.
I can't multitask.
What can I tell you?
It's frustrating.
Ariel Lone won Spirit of the Game's
Nobody deserves it more than she does.
She's freaking awesome.
I love that Yeti changed the trophy to
something cool as opposed to that noble
thing.
So glad that happened.
And you get a Yeti cooler,
which is the packaging to get it home.
That was pretty cool.
What else?
Trying to think of the vibes of the
day and different things I just wanted to
share.
Yeah, that's pretty much it.
I'm headed for a plane in about forty
five minutes now.
Makes sense.
Scale down number of athletes,
bigger space, stupid dueling floors, dumb,
just my opinion.
We all have opinions.
The Yeti is amazing and so is the
medal.
um scott did you go to the wednesday
morgan hill event i did not so i
only got one lanyard so only one admission
uh to those events with my media
credentials and my photographer uh who is
e captures on instagram his name is
ishmael he is the best in the business
i let him have the lanyard so he
could go out and get all the shots
um
And he has posted them and collaborated
with me.
So if you go to my Instagram,
you can see them all.
He is freaking fantastic.
John,
we don't need to make fun of people.
My red eye is truly overnight.
I will leave at twelve thirty a.m.
tonight and I will get to Columbus at
ten a.m.
tomorrow.
Denise says,
I'm confused why the Monster Games was the
same weekend as the games.
That is because the games moved their
schedule.
The Monster Games always are this week.
They have been for a while.
They had everything set.
They had the venue already acquired.
And then CrossFit moved their games to the
same weekend.
And it was too late and too much
commitment made to this week for Monster
Games to give up on that.
But from everything I heard from Corey,
it was an awesome event.
Really well run.
Had a lot of fun.
So who knows?
It may be an option or an alternative
to the CrossFit Games Masters next year.
If you want to try something different.
So.
Well,
that's all I really have to say tonight.
I'm going to try to get my thoughts
organized more.
Shanna says it looked more awesome than
the Masters games.
I don't know.
I didn't really see anything,
so I can't really comment on that.
The one thing I know for a fact.
is the field at the Masters CrossFit Games
was awesome.
You had the best of the best here.
And if you, as a spectator,
flushed all of the other crap out and
watched the events and watched these elite
athletes do things at ages that you would
never expect them to do,
You know,
everybody bitches about the hip mobility
and high rocks because the woman is sixty
five.
I posted a video of seventy plus grass
to grass on their squats.
That's what's cool.
These athletes that are like defying age,
showing you that you can age gracefully.
That's what's cool.
And I don't want that taken away from
a games atmosphere,
but I understand the frustrations as well.
But just from a spectator view,
like you athletes are freaking awesome.
And we had the best of the best
here.
And it was at the CrossFit Games.
And if you want to go up against
the best, you kind of stuck with it.
So I don't know.
We'll see what happens.
I've heard there's some proposed changes,
but who knows if those are going to
happen.
Who knows if CrossFit's going to listen to
them.
So same weekend as Comic-Con, too.
Well, what I can tell you,
this I know for sure.
is that the anime convention was in San
Jose this weekend.
And so in my breakfast area of my
hotel in the morning,
it was all CrossFitters and all people
dressed up like different anime
characters, which is a wild combination.
And they actually shared the convention
center with the divisional athletes this
weekend.
What a combination to put together in the
same convention center on the same
weekend.
Shannon says it was a fun mix.
The oddity convention too.
Yep.
San Jose was awesome.
I said to my wife,
if it wasn't for the taxes, the politics,
and the earthquakes,
I would move here in a heartbeat.
But here we are going back to Ohio.
So anything left on what I want to
say?
Huge shout out to eCaptures,
Holly Dugan for putting out schedules all
weekend.
And behind the scenes,
Vicki Duncan has been helping me with
thumbnails and scheduling and all of that
kind of stuff.
Small team.
Small team.
But we get a lot done.
And I got to do, what,
five shows this weekend?
Yeah.
Got to hop on with Glintons too.
So that's fun.
The last thing I'm going to tell you
is I was talking to Wayne Short at
the Masters Games,
who is in our chat all the time.
We had a conversation.
I've been looking for something creative
to do in the upcoming season,
and Wayne may have solved my problem.
So thank you, Wayne.
We're going to test some things out,
and hopefully we have a fun,
fun project to do in the upcoming season.
With that, guys, I'm going to head out.
I'm going to finish packing,
and then I will see you not tomorrow.
Guaranteed no lunch show tomorrow.
I am not going to be equipped to
do that.
But we'll be back with lunch on Tuesday.
And then Tuesday night,
we'll get the girls in and we'll do
a Sunday night CrossFit talk on a Tuesday.
And then back to the regular schedule
after that.
I hope.
With that, guys,
have a great rest of your night.
Come on, John George.
It's season finale.
I got to do a cliffhanger.
I got to do a cliffhanger.
Taxes, politics, road congestion,
and cost of living,
earthquakes are the least problematic.
Yeah.
Safe travels, sir.
Tuesday it is.
Thank you.
Safe flight from Merida.
Thank you.
Yeah.
I think you guys are going to like
the project I'm trying to do.
Hopefully I can pull it off.
I don't want to say too much because
if I can't pull it off,
then I'm just empty promises.
Oh, and when I get home,
When we get back on the air on
Tuesday,
I'll have how you can order shirts.
I have the shipping materials already
purchased.
The shirt showed up three hours after I
left.
So I have them.
I have all sizes.
We'll figure that out.
I'll give you guys how you can order
next this coming Tuesday on both shows.
With that, now we'll say good night.
Hope you guys have a great rest of
your night and a great start to your
week.
And we'll see you next time on Lunch
with the Clydesdale.
You wouldn't wait to get to the editing
room to jazz me up.
I'm already jazzy.
Lunch with the Clydesdale Cowboy in the
saddle.
Lunch with the Clydesdale Cowboy in the
saddle.
Talking to reps,
real life strength in the battle.
From the gym to the screen, yeah,
we cover it all.
Midday motivation every time we press
call.
Lunch with the Clydesdale Cowboy in the
heat.
CrossFit, movies, music on repeat.
Half hour hustle, yeah,
we building that brand.
Grab a plate, children,
now you're part of the fam.
