Austin Wynns an above-average pop time,
not a ridiculously elite pop time,
but definitely an above-average one.
Has had a little bit of trouble with
the accuracy in his time in Texas,
but he absolutely gets out of that crouch
quickly.
And he's got some good release,
but it was accuracy that was plaguing him.
Who could forget the game where he had,
like, the two errant throws,
the two throwing errors.
That was the five-error game from a couple
of weeks ago.

lead over the Blue Jays and the Orioles
and the Tigers.

the content market is so oversaturated on

there's a lot of Rangers fans that are

so that's working in my favor.

They're America's team,

turning point.
I am just going game by game and
enjoying the wins as they come.

What are the Rangers going to do?
How is this going to shift the momentum?
What is this going to do for the

Every time I do something like that,

immediately they go in the crapper.

And so I'm done proclaiming anything like

I'm happy they got a win tonight.
If the season ended today,
the Rangers are in the playoffs.
You have a chance for a series win

Not dominant.
It was not a dominant outing for McKenzie,
but he did give the Rangers a chance
to win.
And I do think that is the most
important takeaway here.
But eight hits, ninety nine pitches,
three earned in five and two thirds.
I guess the glass half full is he
was one out away from a quality start.
Six innings, three earned runs.
I do think it would have been nice
had he been able to give the bullpen
a little bit more rest.
But at this point,
you're just happy they got the win.
I think it was impressive that he was
able to come back from the three-run bomb.
I think sometimes when McKenzie has faced
that kind of adversity,
we've seen a bit of a temporary crumble.
where he really has that big inning and
he starts getting wild.
And to his credit,
he gives up the three-run bomb that kisses
the left field foul pole just barely.
And then he locks it in.
I mean,
he was giving up a lot of two-out
hits today, finding a way around them.
Again, not a dominant day,
but McKenzie gives the Rangers a chance to
win.
We talked about last night with Cal Q,
Five or six innings,
three earned runs or less.
I think you're expecting more out of
McKenzie.
I think this is still a little bit
below what the expectation should be for
him, but I think you'll take this.
He allows today just the three earned
runs.
Clearly you're wishing he could have a
little less traffic.

But get the Rangers in the game.
Jakob Junis, let's talk about him.
Junis gave the Rangers exactly what they
needed.
This was a sight for sore eyes performance
from Junis.
An eight-pitch inning, three up,
three down.
After this bullpen has spent so much of
the week making life harder on this team,
that inning, it felt important.
I kind of had a little bit of
that feeling, man,
is he going to come back and have
a little rust, get into a little trouble?
Seeing that one, two, three,
clean eight pitcher,
I was just thrilled with what we got
from Junis.
And I'm hopeful that he can resume that
role right in front of Jacob Latz as
the bridge guy to the ninth inning.
Takes a lot of pressure off of the
rookies, off of Gray.
Takes a lot of pressure off of Ahlstrom
as well.
And Chase Silseth, like without Junis,
Silseth was kind of that guy, right?
Was the eighth inning guy,
seventh inning guy,
depending on if you're going to have last
pitch two innings or not.
So to see Junis come back and really
not miss a beat.
I mean, look, Junis on the year, two,
sixty three ERA after the scoreless outing
today,
fifteenth hold of the season for Jacob
Junis as well.
Good stuff from him.
Standings, Houston at this point,
two games ahead.
It's really three.
It's really a three-game lead because of
the tiebreaker.
Keep that in mind.
But the Rangers do now own the final
wild card spot by a half game.
We can enjoy the Rangers being in the
playoffs if the season ended today.
I don't take a ton of comfort in
that.
This team is quite volatile.
If you've been watching the last one
hundred and twenty four games,
you would know this.
But I feel good about at least the
Rangers being in the thick of it.
I hope that they can catch a consistent
stride and really take control of a
playoff spot versus just kind of hanging
around one.

at least if you don't like that phrase
when it comes to Seags,
I know there's a lot of people that
don't really think he's leading this
clubhouse.
I think if we're being real,
a lot of guys are looking up to
Corey Seager.
Whether Corey is actively leading like
Adrian Beltre is irrelevant.
I think a lot of guys,
it's a two-time World Series MVP.
He's one of four people in Major League
Baseball history to achieve that.
I think that there are some players
looking up to Corey Seager.
I think when a lot of guys see
Corey Seager doing things that he's doing
right now,
you do have the team take on a
little bit of that, right?
The stoic,
almost robotic nature of Corey Seager.
No lassos, no high socks.
He marches to the beat of his own
drum, as they say, but...
I think to see a little emotion out
of Gore and to see some guys getting
fired up, you love it.
That's what we all grew up on.

couple of nights ago.
It's hard when you grew up in that
peak era where the Rangers, late,
late two thousands, early twenty tens,
where there was so much emotion.
There was so much emotion in those teams.
It's like anything below that is almost
kind of a disappointment, honestly, right?

and eventually Beltre and just all those
guys.

It's hard when you're coming from that and
then you're looking at the team in twenty

more of the whole package.

You were getting the vocal leadership,
the accountability.

not.

Feels kind of like I feel about Josh
Young, except worse.
Like Josh Young, obviously a great bat,
much better bat than Foscue.
Young is very one-dimensional.
He's not good out in the field.
He's not fast.
The only thing he's doing is hitting,
and he was hitting very, very well.
Foscue, to me,
is not on Josh Young level of hitting.
If you can only hit against lefties versus
hitting against lefties and righties
alike, like Josh Young is doing,
I think the standard is much, much higher.
And it's even higher when you're a young
player, I don't trust you in the field,
and all you can do is hit against
lefties.

To me,
I am okay if the Rangers optioned Foscue
and brought up Walcott,
but I don't know if they're going to
do it.
The years of control thing are important.
You figure they don't want to necessarily
burn up time if they don't need to.

is on the level of like a Luis

but think about how much we wanted Arise
at certain points.

out on Arise, but there is value.
I know this is a lofty player to
bring up Ichiro.

Ichiro definitely did have some pop.
He just chose to play the game a
little bit differently.
But there are guys that are to be
valued that didn't necessarily hit the
ball out of the ballpark every other time.
I am a big fan of Osuna.
It doesn't take much to get me on
an Osuna kick.

I would love to see him come back
up when his time,
when his ten days are done.

how much they love Kalanick.

Evan Carter if he does not finish the

The Rangers do have some up and coming
outfielders.

I think the Rangers keep Walcott in the
infield, but Walcott has a hose.
You could put Walcott in the outfield with
how athletic he is.
Let's say Corey Seager,
for whatever reason,
you're catering and you're going to give
Corey another year at shortstop.
I think you got to do what's best

If Corey doesn't like it, don't like it,

But if you're going to not move Corey
off shortstop,
third base is clearly an option for

I like to check it out there too.

I don't think he got in today.
I do not think he got in today.
We'll see him tomorrow most likely,
though.
We'll see Cody tomorrow, I think,
with the lefty on the mound,
with Lopez on the mound.
I think that'll be it.
Hey, speaking about tomorrow,
let's go ahead and let's lock in on
that ballgame.
So Bradford versus Lopez.
Here's the rundown, both lineups.
You have really a limited amount of ABs
with the A's against Bradford.
Butler, four for eight with a homer.
Lefty on lefty, too.
Look out for Cody Bradford against
Lawrence Butler.
Gelof, O for seven.
Soderstrom, O for two.
Williams, O for two.
Wilson, O for four.
So a small sample size,
but pretty good for Cody Bradford.
On the flip side,
Lopez against the Rangers.
He got Burger, one for three.
Carter,
Not going to play tomorrow,
but has a walk against him.
Duran, one for one.
Diaz, O for one.
Cody Freeman, one for two with an RBI.
Wyatt Langford, O for four.
Brandon Nimmo, one for three.
Joc and Seager looks like both O for...
Joc, actually, he has, I think,
a walk only, just one plate appearance.
Corey, O for four.
There you go.
Yeah,
I'd imagine Freeman will be in the lineup
tomorrow.
I do think, Austin,
that Bradford pitches well tomorrow.
I think he finds a way to get
a quality start.
Unless he really gets into trouble in the
early innings, but he throws strikes.
So I tend to think that he probably
does go at least six.
And I think he can limit this A's
lineup to three runs or less.
So I could absolutely see six runs,
excuse me, six runs, six innings pitched,
three earned runs or less.
I think that makes a lot of sense.
I'm really curious what Bradford is going
to look like against some of the more
elite teams in the American League.
Clearly,
he's pitched against three of the worst.
The Giants were in the NL, granted.
But Giants,
one of the worst teams in baseball.
Angels,
one of the worst teams in baseball.
And then, of course,
you have the Athletics,
one of the worst teams in baseball.
I have been impressed with Bradford so
far, too,
but I do think the first real test
for him is going to be when we
face that winning team, a team with...
you know,
some skin in the game for October.
I think that's going to be really where
we judge Cody Bradford fully.
I think you can obviously be happy for
him.
I'm surely cheering for him to continue to
dominate.
But that first start against a playoff
team,
down the stretch here,
that's the one where you're really going
to say to yourself, all right,
let's see what he's got.
And I don't think you're going to
necessarily find out everything you need
to know about him tomorrow,
but you just want to see him continue
to stack positive outcomes.
And so far, so good.
You can only play against the team that's
in front of you.
And Cody's doing a nice job taking care
of those assignments.
No doubt.

a couple new things so I appreciate you
hanging but tonight told me Langford can
still change a game with one swing of
the bat and when he is cooking this
lineup instantly looks a lot more
dangerous
Still unsure about Texas consistently
protecting these slim late leads.
I think this was a great outing for,
obviously, Junis.
Latz pitched well.
I still had a little bit of unease
with this bullpen.
I think maybe you can just chalk it
up to the injuries and guys in roles
that are maybe a bit over their head,
but I'm still a little bit uneasy.
I would have loved,
even with Junis healthy,
I would have loved one more real arm
out there, real high leverage arm, CY,
to acquire at the deadline.
Silseth has not generated a lot of
confidence with me.
We'll see what happens there.
But, of course, you feel great about Latz.
You feel pretty solid about Junis.
But still a little worried about this
bullpen, if I'm being totally honest.
If I'm not being total prisoner of the
moment here.
Next,
I am going to be watching to see
if the Rangers can carry this over into
tomorrow.
Look, we said it earlier.
We always talk about, man,
is this the win that catapults them into
this really magnificent stretch of games?
I'm done doing that,
but I am watching closely.
What does the lineup do tomorrow against
the lefty?
How does Wyatt respond?
Does he stay on a heater?
How does Brandon Nimmo respond?
Snapped an O for fourteen today facing
lefties who he's crushed all year.
